The cruel, power hungry Laird O’Gunn sent Thomas Kilmartin, Laird of Clan MacFair, a missive announcing his intention to marry Thomas’ youngest sister Eileen. Trying to figure out a way to refuse O’Gunn without having him declare war on their clan, Reid Kilmartin rode off to meet with Archer Fleming, Laird MacLennon, hoping to gain information on how to thwart O’Gunn. When Reid did not return home in what she considered a reasonable time, Eileen dressed as a young man and headed into MacLennon territory to discover what happened to her brother. It did not take long for the rakish Laird MacLennan to see through her disguise and she soon became a guest at his castle. He agreed to help her find her brother if she would pretend to be his betrothed. And so began their journey filled with witty banner, battles of wills and steamy encounters. Meanwhile it was apparent that O’Gunn had spies in Archer’s castle. Danger lurked, and murders and kidnappings took place before the betrayers were discovered. When Archer wasn’t busy saving the day, he and Eileen were fighting their feelings for each other. This story has it all.., action, betrayal, rescues, near death experiences, steamy bedroom scenes, familial issues, emotional distress and reluctant love. Calum is the steadfast man-at-arms and Ivy is an energetic force to be reckoned with, but it is the fear of loss that rules this tale. Beware, this story is so good that once you start reading you will not be able to put it down!

Eileen has a few issues, one main cause. She has a Laird trying to claim her hand publicly before speaking to her, she has no desire to be married to this man. Now her brother who went out to speak to a different Laird has not come home yet and she’s worried. Unfortunately, her other brother, the Laird, will not let her go see if he was captured. So, she did what she thought was best and did it anyway. She disguised herself and left without telling anyone. Unfortunately, she is found out by the neighboring Laird, who doesn’t let others know who or what she is. But she is not deterred by him from her mission.
Great read, absolutely love the story and the characters, especially Eileen. She is smart, but also quick to let her heart lead even when her brain hasn’t thought it through first.

A missing brother, a proposition and a chase that will bring a Laird down to his knee. When Eileen infiltrates Laird Archer's clan in search of her brother she had no idea the course her life was going to take but when Archer captures her and makes a deal, she has no choice but to agree. Will their thirty-day betrothal lead them along the path to happiness. This story takes you back intime with the descriptive writing of Mackenna's and had me connecting with the characters from start to finish.

Betrayal

Archer and Eileen are two strong willed, hardheaded people. Determined to take over her life Eileen finds herself in drama, danger and in life. Archer as a Laird finds himself in turmoil and despair as he clearly has traitors in his castle he needs to find! Enjoyable read and I highly recommend it.

A strong lass

Eileen comes to the clan lands looking for her brother Reid when Archer realizes that the young lad in the pub is really a lass. Eileen is taken to his castle as his betroved when they find out how many of the clan members are being paid by the evil Laird. Eileen and Archer fought their feelings and each other to figure out what they needed to do with their future.

nice story

I really enjoyed this book. I adore the characters Maddie created! I found it realistic how they slowly grew to know each other. I also likes siblings as side stories just to add a little adventure.

Daring rescue

Eileen true to find her brother and ends up meeting Laird Archer who is a rake. They don't get along but he says he will protect her from Laird O'Gunn who wants to marry her. There are traitors in his clan who must be found. A lovely story. A great series
