The Lost Arts #3

The Lost Art of Revealing Hidden Truths

Rate this book
Perian and Brannal are more in love than ever, but the challenges facing them are growing exponentially. With Renny suffering a serious setback, a training exercise gone disastrously wrong, and a betrayal that leads to the most shocking revelation of all, their future is at stake as never before.

Perian might not be a Mage or a Warrior, but he’s surrounded by friends, and Brannal has been wonderful about showing his commitment. From games with a convalescing Renny to Fire Festivals with friends to nights with Brannal, Perian is enjoying everything the castle has to offer. Well, almost everything. Amidst all the bright moments, shadows are starting to creep in.
Even in locations they thought were safe, Perian, Brannal, and their friends are beset by demons, kidnapping, and attacks. When explosive secrets are revealed, everything they thought they knew is suddenly in question. Is love really strong enough to conquer all, or will these secrets prove to have the ultimate destructive power?

The Lost Art of Revealing Hidden Truths is a cozy MM fantasy romance with plenty of steam. Told in single POV, it gives Perian and Brannal their hard-won HEA, with more than one surprise along the way. It is best read in order.

“Life with you is never boring, Perian.”

To be honest, I wasn’t sure I was going to enjoy this, since the previous installments have all been okay, but not amazing.
I’m glad I stuck with it, because this was my favorite of the series so far.
When hidden truths come to light, will Perian and Brannal be able to survive them?

“I like the way you see me.” Perian swallowed, smiled, and pressed another kiss to his chest. “I like the way you see me, too.”

It starts off extremely cozy, like the previous books, but then the plot really kicks in.
It all begins to make sense, plot holes reveal their purpose. There’s action and intrigue and feels. Angst and spice and found family. Adventure and fun training exercises and bonding.
It’s really hard to write a sensical review without spoiling anything, but just know that the slowness of the other books was well worth the wait.

Maybe he’d never quite fit in because he wasn’t supposed to.

What surprised me the most was the level of emotion this sparked in me. What began as a (almost boringly) cozy romantic fantasy evolved into a full-blown magical world, with awesome characters and a sweet love story.
I didn’t realize how attached to these characters I’d gotten, but they’ve captured my heart, and I can’t wait for the finale and to see everyone get a wonderful HEA.

“You’re the light of my life,” Brannal told him, eyes soft and dark. Perian smiled. “And you’re the fireball that lights up mine.”

I received a copy of this book from Gay Romance Reviews, and this is my honest review.

When I started reading this, I said to a friend 'if this author wrote books where things happened, they could take over the MM fantasy genre'. The writing is excellent but I got frustrated with book two because barely anything happened. And finally! It happened! Things happened! Like actual mortal peril and everything. Admittedly the first half of this book felt like I was being slowly spoonfed evidence for things I already knew, things I'd suspected since book one and had confirmed in book two, just not officially confirmed. But the second half had action, and things happening, and action, and betrayals! Things happened, finally, and it was absolutely amazing! I couldn't stop reading.

I was a little disappointed with the ending, so much of the external plot was left unfinished and I really need that. There's book four coming to tie everything up, but with new POVs and new romances. Obviously Perian and Brannal have been established for a while, but I was still expecting book four to be Perian's point of view. I should probably reserve judgement until I actually get it, but it feels like a very strange shape for a series. Still, this was an excellent book and I've become very invested in these characters.

Thanks to GRR for the ARC

This is the best so far of an amazing series!

This series has such a good build, both plot wise, romantically and emotionally. With the extra novellas between each main book you get such a wonderful exposure to the world Perian and Brannal live in. It starts as sweet and cozy with some little hints here and there for the plot and then builds to this book where we have reveals, emotional crescendos and some fantastic relationship building. I don’t want to say too much because I don’t want to spoil things for anyone. I will say that not everything is revealed so whilst this feels in some ways like the ‘big moment’ in the series I love that it isn’t. That sounds like a weird thing to say but I always feel a sense of loss in a series when there is a big reveal and then the series ends. I like that we’ve got more to look forward to and that while Perian and Brannal won’t be the focus in terms of the romance we’ll still get to see them and all the amazing characters we’ve got to love so far. I’m super excited for more and to see how everything else plays out. This is a world I’ve found myself falling in love with I’m so glad that there will be more to come!

