How did people in the Middle Ages live? What were their social, economic, political, and cultural lives like? This title answers these questions and more with informative text, colorful photographs and original source materials, and clear maps and diagrams to show readers what life was like in ancient civilizations.
I enjoyed this book! It begins with a map of Europe during the Middle Ages and a timeline that shows the period from 700 A.D. through 1600 A.D. It made me particularly curious about the Crusade, and how the world was changed by the plague. Apparently, the first book was printed on a printing press in 1454 A.D., and the Renaissance followed quickly behind in 1500 A.D.
I will continue reading children's books about history, because they always make me curious to learn more, they are usually illustrated very well, and they give me a nice overview of the period in question without ever becoming boring.
This book offers an informative look into life in the Middle Ages and would be an enjoyable complementary resource to go with any middle school World History text books. The layout is nicely done with lovely photographs, diagrams of various buildings, maps, and an easy to follow narrative.
