It was alright. I chuckled a couple of times, but it wasn't laugh out loud hilarious for me. I guess I'm not understanding the over the top pranks (throwing glue filled condoms at cops?) and just felt kind of like I was reading teen girls gone wild rather than 20 something year olds. Alix... was annoying with her many freaking issues. It was a bit too much for me.
I read it over 2 days when I had nothing else to do but overall my reaction was mainly

A lot of stories of other characters I felt were kind of thrown at my face, so I kept having to pause to remember what was happening in their side stories, and they weren't flushed out making it really awkward to follow. I'd like to know about Kelli and Jaxon... but the epilogue has me even more confused.

I do like the author's previous co-written books so I'll still check out her solo books. This just didn't really hit home for me.

Ok I had a few issues with this book:

1- almost half the book was background and it was too long before the main characters actually met

2- Alix was a bitch I get why she may have been in the beginning but it carried on the whole way through the book

3- it seemed a bit rushed to me not sure whether this was due to how much time was spent on the background but by the time the Jordan and Alix actually meet it seems to move at the speed of light

There are some funny moments in the book and it wasn't dreadful is all i can really say

I am not a big Romantic Comedy fan but this book had me laughing from the start. I thought it would be more sad with how it started with Alix getting her heart broken not once but twice but no was I wrong. I usually judge a book on how good it is depending if I would read it again. I would read this book over and over for just the laughs. When someone jokes about not giving oral and then in the next sentence getting slapped in the face by a penis that is funny. That is funny that we all know to be hilarious but you don't read about in many books. I picked Dawn Martens book books I have read her Biker books she co wrote and I wondered if this would be funny as the title but it was well worth it with all the laughing and eye rolling I got from people around me.

We meet Alix who is not only running away from her ex-fiancé that has betrayed her but also her family that is caught up in the mix of the betrayal. She wants to start over so she moves and starts a new life. But walks in Jordan needing a place to stay and her cousin best friend. He also running but from some a very CRAZY ex girlfriend. But you could feel the chemistry thru the pages. You loved Jordan for his blunt mouth and sexy comments. He wants Alix but she pushes him away even thou in her words her vagina was his penis ( well that the clean version).

" I can't trust myself, especially since my vagina likes him. She likes him a lot. F**K, she doesn't just like him, she loves his cock!!"- Alix

But Jordan determined to win her over not only that be but with her for a lifetime and Knock her up! Yes its his mission to knock her up!! Alix is not having any of Jordan crap she thinks her hormones wants him but her mind is telling her no. But thru some very funny and crazy friends tell her she wrong. Oh don't get me start on their friends. That crazy and hilarious all in them selves. I cant wait to read if she dos ever come out with her friends books. Kellie and Jaxon with there crazy story. Also Hayley and Brock AKA the cop!

But in the end love is not a time bomb its just love and its worth opening up your heart too but can Alix see that over ever thing and let Jordan in!!

Awesome romantic-comedy written from the heart

I absolutely loved this book. It was fast-paced, refreshing, and the writing was so realistic that it literally felt like you were listening to a friend tell you her story. It was a lot of fun to "watch" the friends to lovers relationship unfold between the two characters, Alix and Jordan.
Alix is sassy, sarcastic, and over-the-top zany with so many hysterical random things that bother her that you never really know what's gonna come out of her mouth next. She's also sweet and endearing and funny as hell, but unfortunately she's had a rough time after having her heart broken.
Jordan is sexy as all, sweet, and loyal to his family with a good head on his shoulders. He's also had a tough time in the relationship department. After making a decision to better his life, he moves west to go to school, and also to get as far away as possible from his psycho ex, Renee. Through a mutual connection, he winds up living with Alix and so it begins. These two are perfect for each other, especially after they both figure that out.
What I also enjoyed about this story was the cast of supporting characters between the two of them. They each contributed the perfect amount of sweet, or crazy, and even dishonest depth necessary to make the storyline work. I could actually see this book made into a rom-com movie. Great job by author Dawn Martens—I'd definitely recommend this one and look forward to reading more of her writing.

**JOSIE's 4.5 STAR REVIEW **

I have had the pleasure of reading several books by Dawn Martens and I have to say I am a fan of her work. This was a bit different from her usual genre being that it was a romantic comedy and it was freaking awesome. This author always creates characters that are lovable, relatable and enjoyable. This particular plot was deceiving. When I started the book I thought it was going to shred me to pieces but the author turned the darkness into light and had me swooning and laughing out loud several times. The author throws some memorable conversation pieces into this story that had me thinking wow this is me and my girls. She threw in some Sons of Anarchy references, dildo shopping and jokes about orals sex. Yep totally like me and my girls– loved it. Even though it dealt with betrayal and hidden family secrets this book was refreshing and so funny.