Amazing story that made me feel BIG THINGS.

There are two things that I think are key to know going into this book, just to set expectations accordingly:
1) the “cozy” part gets a lot less cozy in the last half (it’s a WILD ride), and
2) I’m not *quite* sure I’d agree with the marketing that this is the HEA for the main couple. Are they in love and together and happy? Yes. Is everything resolved? Well, no. But the author makes it clear that they won’t be forgotten, so I’m hoping for some more resolution (and redress) for them in the next book, too.

That said, I absolutely ate it up and cannot WAIT for the next installment. I truly think this is a talented author who knows how to lay the groundwork early on for things you don’t even realize until much later (I thought I knew, but I didn’t… not fully).

This series has been one of my very favorite finds this year!

The Lost Art of Revealing Hidden Truths is the third book in The Lost Arts series. This series is best read in order. We are back with Perian and Brannal for more of the story. This book was better than book 2. We get a lot of things happening. There is still a lot of relationships being built in this book. Some things that happened were a bit surprising. As I've said before the characters and world building are amazing. I can't wait for the next book in the series. I would definitely recommend this book and series.

*I got an arc*

CW (listed at the beginning of the book but these are mine): sick child (not dying), SA & strangling of a minor character (not by a main), attempted SA of a main character, isolation & imprisonment, near fatal injury of an prominent side character

Perian and Brannal are back from their long weekend but unfortunately everything is not how they left it: Renny had a dizzy spell and fell off her horse; Cormall seems even more upset at Perian than usual; and Perian isn't really sure if Brannal wants him to stick around permanently. Perian is slowly getting used to being a pair with the Summus but will he always be second to Brannal's role?

--

This book hit me in the feels. I initially thought this book would skew a bit more towards smut than plot but oh was I wrong. "The Lost Art of Revealing Hidden Truths" lures readers into complacence before tossing them off an emotionally-charged cliff. As in the previous books, Perian isn't quite sure his role in the castle: he loves Brannal, Renny, and his friends but he also has a home he is neglecting. Ellie Ash does such an excellent job of making the reader feel what Perian does: the love, the determination, and also the hollowness of isolation. I love seeing Perian's relationship with his friends and really enjoy his obliviousness about why he can sense romantic entanglements that others cannot.

My only real quip (without spoilers) is that the Queen's behaviour towards Perian is illogical. She is grateful whenever Perian helps Renny but also make choices that harm Renny through Perian (without any real context on why she felt this was a good idea). The Queen states that Perian is no longer useful (for spoilery reasons) but has no basis for feeling this way. She comes off almost as a two-dimensional 'ice queen' rather than an actual person. While these books are much better than a lot of MM books for remembering that women exist, the Queen's role as an antagonist is a bit weak and reads more as using a woman to create a conflict rather than the conflict being a natural progression of the plot.

I was initially frustrated that this conflict left the series feeling unfinished, but see that there will one more book in the series and am excited to see how it plays out! Also I have a headache from crying. Ellie Ash does too good of a job dragging readers into the emotion of the story!

My reviews are my own. If you liked this book, I’m glad you enjoyed it. If not, I respect your opinion.  This is merely my opinion, so let's keep it courteous.

Ok, I'm a bit confused. The first book of this series was about love and finding new family and friends. It was a slow-paced but sweet, and it introduced us to fun characters, and at least it had a plot, the mysterious prince, and the princess's sickness.

The second did a 360 and was mostly about sex; nothing happened, the whole book could have been skipped.

