"She may be cute but don't be fooled. She is a porcupine."

✨️ARC review✨️

Oh this was just really sweet. A breath of fresh air.

Though the writing wasn't quite for me it was truly wonderful! Uplifting, woman empowering woman, and bringing humour, heart and light. A super quick read with some real wholesome characters and just people you just know, you would absolutely adore in real life.

I also love that it shows anything can happen, within opening a shop, finding customers found friends, losing a shoe in a real cinderella moment, right down to standing up for yourself in a gym. It's a story of embracing who you are and surround yourself with good people and I am all here for it! I also loved Victoria and Cameron's dynamic - super fun!

The story revolves around four women (Ellie, Grace, Jess, and Victoria) all at different stages of their lives and trying to find their sense of self. The events lead up to them forming a small, uplifting community of women supporting women.

Thanks to whimsywordspr and the author for making me a part of the ARC team for an honest review.

This is a very positive, quick, and breezy read, full of optimism and "bling."

The characters being at different stages of their lives effectively reiterates the fact that no one's life trajectory is linear.

I loved the genuine moments between them, where the older women uplift the younger with their experience and wisdom, while the younger help the older see things from a fresh perspective and an unbridled sense of wonder.

The best part about this story is how it shines a spotlight on the importance of community. It highlights the positives of people fighting their own battles yet somehow standing by others who are doing the same.

I found the narrative quite good initially; the atmosphere and mood were set well, and we get insightful glimpses into the characters' feelings even though it’s not a first-person POV.

I had mixed feelings about the characters, though. I was rooting for Jess and Grace the most. While Grace's arc somewhat delivered, Jess's did not. At one point, her actions became enough of a red flag that she needed therapy rather than just community support. (btw I say this as someone who actively pushes people away and getting therapy)

I liked how Ellie's story didn't take the conventional route, but I would have liked to see how the feelings developed on Cam's end, as the relationship milestones felt rather abrupt.

The biggest gripe for me was the editing in this story. It really derailed the experience I was trying to have with what is fundamentally a good premise. There were numerous repetitive texts and dialogues, and at one point, entire scenes were repeated. That's something I just can't overlook as it was literally hindering my reading. (For some reason, I got the impression the story was set in the USA until the later parts of the book, but that might just be my comprehension skills lol)

I also felt the concept could have been more impactful with the inclusion of any curvy/plus-sized women or women of color (if they were present, it wasn't emphasized enough to be noticed). The core idea of Shoperapy seemed to be that fashion is for everyone, and the representation could have reflected that more broadly.

Unfortunately, I expected a better experience with this one, but it fell short of my hopes.
This is a 2.5/5 read (rounded up to 3 stars).

Firstly, I would like to express my utmost gratitude and joy to Whimsy Words PR for this review opportunity!! Thank you for giving me this chance and I’m so excited to review more from you in the future 🥹

I knew immediately from Shoperapy’s story would be lighthearted and full of happiness and laughter. Shoperapy follow’s the perspectives of four women, Ellie, Grace, Victoria and Jess, who team up together at Ellie’s dazzling new shopping boutique and work through each of their individual relationship struggles & fears together in the name of retail therapy and female friendship.

The characters throughout Shoperapy were definitely my favourite part of the novel. Ellie is such a bright and bold character, this is seen from her introduction. I loved how determined and eager she was from the start and didn’t let the negativity and obstacles which arose throughout the story stop her from fulfilling her dreams.

Grace is kind and sweet and learns that she does truly deserve the soft and gentle love she pines for as she overcomes the heartbreak of her ex and meets someone new. Victoria is headstrong and determined but is scared at the idea of love after her recent divorce, until she meets someone which changes her perspective on love. Jess is shy and timid at approaching someone at her work who she has had a little crush on but then gradually her views on this change throughout the story. Ellie helps each of these women pursue their romantic love lives, but most importantly the platonic love between the four of them sets the foundation in Shoperapy.

I loved the aspect of Ellie’s blog throughout the Shoperapy too and I love Scott’s inclusion of this. The blog honestly felt like a nod to the days of Gossip Girl and I loved how nostalgic this meant to me. Ellie’s blog was also very important in each of the girl’s stories and I loved how it was implemented so effortlessly throughout the story.

I’d like to thank Stephanie Scott and Whimsy Words PR again for the opportunity to review such a wonderful book. I truly hope others feel the same lighthearted joy which I felt at the end of this book 🤍

Ellie Edwards has opened a clothing shop but is struggling to entice new customers into the store. On the look out for a project, Ellie decides to go on the search for someone who needs a bit of free retail therapy - she finds Grace who has been stood up for a date.

Ellie explains that she doesn’t just want a clothes store, she wants to help women feel empowered with clothes, in life and be elevated to better things. With one happy customer - combining both shopping and therapy, so begins the start of Shoperapy!

