Cara Nelson is the author of the bestselling 'Men of the Capital' series. Her books hit the Amazon store in the summer of 2014 and have since been enjoyed by over 50,000 readers! She is known for her bold characters, hilariously witty dialogue and touching romances.
Interested in a fun, light and breezy read? Her readers recommend you start with 'The Billionaire's Hotline'.
Fight was really a wonderful read. It is not only about sexy fighters but really more about redemption. Zoe shines a light on Aaron's soul forcing him to face his demons and become a "real man." The book is mostly the internal struggle of Aaron as he battles his way to greatness both physically and metaphorically. The only reason why I ding this book even a little bit is because the ending happens really fast and his transformational decision seems to happen with almost no consequences, but hey lets face it-it is fiction. Readers go into fiction knowing that they may have to accept some things that may or may not be realistic. Anyways, I digress. It was a wonderful love story that was written well enough that it gave me butterflies and made me laugh a few times. Definitely worth a read!
Stupid, Stupid, Stupid!!! I kept hoping it would get better, I was sorely displeased with this book, I don't reccomend it, it doesn't even deserve 1 star
The first book I read by this author 'The Billionaires Hotline' completely blew me away, it was fabulous and funny, hilarious actually and while I enjoyed 'A Matter of Taste' and 'The Doctor's Damsel' they didn't have the extra spark of 'Hotline' and I must admit I've not read any of this author's others books, but this one I just couldn't ignore apart from the synopsis which sounded great there was the cover, let's face it it's not a cover that can be easily ignored. Aaron Dolan and his older brother Kyle fight, they always have, bareknuckle fighting and Zoe Daniels is the art graduate hired to film their fights, telling herself she'd never fall for a fighter the more she comes across Aaron the more difficult it is to remember that. Aaron is so much more than he first appears and the more Zoe gets to see the more she likes, she discovers the man beneath the anger, his reasons for fighting, his past and how bleak his future looks to him. I have to say I loved this book it's different from the previous ones I've read from Cara but I was hooked after the first couple of pages, I loved Zoe she was spunky and cute and a great female character with not a single TSTL moment to her name. Aaron of course I loved and I loved it when she hugged him because that's exactly what he needed, he was an interesting character with way more depth than I expected. Surprisingly good read, I'm thinking I might have to go back and check out the books I've missed.
Okay where so I start. It has great bones for a rewritten story. The conversations got a bit confusing to me I used the dictionary on more then a few words cuz I never seen them b4 to know what they met. It seemed to be rushed through and jumping around in places. The Dolan brothers grew up with an abusive father and always had to fight their battles arr home protecting their mother or at school with bullies but I dont think that is the cause of their whoring ways. This book starts with Arron and a 'ring bunny' that she actually calls out his brothers name (lol) but anyways Zoe (a new camera girl his boss hires to film their fights for DVD) and Arron in a way hit is off with in the a few chapters of actually meeting but Arron cant deal with anyone thats not a onenighter and he knows Zoe is more then that but he will get away from her fast and find someone else that is. He does sleep around later in the book with strippers (brothers are in Vegas of a fights) until Zoe still filming for their boss comes to Vegas and knows that she will be in his bed and come out of it with her heart broken in thousands of pieces. Will Arron stop is onenighters and fall for Zoe, win the big bucks to treat their dying mother or will the brothers lose everything they worked they way towards and be fighting for years to even make rent payments?
It was rather short, so therefore it was pretty fast paced. It seemed quirky to me. It had some drama but nothing heavy. The characters were deep, but it just didn't feel like they were deep into each other, yet I liked them together. I just don't know how to nail down my reaction to this book. I'm wondering if I should have waited to write the review, but I always want to give my immediate thoughts before I lose the overall effect. This was funny. It was full of action and dialogue. It had a lot of great elements, but I feel like it missed out on something that has to do with the connection between the protagonists. Funny thing is that I would recommend this for a good quick read because I enjoyed it and am looking forward to book two.
Aaron Dolan and his older brother Kyle are Irish Catholic bareknuckle fighters. Zoe Daniels is a down on her luck art graduate hired to film their fights. Zoe tells herself she'll never fall for a fighter but Aaron is difficult to resist because he’s much more than just a fighter. The more Zoe gets to see of Aaron the more she likes, she soon discovers the man underneath all the rage. I adored Zoe she was spirited and charming and a great female lead. Aaron had a lot of depth and character and these two meshed. A great quick read, this was my first book by Cara Nelson but I’m anxious to read more.
This was a little confusing for me. I don't enjoy 3rd person readings much but this book confused me when following the characters. It was a hate/love feeling for me. I liked the story in a way, but everything happened so quickly that before I knew it the story was down and I felt everything was rushed. I think the story could have been extended a little more. The timeline felt like everything happened in days and for what the story was about it felt unrealistic. I like liked Zoe. She's refreshing. Zoe has no filters and says it like it is. Aaron is old fashion Irish Catholic and Alpha-male. The chemistry was great but timing was too fast.
Kyle & Aaron Dolan grew up with a father that would beat both them and their mother until he was finally thrown out. The boys resorted to bareknuckle fighting. Zoe went to college and was just looking for a part time job to get a car. She never expected her literature degree to get her a job as a videographer for a man who ran fighting rings. Aaron saves Zoe unbeknownst to him that Zoe would one day save him!
I myself fell in love with the Dolan brothers! So glad I picked up this read! Everyone definitely needs to read it!!!!
Parts were okay, but there was a bit of confusion for me. This whole book takes place in the span of a few weeks so of course there's insta-love factored in. But if Kyle had a broken nose (or so I'm assuming since it said he had plaster on his nose) would they actually let him box only a couple days later? Whatever. Thankfully I got this free so I didn't have to pay for it. I'm not reading anymore in this series. Sorry, just not for me.
This book had some weird dialogue in language normal people don't use, like “I don’t like that rigid and archaic description of myself as a pre-feminist trope." Wth? Then at 50% in and Zoe and Aaron aren't together, and he's screwing other girls. I didn't connect to the characters so by 66% I was done.
This book was great! The main female character was hilarious, I could easily see being great friends with her. Other than that, for some reason this read like a novella. Perhaps because I thought the main female character was hilarious. Looking forward to reading the next one!
First book by this author. A good book with a good storyline. The characters were good. I didn't feel like i could connect with them like i have other characters. But still a good book.
