You can’t always go home again, but what if you have no choice?
A fun bus trip to Ottawa with her best friend is supposed to get Sam’s mind off her ex- and his manipulative ways. However, just as her life makes a sudden sharp turn, Sam’s desperate ex-husband crashes into her new reality. Demanding half of her lottery win, Mike isn’t looking for justice – just cold, hard cash and an easy ride.
When court convenes in her hometown, the law is placed in a strangle-hold while Sam fights to do what’s right. Even though her old friends and a smart legal team support her, the shock of her life awaits inside a packed courtroom.
Can one little old lady survive the legal meat grinder, or is she destined to be chewed up and spat out? One thing is for sure, if a food fight is on the menu, Sam’s bringing dessert.

This book is a satisfying read on several levels : I loved hearing more about Sam's adventures, it is a charming tale of resilience and fortitude, and it is a satisfying end to the series. Although it might be described as "humorous light reading", the book manages to deal with serious issues of morality and ethics, coming to terms with the sudden and extreme changes that life can throw at us, and the nuts&bolts of being part of a serious court case. All in all, a charming and delightful read.
