Cobblestone Academy has changed Elisabeth Buchanan’s life. She has a troll for a best friend, a vampire lusting after her, and a fabulous witch as an academic advisor. After years of feeling out of place, she’s finally discovered where she belongs. Everything would be perfect if she didn't know that there was a nightmare lurking in the shadows outside, a nightmare named the Inquisitor who wants Elisabeth and her powers all for himself.

However there is power in her knowledge and Elisabeth has vowed to learn and train to keep her magic her own and defend the magical world from the evil one who wants to destroy it all. Thanks to a touch of genius, Elisabeth and her friends have begun piecing together historical facts in an effort to track down the man prophesied to be key in bringing down the Inquisitor and his reign of terror.

While they’re consumed with their research unforeseen dangers begin gathering, threats that don’t include the Inquisitor and his army of zombies; threats that hide in places Elisabeth’s never thought to look. These new enemies could shatter her new life and destroy the friendships she’ll need to help her survive the Inquisitor’s wrath. As her and her friends get closer to the truth, their bonds will be tested and their lives will be on the line.

This book was so much better than the first book. The stories have intertwined nicely and the ending was very very fitting, especially for Rebecca. Elizabeth's mother killing her grandmother was so so sad. I really liked her grandmother and it was sad but not shocking. I'm not sure about Brendon. I hope he's not related or is The Inquisitor. Jason is beginning to grow on me, I'm hoping to know more about his backstory. I am going to start book 3 and I am now really into this series.
