A kingdom risen. A goddess reborn. A world burning red.
Esmyra now knows the truth of her magic, but it’s cost her everything. Draevyn shattered her heart, and she’s sworn to make him pay. But when her hunt uncovers ancient lies, she finds herself entangled in a battle far greater than vengeance.
The truths revealed will unravel everything Esmyra thought she knew about him, herself, and the goddesses risen from the waves. Meanwhile, powers older than any empire stir, enemies wear masks of loyalty, and her own heart betrays her with its unrelenting pull toward the one man she’s vowed to hate.
With her crew caught in the crossfire and Syrena tightening her grip, Esmyra must learn who to trust—and who to destroy—before the tide drags her under. Because every choice carves her fate, and one misstep could strip her of everything she has left…including her soul.

PURE CINEMAAAA (stream of conscious chaotic review coming)
this book was a literal movie playing in my mind while reading. action packed from beginning to end and everything i could’ve hoped for in a highly anticipated sequel! i was a woman possessed and couldn’t put this book down if you had PAID me.
not an ounce of second book syndrome found here. Flame starts off with a bang and picks up right where Wraith ends. if you thought Esmyra was a powerful character in book one BOYYYYY just wait. the character arcs were amazing, and possibly not in the way you’d predict. Esmyra especially is challenged and forced to encounter the deepest parts of herself, and truly she’s a character that just feels so real it’s like you as the reader know her personally.
one of my favorite things about book featuring pirate crews is the found family, and Flame delivered on that front too 🥹 Jak is one of my favorite side characters quite literally ever, and i love how the fmc’s relationships aren’t limited to romantic.
ALL IN ALL THIS BOOK IS A MASTERPIECE if you haven’t read wraith, DO SO IMMEDIATELY.
this book was everything I wanted in a sequel oh my GOSH.
a wraith beneath the tides was one of my favorite books last year so the bar was high for book two but oh my god did Emilia deliver.
Esmyra’s RAGE in A Flame Among the Seas is so loud that it leaps off the page. I felt like I needed to shake a torch in the sky and scream with her. It was so incredibly well done AND she was still smart about it. It can be so frustrating when MCs are so blinded by rage that they do dumb shit but Esmyra was so genuinely smart that it was refreshing. Were there still moments of confusion? Of course but girlfriend didn’t just blindly trust which was AMAZING.
The entire book was so immersive that I truly felt like I was watching a movie and I cannot believe I’m never going to read this book for the first time again. Thank you so much to Emilia for the eARC!!
i missed these characters so much, so you bet i was beyond excited when i received an arc of a flame among the seas - and yes, i loved it so much that i binged it in two days
give me a pirate fantasy with sirens, mystical creatures and gods interfering with the mortal world and i am instantly sold. this series delivers exactly that and i was hooked from page one all over again
we pick up right where book one left off and i absolutely loved diving deeper into characters like esmyra and draevyn, while also getting reunited with jak and learning more about atlas and the wider world around them. every character felt layered and interesting, and the added povs brought so much more depth to the story. i loved getting inside everyone’s heads and seeing their motivations and emotions unfold
the pacing was so good throughout the entire book - fast, engaging and impossible to put down. there were so many moments that had me genuinely stressed and sitting on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next
the writing was beautiful and so atmospheric. everything felt vivid and cinematic, and of course… we need to talk about draevyn because that man 😮💨 the way he loves esmyra is genuinely so beautiful and unwavering that i don’t think anything could ever break the bond between them
and then came that ending… the final chapters completely shocked me. i was stressed, emotional and staring at my kindle in disbelief when i realised the book was over because i desperately need more immediate
This was one of my highly anticipated sequels this year and it.DID.NOT.DISAPPOINT.
It picks up where it left off and we get a few chapters with two more important character POVs included. I like these included POVs because it gives us a small glimpse at another angle and they're not used as filler to extend the page count. Esmyra's character arc is so beautifully crafted. It's raw and realistic. The scenes grab you and hold you. The last 20% of the book I really had to keep myself from skipping scenes because I was on the edge of my seat and had to know how things could [potentially] resolve.
There's plenty of action, great heart to heart moments, and scenes that we were waiting for from the last book. There are some plot points that perhaps many might see as not being surprising. It's kind of how we get there that might be different from expectation. The pacing is done well, and it allows the time needed for events to happen naturally and not too early or too late, so there's no rushed feeling. The ending is either going to be a surprise to you or not.
I am 100% reading the next one, because yes there is a cliffy - and I'm buying the hardcover edition as well and sharing with my reading group.
