Wolfscorge #1

Feral: Part One

Rate this book
The only place left for me is Wolfscorge. The place of nightmares for feral little Omegas who fail to find a forever pack.
I’ve been through six and I have the removed bond scars to prove it.
This is my last chance at happiness but I’m really just swapping one prison for another.
Especially when I find myself mated to an Alpha that hates me and pregnant with another man’s child.
The kicker to all of this? I might not even be human.

THIS WAS ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!! I loved it. The intensity, the pain and antagony, the high heat and softer moments, ALL OF IT!! An MMMMM omegaverse romance featuring two Alphas, a Beta, their pregnant Omega and a feral Omega newly thrown into their pack.

[…] just when I think that Slate can’t surprise me more, he turns back to me, his eyes locked on me. “You once told me you’re not my Alpha. You’re wrong. You are my Alpha, but I’m not your Omega.”

Meet the characters:

Kael: Alpha, head of the pack, bonded to Malik and Preston
Thane: Alpha, bonded to Preston and force-bonded to Slate
Malik: Beta, healer and brain of the pack, pack-bonded to Preston
Preston: Omega, pregnant, and very possessive of his men

Slate: Omega, feral, apparently a new form of designation with characteristics that initially make no sense, developing quickly

This was fast paced and nobody knew what the heck was going on, revelation only slowly seeping in. Diving into Part Two right away.

My review:

This book grabbed me from the very first page. Slater introduces us to Slate, an omega who has been through hell and back, only to be thrown into Wolfscorge, a brutal "rehabilitation" center. He arrives completely wrecked, but with this core of stubborn defiance that I just loved.

Honestly, the emotional journey is what makes this book shine. Slate has been told he's broken and worthless his entire life, and watching him grapple with that trauma is heartbreaking. Every time he flinches away from kindness or fights the idea that he might deserve care, it just hurts. The constant rejection he’s faced makes his resilience feel both tragic and incredible.

While the premise is dark, the story didn't go to the bleak places I anticipated, which was a bit of a surprise. What really worked for me, though, were the unique twists on the omegaverse genre. The mystery behind Wolfscorge and Slate's true designation kept me guessing, and the introduction of an engineered designation is such an intriguing piece of world-building. When I jumped into this book, I truly thought we would only get the whole "he's broken, therefore he's feral and needs to be fixed.... but it's actually SO MUCH MORE.

The relationships are building slowly, the spice is kinda much .. faster? and I'm here for it. Preston is the gentle, caring soul Slate desperately needs, while Kael is the grumpy alpha you just know is going to have a major wake-up call. That final reveal absolutely wrecked me, and Slate's reaction was the perfect, painful culmination of his journey so far. I'm so invested in his story and desperately needed the next book.

(Thanks God I stumbled upon this now because I immediately jumped into it and loveeed it. Book 2 is even better trust me ;))

I keep trying to love ABO books but they don't particulary go with a sex averse, albeit sex positive, Asexual mindset 😂😂 It makes me feel more disconnected because it just seems so excessive to me that they're having sex in every single chapter! Cannot relate.... I just want to shout at them to develop a personality trait!

That said, this is actually one of the more interesting stories that I've found. I liked how there was an actual plot taking place, and there were a variety of complex emotions and challenges thrown at the pack - there was still SO MUCH sex though 😂😂

I liked how there's an ongoing conspiracy and they're trying to figure out what's actually going on, and the genetic manipulations and experiments have my interest.

Looking forward to part 2 and seeing what they can uncover.

I haven’t read an omegaverse story in quite a while, but I’ve always loved MM romances—and Slater’s writing style pulled me right back in. From the very beginning, the story was incredibly captivating, and the experiences Slate was forced to endure had me seething. The Collective? Yeah, I hated them with a passion, which honestly just proves how well they were written.

The pack dynamics in Kael’s pack were fascinating and added so much depth to the story. That said, I didn’t warm up to them right away—especially Kael himself. Total Alpha-hole at first. 😒 Watching those dynamics shift and evolve over time, though, was one of the most satisfying parts of the book.

I don’t want to spoil anything, but if you enjoy hidden societies, intense pack dynamics, emotional tension, and a few unexpected plot twists that keep you on your toes, you should absolutely give this story a chance.

This was really good. The only thing that was out of my comfort zone was two cousins in one pack. They didn’t interact with each other sexually but they were still too close in certain situations for my comfort.

Aside from that I really enjoyed the characters, how Slate refused to submit to the alphas but also his quick connection with Preston (I’m a mega sucker for omega x omega).

This has a twist to it that’s more than just your average omegaverse and it was really interesting. I’m excited to see where it goes and I’m glad the next book comes out in a few days.

loved!

I really enjoyed this book and was so sad to see the way it ended! Only because it made me want part two so bad lol. This was such a good story! I loved the spice, the plot was well written and the pacing was just enough to keep me on my toes!

I loved how different the characters are and how they all have a different story. I couldn’t get enough of these characters and I can’t wait for more. The so much chemistry between these characters and moments that had me swooning.