The Pro's:
1) This story is so fun and overwhelming optimistic - you can’t leave this book without a smile on your face and a skip in your step!

2) The book really centres on female empowerment - whether it be in regards to how you dress or your actions to yourself and others, it really shows the positivity of lifting yourself and others up

3) Ellie is so warm and sparkly - you cannot dislike her! Reminds me so much of Elle Woods in Legally Blonde

The Con's:
1) Ellie doesn’t have the best taste in men lol! (I wasn’t a big fan of her love interest in the book)

The Quotes:

1) “Fashion is fun and healing,” Ellie replied. “Remember, no one can define your worth but you. Now, let’s get you this outfit - it’s time to show the world your sparkle!”

2) “It’s taken me a long time in life to learn this, but it’s the truest thing you’ll ever hear: A man will show you if he’s interested just like he will show you if he’s not. It’s not complicated.”

3) “Confidence comes from knowing that it's okay not to be perfect.”

The Summary:
If I had to describe this book - I would say it is very similar in vibes to a mash up of Legally Blonde and The Secret Dreamworld of a Shopaholic. Shoperapy is so overwhelmingly positive and optimistic, you cannot read it without a big smile on your face! Ellie is so warm and endearing, you want her to succeed. There are other characters too with their own stories. Overall the book is focussed on female empowerment and how you can lift up yourself and others - whether it be with beautiful clothes or by supporting your friends.

Summed up in a sentence?:
Shopping and therapy? Shoperapy!

I rated the book 4 stars.

A big thank you to Whimsy Words PR and Stephanie Scott for the opportunity to read and review!

2.5 rounded up to 3

I think this book has the potential to be something really special; it’s bright, fun, and lighthearted with amazing themes of women supporting women, female friendship, and learning to love yourself before opening up to others.

Ellie is a bold and brave main character who everyone truly does need in their life. Her kindness never comes across as patronising or fake; she simply is that day of sunshine you need to brighten your day. Victoria, Grace, and Jess round out the cast brilliantly, with their own vibrant personalities and their own struggles they learn to overcome and grow from throughout the story. I can honestly feel the love and passion that went into this story and never once did I feel bored or unwilling to continue.

However, this book is in need of serious editing. Not only due to numerous grammatical and formatting mistakes (missing speech marks, odd line breaks, lack of distinction between text conversations and regular prose), the latter half of the book suffers from increasingly distracting levels of repetition, including whole chunks of text that are copy pasted from the end of one chapter into the beginning of the next. There are so times where the tense changes midway through sentences. I wish I was just being nit-picky but these issues cropped up every couple of pages and I found them really distracting.

Furthermore, the author lives in Scotland and the book is set in Scotland, yet is littered with Americanisms and does not feel like Scotland at all. Grace works in an ice cream shop by the sea which is constantly busy and if you know anything about the weather in Scotland, you would understand why this makes no sense. I didn’t even realise the book was set in Scotland until explicitly told, I genuinely thought it was set in America. There’s no accents, no accurate weather or descriptions of the landscape or the town, it’s just casually dropped in about halfway through.

I did enjoy Shoperapy, despite its shortcomings. It genuinely made me fall warm and fuzzy inside; it made me feel proud to be a woman and keen to open my heart up to lift up the other women in my life, which I’m sure was the authors goal (and by which she succeeded). But in order for this book to be as successful as I believe it can and should be, it needs a lot work, editing, and polish and with that I think Shoperapy could be a great hit in the chick-lit space.

Thank you to Whimsy Words PR and the author Stephanie Scott for providing me with a copy of Shoperapy in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

I knew I wanted to read this one straight away. It sounded fun and uplifting. I was not let down. Ellie is the kind of person we all need in our lives - someone who lifts up others. There was a definite sense of believing in you as I read.
All of the main female characters are relatable and likeable. There were moments I wanted to cry with them and moments I wanted to scream at them - but I always wanted to laugh along with them.
If you are looking for something to life your mood then I would highly recommend a visit to Shoperapy where Ellie will greet you with open arms.

This book is a whole vibe. Book girlies if "Emily in Paris" and "Devil wears Prada" had a book baby "Shoperapy" would be it, cute as hell and wearing teeny tiny Blahniks
I resonated a bit too well with "V" and Chase has to be Stanley Tucci (I love Stanley Tucci)
This book is girl power with badass females at every turn. Each of them spurned on my shop owner Ellie.
This is an cosy read that has you kicking feet and feeling like Wonder Woman and always turning the page for more.
It's the literary version of putting on your favourite pertume, taking your bra off at the end of the day, that 1st sip of wine (feel good 100) You know what I mean don’t you girls
It's a 5 read from me

Shoperapy by Stephanie Scott

This was such a fun read, I've never read a book in this style before and it was so much fun. My favourite thing was that all the women raised each other up and there was no tearing each other down!

