I enjoyed the baseball stories in this book -- they were interesting and in some cases even new to me. But the theology part I would have given only one star. Steverson lists a lot of Bible verses, but they are only thrown in because they have a word in common with the baseball stories he's telling. There is not really any theological depth to his use of Scripture. The worst case is in his chapter about "playing" baseball where he references Exodus 32:6: "The people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play." But this is a reference to their idolatry and God is furious with them for worshipping a golden calf! A lot of his quotations are like that -- they aren't really related to any point at all, they just happen to have a word that goes with his theme.
In short -- if you like baseball, you can read the book and enjoy the stories. Just don't expect any deep theological insights. In fact, you'd probably do better to ignore the Bible verses in this book and read the Bible in context for its own merits!
