Devarakonda Balagangadhara Tilak is best known for his posthumous collection of poems Amrutham Kurisina ratri, ("The Night When Nectar Rained") published in 1969. This book won the Andhra Pradesh state Sahitaya Academy Award and Central Government Sahitaya Akademy Award in 1970. The volume has been called a "milestone in modern Telugu" by Sisir Kumar Das, who added, "But for him, 'verse libre' or 'prose poetry' could not have gained so much of popularity."

His collection of short stories include Sundari-SubbaRavu, Vuri Chivara Illu and Tilak Kadhalu. His stories were influenced by Maxim Gorky and Rabindranath Tagore.

తిలక్ కథలు | దేవరకొండ బాల గంగాధర తిలక్

సామాన్య పాత్రలతో రక్తి కట్టించే సన్నివేశాలు చిత్రించి పాఠకుడిని ఉక్కిరి బిక్కిరి చేస్తుంది ఈ పుస్తకం.

మధ్య తరగతి మందహాసాలు, కింది తరగతి చిందులాస్యాలు, ఉన్నత విలాసాలూ వెరసి సమాజంలో పెరిగిన పేరాశ, స్వార్థం, మోసం, క్రౌర్యం, అసూయ వంటి వాటి చుట్టూ తిరుగుతాయి తిలక్ గారి కథలు. ఇవి రాసి 50 సంవత్సరాల పైనే అయినా ఇప్పటికీ కొత్తగా, ఆలోచింపచేసేలా అన్వయించుకోగలిగేలా అనిపిస్తాయి.

ప్రతి కథ ఓ పాఠం. ప్రతి పాత్ర జీవితం అంటే ఏంటో నేర్పుతూ ఉంటాయి. కానీ ఇందులో కొన్ని పాత్రలు ఏమీ చేయలేని నిస్సహాయ సంకట స్థితిలోనే ఉంటాయి. జీవితంలో జరిగేవన్ని మన చేతిలో ఉండవ్, మనం చేయగలిగిందంతా "ఊరి చివరి ఇల్లు " అనే కథలో తిరిగి రాడని తెలిసినా సరే గంపెడు విజయుడి కోసం ఎదురు చూసిన రమలాగా ఏదో ఆశతో మంచి రోజుల కోసం ఎదురు చూడటమే.

"....ప్రతి జీవితం ప్రత్యేక జీవితం ఒకరికి మరొకరికి సంబంధం లేదు... " అని తిలక్ అన్నట్లు తన కథలోని పాత్రలు అనేక సామాజిక సమస్యల వలయాల్లో తమ తమ వ్యక్తిత్వాలను సందర్భ అనుసరంగా ప్రకటిస్తూ మానవత్వ భిన్న కోణాలని ప్రదర్శిస్తాయి. ఇవన్నీ చదివాక సమాజం ఎలా ఉంటే బావుంటుంది అనే ఆలోచన పాఠకులని కలత పెడుతుంది. తిలక్, సమాజం ఎలా నడుస్తుందో, మానవత్వం ఎన్ని విధాలుగా పతనం అవుతుందో చూపిస్తారు.

"ఎవర్నీ నమ్మకు ఈ మనుషులందరూ దొంగ వెధవలు- విష సర్పాలన్నది" తిలక్ సగటు పాత్రల అభిప్రాయం. "స్వార్ధం కన్నా గొప్ప శక్తి ప్రపంచంలో లేదని తెలిసిపోయింది నాకు. ఈ ఆదర్శం, ఆశయం అనేవి అన్ని ఆ ప్రాథమిక స్వార్ధం అనే దానికి అంతరాయం కలిగించనంత వరకే" అన్నది "సముద్రం లాటిదే దరిద్రం కూడా అవతలి గట్టు కనపడదు" అన్నది, దాన్ని అంటిపెట్టుకుని ఆవరించే ఆకలిని గురించి "రోగిష్టి ఆరోగ్యాన్ని గురించి, ఆకలితో ఉన్నవాడు రుచికరమైన వంటల గురించి ఆలోచించకుండా యే చట్టమూ శాసించలేదు" అన్నది తిలక్ దుర్భిణీ చూపుతో పసిగట్టిన సామాజిక అంశాలు.

ఆలస్యం చేయకుండా చదివేయండి, చదివే క్రమంలో ఆ కథలలోని నిస్సహాయ పాత్రలలో మీరుంటే ఏం చేసేవారో ఆలోచించండి!!

One of the best book i ever read in telugu. This book is a collection of few stories written by Bala Gangadhar Tilak. Each and every story is unique and special in its own way. Oori chivara illu and Nallajarla roaddu are my best pick amoung all the stories. If u are an aspiring writer then this book is a must read for you.

ప్రతి కథా వేరే శైలిలో, ఆహ్లాదకరంగా రూపుదిద్దుకున్నది. ఇందులో "సముద్రపు అంచులు" అనే కథ నాకు ప్రత్యేకంగా ఇష్టం.

Tilak wonderfully writes about life.. especially while dealing with good inside every person and bad inside the so called "good" and "cultured" people.
