Read on your PC, Mac, smart phone, tablet or Kindle device. Bipolar disorder is not to be taken lightly and underestimated. It is a self-destructive affliction that if it goes untreated will have serious implications that vary from suicidal tendencies and eventual suicide, serious criminal behavior of all levels and eventual incarceration to an establishment of psychic care which can be either a normal hospital or a prison institution. And it does not get better with time. Without proper care it will only get worse. An aspect as important as identifying, learning and understanding, is the correct diagnosis. It is often confused with other afflictions like cyclothymic, personality and attention deficit disorders. All of these can co-exist or included in a bipolar disorder, but they can also exist as separate conditions. This is the most important reason for seeking the advice of an appropriate medical professional. If the diagnosis is incorrect then no treatment will provide the expected and required results. Bipolar disorder is preventable under certain conditions. It is well documented that genetic and biological factors create vulnerable individuals along with problematic childhood (especially through child abuse issues) and a family environment that is of a highly conflictual nature. Prevention also focuses on the worse possible contributor to almost any kind of disease which is stress. Another factor to be taken under consideration when treating BPD is that there is a high percentage of recurrence which is as high as 40% of the cases that presented recovery. This means that people that suffer from this disorder should undergo periodic monitoring of their situation in order to prevent a relapse. But, as the saying goes, the most important of all steps is to recognize that there is a problem. The people in the immediate environment are not always contributing to that, through constantly criticizing abnormal behaviors, and sometimes through punishment of those behaviors. This is the absolute worst thing to do for a person suffering from BPD. If the victim itself does not seek the solution, then all treatments will be from ineffective to partially effective. If you are suffering from BPD, you have to want to get better. Everything else is just the procedure on how to do it.
