DNF after chapter 1

Giselle and Sinclair haven't even cheated yet, because it's only one chapter, but I cannot stand these characters. I just want to smash both their heads with a baseball bat. I could pull through and read this book, but my rating would still be the same.

P.S. Giana Darling really wants me believe that the cheating is justified, bc Elena is some mean ass bitch, but let me tell you one thing. Giselle, sweetie, you just don't have what it takes to be Elena. 😌

being gaslit into rooting for a heroine who knowingly has an affair with her older sister’s fiancé (the sister who’s been through a fuck tonne of shit for her family, no less) is not my idea of a good time.

When Heroes Fall is about said sister, Elena... id read that if Elena beats this bitch up🤺

This is the story of Sinclair and Giselle.
They met on a plane when they both go one week to Mexico.
Since I've read in the wrong order, I read first When Heroes Fall (Anti-Heroes in Love, #1) by Giana Darling and When Villains Rise (Anti-Heroes in Love, #2) by Giana Darling , this should be read last, but I was curious about Elena and Dante in Meet Me Under the Mistletoe by M. Robinson , a Midnight Dynasty Anthology "Baby, It’s Cold Outside" where we were introduced to Tiernan Morelli.
I've loved them and Elena's family, that I had to read about the Lombardi's siblings (I'm hoping and waiting for Sebastian's story), so I've read Cosima and Alexander story Enthralled (The Enslaved Duet #1) by Giana Darling and Enamoured (The Enslaved Duet #2) by Giana Darling , that should be the first to be read.
So, this story is kinda predictable for me, since I've already know who Sinclair and Giselle are.
Though I've loved this two together, they have an undeniable chemistry, can't really enjoy them because I've already known Elena and what she has been through.
description
description
What I didn't like, insta love, Giselle is in love with Sinclair with only one week together.
Sinclair tries to fight the attraction, but don't fight that hard.
Giselle feels bad, but she doesn't fight it either.
Since I know the story, this two belong together, but the cheating part, well I have to admit this is a no-go for me.
description
Giselle is an artist, and she's left Paris to live with her family in New York.
So they can't be only strangers that met in Mexico and have a holiday affair without consequences.
Everyone's notice that they felt in love with each other.
Giselle uses her father last name, Moore, and her siblings uses Lombardi.
She lived in Paris, Elena in Italy, so the little information they have changed, aren't enough to connect the dots.
description
This one is very superficial, we see that will be a lot more, but this only touches the surface.
Sinclair admits he's on BDSM and promise Giselle some of that emotions but then, time passes and there's no significant scenes.
description
description
description
Hoping for the second to be better.
This ends with a cliffhanger.

This book is the first book I'm ever giving 0.00 review
You do not cheat on other people's girlfriends and boyfriends least of all your own sister no matter how evil she is.

People who cheat would always keep on cheating

They're should be a limit to what's forbidden ,stop Romantizing cheating and trying to make it acceptable!!

Lastly those who cheat always keep on cheating so don't expect said cheater won't cheat on you with another

Lastly a famous quote from Carter from the untouchable once said
"Those who cheat are weak, pathetic, spineless fools who are afraid"

Yeah yeah because there is nothing more romantic than knowing that you are having your sister's sloppy seconds. 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮 This author simply lost the notion of ridicule. Would that be a good idea for her to write if she had a sister who was having an affair with her husband? Here in my country we have a saying: Pepper in the others' ass is refreshment. I believe it's the perfect case here.😒

I don’t like cheaters but I’ll admit I was curious and these books are on KU so I’m not exactly wasting my money.

At this point I’m already halfway through book 2 because I want to know how this will end because everything is just too ridiculous to be taken seriously anymore.

At some point in the first book Sinclair says “I am your god” to Giselle and by the end he tells her to say “it” (It = I love you!) and I just couldn’t help but laugh.

We’re talking about a six day holiday affair where neither Sinclair nor Giselle know anything about each other except how their bodily fluids taste and smell. Gimme a break.

Before you even think about picking this book, please know that the entire plot revolves around cheating. Giselle meets Sinclair on a plane ride to Mexico and Sinclair is instantly captivated by Giselle and has to have her. He proposes an affair and is completely upfront that he is in a relationship. Giselle has never done anything like that before and is pretty innocent when it comes to physical things. But Sinclair makes her feel like no one ever has before, and before she knows it, she is having an affair with Sinclair. I really loved the angst in this book and how hard and fast the two characters fell for each other. They both knew how wrong it was, but they just could not resist spending time together when real life didn't matter. I do wish that the ending left a little bit of intrigue or something to want us to read book two. Instead, it just sort of ended and didn't give us really anything that made me dying to know what was going to happen next. But I do know about this series from friends and definitely want to read the next book to see what happens next when Giselle and Sinclair have to face the real world about their relationship.