Alix is a truly wonderful and lovable character. After being betrayed by her fiancé twice and being betrayed by her family she leaves them all behind to start a new life. Several months after she does her cousin a favor by allowing one of her friends to move into her house. Allowing Jordan to become her roommate becomes a problem of sorts. Alix is immediately attracted to Jordan and she can see that he is attracted to her but after the betrayal she suffered she is not willing to let any man into her heart again. She fights her attraction to Jordan every chance she can get.

Jordan is swoon worthy, funny as h*** and can sure do SEX like a god. He decides he needs to leave his home behind because his ex-girlfriend has lost her mind and is stalking him. He wants to go away to University and with his friend Sarah’s help is able to start over. The minute Jordan and Alix meet sparks fly and so do the insults. Jordan loves Alix’s sassy and sexy mouth. Her attitude just makes him want her more. The more she pushes him away the more he wants her.

“You on your rag or something? Or maybe you just need to pull that thong outta your a** and live a little.”

“Screw you! And I’m not wearing a f****** thong, I’m not wearing panties.”

“I didn’t see you wash your hands. For all I know, you could have been scratching your a** or picking your nose before you got here. You weren’t scratching your a** in my car were you?”

“What? You are nuts.”

Jordan is patient in his fight to win her over. Jordan wants Alix and not just for a night he wants her forever so he has a plan of his own to keep Alix with him. Alix eventually losses her fight to keep Jordan away and when she finally admits that she wants him too things heat up for the pair.

“F***, Alix! That feels so good, baby. Let me taste you. D*** you taste so sweet on my tongue.”

“Of f***, yes Jordan.”

“You can’t keep avoiding me. This what we have, it’s something and we both know it.”

“I love you.”

“I knew you did.”

This book is a must read, it has everything plus some truly funny laugh out loud moments. The relationship between Jordan and Alix is natural, not force and develops over time. I absolutely love this author and this book was another favorite of mine.

I love the cover of this book! It is full of color and just caught my eye. The blurb had me wanting to read it as soon as I could. I was so excited about it.
Alix was funny but she was also a bit of a bitch. I get that she had been hurt but she was still a little to mean at times. She was also a little immature at times and that drove me nuts. Maybe it is just me but she was suppose to be a grown woman and she was freaking out over some things (don't want to spoil it) that I just don't think she needed to be freaking out over. So there were times that she just pissed me off but over all she was a good character. Jordan was a sweet guy and I liked that he was a little alpha but not to bad. I liked that he could be super cocky to Alix when she was being a super bitch. It was like they could put each other in their place and made it work. It was a fun read and I liked it but the back story dragged on and there were some things that I would have liked to know that were not in the back story, especially when I found out that Kelli and Jaxson will be the next story. I just felt the background dragged out and then the end was rushed to get it all in and end it in a good spot. If you are looking for a short read with a little bit of fun then this is for you.

Quick Read...

I like that the author spent so much time on the H/h development and background. But, when she gets to the H/h relationship I felt like there wasn't enough detail in the development of the coupling.

The other issue of have with the story is with all the detail on Alix’s character you wouldn't have thought she would turn into a slut, it didn't flow right, and seemed wrong. Loved Jordan’s character all through the book. Although, with Alix’s behavior I just didn’t see why he fell in love with her.

About three quarters in I almost quit because it just got stupid. But, I made it to the end. Story was an okay read.

I really liked this book, I liked Alix and Jordan they were really funny I don't know if the scheming Jordan did is really a good thing in a relationship but I liked that the author had the guy tricking the girl into pregnanycy for a change. I also enjoyed how the book started from when they were young and then onto their relationship and to the ending. It was nice to have an ending where we see the characters aren't perfect fashion models or rich men that they are just your normal working people. I am looking forward to the book that spins off this to.

Loved it!

I loved this book! I had a hard time with the drama and teenage angst in the beginning but it was worth it in the end.
Everyone has that crazy girlfriend that will say or do anything and Alix is that girl. She spoke her mind and did pretty much what she wanted. I loved her views on sex and her phobias.
If Jordan has a fan club I'm in it. He was such a sweetie. He knew what her wanted and he was going to make sure he got her.

