Struck Down

When my fiance left me at the alter, I thought nothing could be worse.

I was wrong.

I wanted to leave my hum-drum life. I wished for an adventure, a way to escape.

I should have been careful what I wished for.

Now he has me. I can't run. I can't escape. Every time I try to build myself back up, he strikes me down.

He's intent on making me his. The worst part? I'm thinking about letting him.

... I'm not sure who I am anymore.

Renee was just dumped by her fiance the day before their wedding. Wanting some time to herself, she decides to go hiking on her own for a couple of months. Her form of transportation ... hitchhiking. Her family and best friend warned her it wasn't safe, but she was determined to do it anyway. She made it one day before she's grabbed, drugged, thrown into the trunk of a car and sold as a slave.

Grif has spent a number of years training slaves for wealthy men and women. He was good at his job and made enough money to retire from the business. Renee will be the last slave he trains, and she's being trained for him to keep as his own. If she'll give him her total obedience, he will treat her good and she will never want for anything. But Renee is more stubborn than he anticipated.

Renee is determined she won't be broken by Grif, even though her body yearns for his approval and touch. She soon learns that Grif is nothing compared to his brother Isaac. When Isaac shows up, Renee experiences real fear. When she meets their father, she's terrified.

Will Grif be successful in breaking Renee? Will Renee escape? Will Isaac get his chance with Renee? Will Grif show Renee a part of himself he keeps hidden? You'll have to read to get these answers. There is a dark feeling to this book, but no matter how much I tried to convince myself I shouldn't like Grif, I couldn't dislike him completely. We learn some of his past and it's messed up. But we also learn that Renee has some twisted tendencies as well. It's a tense read told entirely from Renee's POV. The Epilogue is the only time we get Grif's voice.

This was a good story. Grif was an Alpha male who had some issues due to the way he was raised. I was screaming at my IPhone when he allowed his brother Issac to do what he did to Renee before he stepped in. I hated Issac and his dad, who I'll just nickname Satan. The fact that the evil family members were allowed to stay alive is the reason I knocked this story down a star.

I thought it was kind of funny the way Renee was so strong willed most of the time. She seemed to always do the unexpected. Grid didn't know how to take that girl. The plot part about Tenee's reasons for hitchhiking was plain downright silly. Didn't make sense one bit, but hey, it's not my story.

That's all.

I often like books with dark subject matter so I wanted to give this one a go. It progressed pretty quickly and didn't quite allow me time to feel what was happening. I think many will really like it, but it wasn't exactly my speed.

Struck Down is a dark story about a woman who was left at the alter, even though it was her wedding rehearsal, she still felt it was no different than him leaving her the day of. With nothing left going for her she decides she's going to hitchhike to her next adventure even though her mother, father, and best friend advise her that it isn't a wise choice and that no one does that these days. She goes anyway. Shortly after making such a haste decision she is taken, drugged and stuffed inside the trunk of a car driven to a place unknown. She is then placed in the hands of Griff. A man that trains woman to be slaves and she will be HIS slave.

"I bought you. I own you. If you don't obey, I will break you." -Griff

"I can break a girl, Renee. I can make pain her pleasure. I can make her the most humble servant, the most pliable goddess in the bedroom, the perfect companion. I was very, very good at this. I was able to retire when I was thirty, which was not too long ago." - Griff

Grif was raised by an unruly father that says that "a woman's place is at a man's heel. A servant for her master." Griff was raised to treat his mom like a punching bag and with no respect. He beat is mother so bad that she wasn't able to get out of bed for three days and his father cheered him on. WHO THE HELL DOES THAT?! His father is a bad, bad man. And wait until you find out what he does for a living. That'll shock the shit outta you!

I actually loved the twist about half way through when his father came into the picture. That man has lost his damn marbles, but definitely added to the darkness of the book. I loved me a good, dark, twisted tale and this one hit that mark for me!

FOUR AND HALF STARS!!!

I definitely recommend you #oneclick today!