5☆ my jaw is dropped. that ending was actually so good, but wdym it just ends like that???????
this sequel picks up right where it left off in book one and i was hooked the entire time. i loved seeing more from the main characters—their dark sides, their emotional sides, and their romantic sides. as well as more from the side characters, especially jak and atlas.
i know for a fact we’re going to get some really amazing emotional scenes from draevyn in book 3 and i cannot wait for that. from what we got in this book, i was nearly a sobbing mess. love me a tortured man.
the plot was constantly moving and it made it extremely enjoyable the entire time. i stayed up until 2am reading because i just couldn’t put it down. emilia has extremely addictive writing.
but i can’t believe this book ended LIKE THAT. i saw “end of book two” and i couldn’t believe my eyes. emilia, you better send me book 3 asap.
thank you to emilia and her team for sending me an early copy of this book 🤎
This was such an anticipated release for me and I received an arc!! I’m pretty sure I read this in 4 hours as soon as I received it!
In the first book Atlas and Draes relationship was so sweet and I was so heart broken that they were on opposite sides this book. Atlas pissed me off but he redeemed himself.
Draevyn. Oh. My. God. The fact that they weren’t on speaking terms, she wanted to “kill him” and he helped her escape while betraying his kingdom. Yep that’s enough for me but let’s not forget his wings of fire that he had when he crashed tf out. In fact in book 3 I need him to crash out more.
I kinda expected the ending to go like that but at the same time I wasn’t?? Now i have till wait till next year??
This is how you do a sequel! I read this in less 24 hours from the time the ARC hit my inbox! Esmyra proves why she is a top tier bad ass FMC, Draevyn had me kicking my feet constantly, and all the side characters brought even more emotional depth to an already deep story. The emotional damage, the betrayals, the found family, everything was just chef’s kiss and I cannot wait for book 3!
I received an ARC from the author as a gift and wanted to thank her for the opportunity to read this book before its publication. All of my thoughts, opinions, and reactions are my own.
I lost track of how many times I had crashed out on each chapter, character, and scene throughout the entire book. The tension and high stakes between Esmyra and Draevyn had me on the edge of my bed after each chapter. The groveling that Draevyn did to get his girl back, I was basically screaming at my Kindle to get her cause she kept slipping away. The internal conflicts they were having with their siblings, except Esmyra, because Syrena was manipulating and lying to her the entire time. Atlas was too blinded by his rage and stupidity that I just wanted to throttle him for it. Atlas did, in fact, piss me off a lot. I wanted to THROTTLE and YEET his ass multiple times. Would I die in doing so? Yes. But honestly, though Emilia really did deliver in this book, and I have never been so gagged in less than 24 hours.
Honestly, Draevyn in this book, I can safely say that this was the most feral and downbad he is for his girl, Esmyra. The way he groveled, begged, and wanted to tell the truth because he was so madly in love with her from the very beginning. There were so many suspicious characters that I was literally close to pulling my hair out of my scalp. Syrena, I wanted to fight her so badly, especially Naesyra cause holy shit, I was definitely raging because of her. There are a lot of theories that I have come up with because some of the chapters I'm just like, ohhhh interesting, could it mean something else too, so I'm just side-eyeing things and noting them for later on for the next book.
I must say, though, the arcs for street team members came out last Friday, and what did I do, exactly? Read the book after work for 6 hours straight with zero breaks. I was also reading during my DND campaign cause I rolled really low, so my turn was last LMAO. Literally, I kid you not, I read from 4 pm, when I got off work, and didn't finish the arc until 10 pm that same night. Am I crazy for doing that? Nope, and I have zero regrets whatsoever. Did I get some emotional trauma and damage...you bet I did, and I signed up to get hurt cause I LIKE BOOKS HURTING MY EMOTIONS!
Overall, I give this book a 100000000/10 because the story is so well written that I will never stop talking about these books till I am six feet under. These books mean the world to me, and I absolutely love and adore the characters and plot. I highly recommend this book, A LOT. A Flame Among The Seas has been one of my most anticipated reads of 2026, and it delivered on everything on my list. I honestly cannot wait for the next and final book of the series, and I will say that I am marked unsafe after finishing because of how the book had ended me. I'm excited for what's to come, but also scared LOL.
A Flame Among the Seas took my life by storm. Crumpled it, threw it off a cliff, picked it up and kissed it, and then set it on fire.
This was such a good sequel to book one. I loved being back with my babies, Emsyra and Drae.
It’s fast paced and full of betrayals and twists, but it’s also full of heartache, growth, and healing. It was a full send journey and Emilia did not hold back.
