What I loved about this book - the past timeline, the gangster plot line, the twists and action that took place.
What could be better - the love story, was a bit long winded and wordy, there were times the story dragged on and times where it was a bit to quick.
Overall a solid debut and I will totally pick up more by this author.

What I loved:
The storyline kept me turning pages and looking for excuses to sit down to read. I loved that I knew when I was reading about present day vs the past, thanks to the author’s use of italics. The way the author describes the houses and locations made me jealous I didn’t live there!
Where it needed improvement:
The beginning was a little clunky and overly wordy throughout. I feel like a little more brevity would have made for a smoother read. And what is lost in word count could have been made up in fleshing out some of the transitions and inner monologue.
Overall, a worthwhile read and one I would recommend! I can’t wait to read Jodie’s next book!

Good book. Read it literally in one day! Loved the beginning. I felt like I knew what was going to happen though from the very beginning. Love all the characters. Can't wait to see what happens in the next book.

Picked this book up while I was at my local craft fair event! Went into it without really knowing anything and ending up loving it! Can’t wait to read her other books!

I sincerely hope the physical copy of this book was better than the kindle version. So many errors, it was distracting. The plot was very predictable and simultaneously unrealistic. 👎

I had to have a long, hard think wording this review.
To, again, be honest about my biases, Jodie is a writer friend. She is kind and snarky, much like her writing. You'll notice, though, despite this friendship, I did not do 5 stars. This is because, again, like her writing, Jodie is strong and takes criticism well:
To get these out of the way, there were a few sections I found slower, but I am very focused on the romantic tension. The climax could have used a smidge more action, but, again, that's personal.
This was a great twist on the arranged marriage trope in a modern era. The emotions, plot twists, and romance were engaging, sweet, and wound in complex, beautiful ways.

Could not stop reading it!!!!
This was a great first novel by author Jodie Leigh Murray. Complete page turner that had me staying up late to finish it. Hope we get a novel about Tatum and Alex!