Overall, this was a good story and I can’t wait for the next one! N. Slater knows how to draw me into books and I just never want to put them down! I highly recommend this book so good!

Slate is a feral omega that has gone through 6 previous packs and bond removal surgeries when he is shipped off to Wolfsorge, a compound that is more like a prison filled with criminals tasked to help rehabilitate feral Omegas. He won’t submit, he refuses to bond and he wants nothing to do with these Alphas. He is broken and he lives in despair but for some reason these men call to him. Especially the alphas pregnant omega. This world puts a new spin on omegaverse and shifters, it has a dark element running through it, with conspiracies and shadiness. It sucked me in and I loved every second of it. I can’t wait for part 2. Well written and interesting.

I think I will just forever love everything N.Slater writes from this day forth. The story was short but we got a lot of character information and world building. This story is pretty gritty and has lots of interesting plot points that i look forward to exploring in part 2.

I am loving all the crazy new designations in slater's omegaverse. This one sees Omega Slate in deep despair as he's thrown out another pack, and shipped off to the hellish prison aka Wolfscorge. It's a place for outcasts, broken alphas and damaged or feral omegas, and it's slate's final chance for a pack. But he's wounded, broken, fearful, and fiercely determined not to submit and obey.
Now he has 3 grumpy, angry and confusing males, and a sweet omega to challenge him. This features forced bonds, designation experiments, male pregnancy, pack dynamics, and a conspiracy at the centre forcing everyone together. I love the distinct personalities, all the defiance from Slate, the sass and empathy from Preston, and the angst and conflict from the alphas and beta. Excited for part 2.

I was so excited for this arc. I love N. Slater's mm omegaverses and this one did not disappoint. It was a shorter read and a bit dark but I really enjoyed the characters and the story hooked me from the very beginning. I cant wait to read the next one!

La verdad es que me gustó mucho todo. La sensación de que es como un capítulo de una serie, las diferentes personalidades, el trasfondo de suspenso, los pocos datos que tenemos. Menos mal que ya mañana sale la segunda parte.

I honestly expected something darker than what the book actually was. It definitely has darkish elements and a background that sounds chilling though. I think there were some nice ideas, although there were things I wanted differently.

The story is about Slate, a feral omega that is sent to Wolfscorge, a place where he's promised to be rehabilitated. He finds himself involved with a pack of two alphas, a beta and a pregnant omega. His condition makes it hard for him to be stable, and things get more complicated when a truth is revealed. Suddenly this place isn't exactly just something he could endure for a year.

I believe that having both parts in one as a whole would've helped to present the story better. There are interesting aspects of it, such as what Wolfscorge truly represents and the fact that Slate isn't just an omega that has become feral. These are new elements that aren't seen often in omegaverse, and it's appreciated when something new is brought to the table.

Other things I enjoyed were the poly element and having two pregnant omegas in the same group. It gives space for more possible conflicts. I also found Slate's past intriguing since the storyline is set to reveal more about what happened prior to arriving there, even more due to his revealed condition.

Now onto what didn't work for me entirely: the fast pacing and the continuous amount of sex given the shortness of the book. I think that the story needed to have a slower pace to feel natural because some situations feel forced to have sex scenes in there. I don't mind smut if that helps in advancing the plot, which it may have been the intention, but it gets tiring after having them so close to each other. I wanted to read about new events and for the chapters to be longer when it was needed.

Aside from that, it's also a fast burn, which I must admit isn't my thing, but I imagine it works perfectly well for those that prefer this. I just tend to lean towards dynamics that don't have any sort of insta attraction, or that at least keep it to the minimun. The good thing is that I loved the connection between the omegas, because I really like o/o pairings, but I would always prefer more development between MCs.

Overall, this is a fast paced darkish poly omegaverse that teases many secrets and looks like it has something in store for the future installment.

This is like a mix of dystopian scifi, non-shifter omegaverse, and slight paranormal near the end when some secrets are revealed. I love the hurt/comfort and almost desolate feel to Slate's situation that pulls at my heartstrings. We later find out that's because of some shady behind-the-scenes stuff from 3 organizations that are in bed together that resulted in the very purposeful situation that Slate finds himself in.

I also feel like there was a prologue or a couple of chapters missing from the beginning that eases us into Kael, Thane, Preston, and Malik's situation that hints at an ongoing plot point that may be connected to a previous series? Not sure since this is the first book I'm reading in this universe and from the author. There's some recaps and context clues that tell us how they got to Wolfscorge and their plan for retribution, but it still seems like we were dropped into the middle of their story.

I love the introduction of a new designation that's not natural but our MCs later find out is engineered to bring back shifters. The smut is also hot and I'm loving the slow build of the chemistry between Slate and the other pack members, except Preston who is the only one he warms to. Kael is still his alpha-hole self though, so I'm excited to see how he thaws down, and I'm excited for the BABIES next book, but worried about them being brought into their dire situation.

MMMMM

Dark
Omegaverse

Slate has been rejected by 6 different packs. Had to have the mating bite and bond removed. Now he is defective. He can’t scent, he doesn’t get his heat, etc. He is being shipped off to a last resort placement. He is to be bonded to a new pack, who are only doing it by force.

