- Alli Sinclair, bestselling and award winning author, screenwriter and producer.

Five Sisters. Five Senses. One Gift. No Instructions.“There’s nothing more unnerving than the sound of a scream.”

Serena and her psychic sisters read a private letter their father wrote to their mother, revealing a clue about his disappearance that they never knew about before. But as they struggle to gain further insight through their sensory visions, trying to solve the mystery continues to prove elusive.

The Delta Girls try to move on, balancing their supernatural abilities with the daily trials of being teenagers. Studious Serena teams with the classroom outcast, Lara, and her charming brother, Damon, for a school science project. They end up studying more than they bargained for, though, when strange sounds come from rooms in Lara and Damon's house. There are voices, but only Serena can hear them.

When the trio experiment with Electronic Voice Phenomena (EVP), they are able to record and hear the voices on the computer. Bringing in her extraordinary sisters with each of their psychic senses to help, Serena must figure out who the voices belong to - and what they want - if she is to have a chance at stopping an impending tragedy before it's too late.

This stunning paranormal series blends the intensity of teenage romance with breathless suspense, and introduces five young women who share a haunted past, an extraordinary gift, and an uncertain future.

“What was I supposed to do, tell him I’d just heard ghosts?”

This was an interesting paranormal story, with the girls playing ghostbuster!

Serena started to hear the voices of ghosts in this story, which would have really freaked me out! She seemed to handle it pretty well though, and it was nice that the girls were able to work as a team again.

The storyline in this was about the girls trying to get rid of some ghosts from the house where Serena’s potential new boyfriend lived, by combining their talents. There was a bit of romance, but not as much as in the previous book, and again I think younger teens in particular would enjoy this.

The ending to this was satisfactory, although we were left with a bit of a cliff-hanger with regard to the girls’ father.

Sound is the second book in the Delta Girls series by the talented Juliet Madison. I read and reviewed Sight earlier this year and was intrigued by the storytelling, and the sisters.

Sight focused on Savannah and her ability to see more than those around her. The story also allowed us an insight into her siblings. The Delta Girls, as they have fondly nicknamed themselves, are twin and triplet Delcarta sisters. Each sister has an extra sensory ability that matches one of the senses and the initial of their first name, which was a quirky little fact I loved.

Sound is Serena’s story and we get a much deeper insight into her mind, her life and her ability. Life continues for the sisters as they explore their abilities and hone their intuition and with them sharing such close bonds there is no way we could have a story without them all playing a large role.

Of course there is an element of romance, of the sweet first love variety. That awkward cute ‘will we end up in the Friend zone’ type romance that’s fun to read.

Being a dedicated Juliet Madison fan, this series interested me and I am really enjoying the books. I love the way the individual stories of the five sisters is playing out, all involved but a specific book dedicated to each girl, in line with their particular gift.
Serena is forced into involvement with Lara and her brother Damon through a class project. Serena eventually becomes good friends with Lara, someone who finds closeness to others away from her family, difficult.
The evolving of the psychic abilities of the five sisters and the involvement of others who become close to the Delta Girls makes interesting and very fascinating reading. I am really enjoying the flow of the stories, the bond of the sisters and the way they handle their individual gifts.
Very much appreciate being able to read the stories one after the other and I'm so enjoying the reading. Designed originally as Young Adult reading this series will appeal to a very much wider group. Happily recommend the series to everyone who enjoys a great story line from a lovely Australian author.

I received an eARC of this book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of this review.

Sound
by is Serena’s story in series. Serena is the middle triplet, the smart, shy sister. She also has the ability to hear the future. As her and her sisters try to unravel the mystery surrounding their father’s disappearance, Serena begins to feel that it is a hopeless case. Trying to move on and get back to their lives proves to be difficult for all of them. When Serena is assigned a biology project with Lara and her brother Damon, studying winds up the least of their problems.

I really enjoyed Serena! She is a quirky character. She always has her head stuck in a book, she enjoys science and figuring things out, and she has a big heart. Her downside is her self-confidence which is fledgling at best. She’s kind if a bit backwards and she seems to really care about those around her.

Damon and Lara are great characters in addition to the sisters. If I thought that Serena was quirky, Lara is over the top, but it makes sense when you realize she has Asperger’s syndrome, a high-function form of Autism. The author did a wonderful job of conveying Lara’s disability without it disabling her. I liked the awareness that it brings to not just the main character but to the reader as well. Lara is quirky, she likes her lists, and she can/does have a breakdown every now and then. Damon makes a wonderful brother for Lara. He’s kind, caring, a bit of a goofball, but he loves his sister and will do anything for her. It’s no wonder Serena falls for him. I did too!

