Oh shiiiiiiit! Okay the ending reveal aside, this manga is so sweet and I adore how they are opening up and trying to communicate more about steps in their relationship. They are really sweet.
"I know it was me who built up that image of you as someone without any flaws. But you don't have to be perfect for me to still think you're great! Okay?"
I really enjoyed this volume!
I was surprised that it wasn't as romantic as I thought it would be, considering Hotaru told Hananoi right at the end of the previous volume that she didn't want to go home! However, I think it shows how perceptive Hananoi is in that he KNEW something was wrong and was wanting and happy to be there for her. Granted, we see moments of longing in both of them, but this volume felt more like seeing the "bigger picture" outside of these two romance, and I appreciated it.
Don't get me wrong! If it had been focused on romance, I would have been happy with that too! But seeing the backstory of a certain character, Hotaru realizing changes coming soon, and Hotaru's Dad talking with Hananoi, I loved how so many familial characters were involved on page!
Based on the ending though, I think a plot twist is about to drop and I'm not sure how to feel just yet because I think it will be pretty upsetting for one character...
when I heard this was getting an anime and decided to check it out, i did not realize just how much of an amazing manga this was. from the art style (this one is soooo soo pretty) to the actual plot (literally every character is a green flag, you can't hate anyone ) this is just AMAZING!!!
The sweet development of Hotaru and Saki is just adorable max overload 🥹🦋✨️✨️ The way Hotaru learned what it is to be loved and Saki slowly learns to realize that people might leave and he needs to get to understand that? peak character arc honestly. i could never do this justice in a review so everyone: GO READ IT NOW 🥹🫶💖💘💌✨️💕😭📸
Do you want to know what I love? This series. These characters. They're all so precious and I love them so much. They're so honest with each other, and it makes my heart happy.
Quel merveilleux moment !
This was yet another wonderful addition to the series. At this point, I almost don’t know what more to say—except that once again, there isn’t a single thing to complain about.
I adore Saki and I adore Hotaru! They are beautifully written teenagers doing what teenagers do: explore, explore, and explore. I truly wish more young people could experience a love like theirs—one rooted not just in feelings, but in communication. This series consistently shows that love isn’t just about butterflies—it’s about learning to speak, to listen, and to grow together. And that’s powerful.
The bonus chapter focused on Hotaru’s older sister was an absolute gem. So often, side character stories feel like filler or padding, but not here. Just like with other characters in previous volumes, these chapters genuinely enrich the narrative. They give depth not only to the main storyline but to the supporting cast in ways that make the whole story feel more real and emotionally layered.
Also, I have to say this—Megumi Morino, if you’re listening: please let Yukihiro-san be endgame for Kagari-san! Who said only brooding, mysterious “bad boys” make for interesting love interests? I love good guys. I want more of them in manga. Give me kind. Give me steady. Give me warm and grown-up. Forget grumpy—I want tender.
So yes, high praise once again for the story, the pacing, and the art—which continues to be stunning in its emotional nuance and visual storytelling. I’m very much looking forward to what the next arc might bring. We’ve already been given a hint, and I can’t wait to see it unfold.
Hotaru's older sister is moving out, which puts her in a tailspin of wanting to avoid home while also wanting to spend more time with Hanananoi - so clearly the answer is to ask to spend the night with her boyfriend? Usually this would imply they're alone at his apartment, but it seems he's visiting family for the holidays, so they've got grandma and a few other people roaming around as well. Fortunately, it seems Hotaru gets along with his family, Hotaru's father isn't too pleased with her coming home the next morning. Fortunately, it seems they are able to connect over Hotaru being the most important person to both of them or that could have ended up rather badly. It seems perhaps Hanananoi may know Hotaru's grandfather though? Or at least that seems to be the implication at the end of this volume.

This volume was filled with a lot of discussions about the future and how things change. Hotaru and Hananoi are growing so much! And in a new development, it appears that Saki’s mysterious friend is probably Hotaru’s absentee grandfather. I’m very curious, because Hotaru saw him with Saki but clearly didn’t recognize him…so was he hanging around to see his family without letting them know because he knew his son disliked him? Very interesting. Too bad this is how Saki finds out his old friend is gone, but I’m glad there’s some closure there - I wondered who he would turn out to be.
Hananoi and Hotaru are growing as people and their relationship is growing stronger! Hotaru stayed with Hananoi at his grandma’s house and they fell asleep in the kotatsu, that was so cute! Hananoi goes to have lunch to Hotaru’s place and make takoyaki, Hotaru’s dad tells Hananoi that he hated his father because he was a journalist and was never home, and he wasn’t able to see his mother before she died, then Hotaru’s mom tells Hananoi that he died two years ago, but then we found out that Hotaru’s grandfather is Hananoi’s friend?? That was such a twist

Hotaru and Saki are starting to think about what comes next in their relationship and I really appreciate the fact that they are starting to communicate more about what they want, what the feel, what they expect from each other. A pretty good volume with a cliffhanger at the end!
After being recommended this manga, I have really enjoyed reading it these past few weeks. It's sad to say goodbye to this manga for now, until the next volume is translated, but I'm excited to see the anime in the coming months. One of my favorite shoujo manga ever.
This volume ✨ this series is slowly getting the status reputation of Kimi Ni Todoke of shojos in my humble opinion. A different coming of age learning about romance and lots of discussions, lots of communication, and that's fantastic 🤌🏽🌟✨
I love how smoothly the story flows. Each but feels so natural as the story developers. Even though it's mostly slice of life there's still interesting intrigue and deeper developments along the way.