The love I have for every single character in this series is unmatched (except for the three, you know who you are). I want to wrap them up and stuff them in my pocket to keep them all safe and out of harm’s way.
Getting to know Kaelypso and watching the bond between her and Esmyra grow just felt so special and healing.
The banter between her and Drae is top notch and literally had me smiling to myself when I was reading. I love how fiery she is, especially when it comes to him. The way Drae fully supports and cherishes Esmyra just has me swooning. He’s officially my favorite MMC and I just can’t wait to read more of them.
The ending of this might actually send me into psychosis because WHAT DO YOU MEAN??? The tears I shed 😭 if you need me, I’ll be staring at the wall patiently waiting for book three.
These books and their characters have such a special place in my heart. If you love emotionally damaging romantasy with feminine rage, found family, and an MMC who worships the FMC, this series is for you.
Thank you Emilia for letting me be a part of your team and read this before release ❤️
This is a book I didn’t know I needed but now don’t know where to go after finishing it.
This is book two in the trilogy and stars where book one ended and let me start by saying I was soo ready and vying for this villain era!! I loved the pirates aspect with magic intertwined, found family and immeasurable loyalty to the crew. Esmyra has been lied to, used and manipulated for centuries and my heart broke so many times for her and for everything she endured. I loved how unapologetically fierce she was when it came to her vengeance and her swagger is just amazing. There was a lot of character development with our FMC, she has to learn and adapt so much after recent revelations but also learning to expand her love and trust past that of her crew. Draevyn had my heart from the start. As a MMC he is fierce protective and oh so loyal that he’s willing to turn his back on everyone to save her. He’s had trauma of his own to overcome but remained steadfast in his love and loyalty to his siren.
The plot was action packed filled with a tension that had my heart in my stomach. There were so many aspects to the story that added to the constant angst and you feel such a sense of desperation for the MC’s because you truly don’t know how it’s going to go. I despise the true villain in all of this when something as petty as jealousy has driven them to such extremes for so long. And with that ending I am not okay and have a clawing desperation to find out what happens next.
Another incredible story that leaves me shattered. Esmrya entered her villain era, leaving no stone unturned to exact her revenge. Quickly, the story unfolds into utter chaos as those around her also have a plan and goal in mind. As Esmyra learns to trust herself and Kaelypso, those surrounding her will be guiding lights along her journey. Draevyn is quite possibly the most love sick, down bad, tear the world apart MMC I've read in awhile. I am here for it. His power grows and unravels before our eyes. We welcome back beloved side characters and expand with new members to add to our found family.
Emilia broke my heart in the best way. I was incredibly excited to receive this early because I have been desperate for more since I finished book one. However, now I find myself shattered into millions of pieces. I adore these characters and their growth being displayed on the page.
Emilia extended the arcs and developed the characters in a way that felt organic. They are a cast of deeply traumatized human beings. As a reader, I felt it in my soul. I encourage you to pick this up if you enjoy mermaids/sirens, pirates, kingdoms at war, and gods. The magic is powerful and explosive. The revenge era is STRONG and everyone is morally charcoal grey at one point or another. I think I'll be impatiently waiting for the conclusion next year of this gut wrenching, powerhouse series. Thank you Emilia from the bottom of my broken soul for this advanced copy.
🧜🏻 A Fame Among the Seas by Emilia Jae Book Review 🧜🏻
⭐️FMC in her Villain Era ⭐️Touch her and Die ⭐️Fire Powers ⭐️Gods and Monsters ⭐️Sirens and Piartes
My final rating is 4⭐️ It takes a 2🌶 rating for me (explicit scenes but not many)
First of all I want to give my thanks to the author for the opportunity to read and review an ARC of this highly anticipated book.
Nothing I love more than a FMC entering her villain era. No, that is not true, I like it even more when the MMC cannot help but be proud of her even as she is trying to kill him!
Esmyras and Draevyns relationship in this book was soooo good, there was betrayal and heartache and yearning to give and spare!
I could also apreciate Atlas and Elowynne even if their actions grated on my nerves when they hurt Esmyra. It was really nice seeing her as the villain from an outside perspective.
The book is full of action and the final battle kept me in the edge of my seat. I could not have predicted the ending, I was so sure everything was about to be sorted out. Of course, I forgot this was a trilogy, so we have a terrible terrible ending that I don’t know how I will survive until I have the third book, A God Beyond the Dephts.
Emotional intensity, romance tension, and world building. A Flame Among the Seas by Emilia Jae is a lush, emotionally charged fantasy filled with betrayal, ancient secrets, and a romance caught between vengeance and destiny.