Malik, the beta. Preston, the pregnant omega. Thane and Kael, the alpha cousins. They don’t want the intruder but they were promised freedom in one year. Everything changes once they smell and bond with him. And then he is instantly in heat. Then pregnant. Then he shifts into a fox.

There is a major backstory that we only get bits of. Can’t wait to see where the story goes. It is definitely not your average Omegaverse.

Well.... this was a bit of a strange book for me. 😆 I've read some omegaverse before, so it wasn't completely new, but M/M pregnancy..... that was kinda new to me, lol! How does that even work??? 😳
As seems to be the case with this genre, a lot of sex scenes, nevertheless, the story was entertaining. And after reading Part One, I had to read Part Two, too!
Enjoyable & amusing read.... however, it might be a while before I read a book like that again. 😉🤪

This is book 1 in a new series and it definitely packs a punch.

You'll get different personalities. From the OTT alphahole, a charming witty Beta, a sassy omega, a smart mouthed alpha and a fearful but defiant omega.. who just wants to be loved and have someone actually stick around.

You definitely need to pay attention to the content warning. Some aspects were dark and all you want to do is wrap Slate up in a hug and just hold him close. Preston is sooo sweet amd who can resist him in his cute panties and pregnant belly?

While this does end on a cliff hanger, its more of a mild one. But I'm definitely salivating for book 2.

uhmmm

Honestly I thought I wouldn’t like Preston but I honestly hate the alphas in the book. Like Kael through all book 1 is a complete alpha hole. His cousin thane been with slate the longest and he still does not trust him. 😒. I feel like malik contributes nothing to either slate nor the other trio like he’s just there as an extra and has no depth to him really. Book one really only focuses on Preston and slate. Story is interesting but kind of slow so many questions and not enough answers and the relationship building is slow and annoying at times. I wished slate found other alphas for him cause these alphas are not it.

Thoroughly enjoyed reading Feral and couldn’t put it down once I started. I always love reading and learning about a new designation but there were a couple of things that kind of confused me in this book. We never find out why Alphas and packs keep sending Slate back to Veltmoor. He never gets any closure as to why he’s being sent back.

The other thing that bothered me is the whole story as to why Kael, Thane, Preston and Malik were sent to Wolfscorge. We get a bit of information but never the whole story. Maybe this will come out in Part 2.

Note that Part 1 ends on a cliffhanger. Can’t wait for Part 2 where hopefully Slate finally gets his happy ever after.

Interesting so far

This is a heavy book, so make sure you read a sample to see what CWs there are. I do love the mystery of everything and it has a nice horror element I like. Yes, more of that, please.

One thing though, I understand if you want to avoid mentioning ethnicities, but please don't or do a better job of describing the skin tones and features of the characters. At this point, I'm trying to keep track of sets of eye and hair colors, while the characters or amorphous blobs. 😂

Slate is an omega feral that has been bonded/mated six times and each time that has been taken away. He would rather die than go through the heart ache again. He finds himself being transferred to Wolfscorge and bonded yet again.
This time though things aren't what they seems and secrets are coming to light. Slate just might have found himself mated to four others. Two alphas, a beta and another omega.
Forced bonding, secrets aplenty, found family and it ends on a cliffhanger.

Love the series so far but it does feel like I got dropped into the middle of the series instead of book 1. There is a lot of history between the original 4 that feels missing and the plot line is kind of confusing because it feels like it’s been established already but you’re missing info. Love the hurt comfort aspect and struggles. Not a huge fan of the instalove between two of the characters but I get we have to move the plot along.

Short and intense and invested

I can’t help but feel so sorry for Slate he has been rejected left and right and feels like there’s no pack out there that will ever be for him. He wants it all to end but he’s forced to go to this other pack or institution. The institution was never the answer, so he gets this pack but the kick is Slate and the pack are deeply connected by fate did I mention they have a pregnant omega…. So good

This world is cruel and heartbreaking at best, but Slate is really not interested in trying to get through much either. He's hit a breaking point with trying to find a pack and Wolfscorge is his last chance. There's lots of anger, frustration, and hopelessness that doesn't ever seem to get better. The twist was unique and I am desperate to know what happens with Slate and his new pack.

"I press my face into Slate’s fur, loving the earthy smell that comes with this version of him. Despite the odd situation, I can’t help but touch my Omega. “You’re so pretty,” I whisper, ignoring everything else. “You’re so mine.”
Slate pauses and then leans into my touch. Yours."

Slate’s pain and self loathing had my heart aching for him. He didn’t deserve all the agony he was up through. Especially to just be told that he’s broken and be shipped off to what is essentially a glorified prison camp. He has had his heart and his spirit shattered over and over by pack after pack who were supposed to love and care for him. The fact that he had any strength at all left to even go to Wolfescorge is a miracle in itself.

I also really liked the bomb that Preston dropped on sweet anxious little Slate, and his immediate denial. Poor bean is in such desperate need of love and affection.

The cliffhanger this was left on was absolutely perfect for setting up the 2nd installation of the pack’s story.