Then this third one, I have no idea what it was about. The first 50% is about nothing important, then there is 40% about sex, 3% about silk gowns, 2% about training, and the last 5% is about the actual story plot. This is supposed to be a magical world, but it is pushed to the background in all the books; it is just mentioned as an unimportant aspect.

I have imagined, based on the first book, that Perian would find the power to somehow help the Princess's sickness, discover the prince's mystery, and live HEA. That doesn't exactly happen. Perian continues to be a slacker with no life goals other than to continue to do nothing other than cry and suffer from verbal diarrhea. Such a useless character. They go to festivals that have no meaning, they continue picnics, and really, nothing important happens. By the time they discovered what was really happening, I was ready to slap someone. What a crappy resolution. Even if there is a Happy Ending, it was so poorly written.

The whole series is full of shallow comments and people. Prince Horsey is the only good character. I get it, they are hot, but enough about muscles and handsome comments, move along! Can't ugly people find love?

I liked the part where he saves someone from a nasty character. I wish it were that easy IRL. But I was definitely expecting a better finale to the series.

Such a letdown! Will definitely skip book 4 because I wished both Cormal would be dead and he is not, and the Queen was punished for being such a selfish idiot. I don't care for either of them being happy ever! I wish Cornal had been painfully killed, and the Queen had been completely ignored by the kids. Dropping the series.

On to my next adventure, Happy Readings!!!

THE LOST ART OF REVEALING HIDDEN TRUTHS is the third book in The Lost Arts series that follows Brannal and Perian. You really need to read the prior books in this series for it to make sense. I have loved the other books and couldn't wait for the Grand Finale!

This instalment begins with them arriving back at the castle following their short break. It doesn't take long for them to get back into the swing of things, although a normal hourly separation feels hard to begin with. It starts off all nice and cosy, before it kicks up a gear, and then, near the end, all hell breaks loose. Did my heart break? Oh, absolutely, on more than one occasion, and for more than one reason, too.

I was still having kittens and cursing the author with my every breath as I got closer and closer to the end. How could she wrap everything up? Surely it wasn't going to left as it was? I was literally begging Perian to read that frigging book, needing him to reach the conclusion I came to in the last book. I may or may not have screamed when I read the final paragraph!

BUT

I then turned over the page to find out there's a fourth book in this series, and it isn't a trilogy as I had mistakenly thought! I honestly can't describe the relief I felt!!! I know it's going to be from other people's perspectives, but I really hope Perian and Brannal get their story all wrapped up with a pretty bow.

The pacing was absolutely perfect for me, and I loved how things slotted into place. Deeply emotional, with plenty of highs and lows, this was such a fantastic read. I can't recommend this book highly enough, but please start at the beginning so you get the full benefit. I can't wait for the next!!!

** Same worded review will appear elsewhere. **

* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book; the comments here are my honest opinion. *

The Lost Art of Revealing Hidden Truths is the third book in Ellie Ash’s The Lost Arts series, and it is a story that has me conflicted. A part of me – quite a large part, if I am honest – considered giving this a one-star rating. The nicer part of me, however, argued for a two-star rating. Thus, in truth, this is a one-point-five-star rating that I decided to round up.

For me, The Lost Arts series has been one that never quite worked for me in the way I had hoped. The first book was sweet, yet it did not have enough plot. The second book was where I was wishing for plot, yet it was a filler. It could have easily been removed from the series, merged with books one and three, or kept as a bonus and the reading experience would not have changed. The third book was one where I entered with low expectations because of the second book, and those expectations were met. They were not exceeded, but they were met. Why? Because everything that I had predicted in the first book turned out to be true. I would not have minded this if things had been explored in more depth, but so much of this third book repeated the vibes-only feeling of the prior books. There was so much that could have been done throughout, yet I felt like a good edit was needed to remove the feeling of this being some lengthy fanfiction focused on sending feel good messages. I do not mind feel good messages – in fact, there are some nice messages throughout the series – but I need a plot to go with them. A small percentage of the three books has been dedicated to plot, which is not enough for me.

