Sin Noble is the President’s personal assassin, due to her unique ability to kill. What most don’t know is, he’s also her brother, and not at all the cuddly or loving kind, either. After surviving a difficult childhood and life on the streets, she adapted to her murder-for-hire lifestyle by going against nature and using her reaping powers to take enemies of the President before their time. As Death incarnate, Sin has the unique ability to alter the Death Design—the pattern that decides who should die, and when.
But tempting fate doesn’t come without a price. Or a questionable relationship with alcohol.
When she is sent by her brother to assassinate a suspected blackmailer, Sin soon realizes that the situation is more complicated than he let on. She is partnered with another employee of the President, Liam Sanders, whom she hates with a passion. When push comes to shove, that passion soon turns into something her hormones can’t refuse, and Sin can’t live without.
Constantly running up against her Supernatural fathers and sarcastic sisters, Sin’s tangled web of a mission reveals that The Covert is once again preying on all of the world’s inhabitants. Sin is desperate to discover the truth before she decides to take another life outside the Death Design. Will she be able to accomplish the impossible, while being pursued herself by mysterious dark forces? One thing is certain: no can escape their destiny. All will be revealed in the Death Design.
N.L Hoffmann is a paranormal romance author. She was born in Germany to her German native mother and her American soldier father. The family moved home to the states, where she grew up in a rural farm town in Michigan with her parents and two younger brothers. There, in her pre-teens, is when she began writing and developed her love for literature. Today, Hoffmann resides in Missouri with her husband and three children, where she published her first book Blood Slaves in January 2014. When Hoffmann isn't busy putting words on the page she enjoys reading, drawing, playing loving pranks on her husband, and spending time with her family.
This book was gifted to me..I loved "Death Design",Book 3 in the Daughters of Darkness series by N.L. Hoffmann(Releases 12/1/14) ... this story had a little bit of everything.. I loved the story line, the characters,it had mystery/adventure,plot twists, humor and romance.. Sin is Death,a Reaper, she is an assassin for the President, and she is also his sister.. she is paired with another assassin named Liam,to take out a target, something she doesn't like to do before their time, and yes,the sparks fly between Sin and Liam from the start..in this story she meets her sisters Blake and Jacey, and of course her fathers, one being Lucifer(just love Lucifer.. Lol),Together, would they finally take down the Covert this time with the Death Design ? ... The plot twists start early in this one,and you won't want to put it down when it starts,I didn't ! I don't do spoilers or delve into the story line too much,in this one I could give away too much. I want the reader to read this book, and let it take them on an adventure, but I also urge them to read "Blood Slaves" and "Shadow Cursed"(Books one and 2 in the Daughters of Darkness series)first, to show how the story line gets to this point ...In this series you will meet all kinds of characters..Vampires,Shifters,Shadows,Reapers,and a few others that may surprise you.. if you love paranormal romance, check out this series, you will be glad you did...
To all of my Goodreads friends please heed my advice and pick up "The Daughters of Darkness" series by N.L. Hoffmann. It is a romping good time and you seriously will thank me for the recommendation later.
"Death's Design" is the third and what feels like the final book in this series and introduces us to Lucifer and Aden's third daughter, Sinese aka 'Sin' Noble. Like her two other sisters she grew up pretty much alone but was rescued by her brother, Reed, none other than the President of the United States. However, like most politicians, Reed, is a slippery snake and uses Sin's ability as death to carry out assassinations for him. Unfortunately, those assassinations often go against death's design.
To make matters worse, Sin is being guarded by sexy but arrogant Liam, who she feels only wants to make her another notch on his belt and her Bff, Seth refuses to take their relationship further than friendship. She is so alone until she meets her two sister's, Blake and Jacey. But, can she trust them? As Sin attempts to maneuver through the shark infested waters of the paranormal communities it is clear that a major battle is on the horizon and she has to choose a side. The problem is which side to choose?