3.5 Holiday Affair stars
“One week with a perfect stranger, no complications, no surprises. Just....this."

One week. Lust and Passion. For Elle it was a week of sexuality awakening, seeing how far her boundaries are with the sexy unattainable Frenchman He managed to lure her in with is wicked charm and there is not a soul around who would deny the passion that they share. He is hot and cold, and Elle knows it'll end in a world of hurt, but nothing can stop her from making the memories with him to keep her company after their week is out. Fate has a twisted sense of humor and the game she has prepared for these two are a setup for heartache.

The Affair is the first in The Evolution of Sin series, and boy did my emotions evolve. I think it is fair to say that this is a story of an affair, BUT the way it is told and the way the week is lived makes you question the whys of the relationship we rather not mention. HOT and Heavy, the tension and sex keep you glued to the pages, but the feeling of being sad never really leaves. I am a romantic at heart, so this was a struggle, I wanted a happily ever after so bad but I knew in the back of my mind it was highly unlikely. To add to my wishful thinking was thinking this was a standalone, that maybe the rest of the series would focus on other characters, but sadly that is not the case.

The beginning was their end and as much as I want to go on and keep on rooting for them, I don't think my little romantic heart can go on. Yes I took a sneak peak at the second book and I can tell that is a level of angst I don't think I am prepared to face. Proceed with caution, recommended to my angst loving friends.

i cant fanthom how a woman willingly enters a 'fling' with a man, a COMMITTED man, who will literally treat her like shit like where the fuck is ur self respect?? fine u did it, but how can u continue when the man wont even fight for u. and out of all fucking things, how can u live with yourself knowing you've ruined someone elses love life. that u've snatched away one of their most important aspects.

and what disgusts me the most? that the bitch didnt leave even after the guy was HER SISTERS fiancee. what the fuck is wrong with you?? yes ur in love but does familial love and loyalty mean jack shit??? ur sister!!! the sister that fucking practically raised you. how can you continue with such betrayal? its obvious who she chose judging by elenas book and honestly i want to smack the bitchs head in with a baseball bat. the fucking audacity of her acting like a 'victim of love' oh sod off u self centered homewrecker. i dont even like the rest of her family just cuz of the fact they didnt shun giselle, the fact that they treated the real victim elena as a bitch just pissed me to full degrees. and most of all im so tired of the heroine being so 'sheltered' and 'meek' that shed act so disgracefully.

let me not even get started with the hero. fucking spineless coward, literally should be burned in a ditch ugly cheating scum. i dont understand whats so charismatic about a unfaithful bastard

anyways yall go read elenas book fallen heros cuz that shit is way better

These two are pure scum. Especially the heroine. I hope her sister never forgives her, it made me angry and it’s not even real.
It’s mind-blowing how Elena is considered the villain.
The other siblings are also disgusting for just accepting this and telling elena she needs to get over it. The fuck ?

Anyway I just skimmed it so I can read elena’s story. It’s nauseating

I enjoyed this one-week no string attached love affair of Sinclair and Elle. It's a forbidden romance with an angsty moment and the scorching scene that will leave you breathless. It's an engaging story from start to finished.

Giana Darling is a new author to me and she didn't disappoint because I want to know what will happen next, it's a real page-turner. I can't wait to continue this series! I greatly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys this kind of theme.

The h and H just don't have any conflict about their cheating.

Absolute trash - the weakest heroine I've ever seen and hero too. The self-absorption on both of their parts is unreal.

Wish i never read it b/c everytime I think about this I get super pissed that people like the MCs exist.

Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope. I love GD and I LOVE the Fallen Men series but this was just a big fat NO. Glorifying cheating now, are we? And that too, cheating with your older sister's fiancé? Fucking hell, that shit is NOT a romance...it's a straight up betrayal and fucked up on so many levels. I mean please, we've got enough men that make us women miserable irl, so can we please fucking not bring that into books as well?!?! Also I just realised that Giselle is a fucking two faced bitch who also happens to be Elena's sister. I absolutely loved Elena in the Anti Heroes in Love duet and my heart broke for her then and even now. You could say that I DNFed this book the moment I found out that it was about Giselle. Elena should really channel her inner Maddy Perez and beat that cunt up - I'd pay to see that shit lmaoooooo. Again, no hate to Giana, but I just didn't expect this from her...kinda disappointed and triggered since the cheating trope happens to be one of my worst triggers🥴 (I went in blind with this book btw so I didn't even know that it had the cheating trope🥲)

Well, this story left me with mixed feelings.
There is Elle portrayed as an innocent and inexperienced girl, meeting Sinclair on her flight to Mexico. Sinclair proposes an one-week affair with no strings attached. It surprised me that she not only accepted this stranger’s proposal but when she was told that he has a committed relationship, she didn’t withdraw but continued the affair and fell in love with him. The innocent and inexperienced girl...
While reading, I couldn’t decipher their characters or their actions.
There were paragraphs that puzzled me and I was trying to justify them by myself. For example, where did the egg shaped vibrator go? Did she absorb it or something??? Also there were whole phrases that I couldn’t comprehend.