I have read most of the books that Dawn Martens has wrote. She has wrote some incredible books and I really enjoy her writing style and the stories that he has created so far. Seeing that Dawn is releasing a new book I was looking forward to reading it as I knew before I read the synopsis that it would be a book that I'd love if Dawn wrote it.
Its just love, not a time bomb is a romantic comedy. I found myself chuckling to myself from through the whole story. There was a lot of pranks throughout the story that I found brilliant. The pranks reminded me a lot of my childhood and my college days and I enjoyed reading about them and also reminiscing my childhood. The banter back and forth was brilliant and the humour is what kept me gripped throughout the book.
Alix and Jordan were both very interesting characters. The story starts off with both characters when they were younger. Quite abit of the book was about the characters younger days and a lot of information about them before they met. It was interesting to read about both characters earlier days and there stories before the couple actually met, but I think that to much of the book was taken up on the past. I did spend abit of the book thinking when are they going to meet. The book focused to much on the past. I felt the book only really took off half way through.
Jordan is your typical male character. He's cocky and just wants to sleep around. However underneath all the act is a really sweet, nice guy that know what he wants and will do anything to get it. I loved his determination and his whole character I fell in love with. He completely made the book for me. Hs character was outstanding and so well developed.
Alix isn't quite in the same league as Jordan. At the beginning in "her younger days" she was a total bitch and not very likeable, that continues throughout the book as she gets older. I couldn't connect well with her for a lot of the book. I felt most the way through the book that Jordan was far to good for Alix and it's not often I can say I have felt that way about a character in a book. Normally I'm feeling the girl is to good for the man, but in this book its the complete opposite. Alix liked to speak her mind a lot. She did whatever she wanted and never cared who it hurt or the consequences of her actions. She was a loose canon and her meeting Jordan was the best thing that could of happened to her. He made her a much better person and because of him he made her a likeable character by the end of the book.
The author wrote the banter and back and forth between the couple perfectly, it really made the story. The writing was very good throughout the book. I liked that the author changed it up abit and gave us background knowledge of the characters as it gives you a chance to get to them better. I would of just liked that part if the story abit shorter so we could read more about the characters now and have more of there story now. That was the only negative I had about the whole book.
Overall I found the book unique and refreshing. Dawn turned your normal romance comedy on its head so everything was back to front on everything your use to. The writing flowed well and the additional characters were really interesting. I'm hoping the extra characters will get a story at some point as I think it would be another great, funny read.
A good, easy and funny read. 4 Stars

The blurb complete drew me in as it sounded like it would be a fun read. It was a cute story and definitely had me chuckling at times (cue the throw a condom filled with glue at cops… omg i nearly peed my pants). I loved Jordan, he seemed like such a kick ass guy, and really seemed to go out of his way to try and make Alix happy.

I really enjoyed Alix's character at first. She was spunky, a smartass, and the banter between her and Jordan was pretty dang amusing. However, in the last third of the book it really started to become a bit much for me. Here was Jordan, this great guy who wanted to give Alix the world. They were madly in love, yet Alix was still acting like a total bitch to him. I totally understood her attitude and bitchiness for the longest time, but it felt like come the end, she really should have lightened up. If I was Jordan, there is no way that after all that time I would have continued to put up with that shit. For me, it really ended up aggravating me towards the end.

One thing that I loved was that you got to see where the characters ended up years down the line. I am assuming that this is a standalone novel, and with that being said it was fantastic how the end fast forwarded to different parts of their life in the future instead of just leaving you hanging wondering what happens in the future.

At times I was getting a little confused because there was a lot going on with all the different characters. At times it was a little tricky to keep up with it all and trying to remember what had happened with each one. I was a little disappointed that you did not end up finding out what had happened between Kelli and Jaxon… it really killed me because I was so lost (not to mention I was dying to know). Although after finishing reading this book I found out there will end up being a spinoff about these two characters so hopefully all will be revealed in that story.

Let's not forget about the crazy exes. Oh man what a hoot. They really brought quite the entertainment to this story. I hate to say it, but I may have actually enjoyed reading about them more than Jordan and Alix. I mean, they were seriously CRAZY!!!!!

This was a cute, fun, quick read and I look forward to getting Kelli and Jaxon's story in the future.