This book is full of mysterious characters with hidden agendas that it is difficult to know who to fully trust. Additionally, Sin is oftentimes her own worst enemy; but, considering her upbringing who could blame her? With two baby daddies, and Medusa as a mother who wouldn't be a little deranged?
While I enjoyed this book, this plot was a tad bit convoluted at times. Too many mythical characters and not enough continuity. Greek gods, Lucifer, God, Vampires, Weres and demons oh my, can be a bit much. However, it did not distract from my enjoyment of the book or series. This book felt like the end of the series but I'm not sure. So, N. L. if you're reading this, let me know what's up. No matter what happens or doesn't happen with this series, N.L. Hoffmann is definitely an author that I will be keeping on my radar!
Book 3 in the Daughters of Darkness series, but I don't feel like you'd miss anything if you read them out of order...
Sin (full name Sinese) Noble - OK, LOVE that name!- is not only the President’s personal assassin, she's also his sister. She's also.....Death herself, complete with scythe - Love that! I also love that she cuts the heads off of models in magazines and puts them on pictures of her brother's body. LMAO
She's annoyed by another assassin, Liam Sanders, and also turned on by him. She annoys him with constantly coming onto him. I really liked this dynamic, b/c it's usually the guy who keeps after the woman, so I dig that Hoffmann's stories have strong women who are sexually sure of themselves. Major plus!
Sin meets her sisters, Blake and Jacey (from books 1 and 2) and also her father, Lucifer. He's as crazy and kooky as ever, but Sin doesn't bond right away with her sisters like Blake and Jacey did.It takes awhile, and the Covert that they were fighting the whole time has even more secrets revealed.
Blake might still be my favorite sister, but Sin is a close second. She's smart, sassy, does her job a bit too well, but at least she's human enough to feel remorse. And I love who her mother is!
N.L. Hoffmann has continually surprised me throughout The Daughter's Of Darkness Series, and after falling in Love with the feisty daughter's of Lucifer, I could not wait to get my hands on a copy of the third and final installment within the series; Death Design. As soon as the ARC hit my inbox I quickly opened it up abandoning all of my other current working projects and tucked straight in..........Who will the 3rd Daughter and Sister to Blake (DOD #1) and Jacey (DOD #2) be?
Death Design by N.L Hoffmann continues to transition the main plot theme from novel to novel in the series with a fluidity and grace allowing you to easily remember just where you were are up to at the end of Shadow Cursed #2, making the opening pages of Death Design #3 somewhere you feel right at home, as if you never left! Following the story of the third and final sister Sin Noble, we discover straightaway that she has quite a bit of knowledge about who she is, or so she thinks....... As sister to the President of the United States, Sin's gifts have been used and overly taken advantage of at times in order to "protect" the President's affairs of State. Part of a "Security Team/Hit Woman Team" of Sorts she has been placed on assignment with her least favourite person Liam Saunders in order to take out a suspected blackmailer.
Each sister has unique powers and Sin is no different, she is in fact Death herself, A Reaper who is able to take the souls of those who have just died and pass them over to either their peace or to their judgment. But Sin is no ordinary Reaper, she is able to go against the Death Design and take a person's soul before their time but with each soul she takes the price keeps getting higher and higher, and even though she had made her thoughts perfectly clear to her brother, he still keeps sending her on missions. Because she never knew her father and was brought up by an awful mother, Sin lived on the street for a very long time, that was until her brother showed up and found her explaining they shared a father and that he would take her in effectively taking her off the streets. Because of this although she seems to have a Love/Hate relationship with him, she is still loyal because she believe she owes him for what he did. With such a complicated past combined with the toll on her both emotionally and physically from being a Reaper it is easy to see why Sin finds solace at the bottom of a bottle.
