Brady Donovan had never had a real home until the day he met Lloyd Langley. But it wasn’t the rambling, warm ranch house that made him feel he’d finally found a place to belong, it was Lloyd’s granddaughter, Taylor.
The curvy woman was beautiful and selfless, always taking care of others without a thought for herself. When her grandfather died, she had only Danny—her older, reckless brother who wanted to leave and ride the rodeo circuit.
Brady had to make a choice—stay with the woman who held his happiness in her hands, or keep her wayward brother from harm. Fighting his feelings for her, he leaves.
Taylor tried to hate Brady for taking her to his bed, then taking off without a word, but one look at his darkly handsome face told her hate wasn’t exactly what she was feeling. Having him under her roof, even if was only for the holidays, was sorely going to try her resolve to keep her distance. Especially when he was so darn helpful—taking over her chores, keeping her brother in line, and getting her the most beautiful Christmas tree. Then making the most delicious love to her under it.
Joann and Patricia are a writing team of two best friends who love to write (and read) stories about alpha males and smart, sassy, sometimes curvy, women.
Had a hard time following along as it’s dual POV but just randomly changes in the middle of a chapter without any warning. Had no idea what was happening once or twice because I didn’t realize it changed POV.
Other than that, the story is cute but everything could have been resolved if they both just spoke about their feelings. Especially Brady and why he left.
I liked the setting and the book was short and quite readable. The main characters are a bit silly and could have sorted things out with some pretty easy conversations!!
Quick and pleasant to read, as long as you ignore the fact that literally everything could be solved if the hero had just opened his mouth and used his words like a grown-arse adult.
The holidays have been lonely for since her Grandfather passed away and her brother and the man she loved had left to pursue rodeo careers. But this year the holidays could be a whole lot happier. Brady and her brother were coming home for Christmas and there just might be special gift under the tree. This is a heartfelt holiday story guaranteed to have a heartfelt ending. Happy reading.
A word of warning, make sure you have a very large box of tissues handy, as this story will have you in tears often. A heartwarming tale of losses at a young age and loveless childhoods, as well as finding and loosing love, or at least thinking you've lost it, this book will thaw even the coldest of hearts, as we are introduced to Brady and Taylor. After the death of their grandfather and only other living relative, Taylor and her brother Danny are left with only each other and the ranch their grandfather left them. Brady, an out of work cowboy, met their grandfather at a cattle show and moved in with them as the new ranch hand. Even though they both knew that the other would be the only one for them, it took time for them to act upon their feelings. Brady, thinking he needed to look after Danny, even though he was the oldest of the two siblings, he was also the weakest, left Taylor behind and followed Danny on the rodeo circuit. A decision he regretted every day he was away. Taylor, crushed by what she perceived as Brady's rejection, has been left alone to deal with the struggling ranch by herself, trying to manage it all, and find some form of peace with being alone. So when Danny calls out of the blue after over a year of being away and wanting to come home for the holidays, Taylor isn't sure how to deal with her feelings. Of course, there is no way she could ever refuse Danny, especially when the ranch is half his, but her hurt and resentment are never far from the surface, that is, until she lays eyes on both Danny and Brady. Will this couple ever get the chance to rekindle the love they both felt, or will the fences built around Taylor's heart be too high to break down? Well written and easy to follow, this standalone book is a winner. A great read.
This book was more than a fun holiday read! It had layers to it that Author’s Joann Baker and Patricia Mason did a fantastic job letting unravel.
I just loved the lead Taylor. Whenever I find a saucy strong heroine, I just want to do a little happy dance. Taylor’s spunk and humor had me laughing constantly.
Taylor Langley carries the weight of the world on her shoulders. She does whatever she can to keep her family farm a float. That includes always thinking of herself last. I wanted to tell her more than once to tell her brother off. He was a spoiled brat that should’ve been out on his tush.
Taylor gave her heart away a year ago to Brady Donovan a year ago only to have him trample all over it. Lord when I read this I wanted to kick Brady’s butt myself. But the more I read the more I realized this story was full of surprises.
Brady Donovan is the sexy cowboy that turned poor Taylor’s world upside down. He has girls pining for him wherever he goes. The man oozed sexy cowboy and I could not get enough of him. That is until he would have me growling at him.
Brady and Taylor had their wires crossed for over a year. Brady being the noble gentleman that he was knew he screwed up. I really enjoyed watching them two dance that fine line of not giving into the lust, while Brady proved himself to Taylor. The sexual tension was great between these two. I loved how Brady teased poor Taylor to get her all worked up.
If you are looking for a sexy holiday read where the lead makes her man work to get back in her good graces. This book is for you.
Taylor is just trying to survive, the ranch, irresponsible older brother, heartbreak, loneliness, and the financial struggles. There's lots of obstacles in her way, but she is making the most out of her life as it is. Brady thought he was doing just what she needed at the time, when he left to keep an eye on the trouble causing brother. He cared for Taylor, and the absence really made the heart grow fonder. The homecoming is ardent, and Brady truly is making every effort to help Taylor where he can. He's so caring, attentive, loving. And with a little push from the friendly neighbor, they are finally also communicating, and telling each other about their feelings, dreams, and hopes for the future. Rather luscious Christmas story with a charming cowboy and sweet rancher ~ Three spoons
You sure won't put this book down! If I knew I would have a hot cowboy like Brady under my Christmas tree....I wouldn't ever take it down! The thought of Brady next to me every night and morning ...makes a girl just squirm with anticipation and delight!!! Yummy
This story is about a woman who falls in love with this cowboy who ends up leaving with her brother one morning. Her brother and the guy come back after her brother breaks his foot. She swears she's not going to get involved again but she does. The story has a great ending.
This is one of my new favorites. Brady and Taylor are great and perfect for each other. I would love to find a cowboy like Brady under my Christmas tree! I think you will like this book. I gave it 5 stars.
The fact that the heroine is a tough an independent woman had the most appeal to me. Both main characters struggle with doubts and insecurities, but together the help to heal those open wounds. A really romantic and sweet love story.
I think that this is the first book I have read by Patricia Mason and I absolutely loved it. On not crazy about the selfish brother but the boyfriend is awesome. I want one just like him!!
