Absolutely delightful, as always!! As an introvert and artist, I've always felt a bit of a kinship with Sophie. But I have to wonder when Iggy and Ora Zella will be introduced in the print format of the comic. Perhaps the next book?
But OMC... .... LOL!! That's too good. Too good. And I love Sophie even more now!
p.s. YES, baby Yoda is cute, I guess. But to me he just looks like a hairless variety of a Mogwai. Much like a Sphynx is a hairless variety of a Cat.
p.p.s. I named one of my cats Gizmo, because when he was an itty bitty kitten he looked a lot like Gizmo (from the movie): Brown & white & fluffy with ears and eyes far too large for the rest of his body. He grew into his ears, but he's still got those enormous Studio Ghibli/Disney Princess eyes.

It's Showtime, Sophie was another amazing Breaking Cat News collection that introduces a wrestling event.
Breaking Cat News reporters Elvis, Lupin, and Puck are back with another collection of comics focusing on the news at the big pink house. This time around, the cats are having a slumber party with Tommy, Sophie, and Beatrix which makes it the perfect time to hold the latest Best Cat Wrestling event: Tusslemania. All of the cats are excited to join in but Sophie doesn't know how to play or make friends leading to her feeling left out. But with the other cats help, Sophie may be able to turn things around.
Breaking Cat News has been my favorite comic strip for over ten years ever since my husband first showed me the author's site back when she originally posted the strips independently. The comics perfectly portray storylines relevant to cats and are incredibly entertaining. The illustrations are fantastic and wonderfully capture the chaos of multiple cats. The cats themselves are quite adorable as are the other animals we've come to know in the side cast.
This volume primarily focuses on the wrestling event as well as Sophie's character. Sophie's character has been an interesting one and this book helps explain a bit more why she is standoffish with the other cats. I liked that they took the time to include her and how Tommy defended her. The wrestling event was quite amusing and I loved that Sophie viewed it as a big theater production. Some of the other storylines include a blizzard (which was fitting as I just had one where I live), Valentine's Day, the boy losing his stuffed penguin, and Goldie trying treats for the first time. The end of the book included some paper dolls of the cats, something included in previous volumes, as well as a how-to on writing a diary.
Overall It's Showtime, Sophie was a great read and I would highly recommend the collections to all cat lovers.

Those intrepid reporter cats from BCN(Breaking Cat News) are back with more stories from around the house and an exciting night of Tusselmania.
Here are a few bits I loved about this latest episode:
🎤The months of January through April are ripe with potential: a plastic Halloween spider discovered under the fridge, prepping for a blizzard and appreciating The Cocoa Index, the mystery of the cat greens the seem to self-replenish, and a stray possum caught in the garage -- just to name a few.
🙀Just when you think you have seen it all, here comes Tusselmania. Each of the cats in the cast has his or her unique costume and nickname: Sophie (the visitor) is The Existential Dread, Tommy becomes Tommy Bee, Puck dons a Pretty Boy Pucky Bear costume, Lupin is Leapin' Lupin, Elvis goes Puffy, Tabitha becomes La Dama Dragon, Figaro dresses up to be El Punto Rojo, Burt is Tripple B (Big Beautiful Burt), Beatrix becomes B.R., and Goldie is Rowdie Goldie Pepper. Remember, Wrestling Is Theater!
🕷While I did enjoy the Tusselmania story line, there was also a noteworthy one about a spider that has been spotted on the ceiling. All the cats in residence are staking it out, chittering at it, afraid to look away until their human comes to rescue them by capturing the intruder.
😻The back matter includes a page of paper dolls for each cat in the cast and some ideas on how to have fun with them.
📒Finally there are some tips on keeping a diary and some writing prompts. Fun, relatable story lines plus extras make for a memorable chapter in the BCN series.

Breaking Cat News is my all time favorite comic strip, and Sophie is my favorite of the female cats. If I were a cat, I would be Sophie. I love how Georgia Dunn has slowly allowed Sophie to evolve from a seemingly aloof but actually very introverted character to a character who has managed to break out of her shyness when she discovered the secret shared by many other introverts. In order to participate in a world full of extroverts, it's necessary to discover that life is all just THEATER!
Anyone who loves cats and loves comics will love Breaking Cat News and "It's Showtime, Sophie." Wrestling fans will love that cats have their own BCW—Best Cat Wrestling. Introverts will identify with Sophie, afraid to leave the safety of her cat carrier while writing in her diary, "Why must I fell so out of place with cats who certainly seem to want my friendship? All the while watching from my lonely window while cats who have been here for 10 minutes make friends with everyone so effortlessly…Oh that I could be so brave." And then they will cheer as Sophie finds he inner Existential Dread!
And of course, all the other characters get a story line or two in the book.
As a bonus, we get more delightful BCN paper dolls with outfits and accessories.

Adventures include fun with a plastic Halloween spider ring, coping with a blizzard, the mystery of the cat grass, the missing Pengo, and the main feature Tusslemania.

The conceit behind these reprinted newspaper comics is that the cats in a suburban household report their cat news to... someone. It's a strange mix of realism and fancy. On the one hand, the cats wear clothes and have microphones, yet they are bewildered by things like Christmas trees and snow. Somehow, Dunn pulls it off, creating calm and cozy adventures that probably appeal to youngsters and adults alike. In times of turmoil in the real world a book like this is a sweet reminder that life can just be normal, or at least as normal as can be with so many cats running around a house. Dunn's art style is loose and cartoony, giving it a cute look, although it's sometimes hard to tell some of the cats apart.

Georgia Dunn has another Breaking Cat News book out. If you aren’t familiar with this amazing female artist (and now single mother of two), check out any of these nine books, and advocate for your local newspaper to run her strip on the comics page. It cheers me up daily! Some of the books have unique stories that haven’t appeared before. This book is just a year of old strips with no apparent new content…but in color! And with paper dolls at the end. So fun to revisit the characters.

Completely delightful from beginning to end. Not only are the stories wonderful, but the More To Explore section includes outlines of the cats (for making paper dolls) with not only their regular clothes, but their costumes from Tusslemania I! as well as a nice kid-friendly explanation of diaries.
These collections of Breaking Cat News adventures are great for all ages.

The continuing comic series about cats reporting on household events as if they were news reporters. It’s still really cute, and perfectly captures cats and their antics. In this one, there is a blizzard, the cats solve the mystery of the cat grass, Tommy & Sophie join for Tusslemania, the cats help find a lost stuffed animal, and there is a spider on the ceiling.

I really like that there were just vignettes about the core kitties and family in this one. It did feel pretty short- the cute paper dolls in the back are a nice addition, though!

It's Showtime, Sophie is another collection of BCN strips, featuring the Sophie-at-Tusslemania arc as well as a bunch of single-strip stories. Not quite as funny as some of the other collections, but still a very enjoyable read.