Liam is one cocky son of a b*t@h, confident, striking, tall, a born ladies man with a Southern charm, and someone who exudes pure masculine raw sex appeal. On top of all that he isn't human, but yet even though Sin as a Reaper should be able to identify what species, she draws a blank with Liam, he is a pure mystery. Wrap all of that together and you have a perfectly oiled, tight spring of a man that is dangerous........ Sin hates to work with him because of his whoreish ways but yet senses there is more to everything than meets the eye about him, and not just because she cannot figure out what supernatural being he is. On the road to meet their target the close quarters force Sin to listen to Liam and his constant flirty banter, something than normally just annoys her, but this time something is different, somehow the connection between the two has changed and although he continues to flirt and badger her to at least go out with him just once on a date, she begins to feel some serious sexual vibes from him that heat up her blood and spark her interests all over her body, but unable to admit how she feels she continues to keep her walls up.
Once they arrive at the motel that the suspect is staying at, Sin gets out and sets foot onto a pathway that not even she in her wildest of dreams could have ever foreseen. Surrounded by lies, secrets, supernatural beings and the fact that everyone seems to know exactly who she is, someone even she doesn't know she is, finding out about her sisters, meeting Lucifer, understanding the true scope of her powers, meeting others of her kind and discovering her destiny all whilst being surrounded by not one but several hot hunky men all vying for her attention all the while her hormones and sex drive go on high alert (Phew! Now That's A LOT to take in! and that's not everything?...........(No Spoilers Here I'm Afraid)) will have Sin trying quickly to figure out just who is on her side because not everyone is who they seem and someone she thought she could trust has nothing but bad intentions for her.....
Can Blake and Jacey convince Sin to join them and fulfil their united destiny? Or will someone stand in their way in order to convince Sin she doesn't need them? Will they all get out of this alive.....? Because once the final sister is found and united with her sisters regardless of whether she joins them or not the countdown to the Death Design's final move cannot be stopped and everyone has their price to pay......especial Sin Noble............................
Loved it, Loved it, Loved it!! It's a huge shame it's the end of the series and I implore N.L Hoffmann to write more in the series because there is so much more that could be expanded upon! If 6 Stars could be awarded for this novel and the series I would happily give it but unfortunately universally we can only go up to 5. So it is with great pleasure I can award Death Design (Daughter's Of Darkness #3) by N.L Hoffman a full 5*****Stars for one hot and steamy fantasy romance novel!
This is book 3 in The Daughters of Darkness Series and each book got better and better!
Sin is Death Incarnate. She is supposed to follow the Death Design. Instead her brother, the President, has her running around as his personal assassin taking lives that he sees fit. It goes against everything inside Sin since Death is supposed to decide who is to go and when. She really doesn’t have a choice though. Her brother is using her hidden abilities against her.
When her brother, Reed sends her on a new assignment along with Liam, she learns more than she bargained for. Not only does she discover that Reed is not really her brother, she learns that one of her fathers is the Devil himself and that she has two sisters. That’s just the tip of the information iceberg. So many things are revealed to Sin. Including things about Liam. Now, she loathes the man. She sees him as a player. He has been trying to get into her pants for as long as they have worked together. Not only is Liam trying to seduce her, but some other dark force is trying as well. When all Hell breaks loose, what will Sin do?
I love Sin’s story. All the sisters in this series are hilarious and strong. Sin is by far my favorite of the three. She has no filter what so ever and it makes for some funny moments. Liam, I just love him. He turns out to surprise me and I like that in a book. The story keeps you on edge wondering what is going to happen next. This is a paranormal book so we have lots of hot Alpha males of different species in it. *fans self* Lucifer…OMG so freakin hilarious! The banter between him and his daughters left my sides hurting from laughter. He’s been an absent father to his daughters but he makes up for it when the time comes.
The story is well written. I love the characters. I may or may not have crushes on many of the men. I may or may not be jealous of the women! All in all, this was a great series. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys humor, suspense, paranormal and lots of sexy moments.