Esmyra’s journey continues as she navigates the aftermath of heartbreak and truth-shattering revelations, while the world around her becomes increasingly unstable with rising gods, hidden enemies, and shifting loyalties.
What makes this sequel so compelling is the emotional conflict at its core—especially Esmyra’s struggle between hatred and the undeniable pull she still feels toward Draevyn.
This book explores:
* enemies-to-lovers tension * betrayal and emotional fallout * gods, magic, and ancient prophecy * found family and crew dynamics * revenge vs forgiveness * fate vs free will
The romance is intense and conflicted, layered with mistrust, history, and unresolved emotion that keeps the tension high throughout. At the same time, the expanding mythology raises the stakes far beyond personal conflict.
It’s a story where emotions and power collide—and every choice feels like it could change everything.
Thank you to Emilia Jae for the opportunity to ARC read for this book. 4.5⭐️ Wow! I’m seriously still sitting here, staring at the wall, after that ending! First of all, I just have to say that while the first book was good, this one is even better! I felt A Wraith Beneath the Tides was well written and interesting, though I struggled slightly to connect with the MCs, which is pretty important to me in a book. That was NOT the case with Flame! Not only was the plot seriously moving, but I really felt all the emotions portrayed throughout the entire book and connected to several of the characters, but especially the MCs. And there were MANY emotions, let me tell you! Draevyn and Esmyra are perfect for each other, even if it takes a bit to get there. Draevyn is a new fav MMC for me due to his choices and devotion and he has some awesome lines in this book! Esmyra goes through such a journey to discover what is truly important to her and who she truly is/wants to be. I wholeheartedly recommend this book/series!
A kingdom risen. A goddess reborn. A world burning red.
A Flame Among the Seas is an emotionally filled / feminine rage pirate romantasy book. Filled with betrayal, ancient secrets and romance caught between vengeance and destiny. 🌊⚔️💫
The pacing was perfect and kept me engaged, (No second book syndrome here!) and the added POVs really added to the story. The writing was beautiful and very cinematic. The battles were action packed and ruthless. I was extremely entertained the entire time and am so excited to see how Emilia wraps this story up in the third and final book. 2027 can’t come soon enough!
Read if you love: 🧜♀️Siren FMC & Fire wielding MMC 🏴☠️ Pirate romantasy 🔥Touch her and burn ☠️Revenge and feminine rage 💫Star crossed lovers ⚔️Secrets and betrayal 🌊Sunken Kingdom 🦑Sea monsters & epic battles
Thank you so much to the author and publisher for the opportunity to get an early E-copy in exchange for a honest review! 🤍
OMG, this was such an amazing ARC!!! I just couldn’t stop once I started reading! After the giant cliffhanger at the end of the first book, I desperately needed this book and it truly provided everything!
All of the highs and lows through the entire book were just amazing! It truly gave me everything I needed out of this sequel and once again, left us on a huge cliffhanger! I just loved learning more about the way the characters thought and all of their motivations, especially Syrena, were fascinating! I love it when I can understand why the villain wants what they want.
Our characters were once again amazing and the romance was just hitting! Draevyn and Esmyra are absolutely perfect together!!! I truly cannot emphasize enough how much I love them together and the sacrifices they continue to make for each other!
Truly no complaints! Everyone should read this series!
The plot is fast paced and I never wanted to put it down. I needed to know what came next and who was going to betray who.
Emilia continues to write villain's POVs so well. I hated and loved every minute of her chapters.
Esmyra is definitely in her revenge era in this one and honestly, girl deserves every minute of it. Her heartbreak and grief are evident on the page as she comes to terms with who she is and who she can trust.
Drae is quickly moving up on my list of book boyfriends. That man is the definition of devotion. The yearning is so intense as he fights his way back to her and then continues to support her choices and her goals.
And you know who continues to do no wrong? Jak. We love a ride or die bestie
That ending has me panicking but I am still so excited to see where the story goes from here.
I love this series so much, thank you emilia jae for the ARC copy im so glad I got to read this early im obsessed! To start off with im GOBSMACKED! After that ending like what the hell i need the next book asap, the wait for book 3 in 2027 is going to kill me. I love esmyra and draevyn so much, draevyn is so down bad for esmyra i just love the yearning. This was so fast-paced I read it in one sitting i couldn't put it down, it was action packed all the way through, a little repetitive but not enough so that it will bore you. It picked up right where we left off in book 1 and it had a great character development for our fmc esmyra and the relationship between the main characters developed well too, ill be recommending this series to everyone.
