Computer genius and frozen yogurt store owner, Barry Furnukle, hasn’t had a girlfriend in fifteen months, two weeks, and three days. Not that he’s counting. And even though his new beautiful neighbor, Amber Lewis, is way out of his league and has a beefy, tattooed boyfriend, he can’t help but wish she’d notice him. After Barry sees Amber’s boyfriend with another woman, he knows she deserves so much better—a guy who will treat her right. But how will he prove he’s more than just the nice guy next door?

By all means, unleash the stud!!! Kylie Gilmore’s newest addition to the Clover Park gang may be the hottest yet. In this prequel and novel, we get reacquainted with Barry Furnukle, he of the dancing cow we met in the previous novel, Bad Taste in Men. Who knew what hotness was lurking just below his geeky surface? Certainly not Amber Lewis, his pink-haired, bad-boy lovin’ next door neighbor. As far as Amber is concerned, Barry is “just friends” material: perfect for watching cheesy zombie movies with, but definitely not for dating. Barry, however, is nothing if not persistent. He pulls out all the stops to prove he’s every bit as exciting as those biker types Amber seems drawn to. Hey, none of them became a pirate for her, did they?
Gilmore once again pulls the reader in with two wonderfully relatable lead characters, and then ramps up the sexual heat between them until it’s just about necessary to fan yourself. Further, she surrounds them with a vibrant supporting cast chock full of hilarious antics as well as a few surprises. In fact, for me, the supporting casts Ms. Gilmore creates in her novels is as big a draw as her protagonists. There are no boring, cookie-cutter characters to be found in Clover Park.
And to think, Barry is just the first stud she’s unleashing for us. I can’t wait to meet the rest.
Gotta love a Geeky Romance.. Berry is so sweet and charming you just want to hug him all day. Looking forward to seeing what happens next for him and Pink Hair.
I give Almost Dating by Kylie Gilmore Five Stars. This is book .5 of the Clover Park Studs series. If you love romantic comedies that will have you laughing out loud at every turn you will love this book. This is a very quick read and is very well written. Kylie will have you hooked on the characters immediately and you will be rooting for them in the end.
Barry Furnukle is a computer genius who has decided to try his hands at having a frozen yogurt business. Barry is pleasantly surprised when he gets a look at his new neighbor Amber Lewis. It was lust at first sight for Barry and he immediately felt the need to get to know her on a personal level.
Amber Lewis is an artist with pink hair that has a thing for bad boys. When she meets her new geeky neighbor Barry she immediately thinks he is going to be a great friend to hang out with and nothing else. Barry however has other plans for them and he can be very persistent. Well Amber keep falling for the bad boy types that keep breaking her heart? Or will Barry be able to prove to her that geeky men like himself can be as exciting as the bad boy type.
SCORE: Stars: 4(out of 5) for overall story Chilies: 0 (out of 5) for heat between the sheets/or anywhere else – for this installment at least

REVIEW: This little novella is the beginning to a new series by Kylie Gilmore. I found it to be a fun read. It’s basically a Geek falls for the Artist neighbor story. I found it to be a great start to this series and I have already purchased the next installment.
This one falls under the ‘Perfect Lunchtime Read’ category for me. It’s a fast, fun read!
I read this novella and the follow on story Almost in Love. I thoroughly enjoyed both books but felt that they could have easily been combined into the one story. However, I didn't like how the main female character treated the main male character. She quickly friend zoned him and didn't give him a chance until he looked and acted like the stud that she wanted. I understand that some females do this in real life but it turned out to be a main theme throughout both novellas. Despite this, it was still an enjoyable read.
An alright short story. I'm not sure the characters or storyline is developed enough for me to continue the story, overall a good taster if the series and had a couple of funny moments.
I am just not a fan of the male role having to look a certain way for the female lead to notice him. Would've been good if the geek was a geek who grew on the woman. Too much emphasis on his physique and not enough on his personality for my liking.
After the loss of his father, Barry Furnukle has decided to move back to his old home town to be close to his mother. He is a genius computer programmer with big dreams of having a successful fro-yo shop called the Dancing Cow. I loved Barry for his openness to experience different things. He is the loveable nerd who just wants to find someone to share his life with. His attentions turn to the artsy blonde with pink streaks named Kate.
Barry is instantly smitten with Kate but knows he can’t compete with her current tattooed, well- built boyfriend. Barry sets out to make changes to catch her attention. What he does wins my heart and keeps me laughing and cringing at the same time.
This is a great introduction to Barry and Kate’s story.
Stud Unleashed: The Prequel, is a great novella that tells the story of how Barry and Amber meet. Barry is pretty much "in love at first sight", but unfortunately for him, Amber has a boyfriend and thinks of Barry as a friend. This is a cute introduction to the story that is continued in Stud Unleashed: Barry.
This prequel tells us how Barry and Amber meet. It's love at first sight for him but for her, he's just the cute geeky guy across the hall. She has a boyfriend and isn't interested in anything but friendship. When you start spending a lot of time with someone, feelings sometimes start to grow into more. Read Stud Unleashed: Barry for the rest of the story.

A perfect beginning to the series!I was immediately hooked; I laughed and my curiosity was definitely piqued and I HAD to read more.A quick read, it is an EXCELLENT peek into the world of the STUDS. (I just finished Barry's book and I LOVED IT!!!) This prequel is a wonderful sample of the STUD-ness to come!
Cute prequel. Definitely will keep reading. Barry sounds like a nice guy. Gotta love the idea of him working out for those six-pack abs. Pink Hair, aka Amber, might just be in for an awesome time and more than friendship. Sounds like we're in store for a fun evening. Maybe I'll even let them turn on some zombies...

Almost dating is the story of how Barry and Amber meet. He falls in love with her right away. But to Amber he is just the Geeky Guy down the hall. She has a boyfriend and is only interested in being his friend. But when you spend a lot of time with someone sometimes feelings change! This is the prequel to stud unleashed you need to read it in order to get the rest of the story.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This is my first read by Kylie Gilmore and it most definitely won't be my last. Sexy, funny, captivating, Almost Dating will keep you turning the pages.