Sadly, at this point, I need to accept that there is not enough substance in this series to keep me reading. Although there are plenty of interesting things that could play out in the fourth book, things have been too repetitive thus far for me to continue. While I can see why many will appreciate the vibes of this series, I really need a solid plot that shines consistently throughout to remain invested.

I would like to thank GRR for the opportunity to read and review this ARC.

Ok so The Lost Art of Revealing Hidden Truths was THE installment that helped me to GET what the first two books were putting down.

I'm not ashamed to say that I needed the clarification…even though everything's now making obvious sense in retrospect. 100% ymmv

This has turned into such a good story 3 books in! With some exciting and interesting worldbuilding, a ton of great characters to root for, and some VERY VERY VILE ones too, Perian and Brannal's romance was a lovely one that honestly made me cry a lot in this book.

Well, mostly Perian did tbh. Because he was the sweetest, most precious darling from since page 1 of Book 1, and his gorgeous heart that helped to heal, boost, love from an authentic space, care for and share good vibes, endured in earnest to the end of now, Book 3! Super babe in every way and I adored him immensely!

***And as the title suggests, hard truths were revealed through sometimes very challenging, terrifying and abominable ways that I'd found triggering, so please mind your hearts and your healing journeys, loves!***

I'm very happy that everything is now out in the open, and that Brannal and Perian ended up stronger and more in love than ever! This was 1000% more moving than I thought it was going to be, and I'm living for the fact that my heart got rocked as much as it did! I'm sure I'll be feeling squishy for a while, but more than anything I'm glad that this book made me feel like reading the entire series up until this point was worth the journey!

I'm onto The Lost Art of Life Magic and even though I'm still feeling dimensions of rage at how things went down, I'm going to allow Book 4 to do it's best to change my mind/vibe as Ellie Ash intends. Hopefully, with my heart still glowing from Perian's goodness, warmth and compassion, it will be a great follow up! Can't wait!

4/5. This one was a lot messier than the previous books, but it was mostly contained to around and after the 70% mark. That wasn’t the best time for confusion and such, but I powered through. I love that my theory was correct in the end. There’s a big hole in the discussion on whose HEA this book contains, though…

Prince fucking Horsey. Prince Horsey gets his, too. This pleases me.

I’m off to read the novellas and hunt down the couple of bonus scenes I forgot to re-sign up for the newsletter for. And I guess try for patience as I wait for that fourth and final book to drop.

Something I’d like to note: This is 100% this author’s first series, and as such it contains multitudes. It needs some work there are things that work and things that don’t, but it has the spark in it. You can see the talent and the drive and the work they put in pay off a bit more each chapter; the satisfaction from the process that is the finding of the voice that they’ll have when they have more experience and confidence cinched with that proverbial belt everything is always under. I am definitely going to keep my eye on their future works because I’m impressed with how they took their concept and managed to write a book clearly for the girlies, but made all those parts of it make sense while staying respectful.

All of that aside, manage your expectations. Don’t be mean because it wasn’t perfect. Give encouragement, be kind, and enjoy it for what it is. We want to hug bb authors with vast potential and lovely brains, not boo them out of the market. Y’all gotta give the kindness and good y’all keep expecting the aether to give y’all, ya know? How do y’all think the world learns to have more of both if no one ever wants to be the one showing it how?

There was so much to love about this third story in the Lost Arts series (or fifth is you've read the free prequel about Molun and Arvus, and the side story of Chamis and Bennan). This is not a standalone, but a continuation of book 2. Ellie Ash has built such a fantastic world for her characters to inhabit and what great characters they are - even the villainous ones. There's plenty of action, but the story doesn't just jump from scene to scene, just gently meanders through which makes these scenes all the more startling. It feels like you are living a slice of life in the castle with the mundane as important as the drama. There were genuine laugh out loud moments, especially with Renny and a 'rainy day' picnic. Coupled with high drama and some steamy scenes that never felt like filler or forced, this is my favourite book of the series so far. It answers a lot of questions that I had from previous books, but leaves enough that I can't wait to read the finale. I kept trying to slow down to make it last, but then would realise I’d sped up because I was dying to know what happened next. If I could give this more than 5 * I definitely would.