The plot revolves around ghosts haunting Damon and Lara’s house. When Serena firsts hears them, she wonders how in the world she will explain this to them, but she doesn’t have to. Instead they explain it to her. I LOVED this! It made for an interesting read as they explored what was in Damon’s house and how to rid themselves of it. Serena is probably my favorite sister so far in the series and she brings her scientific knowledge alone with her psychic powers to aid Damon and Lara.

Overall this is a really fun read. Serena is a wonderful, easy character to like and Damon and Lara make great side characters to the sisters. The plot of this one kept me on my toes too. With the first book, I easily guessed what was going on but not so with Sound. I was surprised over and over again all the way to the ending which by the way is a worse cliffhanger than the first!!! If you enjoy young adult fiction, urban fantasy, and a good paranormal mystery, than this is the book for you.

Book Review- Sound by Juliet Madison

Serena is a Delta girl with the gift of sound. Her brain is also pretty analytical, solving problems that seem to arise. She and her sisters are dealing with seeing their dad’s ghost and reading the letter their mom had. They don’t want their mom to know they snooped. They don’t want to upset her. She seems to be moving on.
So when Serena gets paired with her science partners for a project, she gets thrown into a ghost mystery. Her partners, Damon and Lara, are twins who live in an old, huge house. At one of their study groups Serena hears strange voices. Damon and Lara don’t appear to have heard. Serena has to work hard to keep her ability a secret. She is also developing feelings for Damon.
The twins’ family life is complicated. Serena gets swept up in Lara’s personality and her need for control. She is also drawn into solving the ghost mystery. There are three ghosts haunting their house and Serena helps figure out why. She is also trying to figure out where the scream came from in one of her visions that occurred with her sisters. It seems a life and death situation that the sisters are desperate to puzzle out. Everything gets complicated with Damon and Lara before Serena is able to figure out exactly whose life is in danger. The Delta Girls have to trust in their instincts and their abilities.
I really like this series. I’ve now read the first two books, Savannah’s story and Serena’s story. Serena’s story isn’t as full of danger and adventure. Her story centers around a more intellectual, problem solving. The ending and the almost fall down the stairs are really the only danger that Serena finds herself in.
The mystery that surrounds their father and their visions are the focus of the sisters. Serena also needs to deal with her feelings for Damon and providing balance with school work and Lara. The trials and tribulations of a teenage psychic that has the gift of heightened sound. Her gift is fascinating. She hears things others don’t which can hit her suddenly or get songs stuck in her head. That would drive me crazy. Hearing things I can’t always see is a gift I’m not sure I would want. I spent some of the time reading asking myself how I would react in this situation if I had her talent.
Serena is a fascinating character and part of a unique group of sisters trying to use their individual gifts to help people and find the truth. I can’t wait to read Sasha’s story. I give this book a 4 out of 5

So, this second addition to the Delta Girls' story is told from the POV of our second youngest child, Serena; I guess we are going up from age? Youngest to oldest.

Serena is a much more analytical mind then her sisters, always analyzing what goes on around her. The vast and detailed descriptions she had going on in her head at all times were endlessly entertaining. And, any girl who's a fan of The Big Bang Theory and reading is a serious win in my mind.

I definitely identify with Serena most, out of each of these five young women. From what I have gleaned so far from each girls' unique personalities, I can most liken myself to this girl. So far, though, neither Savannah or Serena seem to be able to reveal much about their oldest sister, Talia. I hope to hear more about her as with get closer to her personal story.

Hobbies: From what I've gathered so far, showing how unique each girl is within their family.

Savannah: Volleyball, Soccer (The sporty girl)
Serena: Violin, Reading (The analytical girl)
Tamara: Cooking, Pinterest (The creative girl)
Talia: Movies, Second "Parent" (The leader)
Sasha: Fashion, Magazines (The girly girl)

I just want to take a moment to express my serious love of Lara. That girls is all the goals! She may be a bit strict and prickly when you first meet her, but she warms up and shows us her soft, gooey inside once she gets comfortable outside socializing. And that girl is endlessly hilarious without even trying. That contract that she came up with in the epilogue (for those of you who already read this, I can feel you smiling)...AMAZING!! Haha. I hope to see more of her in the books to follow; at least a little bit.

As these girls grow in their abilities as psychic Delta Girls, they leave their positive marks on Iris Harbor through the many families that they affect with their visions. Soon, I expect, a large gathering of people will know their name and they greatness that they brig to those that they meet; in life and in death.

This was a good story with well-devleoped characters and storyline. I think this book is geared more toward teen audience, but it can be enjoyable for adults too. Looking forward to reading more from this author!