Ohhh my goodness, N.L. Hoffmann has done it again with the third book of Daughters of Darkness! I loved how Sin is yet another strong female character and how she has to overcome so much. Sin is working for her brother, who happens to be the president and he has her doing some not nice things. Sin is curious to why he has her doing this certain job, which leads to more unanswered questions to what he is up to. She is working with Liam, who also works for her brother. He is some very hot and sexy cowboy that makes you want to grab him out of the book for yourself hot. They do not meet eye to eye and more often than not arguing. There is so many twists and turns into this story that what you think might happen may not. Sin meets her sisters and is at first not to thrilled with them, but realizes that she will have to trust them, because of the death design. So many things happen in this fantastic story and I so do not want to give anything away. I forget to mention, Lucifer is back!! Oh my the things he pulls and does will have you laughing so hard! I have to say this story has it all, intrigue, suspense, romance, shocking twists, and comedy!!! This book was a great end to the trilogy without a doubt!
This is the third book in the Daughters of Death series. Sin Noble is the president’s sister and his personal assassin. She is able to tell when someone is going to die. She learns all kinds of things about them while she is with them during their death. Including whether they are going to heaven or hell. She is forced by her brother to do things she doesn’t want to do. She feels like she has no choice, if she says no he will out her to America. Her brother wants her to go get info from this guy and then kill him. She tells him that she can’t change the design of death, which a lie. She doesn’t want to kill anyone though. She hates what he makes her do. He sends another one of his men, Liam with her to make sure she does what she is supposed to do. Sin is attracted to Liam but fights it. While doing what her brother wants her to do she learns all kinds of new things about herself. She learns she has two sisters and the person she is after is part of a case they have been trying to solve for a while. She figures out that she needs to work with them if she wants to learn the truth. Blake and Jacey knew that they had a third sister and that when they found her something big would happen. They help Sin figure out what she is and her place in the supernatural world. They find out that Sin is a reaper but not just any reaper the leader of the reapers. Her people have been waiting for her for a while. Now that they have found her that want to help her anyway they can. Will Sin be able to help Jacey and Blake? What will happen with Sin and Liam? How is the president involved in all of this? I really loved this book. Again lots happened in this one just like the others. They wrap a lot of things up in this book. The characters continue to work wonderfully together. Sin is forced to do all kinds of things so doesn’t want to do by her brother or rather who she thinks is her brother. All though he would be the worst brother in the world if he was her real brother and asked or made her do the things he does. He only cares about how she can help him not about her. Liam has been in love with Sin since he first met her. She can normally tell what kind of supernatural someone is right away but she can’t figure out what he is. They fight their feelings for each other for multiple reasons. One is the president would never allow them to be together. But, once Sin meets her sisters he knows that won’t be a problem anymore. He lets her know how he feels and tells her what he is. She is amazed by what he is. I was as well. He lets her know that she is his mate and that he mates for life. Sin’s life is completely turned upside down in this book. She comes out stronger and better in the end though. This was a fantastic book as well a fantastic series. Lots of twist and turns in this book. The characters all go through so much. I was given this book in return for an honest review.
Bring your sense of humor with you for this one and leave reality at the door! Sin Noble is an assassin for the President. Not just any old assassin, mind you, she's his sister. A fact which he only recently revealed to her. An assassin who cuts out bodies from glamour magazines and places different heads on them, like her brother's...most especially her brother's. See what I mean now about your sense of humor? Sin is also Death, yup, the real deal complete with a scythe and the ability to take a soul. She lives in fear of messing up the Death Design, basically the design that determines who would die and when. However, the President could care less about the Death Design and wants her to assassinate people, taking them before their time, and he has another job for her. This time he is going to send Liam Sanders with her. Sin is attracted to Liam, and he knows it. Being Sin, she does everything possible, and a little more, to irritate him, as Liam tries to be by the book, doing what the President wants no matter what. In typical N.L. Hoffman style, this story will have you laughing out loud at Sin's antics as she tries to find out what is really going on (because after all who really trusts the President), while at the same time wanting to punch out a character or two. Sin meets, and is somewhat underwhelmed, by her two sisters, Jacey and Blake, because Sin doesn't need anybody. The introduction to her real mother and fathers (yes, plural, one of whom is Lucifer, is enough to confuse anybody. Action, suspense, passion and humor are all packed into one great package as the Death Design, and the extent of Sin's powers are revealed. I've got to say I loved the twists and turns in this one, and although confusing at times, all will be revealed in the end. The end, did I say I really loved the ending too? Unfortunately, Death Design brings the final curtain down on the Daughters of Darkness series, and this ultimate dysfunctional family we have come to love. Or does it? With N.L. Hoffman, I doubt anybody can guess where they will pop up next (maybe out of a cake in Speedos?).