I am still obsessed with this series

I was so excited to see this on my kindle yesterday, having pre-ordered it when I finished book 2. I've been waiting to find out what happens next for Perian and Brannal, and Renny and Kee and all the others.
I was immediately hooked in again, Perian is such a lovely character and you can't help but adore the quieter, perhaps shyer, Brannal. I already knew from the blurb that Renny has a setback and she was so characteristically frustrated! And then to follow through, seeing her recover so much better than any time previously, and the lovely moments as everyone tries to help her in their own ways. Chamis climbing with her onto a coffee table to escape an imaginary flood is definitely a highlight! (Now you have to read it to find out what that was about!).
I was taken through the highs and lows, the full range of emotions, and triumphant that some of my guesses were right (though others were wrong). Ellie Ash seeds her clues throughout almost like Agatha Christie in her mysteries and I cannot give higher praise. Just such a great book and I am impatient for December when the next is published.

I'm happy I didn't give up on this series.

The magic in this installment was thoroughly explored and explained, which I really appreciated. However, I felt the pacing could have been smoother, as much of the important development was saved for the final book’s climax. While I enjoyed this entry, it might have been even better if the major events were more evenly distributed throughout the story.

I appreciated the depth given to the main relationships throughout the series; the way the characters grew closer felt genuine and thoughtful. Additionally, the portrayal of friendships was a highlight for me; there was a real sense of support and loyalty among the friends, making their dynamics feel strong and relatable. The character interactions added a layer of emotional richness to the story that I really enjoyed.

I’m also eagerly anticipating Cormal’s stories and am excited to see the triumphant return of Perian and Brennal in the next book. There’s so much potential for new adventures and character growth, and I can’t wait to see how the story unfolds!

All in all, this was a good end for the main couple, and some things are left for other installment.

I have less than 80 pages left to read and I’m a wreck.
Let me start by saying that I enjoyed the first two books - I actually started reading this series because I expected a cozy found family romance. And I got that and some nice spice on top, so no complaints here, right?
I didn’t mind that Perian's “hidden truth” was quite obvious to figure out even in the first book. I was actually excited to see how the big reveal was going to play out.
I was not ready for what followed after the “training exercise gone extremely wrong”. Reading the following chapters gutted me. And my big, big problem is with there not being any satisfying resolution to provide catharsis in the end. It’s not enough.
Had the big reveal happened in the first few chapters? Had the rest of the book been about fixing crushed trust and healing the enormous betrayal? I would have been a happy, albeit teary, camper. Alas, now I am a crushed mess left reeling, unable to comprehend what in the hell happened.
I’ll come back to write a more thorough review later, when I’m not so raw. I simply did not foresee an emotional gut punch this potent and extremely poorly timed in this series.

This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

Thanks to Gay Romance Reviews for providing me with an advanced review copy. The choice to provide an honest review is my own.

This is book 3 in a series that has been following the relationship and lives of Perian and Brannal, who get together in book 1. You really need to start with book 1 to enjoy this series fully. I'm looking forward to book 4 which continues the broader plot but is about some other characters whom we have already met.

The first three books are narrated from Perian's point of view and he is a most unusual young fellow. He comes across as a Mary Sue, but bear with it, because there are reasons. I was surprised to learn that these are the first books published by Ellie Ash as she is a very fluid and thoughtful writer. At this point, I'll grab anything she publishes.

The characters are wonderfully drawn. The world building is excellent and the broader fantasy plot is great. As you can tell I'm having a bit of trouble talking up this series without spoiling it!

