The Millionaire Menace
After four years, Marley King is back home in Polk County for her father's funeral, which she doesn't want to attend for various reasons. Her father was a legend in the city, so the church was packed beyond capacity, and everyone and their mama were in attendance. The first people she saw when she entered the church were her father's old enemies, Bishop Mafia, standing in the corner, all flashy in jewelry and all black clothing. Bishop Mafia consists of a crew led by a father and his three sons, Malice, Pope, and Don, who are all messed up in the head in different ways.
The Bishop boys were trained to be assassins from an early age and never taught how to love someone properly. Bishop told his sons never to have kids with random women because that could mess up their powerful bloodline. The boys tried to listen to Bishop's every order because they knew that if they didn't, they could one day feel his wrath.
When Bishop, the head of the Mafia, learns of Marley's return to Polk, he has an idea to take over the city he was once shunned from by creating a new joint heir. His plot directly involves Marley, the only seed of the once most powerful man in the town, Juke, who is now declared deceased.

I had to DNF at 7%. Ummm. I want (for some) Black authors to fully stop using anti-Black rhetoric in books because as a collective we should have moved past all of that. The classic "the FMC and her friend crew are the bestest vs all the
other girls because those hoes be jealous" is a staple in a lot of romances. But when it comes down to it this is why I DNFd....
"Some girls were picking on me by pulling my hair. They were jealous bc mine was long and theirs looked like Brillo pads."
Describing our hair as Brillo pads....is a choice. Making the hating girls have Brillo pad hair...is a choice.
The characterization of the FMC is already working my nerve a little bit. So by the time this line popped out I knew I wasn't moving forward.

Crazy
I don't know how to feel about this read. To me, it started and ended slowly. Bishop in this read was stupid if you ask me. How can someone think of abducting someone just so they can have their offspring. Sadly, he wants power that much to do something like that. I don't trust Zara, Tyler is slow streetwise, and I wish Marley had listened to her first mind and stayed home because I don't think she would've been in this predicament at this moment. I also think Zara is going to get pregnant and don't know who the father is between father and son.

This was an okay read. Bishop is really annoying and just plain stupid if you ask me.
Tyler is definitely dumb as hell. I don't understand people who want to intentionally struggle. Like are you okay? LOL I do believe that Pope and Marley were feeling each other though, so I hope in the next book, everything works out. Malice is weak and Don just seems off his rocker.

Le voy a dar 4.5 estrellas. La verdad, la verdad, la verdad, no llega a las cinco. Yo siento que no llega a cinco estrellas, pero sí me veo perfectamente dándole 4.5.
Este es el primer libro de una trilogía y, sinceramente, los personajes me quedaron debiendo muchísimo en esta primera parte. Siento que no llegué a entenderlos del todo porque había demasiadas cosas mezclándose entre sí.
Era como: te dicen una cosa, después te dan otra completamente diferente; te cuentan algo que pasa adelante y después te responden algo que había quedado atrás. Y todo se relacionaba de una manera que yo estaba como: ¿qué está pasando aquí? 😂
Por ejemplo, está todo el tema de que te tienen rabia, pero al mismo tiempo nadie te respeta; eres una princesa, pero nadie te trata como una princesa… aunque a veces sí te tratan como tal.
Y lo mismo me pasó con la protagonista. A veces sentía que era demasiado mojigata y después decía: ah, bueno, pues no era tan mojigata. Entonces era todo muy raro.
Pero aquí viene el problema: me interesó.
Era de esas historias que tú estás leyendo y piensas: “¿Qué estoy leyendo?”, pero sigues leyendo. 😂
Yo literalmente estaba así durante buena parte del libro: “¿Qué está pasando? ¿Por qué está pasando esto? ¿Y este personaje qué?”. Pero seguía avanzando porque quería saber qué demonios iba a pasar.
Y por eso mismo voy a buscarme el segundo libro y me lo voy a leer. Porque siento que este primer libro no te da suficiente contexto para entender realmente la personalidad de los personajes. No te da para decidir si son malos, si son buenos, si los respetas, si no los respetas, qué quieren o por qué actúan como actúan.