I stepped out of my usual genres with this one because the premise was very intriguing to me. BOY was I glad I did.. This is definitely not your typical romance. After being left by her fiancee the day before her wedding, Renee decides to venture off on an adventure by herself with nothing more than some essentials. She wants to prove to herself and everyone around her that she can do things on her own. Not having much money to work with she decides to hitch her way to the mountains.. Unfortunately things don't happen as she has planned. I can't go to much more into the story with out giving stuff away but when she meets Griff her life turns upside down. Was this the adventure she was needing? Or does she crave something more? Great story that keeps you intrigued. It would be interesting to know more about some of the other characters in the story, as there are some interesting ones. If you like a good read, that's a little different you just might find yourself loving this one.. even if it is not your norm, I did.

This is my second foray into the dark erotica genre. I have to say I like my travels there.

What I like about this book is how realistic it seems. When I say I mean in reference to events with the Hero and his background. I have to say I feel like he was fleshed out more than the heroine. With Renee compared to the heroine of my last read (Tears of Tess) I didn't really see why she would react to the situation she was put in. Like why did she want the things she wanted? Where did the desire come from you know? I felt I got that with Griff but not Renne.

But yes despite that I totally loved this story! I will definitely be reading more of this author's work.

Standard abduction story

It had its moments and for such a short story, the plot was actually very well developed. I felt like her training should've been given more time at the end and also that there should've been more erotica in a story that boasts "a dark erotic romance" in the title. Still, I would've given it four stars if not for the editing. A woman can't "be made domicile."

First of all, I would like to say this: LOVE LOVE LOVE THE COVER. It's stunning. Kudos on that.

This book is okay but for me it's just a tad bit too short for a book with a heavy subjects like kidnapping and Stockholm Syndrome. The relationship development between the Master and Renee was way too fast and it seemed unnatural.

Overall it's a 2!

I thought the author really did a good job with this story.

I was shocked, disgusted, horrified( which is a good thing in this book... I swear!!...lol). I felt for the MC. Being kidnapped and not knowing what was going to happen to her. It would be hard for any person. Having your fate in someone else’s hand. Someone that wants to do nothing but bad things to you!

Renee had recently been dumped by her fiancé Matt a day before their wedding. He asked for the ring back took all the money in their bank account and left. Leaving Renee devastated!

She always wanted to have an adventure. She wanted to do something that she never had done before. She wanted to hitchhike to where she needed to go and Hike the Appalachian trial. ( which I thought was just crazy!!!...lol). Just loose herself. She wanted to prove to herself that she could do it. Since this trip was suppose to be done With Matt after they got married.

But…since that didn’t happened…she was going solo. Her friend and family were all against it… but she didn’t care.

She didn’t even make 2 days before she got kidnapped.

When she first met Grif…huhhh

All he wanted was a slave. A girl he can break and have her the way he wants her. Some one who will just take what he had to dish out… No matter how horrific or painful it is.

It was weird…

He was so hot and cold. He couldn’t stand what he did to some of these women anymore…but he couldn’t fully leave it all behind.

I found myself on the fence with him. Right when I started to let my guard down with him… he would do something to Renee that just disgusted me with him. The Spanking and hitting…omg That was hard to read.

I was glad that Renee stood up for herself. She knew she would rather die then submit to Grif... I think I would be the same way too.

Grif changed a little bit for me towards the end of the book. He was able to show a softer side. And Renee… as weird as this sound… and you have to read this book to know what I’m talking about… Grif fulfilled something that Renee always needed but was never able to get… when she was with Matt.

I would definitely read book 2 to see what happens.

So… did I like it… Yes, I did.

Would I read more books by this author… Yes I would

Taking this off my romance shelves because that is not this book.

I only read this for a team challenge and we needed the words for the next part but I wouldn't choose to read this book. I'm all for kinks but I can't get on board and say its OK or say it isn't. Its not for me, if she is consenting then fine. The kidnapping part didn't sit well for me. I really hated that.

Will not be rereading, nor will I continue this on. Its not my genre of choice and I will not be shelving this in a romance shelf nor making a new shelf for a genre I will not be reading. Even for 50 shades of grey.

Very fast read..but sometimes that is all I need. Girl gets taken and given to a retired sex slave trainer. He's pretty rough with her..it's something she has always wanted deep down. Captive who falls in love with her kidnapper story...but that's what I like:)) If you these story, fast and to the point give this one a try..

Pleasantly surprised

This was a good, dark read. I enjoyed it. I love dark romance so I tend to get picky with them. This book did not disappoint. The only lingering question I have is will there be a serial??