Oh Perian and Brannel I love you so much. We see the Princess have a relapse but with Perian at her side she starts to get better. He is such a cheerleader for her health and keeps her occupied and not think of her lapse. He has so many friends at the castle and makes people happy and somehow he manages to get people together. There is of course a villain that he must contend with and since he doesn't have any magic to defend himself he does get hurt but he won't let this person hurt someone else. The people in the castle who are servants have sent him small hearts to show that they are happy he was able to help. But with his intervention it has started giving people to think there is something different about him. There is drama that I thought would make my heart break, people being so afraid of something different. I cried at the way they hurt Perian who just wants to help people. But at the end there is redemption for the characters, not perfect, but made me smile again. Love this book and can't wait to see the next one.

Perian is the happiest he has ever been. He has Brannal who knows just how to take care of him. He is surrounded by friends and is able to attend festivals, play with Renny, and spend evenings with friends and his lover. Unfortunately, dark shadows are coming their way resulting in demon attacks and other attacks as well as a kidnapping. When a secret is revealed, Perian knows his life has changed forever.

You cannot help but fall in love with Brannal and Perian. Perian has no problem sharing his sunshine with everyone. Some of the toughest warriors enjoy his company. When tragedy strikes again and again, Perian is not sure how to handle everything. Brannal is there for most of it until he is tricked. Exciting and action packed with enough heat to satisfy even the most discerning, The Lost Art of Revealing Truths is sure to be a winner.

This one was not quite as “cozy” as the others but WOW

This is book three of this series that has been fairly benign until now. This book wrung my emotions up, down and sideways and boy was it good. Poor Perian really gets it in this book and although it was clear that something was different about him from early on in the series I wasn’t expecting all of that to happen. As the blurb says it gives Perian and Brannal their hard won happy ending so I don’t feel like I am giving any spoilers away so you don’t need to worry that the whole book will be just downers. If this is the first book of this series that you have read then put it down, I mean it put it down and go back to the beginning. Then enjoy. Probably put the whole series on your reread once a year list like I am going to.

An amazing series!!

There's so a lot to say about this cosy fantasy story that centres around Perian and Brannal- all of it great!
Ellie Ash has created a wonderful world of warrior mages, regents, a sickly princess, a missing prince, enemy wraith, demons. We got to know these characters from book 1, 2 and the 2 novella, all leading up the ultimate in plot twists that I'm still wrapping my head around!
At the heart of it all is dear Perian, and when you understand his origins, it all falls into place why he brings happiness to most, (and his love of love 😘).
Highly recommend reading the series, it's a really unique world and I loved every minute of being immersed in it.

Although Perian and Brannal are now at the point where they can be sure of their love for one another, their bond with and connection to one another is the least of their concerns. Falling in love does not keep the trouble that they face in this last portion of their story away. The danger comes and things go sideways for this pair and their close companions in a way that still requires resolution for their reputations but not for their relationship. They are solid, but the circumstances still are in flux. It will be interesting to see how this plays out in subsequent books in this series but for now it was good that they have their HEA.
I received an ARC from GRR and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Reading the previous books in order is necessary. goodreads shows this as 331 pages, but it's 422 pages long in my Android Kindle app in the smallest font.

fireballs, berry pie, library & flower sex, Earth Wind & Fire (& water), bloody ribbon, carnelion?, comfortable furniture, the "how"

Is this the end of the series? I hope not. Is this the last we'll see of Perian and Brannal? I hope not! This series is phenomenal! The world-building is incredibly imaginative. Even though it's 3.5 books long so far, the continuity is remarkably consistent. The imagery is stunning and easily imagined. The storyline is gripping and addictive. I really enjoyed reading this book and series. I ardently recommend it!

