Cosima von Bonin: Roger and Out

Rate this book
Over the last 15 years, Cosima von Bonin has produced sculpture, photography, textile “paintings,” installation, performance, film, video and music--often combined in large installations. This generous survey addresses ideas of play, indoctrination, structure, improvisation, cultural and gender representations, identity and self-reflection--with both absurdity and humor.

Bonin is an artist who produces a body of work that makes a provocative and elusive statement about artistic identity and sovereignty, addressing the structures and power of social relations and art-historical lineages. My favourites of her works are Von Oben 2003, So far we're not 2006, and Schmollen Woman Lieges 2003.