“A phoenix is nothing without his flames. And you, Esmyra, are mine.”
First, let me say that I love that this book picked up right where book 1 left us hanging. There was no lull or pause, we immediately get to the action and mayhem. Second, this book made me feel all of the emotions…literally ALL of them! From anger and frustration, to excitement and fist pumping, to shock and jaw dropping silence. So much happens in this book for Draevyn and Esmyra individually but also together. What I loved most though? The character growth we see in Esmyra. It was literally transformative, and I love every second of it! And let’s talk about our fire daddy, Draevyn. This man…this man is down bad for Esmyra and it is undeniable that he belongs to her. I love this book, but that ending though…whew it was a doozy.
I was so pissed at Esmyra in this book. Girl you have been alive for 900 years and have the emotional intelligence and of a fucking teenager. 🤦♀️👀👀👀
Outside of Esmi growing the fuck up (which was much needed and clearly a huge portion of the book) everyone else was spot on!
And yes despite my anger over her immaturity- and because of it- this book is still 5 stars because if a book is moving you through emotion it’s doing the damn thing!
Also can’t wait for the hardback to come out because book 1 was gorgeous and I know this will also be amazing.
I’ll be sitting on the edge of my seat until book three!
So happy to have received an earc for this!! It automatically started off strong for me because this book includes a recap of book 1 before the prologue. I always appreciate when authors do that🙏🏼 in addition to that- this book blew me away. I loved book one, but book two is now my new favorite. I love Esmyra as a FMC and the changes we see her go through in this book (aka entering her Villain Era and continuing to be the bad ass she is) and don’t even get me started on Draevyn… I was obsessed!! And the tension between him and Esmyra was perfection. Be prepared for the biggest cliffhanger….. I still can’t get over the ending! Book 3 can’t come soon enough!!
Love that Emilia gave us a summary of AWBTT, that was so helpful. It’s a great feature, especially if you are unable to go back and re-read before delving into AFATS.
“You’re trapped in a room full of trained men.” “No, you’re trapped in a room with me.”
YES. Loving that predatory feminine energy! Also I’m frothing at the mouth at Esmi and Drae’s first encounter after AWBTT the tides - it was so delectably tense!
This sequel has reunions, betrayal, secrets uncovered and witty one liners.
AND. THAT. CLIFFHANGER.
My god, how can I wait until 2027 for the final installment???
This was one of my most anticipated books this year and it did not disappoint!
Esmyra really enters her villain era coming for revenge, but honestly, Drae and Atlas sort of enter villain eras too. You get more world building and visiting different kingdoms. Seeing some new and old characters...so much happening and a few new tidbits of information that left me with more questions!
This book had me screaming in excitement, screaming in anger, screaming in shock...basically just constantly screaming. If you loved the first book, this second will get you good.
And of course, Em is the queen of cliffhangers and my heart HURTS and I need the next one now please and thank you.
Read if you love: -Pirates x Atlantis -Siren FMC -MMC with fire powers -Multi POV -Star-crossed lovers -Soul bonds -Villain era (for everyone) -Feminine rage & revenge
Thank you to the author for the eARC. My thoughts are entirely my own. Finish date: 5/10/26, Release date: 6/11/26
First of all, thanks Em for an early copy of this! These are my thoughts.
I love these characters, okay? Esmyra is in her vengeance era and I'm here for it. And nothing could make me hate Draevyn fucking Rowe. That being said. I feel like this could have been shorter. There was a lot of repetition that would constantly take me out of the story. I still really enjoyed the story and I'm interested to see where they go from here. But I am so glad its over.
One of most anticipated reads & it did not disappoint. I was lucky enough to get onto the ARC team for this one so thanks to Emilia & her team!!!
This book was action packed from start to finish. I couldn’t be more obsessed😭 and BOOK 3????!!!! I can’t believe we are getting more from this world!!!!
I was able to be an ARC reader for this book. All opinions are my own..
Holy cow, what a ride! This was such a fun time. There was action at every turn and we got some great character development. I could not put this book down and found my thoughts wandering to it throughout the day. I absolutely cannot wait for the final installment! This series is fantastic!
To be honest, 50 pages to the end of the book and I seriously thought this will end as a duology... But no! I'm looking forward to see where the third one will take us 🥰 Loved it, as the first one. Read it all in one day! 5/5!
I really enjoyed the book. It was really good. So much action and the world building is still gorgeous just like book 1. I can’t wait for book 3. The ending was crazy and it feels like being hit by a tsunami wave. Be prepared to read this book👀👀😳.