Creo que justamente por ser el primer libro de una trilogía, hay muchas cosas que todavía están en el aire. Y yo espero que en el segundo libro empiecen a aclarar todo eso, porque quiero entender a esta gente.
También siento que, en ciertos aspectos, la historia está como… ¿cuál de todos está peor? Porque hay tantas cosas pasando al mismo tiempo que llega un punto en el que simplemente aceptas el caos y sigues leyendo.
Pero, a pesar de todo, el libro está interesante. Muy interesante. Y eso es lo que hace que no pueda darle menos de 4.5.
No me veo dándole cinco estrellas, porque la historia estuvo demasiado loquísima. Yo decía: “¿Qué está pasando aquí?”. Fue hasta cómico en algunos momentos. 😂
Pero sí me veo leyendo el segundo, y eso para mí dice bastante.
Así que sí, le doy 4.5 estrellas. Como aquí solo puedo poner cuatro en la calificación, pues cuatro será, pero en mi cabeza son 4.5.
Sí te invito a leerlo, pero teniendo claro lo que te acabo de decir: no esperes que este primer libro te dé todas las respuestas ni que entiendas perfectamente a los personajes desde el principio. Hay que meterse en el caos y ver qué pasa en los siguientes libros.
Ahora necesito el segundo porque necesito saber qué demonios está pasando. 😂

Bishop is crazy! Pope is going to fall in love with Marley. Malice doesn’t care if it’s home or his brother.
Is Juke still alive??? Did Pope really take him out, or is there more to that story they’re not telling us yet. And that little noise she keeps hearing? Yeah… that’s not nothing. That’s a clue, but then again they want us to like he is alive.
And Zara? If she ends up pregnant by Don, that’s about to flip the whole storyline on its head. The tension is already thick, and a baby coming from the youngest twin.
I need answers too, but with this being a three‑book series, you already know they’re gonna string us along, drop hints, and then leave us hanging right when we think we’re getting clarity.
Off to book 2.

Ohhhh, this book had me ticked off, from the 1st page to the last page!!!…
The fact that Bishop thinks offering someone’s body up for his benefit is normal, made my stomach queasy!!!…
I truly hope Malice does not violate Marley like that!!!…
Zara is a wild child for sure and I hope she gets it together before it’s too late!!!…
I think Tyler and Malice are going to get together and he will probably be the one to set them both free!!!…Pope is going to slow his daddy down for sure, because Bishop knows he can’t play in someone face and act like everything is good!!!…
What is up with Don though!!!…He’s hot and cold and that temperament be throwing me all the way off!!!…
Is Marley’s dad in that house too!!!…

I love your books and this one gets no less love. Bishop is crazy as hell, Malice FAFO when Tyler did a number on him, Don is crazy like Bishop, but something is going to shake when he finds out Zara has been banging his dad, and last Pope who is really feeling Marley.
I see this as the sons taking out the dad because they each have found their one, and are no longer rocking and rolling with everything Bishop says and does.

So much going on in this book. Ain’t nothing like mafia ties. It’s not an arranged marriage this time but an arranged surrogate to combine families. Bishop is so evil and controlling. I don’t see why his sons stand up to him. I’m just pressed to read book 2.

First book by this author and I enjoyed it. I can’t wait till part 2. This whole family is a mess and the daddy is the leader of the pack. This daddy is horrible and I hope something is done about him. Because this last chapter had me highly upset. Marley girl when you and Tyler are free RUN AND DON’T LOOK BACK!!!!!

Bishop is getting on my nerves. You can't force somebody into your wicked family for your own selfish reasons. I think Malice, Don, & Pope are tired of their pops and will eventually stand up to him. On The Fence
I'm not sure yet how I feel about this sturyline. I get wanting to be King of the streets but Bishops plan for a bloodline seems ridiculous. I was entertained with how the girl interacted with the sons. I found it funny. I will read on to see if her father is still alive or not. I'm curious about that. Its just getting started so we'll see.