I will (try to) read the next book out of curiosity...

DNF at 42%. I thought I would try this because so many people recommend this author, but this book was not for me. I'm not a fan of cheating in romance books, but I'm especially not a fan when characters think about it they way they do in this book. Get off your high horse, you're not better because the guy that's cheating with you has a long-term girlfriend instead of a wife. And I read some reviews with spoilers in it to see if I should continue... oof. No.

***** 4 Holiday Affair Stars *****

The Affair is a hot forbidden romance full of sexual hunger and angst. I finished this in one day, I couldn't stop reading.

description

Elle is an artist moving from Paris to New York, but before her big move, she takes a little break in Cabo San Lucas. Although she planned on a simple and relaxing vacation, Elle runs into an irresistible man on the plane.

She becomes his siren. Sinclair is all alpha male with demons in his shadow. He's warm and kind one minute, and then cold and reserved. He made a promise, but all promises go out the window because of Elle.

They agree to a steamy holiday affair. They also agree to not share anything personal, but lines get blurred. So much passion gets released in only a few days because the affair has a timer.

This book is so erotic. There isn't that much BDSM involved, but Elle is curious and interested in that lifestyle. I can't wait to see what happens in book 2.

Self note Spoilers for all 3 books.
Avoiding.

This trilogy is all about cheating.
He cheats with the h, and then cheats on the h with his GF of 4 years, who is the h’s own sister.

In book 1, MCs are on vacation and meet on the plane.
H told her he was in a serious, committed relationship, but the h went on with the affair anyway. Actually, when she finds out about the gf from his friends first, she basically didn’t give a shit about the gf.
“It would drive me crazy to render a picture of the unknown girlfriend and I resolved not to consider her any longer.”
- Her sister called the H while the h was in the room and he called the sis darling.

Then she finds out that H is actually her sisters BF at the end of this book, and continues the affair in book 2-3.
Yup, this 2 faced bitch knowingly fucks him behind her sisters bak.

h is a stunning 24yr old virgin🙄🙄🙄🙄, at this time and age, totally not contrived at all 🙄🙄🙄, who only had 1 bf her entire life. 🙄🙄🙄And this bf kissed her once.😂
Author tries to make her seem innocent, but h is your basic narcissist.

H is no better. As soon as he got home after the sexfest with the h, he slept with the GF the first night back. This after he finds out that h is his gfs sister.

When h finds out that he had slept with her sister, she continued to fuck him.🙄
- H shares the h with another man in some bondage crap later in the series.

Cheating is bad enough, doing it with your own sisters man is another level of evil.

I started reading this book in August last year. I didn't like it, but I kept returning to it, hoping it would get better because I wanted to read this trilogy in order to read both duets that follows. (The one that's out, and the new one that will be released soon)
I'm giving up on this book and the series, and I don't think I'll be missing much, there are so many better books and authors out there to read

Giselle and Sinclair are both vile human beings who deserve the worst. To do that to the sister who always protected you is disgusting asf. And why couldn't Sinclair just break up w her if she's such a bitch?! Apparently in the next book Giselle doesn't let the fact that it's her sister's fiance get in the way of her selfishness to have Sinclair. No thank you. Elena is so out of both of their leagues it's actually funny. In her story, it's so clear how much she's still suffering from this betrayal while the cheaters have a freaking baby.

And they still have the audacity to invite her in their home for lunch? Despicable behavior.

Where has Giana Darling been my entire life?! The Affair caught me by surprise, without doubt—a story that is more than “just an affair”, but instead a naive, sweet woman’s transformation from awkward to self-assured; timid to sexually liberated.

With promises of forbidden affairs and uncontrollable lust, The Affair will confound and conflict even the most open-minded readers. It isn’t gentle in nature, or apologetic in deliverance; it is emotionally crude and heart-wrenching, a train wreck of dread and inevitable anguish.

“No mortal man should hold a siren in his arms, but you've given me the opportunity of a life time.”

Giselle Moore is such a sweet woman. Shy and timid, a little unsure of herself, but there’s this undeniable independence and inexplicable boldness underneath waiting to be unleashed, to blossom into something magnificent. Sinclair couldn’t be anymore different—brooding yet charming; confident and dominant yet enigmatic. I both love and hate this infuriating, mysterious Frenchman and, much like Giselle, cannot stop myself from gravitating towards his commanding persona.

He was a paradox, my Frenchman, hot and cold, stern but poetic, mine but not mine.

I don’t condone cheating. I can’t begrudge the characters though, because no matter how thoughtless or inconsiderate their actions, Giselle doesn’t owe anyone anything. And realistically, no one can judge a situation they don’t fully understand. Neither character revels in their decision, but laments over real life’s unfortunate circumstances.