Holy Shit.. Where has this book series been in my life!!!!?!?!?! Hoffmann’s legacy of strong female characters could rival characters such as Anita Blake or Gin Blanco. Each character comes with their own deeply enriched dark backstory. There’s so much to say about these books that I don’t even know where to start my review of the final book
Death Design’s leading female character is Sin. She is literally Death Incarnate. She is the President’s assassin and sister as well she holds the ability to change death’s pattern. Her partner in assassin-y crime on her latest mission is Liam. It wouldn’t be a dark tempting treat of a story without a littler attraction between the two assassins. But, what Sin doesn’t realize is that she isn’t alone in the world.
She has two sisters, Blake and Jacey, whom were the leading females of the other two books in the series. Which means… she’s Lucifer’s daughter as well? Holy plot twists batman! Hoffman knows when to pull the proverbial rug out from under you. She doesn’t wait until the middle or end the book to hit you with some rock solid truth either. These twists come fast and soon in this book. Can these newly reunited sisters join together to finally defeat the Covert?
I know that I do not often pass out more than a 5 star review, but this book is one of the rare few that deserve that illusive 6th star. As I said before I wish I had known about this series early because it surely would have made my top 10 best series of all time and that means a lot coming from the great book nerd that is me. If you are looking to start something new or in need of really good, can’t put it down read then look no further than the Daughters’ of Darkness Series!
I received a free copy of this novel in exchange for my honest review.
Death Design is Book three of The Daughters of Darkness series. In this part of the series, we’re introduced to Sinese Noble, Sin for short. She works for her brother, Reed, the President of the United States and a very powerful Warlock, as his own personal assassin. She is a reaper, assisting people to the other side. In aiding her brother, she’s repeatedly broken the rules for death by ending lives before their time. Now he wants her to find out what Cason has on him and kill him. The job takes her to Lansing, where she finds out the truth of her heritage, meets her sisters, and fights the fight of her life. Will she accept who she really is? Where does Liam fit in all of this?
This was a fantastic series! Usually when I read a series, there’s one guy that completely stands out for me. But this time, they each had something that I liked. I loved the personality that the author gave Lucifer. He wasn’t scary at all, just ridiculously silly. Don’t get me wrong though, you wouldn’t want to anger him. I think all three daughters get that from him. The romance blossoms between Sin and Liam, at first it came across as a game for both of them until Sin finally gave in. I think the more she fought her feelings, the deeper in love she fell.
There aren't enough words to say how wonderful this series is. This is a must read for all Urban Fantasy and Paranormal Romance lovers!
The conclusion to The Daughters of Darkness Series, is a riveting chase. You don’t know if you are taking the right or wrong path and aligning with the correct side or should I say Supernatural’s. I absolutely loved the interweaving of the characters from the first two books, and the twists and turns revealing who some characters really are. The car races were riveting and the concept of the Death Design was epic and most certainly something I hadn’t read before. I love this Paranormal series which inhales all kinds of supernatural, from vampires, werewolves, demons, demigods, fairies, dragons and so much more. I must note my disappointment when the main heroine, Sin, doesn’t eventually embrace the hellhound that is so fond of her. That little guy had me laughing the whole way. I loved Sin’s character because she was indeed damaged and it showed through her drinking problem, it made it very real. I read this book in almost one sitting, and am only sad that it has now concluded the series. With sexual tension, humour, bad-ass sisters, cocky-men and sexual pleasure, this book and series is a must read.