Well, this one will take you on a very emotional rollercoaster ride !!! We see more of the domestic bliss that Perian & Brannal are living, and you start getting a better sense of where the plot is going (especially all those easter eggs from previous books)..... and just when it's all going oh so beautifully, it comes crashing down....epically !! Definitely takes you through an emotional wringer....and I soooo wanted to knock some sense in Brannal....arrrrgh !!! While there is a happy ending.....there's plenty of threads left unanswered. PS - there is a book 3.5 which takes you through same scenes (end ones in this book) but from Brannal's POV. Free download from authors website - once you've signed up for newsletter. Gotta read book 4 now !!

4.25 stars I have thoroughly enjoyed every book in this cozy series, but this one definitely raised the stakes and my heart rate! Perian finds himself in true danger several times and everyone(?) ends up against him as secrets come out. A twist I thought I saw coming was wrong - and then right? And unexpectedly (to me), there's another book coming. (Yay!)

I love all of the relationships between Perian and his friends almost as much as the one with Brannal. Renny is an adorable side character, and so is Prince Horsey! This book adds some despicableness in villainy, so it is slightly darker than the earlier books, but overall, it is still a cozy read.

The Lost Art of Revealing Hidden Truths is the third book in Ellie Ash's The Lost Arts series. The story starts a bit slow, rehashing bits of book one. A bit draggy. And then, quite unexpectantly, it picked up speed. Violence, true danger. The ending was a bit meh. Perian and Brannal didn't get their HEA I was hoping for. Their relationship is still a bit of a work in progress. There will be a book four. but it's supposed to be about different MCs.
Some plot arcs are finished, some are still dangly. This book was a 4.5 star read for me. I can't wait for the final resolution, looking forward to the next story.
I received an advanced copy and this is my review.

I love Perrian. He is such a ray of sunshine. This installment got under my skin. I give it 3.5 stars, maybe four. Our MCs have an HFN, but I didn’t like how everything was resolved at the end. Or not resolved as the case may be. I get the feeling we are going to have a redemption arc in the next book and I have no problem with that. I just hope people get their stuff straightened out. I had part of the hidden truth figured out already thanks to some fairly good foreshadowing but I felt like poor sweet Perrian got the shaft. I won’t give any spoilers away but make sure you read these in order. I am over here in my corner sweating bullets until the next book comes out.

I wanted to love this book I loved the first book I was so excited I was not a fan of the second book it was okay it just I don't know it just didn't hit for me this third book I'm like okay we're going to get back on track and we're going to do great. I was still left I guess I want to say feeling lacking with this book. I loved the characters in this book and I was very excited that we were going to get this really cool new world and stuff it just feels like the second and third book were written by somebody different than the first book. I'm not sure what happened. I wanted to love this book so much more.

This is definitely my favorite installment so far. The action has picked up quite a bit and there is also some blood and gore. Please heed the trigger warnings carefully as this book is much less cozy than the others. But still syrupy sweet in parts.

I really liked the twist. The groundwork was well laid I believe. And its really cool to pull off a twist like that when its first person pov and the MC has no idea what's going on.

I'm eager to see the final installment. Because while this is the ending for Brannal and Perian, its more of a HFN. Everything needs to be fixed in the castle to get everyone to that HEA.

The third book in this series was awesome. The first half continues to build on the relationships from the first two books. Feeling all of the emotion and passion each character has. With the second half of the book I was literally sitting in my reading chair “clutching my pearls” because I could barely breathe. Let’s just say I love “Prince Horsey” and I never saw the “surprise” coming. I’m glad that Perian and Brannel got their hard fought HEA and that book four will bring more love and intrigue to the kingdom. I highly recommend this entire series. Enjoy!

I already liked the first two books in this series because of the great world-building and excellent writing but there wasn't really a lot happening. In this book the story really gains traction and although I wasn't surprised by one of the revelations I really enjoyed reading how the world reacted to it. It was very emotional - flipping between happiness, despair, love, disappointment and fun. Of course, there are lots of spicy fun-times as well. I'm sure I'll miss Perian's voice but I'm very happy the next book will (also) focus on Molun and Arvus.