The Affair isn’t about infidelity, or who’s right or wrong. Giana Darling doesn’t make excuses or glorify the characters’ actions. The Affair reminds us that sometimes love—either opportune or cruelly ill-timed—is unconventional and at the base level it is always raw, oftentimes brutally, emotionally agonising and almost always unexpected.

“Let me pretend that I’m allowed to love you, that I’m yours. That tomorrow instead of getting on a plane alone, I’ll go back to a life that we share.”

Rife with angst and tension, The Affair will pull you towards its centre of heartache. Dripping in lurid and sordid detail, Giselle and Sinclair’s connection is taboo and forbidden; yet the chemistry they have is intense, titillating and difficult to stay away from. Emotions will soar—from pain, guilt and anguish—while reading this. I know my heart is feeling bruised and battered along with Giselle’s.

This is a fast read. It’s also the first of three so it could’ve easily been longer. I picked this up at the recommendation of an author on FB and didn’t even looked at the blurb. I’m definitely intrigued enough to keep reading but this was just meh. This book also needs an editor badly, there’s way too many mistakes and weird dialogue. Also the author kinda confuses Italian with Spanish at some point. The characters are also a little underdeveloped and I still don’t understand their connection but I’m taking it st face value. I’m pretty sure of some of the twists to come, the hints were not subtle. I just hope it gets better as it continues.

The Affair was a great quick read for a first book in a trilogy. I especially enjoyed Giselle’s sexual evolution. She became more brazen and comfortable with her newfound sexuality. She reveled in it. Sinclair was a sexy mystery. I liked his use of control over Giselle. It was highly erotic and their scenes together deliciously written. Although his hot and cold behavior got a little repetitive. The story overall was fairly predictable but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

"A meteor in a universe of floating stars as bright and beautiful as diamonds..."

This a heart-achingly beautiful and erotic story about... well, as the title suggests, an affair... a lush dreamlike fantasy narrated to us by the heroine, the beautiful Elle.
I was personally captivated by the description of the location, an enchanting tropical paradise, and even more so by the description of the hero, Sinclair. He is a stunning, sculpted phyisqued man with bronze colored skin, auburn hair, a little long in the back, and intense expression-filled cerulean eyes. He is blessed with a blinding smile that will occasionally bloom as he is, for the most part, in control of all he surveys. Sinclair is the perfect irresistible Dominating Alpha-male.

This author knows how to write romance. Period. Full stop. Her erotic passages are breath-takingly and emotionally moving. I found myself thinking about these characters while I was away from the book. I need to read on and those whose hearts beat to the drumbeat of a passionate love story will feel the same.

I have two minor issues that I take with the book. Obviously the positives of what I experienced through the read far outweigh these two complaints. The first is a stylistic issue with the narrative that I think the writer's editor should have caught. That is... too much mention of character's "eyebrows" or "brows". It was as if the writer defaulted to describing the position and movement of the "eyebrows" to express the more mundane emotions and character interactions.

The second issue comes from my personal soft heart for all living creatures. When I personally was in Mexico and some friends described a marlin they had on the hook, they related that this marlin's mate swam alongside the one being reeled in with the fishing line and rod. This tale cleaved my heart in two and forever left a bad taste in my mouth about "sport fishing". The description of how the marlin met its demise in this book is not something I ever want to read in a romance. This is completely from my personal sensibilities.

Even though your heart fairly aches from the eloquence in the narrative describing the intense bittersweet flavor of a brief, passionate intense romance, there is one gorgeous shining moment that restored the five star-rating back to this book and that is in this insight from Elle, our love-afflicted heroine:

"My boldness left me shaky but strangely confident. I could feel my old dull and sensible skin slide away completely, leaving me raw and new and shiny. Even if he rebuffed me, told me to leave right now and never see him again, I would have this – the new me – and that would be enough."

Even with a bruised heart, if you really have yourself, you have everything you need to soldier on forward in life.

Now the question remains... Does this "holiday affair" indeed, end and are these two hearts still whole in the aftermath?

I was really excited to start this trilogy. I love a hot sexy rich man and Sinclair was certainly that, however we did not get to learn much about him, which makes it hard to connect. Ok, it is a week long affair so not much talking and we were entertained with the way they passed the time. Elle asks Sinclair : “Will you tell me your name ?. Yes, Elle, but I’ll warn you now, you won’t get much else.”
(Well, I was warned!).
I am not opposed to someone having an affair if the person they are cheating on is not involved in the story, or they are on their death bed or are just a horrible person, but this ending is a little unsettling for me.
I had to think long and hard if I wanted to read the next book, but my curiosity got the better of me, so i will continue just because I need some answers and am looking for that real connection that we have been tempted with.