3.5 stars. The story was highly entertaining and rather dramatic although I wouldn't say either Alix or Jordan where dramatic themselves. They both just happened to know other people who brought drama into their lives. Alix is not interested in a relationship having been cheated on by a previous fiance, only to be screwed over again later and to be betrayed by her family. Jordan has dealt with infidelity, too, but he's not nearly as jaded because the woman he was involved with wasn't someone he pictured marrying. There's several side characters who all have their own romantic relationship woes or phobias, too. The message about that is that love is can be messy and there's no straightforward formula for any couple, each set has their own story to tell and everyone has to fight for who they want. Jordan is set on convincing Alix that they are meant for each other. Alix is a rather bold and smart mouthed girl, but she's also intelligent and caring. However, she's not as trustworthy as she used to be. I was really amused by her level of honesty and some of the stuff that she says, she has no shame in telling the absolute truth. Jordan was a likable guy in every way, he adored everything about Alix. Although the storyline was decent, what didn't work for me was the constant drama of the other side characters and how so many girls would get pregnant to anchor a guy. I also thought it was a bit much that both Alix's and Jordan's exes still wanted them back even though they were the original cheaters. What are the odds? Plus Jordan was head over heels in love with Alix and although she eventually accepted him, she wouldn't make a bigger commitment and Jordan waited it out. I thought he waited way too long, but some other characters in the book waited even longer. Even though this is a romance, it wasn't written as a sweet romance, it actually had a slightly gritty feel to it.

Coming from one half of the writing duo who brought us Renegade Lady, one of my favorite biker books last year, is this part romantic comedy, part cautionary tale of love, lust, psychotic delusional people and life in turmoil. Love can certainly BE a time bomb when you never know how and when it will all just blow up in your face. Just when you think you are happy, life is grand and all is well, BOOM...there it all goes to hell and you are left holding the pieces of a broken heart and wondering what went wrong.
Liars, cheaters, parents who interfere (or don't when they really should intervene) and mutliple partners who go back and forth like a game of chance all make up the players in this story and at first it was overwhelming trying to keep everyone straight when we are introduced to each main character and all their friends/family members.
I wouldn't call this book hilarious (although there were some genuinely funny parts) and I wouldn't say it's a romantic comedy of errors...but more like a dramady. A serious story with some humor thrown in to lighten the blows and a lot of dysfunctional characters.
Alix was a fussy girl with way too many phobias and lucky her girlfriends stuck by her; Jordan was a good guy at heart who just picked the wrong girl; the parents were clueless and probably made me the angriest at how they could have just drifted through life while their children behaved so badly.
Although we had to get through a lot of background history before we get to Alix and Jordan finally meeting and beginning their journey, it was pretty well thought out and pretty entertaining. I wasn't as big a fan of this book compared to her other ones but enjoyed it for what it was and would certainly read more from this talented author.

*I really liked that the book started off when Alix and Jordan were no more than children. Each chapter was a different age. The trials that they both went through before they found each other are the same issues anybody would face and they did exactly the thing anyone would do. I felt so bad for Alix for the things she went through. The secrets that were kept from her were horrible secrets. I actually agree with all of her reactions to her problems.

This book was fantastically done. Dawn is an amazing author and I can’t wait to read more of her books. I’m now a fan. I highly recommend this book.

Hilarious and sexy! What a combination

OMG!! Dawn Martens had me laughing out loud and then swooning! I really loved this book - it is such a refreshing change to have romance that has you howling with laughter.

I loved Alix and Jordan - I loved the dynamics of their relationship. I loved how they loved, how they fought and of course how they laughed.

Both have been more than unlucky in love and their meeting is beyond fortuitous and for me it definitely felt as though the stars aligned perfectly for them.

I love how the book told the story from past to present to future.. It was so well executed and well rounded. The back story allows you to get to know the characters and what you read as you get to know them will give you severe heartache.

Although both have been dealt a very poor hand they are both still incredibly strong characters, and quite honestly when the female lead character is full of sass and fire, I just freaking love it. Alix is a firestarter and I just loooooved her.

Jordan is all man but still sensitive and kind.. The man we all want for ourselves. I love how he was written because he was all male and full of testosterone but never afraid to show his feelings.

What a refreshing read!! Loved it!

This is the first book I've read by Dawn Martens and I loved it. Quirky, funny, sexy, and just enough angst to push the storyline forward. The book is told in dual POV and it builds the backstory very well. Jordan and Alix don't meet until both of their situations well explained to the reader. It sets the story up very well. Both of the main characters have had some major issues in their pasts and have every reason to mistrust and swear off the opposite sex.
Alix has been betrayed by love, not once but twice, but when her cousin Sarah asks if a friend can stay with her while he attends college, she agrees. Enter the sexy hot Jordan, who has watched his brother makes big mistakes with women and made a bad choice of his own. The chemistry is immediate and the banter fun and sexy. One minute Alix is flirty, the next she turns mean trying to protect her heart. They can't fight their chemistry but watching them try is entertaining. I loved the characters and found some of Alix's quirks laugh out loud funny. The road to HEA takes a couple of interesting turns but it isn't a time bomb.