Chase is honestly the Gay BFF everyone wants I know I do! There with a shoulder to cry on and ice cream but also Bubbles 🫧 🍾 and I love me some bubbles 🥂

It was great to follow Ellie, Victoria, Jess and Grace's journeys and whether they will get over their heartache 💔 and the adventure/mishaps they get up to on the way!

I'm a sucker for a book with my name in even if I apparently did break Cameron's heart 🤣 and I really want to have a PJ and Bubbles night with friends now.

Thank you so much for letting me read this book it was an absolute joy 🫶

Just what I needed! This was an enjoyable, lighthearted read perfect for those who love women empowering women, second chances, romance, friendship and fashion.

This was a fabulous easy read. I enjoyed all the characters and chapters written from the main female characters POV. Each character added something but all their stories intertwined with each other. I was eager to see if Ellie would make her new boutique a success.

It was a fun, girly read. I think we all need a Shoperapy! Thank you Stephanie for sending me a copy. I hope there’s another book in the making!

Thanks so much to Stephanie Scott and whimsey words pr for sending me a physical copy of the book to advance read and review.

The story of Ellie who opened Shoperapy in the hopes to sell amazing clothing and create a space for women to support one another, and it does.

I enjoyed the story of Ellie, Victoria, Grace and Jess, showing each of their relationships insecurities and how they came together as an unlikely group of friends to support each other.

A really relatable story In terms of the friendship and reactions to love and loss within relationships

I would have liked more background on where this was set as it felt a lot like it was set in the US and talked a lot of being near the beach but was actually set in Scotland, the scene setting needed to be more descriptive to allow me to feel where I was.

I will note I struggled with there being a lot of repetition in the book some within the same paragraph, some parts of the story didn’t make sense as I felt the previous part was missing, one scene was repeated twice but in a different location, also one whole chapter was repeated - over all I found the last part difficult to follow because of this.

I'll admit, as a "Book Hoarding Dragon," I was a little hesitant about a shopping-themed story, but Shoperapy completely won me over! This isn't just about retail therapy; it's a beautiful, heartwarming look at the "Meadowbank Sisterhood" and the power of found family.

The characters-Ellie, Grace, Victoria, and Jess— felt like real friends by the end of the book. It's a gentle, emotional, and cozy read that feels like a warm hug on a snowy day. If you love small-town settings and stories about women supporting women, you absolutely need to read this!

Thank you Whimsy Words PR and the author; Stephanie Scott for an arc for this gem of a story!

Lucky enough to read this book as part of an influencer team. Was exactly what I expected. Easy read with the best vibe. Ellie is a great main character wanting to help everyone find love even although she’s not interested herself or is she?
Love how the book is based in a fashion boutique in what I think is a fictional town in Scotland where I live.
Although parts of the book are not professionally edited it does not take away from the vibe unless you’re looking for a literary masterpiece.
4.5 stars due to the writing in parts but upped to a five for vibe.

Was so looking forward to this book as seen great reviews on Instagram. Was not let down when I received it as a book influencer.
Pros: vibe, main character Ellie and friends and the setting of Shoperapy. Would love that boutique in my town.
Cons: Although it’s written by an Indie author would have benefited from professional editing but does not put you off the book as is such a light read.
Recommend to everyone who loves, female friendships, no spice like me and second chances.

What a fabulous feel good book. Knew I would love it from the pink sparkly cover but didn’t know I would relate to it so well. Yes my ex woke up one day and moved to Australia to find himself. So totally related to Grace.
A very light book about friendships, new romances and woman lifting each other up. Loved the vibe and a great book if you need to put a smile on your face. Congratulations to Stephanie on her debut novel, I hope there are more books coming out soon.

👠 Meet Ellie Edwards — the best friend you didn’t know you needed!
When Ellie’s life unravels, she pours her heart (and all her savings) into Shoperapy — a boutique where fashion meets healing. 💄✨ A fashionista fairy godmother, Ellie helps the women of Meadowbank find THE outfit for whatever life is throwing at them.
Before long, Shoperapy becomes more than a shop, it’s a safe space, a therapy room, and the start of some unexpected friendships 💕
✨ Meet the women:
👗 Grace — freshly dumped when her boyfriend “finds himself” abroad
👠 Victoria — newly divorced and struggling with her confidence
💄 Jess — secretly in love with her best friend at work
This is a fun, light-hearted romcom filled with found family, imperfectly relatable characters, and friendship stitched together with style.💄
If you love romcom vibes, friendship goals, and retail therapy through rhinestones and ruched tops then this book needs to be on your TBR ASAP ✨

Huge thanks to Stephanie Scott and WhimsyWords PR for the opportunity to read and review.