I just can't enough of this series!! I love the sisters and just adore and love Lucifer. This story is funny, erotic, and action packed! I loved getting to know each sister in her own story and then revisit them in the next sisters story. The powerful sisters all daughters of Lucifer have unique gifts of their own. Together I doubt anyone will be able to stand up to them. I love the strong and funny female characters. I just want to hang out and have a few drinks and loads of laughs with them. Hoffmann gave each sister her own story without sacrificing the one main goal of all the sisters. The little quirks Lucifer have in the stories make me giggle! I can't tell you who my favorite BBF is from these books. Each introduction of a new male character always seemed just a little better than the last and left me wanting them all!! I can't wait to find out where Hoffmann takes us in her next book.
I have fallen in love with this series. In this third book, we finally get to meet the third Noble sister, and we learn more of the destiny of the trio of paranormal sisters. With a name like Sin, what would you expect from a daughter of Lucifer than an ability centered around Death?
Sin is an assasin for her "brother" and he turns out to be a not so nice guy, and then add in some nasty new info about Nick and we have a whole team of bad guys that need to go down a notch! The Noble sisters are all in this book and we get to see some more of the snarky sass that I LOVE in this series. I literally re-read things to laugh at the comebacks in these books. I really love the way Hoffmann has created this world of tragedy and yet we get to see all the silver linings that even Aden would be proud of! LOVE this series and I would give it more than 5 stars if I could! ~Dowie
This is the third book in the series and I loved it the most! Mystery man visiting, Sin coming into her powers, more sexy men(oh happy day), Lucifer and Aden, cute demon children, and much more. I had numerous favorite scenes, but I really loved each time Lucifer appeared! The author left nothing hanging from the last two books, (Blood Slaves #1 and Shadow Cursed #2) Will Nick finally come to an end? Can Sin "man up" and fall in love? I am highly recommending this series. The author is one of top 5 to watch and read. Thank you for such a wild ride, I am waiting for more to come!! (It can be a stand alone read but other two books recommended)
Two chapters into the book and the supernatural elements are pleasantly flawless. It helps that I am actually cackling aloud! I already love Sin's amusing antics and she has a more mature vibe that calms me.
Sin is definitely the "loner" of the sisters, and takes longer to come into her element. Liam is ever so sweet.
I never found out what part if the supernatural realm Brian belonged and I hate leaving mysteries unsolved.
There is a revelation in the end to tie in all 3 sisters that I absolutely loved. It's worth the read.
A nice finish to the "Daughter's of Darkness" series.
The three daughters of Lucifer come together to defeat his wayward (and accidentally released) brother.
A fun trilogy. Each book introduces one of Lucifer's daughters. Each daughter had a special talent thanks to their different mothers.
In the final installment, we meet Sin, a reaper forced to claim souls ahead of time on behalf of her manipulative brother, Reed. Things change when she's asked to get Intel on Cason, a handsome, mysterious stranger who may interfere with Reed's political aims. During this assignment, she meets two powerful women who claim to be her sisters.
The series was fun to read. Perhaps a little too much focus on male "hotness", but kept me entertained.
Death Design begins with Sin going a mission for her brother. She's tired of going on these missions, and she's tired of the man she thought she knew making passes at her, but still sticking by her brothers side. She hates this, and just wants it all to be over.
But, when her case leads her to finding out she has two sisters, and is part of a scheme to get rid of a horrible evil, then she must decide who she really trusts, and what her next move is.
This book was not as good as the first two at all. I liked it, but I had a really hard time liking Sin. She sort of drove me nuts, and it really bugged me. I hated how she acted half the time. But, other than that I liked the guy she got with, and I really liked the rest of this one and how it ended as well.
I wasn't sure that she was going to top a shadow, but she did with Sin and her being a reaper. This book had the funny and I enjoyed it lots though the hint of a love triangle bothered me a bit since I rarely think they are done in a way that doesn't annoy me. Oh and I like the name Gideon better than Seth too.
Again, I have to say, this was a great book. I didn't love this character quite as much as the other two, but the story was great. Again, there were some grammar flaws; not as many as book 2, they were hard to overlook which is unfortunate because it distracts from the story.
