One Less. One More. is a modern-day handbook for following your heart, an ageless formula that when applied slowly, steadily and continuously, results in unimaginable happiness and success. Robbie Vorhaus should know. As a professional fixer, and drawing on his decades of advising the powerful, rich and famous, Robbie, one of the more sought-after and respected crisis and communications experts in the world, discovered a fascinating common thread, a remarkable connection, an extraordinary link among his truly happy and successful clients, family, and friends. They all, at one point, courageously and consciously chose to change their lives and follow their hearts. And now you can, too.
Using real life examples from world leaders, rock stars, sports legends, and other notables, Robbie walks readers through his premise that our singular purpose in life is to be happy, and by having the courage to follow our heart and change slowly, we can fulfill our greatest goals, dreams and desires. Recognizing that we are all unforgettable heroes sharing common doubts on a collective journey, Robbie addresses questions like, What is my purpose? What if I fail? or What if I can't hear my heart's calling?
In his new book One Less. One More. Follow Your Heart. Be Happy. Change Slowly., Robbie shares his incredibly compelling personal story of transforming from a homeless, drug addicted teenager, to a major media photojournalist, founder of an award-winning communications agency, leadership and crisis strategist, and to eventually writing a short, endearing column for his local newspaper, The Sag Harbor Express, that soon became the impetuous for the OLOM movement.
One Less. One More. is a traveler s guide of sorts, a step-by-step, proven strategy for discovering your true life's purpose, doing what you love, and successfully moving forward for the abundant fulfillment of your heart's dreams and desires.
Robbie Vorhaus is the author of the bestselling, critically acclaimed book, One Less. One More. - Follow Your Heart. Be Happy. Change Slowly. (Storytelling, Inc., 2014). He is the founder and CEO of the crisis and communications consultancy, New York-based, Vorhaus Media & Communications, Inc., where he strategically advises internationally recognized and trusted world leaders, athletes, sports teams, celebrities, authors, musicians, entrepreneurs, and Fortune 500 companies.
As a regular media contributor, Robbie is a champion, an evangelist, for the courageous who choose to follow their heart and change the world. When first meeting someone, his first question is often the very direct, “Do you have the courage, in any moment, to make two profoundly simple choices that will, ultimately, change your life forever?”
Robbie is also a popular, funny, and inspirational speaker, and enjoys presenting at live events, corporate functions, book signings, and especially book groups, which include Skype appearances.
Robbie Vorhaus's "One Less. One More" would make a nice gift for that stressed out person. Granted, The book is not some kind of panacea, holding the cure for everything that may ail someone, but it is full of some very useful advise. I find the idea of doing one less negative thing each day and one more positive thing quite an endearing philosophy. All big changes are made in little, baby steps. Those who attempt to follow the advise in this book will not find their lives overhauled the very next day, but if they are consistent in following the advice, they will notice big changes in time. True happiness is not found in wallets or mansions, rather it is found in the small, individual acts we do each day. When people begin to realize this, they often become less stressed, and oftentimes, easier to be around. I have tried to do this each day, even before I received this book, not because I expect to overhaul my life, but just because I am a hippy-ish, chuckle-headed wierdo. I would definitely read more of Mr. Vorhaus's books in the future. This book was won from Goodreads.com
Robbie Vorhaus has walked-the-walk and shares his success in what I would call a world-view of spirituality. I've had the pleasure of meeting Robbie. His energy is amazing and truly giving. "One Less, One More" is not hard, but like anything else takes time and practice and commitment. Give up one negative of anything each day and add one positive of anything each day. And the big thing - do this from the HEART, not the EGO (which is the petri dish of negativity.) Practice, practice, practice. Change is slow... and you will have relapses, no worries. Whether you're trying to reduce stress, kick a habit, start a new business or write a book - "One Less, One More" can guide you if you care to take the lessons to HEART. There are many quotes within the pages of the book taken from luminaries throughout the world and time. Some are meditative others contemplative at the very least. "One Less, One More" is a Good Read!
In this book, Robbie teaches that everything changes when you choose to follow your heart, do what you love and pursue your deepest dreams and desires.
When I picked up the book, I read Robbie's story. Talk about enlightening! It's not often an author gives such a background story and insight to their life and why they write the book.
First, you have to start. Not tomorrow or the next day, but now. Then every day choose one negative, resistant or bad feeling, thought or action and make the conscious decision to let it go.
One Less.
Also, on a daily basis, you will listen to your hearts calling and choose one positive or good feeling, thought or action and embrace it.
One More.
Each day you will follow the 7 steps, without fail.
I received this book for free from GoodReads First Reads. With that out of the way, here's my review:
I enjoyed reading this book. Is it ground breaking? No, not particularly. What it does though is present things in a way that makes you say "duh, why didn't I think of that!"
Read it, something will resonate with you and you'll add it to your life.
For me it was the concept of stop trying. I never thought about it. I've tried to lose weight, write, paint, etcetera etcetera but trying isn't doing. Saying you will try is setting yourself up to fail. Stop trying start doing.
There are quite a few other concepts in the book. Some struck a chord some didn't. But that's the point isn't it? Since we are all different there are different aspects we want to change.
This book won't change your life, that's something you have to do for yourself. But maybe it can give you a stepping stone or a building block to change. Take the ideas presented and fashion them to fit you.
I received this book as part of the Goodreads First Reads Program for the Purpose of a fair and honest review.
Overview: Welcome to the concept of ‘one less one more.” It seems like a simple concept, doesn’t it? Take away one thing that doesn’t further your dreams, and add one thing that does. Mr. Vorhaus is going to help us work into this lifestyle.
Likes: The concept is a good idea. Mainly, because if it is done properly, then your only focus is working on your dreams. Nothing can stop you from trying as long as you are focused.
Dislikes: The thing is Mr. Vorhaus’s path is completely against my religious beliefs concerning the heart and the whole duty of man.
Conclusion: Just because I don’t agree with Mr. Vorhaus’s path, doesn’t mean that I think we should disregard the concept. I can use this concept on my own personal path, and advise you to do the same.
One Less. One More. is an enjoyable, enlightening read. If you are looking to shift your focus from the negatives to the positives in your life, this book will illuminate, inspire and help you on your journey. The writing style is simple and easy to follow, there are numerous examples, and the whole concept of gradually eliminating negative elements of your life and replacing them with positive elements is so brilliant and easy to implement. The author was very witty; I laughed out loud several times while reading this book! The chapters are short and quick to read. There is a wonderful yin and yang symmetry to the table of contents.
Since reading this book, I have consciously chosen to not do/think/say several negative actions/thoughts/words, and instead have consciously chosen to do/think/say several positive actions/thoughts/words. This is an awesome book!