4.5 Stars!

If you're a fan of Romantic Comedies, then this book is a must read! I've alway been a fan of Dawn Martens and her sense of humor truly shines through in this book. The characters in this story were so funny and so relatable, I felt as though I were laughing at my own friends' silly antics. I'll admit, at times Alix could be extremely annoying and a raging bitch, but Jordan was infatuated with her regardless of her brazen attitude, and that made me love him that much more. I think my favorite thing about this book was being able to watch Alix and Jordan's lives unfold from the time they were young and seeing the events leading up to them living together. They both dealt with real life issues that could happen to anyone, and the manner in which they handled them was no less believable. At times I even caught myself thinking, "yeah, I would've done the exact same thing".

I really enjoyed this standalone RomCom from Dawn Martens, and I can't wait to read more from her!

i love reading books written by this author because her books aren't cliche and there's always no unnecessary dramas.

the dialogue was pretty funny and refreshing at times but there were a few things which i didn't like. too much virtual yelling and what was the deal with the parents? how could they keep the secret to themselves for so long and not tell her thus making alix look like a fool? it doesn't seem like what parents would do, at least i know mine definitely wouldn't. that was a brutal betrayal to me and a lame one at that. yeah you don't want to get into the middle of it but it was a huge secret and parents are suppose to stand up for their child, not keep quiet while their child gets hurt. it was just unacceptable lol

that being said, i can't wait for jaxon and kellie's book!

Well I don't think I can handle romantic comedy I mean I really thought I was going to love Alix and in the beginning I did but by the end of the book I just didn't like her very much thought she was just a little too much. I like to laugh when I read but there was just too much for me. Then all the sexual stuff she was grossed out by and wouldn't even try I kept yelling come on are you kidding me. I liked Jordan a lot and hes the reason I finished the book I love take charge men. I really thought I was going to like this book because I love the Renegade Sons MC books, and I think Dawn is an amazing author but this one just didn't do it for me

Yes!!! I loved this book! I have never read Dawn Martens before and this was the best book to introduce me to her writing! I honestly felt like I was reading a part of me.I could relate to a lot of the story, Alix is just like me and Jordan is an ass just like my husband! Perfect fit! I laughed so hard and couldn't put the book down. Jordan and Alix were perfect for each other and I loved the way the connected, there was no sweet lovey dovey it was real and they still loved each other. The banter was amazing and the story flowed from one page to the next perfectly. Dawn you know how to get the attention of the reader and not let them ago until the very end! Great job!

Wow, Liam and Michelle are scum. Shame on the parents also. Shaun cheating on Liz with that skank? Omg, why did she forgive him, that's a story right there. Also, I'm so glad Hilary and Brock got their stuff together. Smart. I loved Jordan but what did he see in Alix? She was a huge bitch through the last half of the book. He didn't deserve that at all. I do understand she was hurt but he was a good guy. Alix was just ott and ruined it. The end was a HEA but now we have to wait for Kellie and Jaxson's story. I have a feeling I'm going to hate him as well but we will see. This is one of the rare books where the H is the greatest guy and the h is the asshole.

This is one of those books that once you sit down and start reading you don't stop until it is over. It was wonderfully funny and felt like you were hanging out with friends that were telling you all about how they met and their crazy exs and screwed up family. I have read other books by Dawn and this wasn't like them but don't be discouraged because it was a fun read that didn't leave you upset and wanting to know why! She really did a great job with this one and makes me anxious to see what she comes up with next

I honestly don't get how people gave this stupid ass book 5 stars.. Are you guys nuts? I have read books written by 13 year olds so much better than that.
It was childish, the flashbacks were more than the actual timeline itself and the writer sped up the whole story by writing "2 years later" like 5 times... I rolled my eyes so much that now I have to get a surgery or something.
It was awful nobody should be reading this. Or it can be used as torture methods for terrorists or something like that. Actually, no. It's kinda against human rights, seriously.

This book was absolutely amazing from start to finish. I started reading one evening and couldn't put it down. I loved the banter back and forth and sexual scenes were realistic. I am such a fan of Dawn Martens and will continue to read anything she writes. If your looking for a book to read that keeps your attention and keeps you intrigued please read this one.Like I said before this book ranks high on my list and i go through a lot of books weekly.

Adorable book about two people who have been hurt in the past. Can they both overcome that fear and begin to love again? Well love each other through the fighting that is. She is a hair dresser and he is a mechanic. The story takes a while to get going, but once it does it will make you laugh, love and lust. Great book.

It was a good book, but half the book is background on the both the main characters. I get it that we as readers had to understand what they went through but it was a bit much. Alix was funny but she was such a bitch, i mean yes she went through a lot but Jordan wasn't bad to her at all. He was good to her always trying to make her happy. Overall it was a pretty good book.
