In the world where bookstores are becoming increasingly less significant in the world of publishing, this book is useful for those trying to tap into creative ways of selling their content. Although some of the information is fairly obvious, the read is useful for generating distribution ideas for your content to sell directly to consumers.

Brian covers everything. There is not a stone unturned, and that is what makes this book great for use by any authors who are doing all or contributing to their book marketing program. I would have given it a five except it has some outdated concepts and companies in it. But those are easy to overlook and get to the real meat of ways to market books. Publishers won't do much for their B & C authors, and this shows you how to get to be one of their A authors by sales. I've got so many sticky notes stuck to pages with underlined copy that it will take me a year to go through all of them. If this book hasn't been read by you and isn't on your shelf, you aren't serious about being a selling writer.

Although a bit outdated, this is still an excellent resource for writers looking to sell at places that are not bookstores. You will learn how to sell at airport bookstores, big-box stores, libraries, and more. I especially liked the last few chapters, which provided a general overview on how to market your book through public relations, speaking gigs, and endorsements. Jud also provides an extensive appendix with sample letters, one sheets, and more. A great reference guide if you need creative ideas for your book. I hope Jud plans on updating this book one day.

This book was very detailed which I appreciated. The end chapter combines everything in the previous ones so that you have a very good idea of what you need to do in preparation for selling your books. There were two things that kept it from getting a 5 star rating. Sometimes it was too detailed. For example, the author gives a list of places you can contact for sales, including their contact information. Because this information is repeated again in the appendix, it just takes up space in the book. Also, the way sections are organized are confusing. They are numbered continuously throughout the book instead of per chapter.

This was an amazing find - very odd that it has to do with book sales and I never heard of it before in my two years hunting down important books on book-selling! While much of this boko was a review of many other books, half of it is vital. I had an idea of non-traditional markets to explore, but this book named more than what I was thinking, and gives specific examples of companies and directories. Since this book is 2009 and it's now 2010 almost 2011, there are plenty of links that don't work, but fear not, it's still a must read for anyone selling books.
