WILLOW For Willow, love is out of the question. Being the primary caretaker of her disabled sister, as well as dealing with her own demons, takes up almost all of her spare time. She’s unwilling to part with the rest. Until he comes along. When she meets Milo Schwarz, everything changes in a second. The only problem is that he’s not exactly human.
MILO Being at the top of the food chain has its perks... and even more so when you lead one of the most vicious packs in your city. Milo Schwarz has come home after retiring from his service in the military, but before he has time to so much as settle in, he catches a scent. Her scent. Now, the chase is on. Milo will stop at nothing to obtain the object of his affections... whether she accepts their bond or not.
A Wolf of War is the first in The Tooth & Claw Duet. This is a mafia-esque Werewolf Romance with a little more spice than plot. Please mind the warnings at the front of the book and on Juniper's website as it may contain upsetting content for some.
"It was absurd. Pathetic, even. That she was having filthy, depraved dreams about the man who had stolen her away. Her captor… With those hands. That mouth. That voice. Delicious. Decadent. Dirty."
A Wolf of War was a quick, easy read with a take on werewolves that is close to what we would normally consider wolf shifters. This book was a lot of tension and back and forth between the MMC and FMC.
After Milo, leader of one of the two major werewolf packs in town, kidnapped Willow, his human mate, the book was mostly them trying to work out things between them and if Willow would accept Milo and being a part of his world.
This definitely a slow burn with some popular tropes: ✅️ Fated Mates ✅️ Kidnapping ✅️ Forced Proximity ✅️ He falls first ✅️ Mafia style werewolf packs
This definitely ended with a major cliffhanger, but one that was obviously coming throughout the entire book. It was an OK, quick read for me. I liked the story, but it felt a bit slow at times with the constant back and forth between Willow and Milo. It wasn't really anything new, but it was an enjoyable book to read once.
Thank you to Juniper Hartmann for the ARC copy of this book.
Loved that the fmc was fiesty but in all the best relatable ways. She gets thrown into some sorta crazy situations and handles them as expected. There’s decent build up to the spice which is well placed and adds to the plot, and of course there as with any good werewolf romance there is knotting 😉 the end might be a little triggering for some and it is a cliff hanger but can’t wait for book two. Thanks Juniper for the arc ❤️
4.5⭐ A wolfshifter/Mafia story. It's the first book of a duet. It was fast paced, slowburn, a lot of tension and pining. Loved the banter in the book it made me laugh out loud many times. Also really loved the action in the book. I missed a bit of background on the main characters to really get to know them some more. But overall it was a fantastic read. Can't wait for the second one!
So about the story📖⬇️ Willow gets on a date with Milo who turns out to be a Wolfshifter. Not only is he a wolfshifter but also the head of a gang. Milo decides to kidnap Willow because she is his mate and there are other gangs after her to get to him. But the kidnapping part doesn't go down well with Willow and Milo has a big job to earn her trust.

I wanted to like this book so badly because it's werewolves and fated mates. I love this trope but alas I think the way it was done, it just felt very forced and misogynistic at times. There was even two points in the book were the Milo refers to Willow as his bitch. I mean idk if thats like just their werewolf terminology but that was a big turn off for me.
Additionally, I feel like there was so much opportunity for us to get a morally gray yearning man but instead we just get someone who feels that he should get Willow because its fate. No bestie, you need to work for it. She can reject you smh
Also the way he revealed that he was a werewolf was actually so crazy, not in a good way. I was genuinely shocked on how he thought that would work out LMAO
Thank you once again to Juniper Hartmann for the eARC and the opportunity to read this book early.
ARC Review – A Wolf of War I really struggled with this book, and while I wanted to love it, it ultimately wasn’t a good fit for me. The writing style felt more like an early draft which made it hard for me to stay engaged, and it lacked the depth I personally look for. Character descriptions were sparse and delayed, making it difficult to picture or connect with anyone aside from mentions of muscles early on and eye color much later. The story also seemed to skip over important background details. For example, Willow is described as her sister’s caregiver, but her sister (who is said to be disabled) is often the one driving, cooking, and cleaning, which was confusing and inconsistent. The male lead being referred to as “military/ex-military” throughout felt underdeveloped, as if more research was needed. The dynamic between the leads also didn’t land for me. The use of “bitch” was intended as a wolf-related term, but instead came across harsh and uncomfortable. For something marketed as a supernatural romance, there wasn’t much supernatural content beyond the initial setup and a bit of explanation. That said, I can see this working for readers who are newer to dark romance or looking for something quick and easy to read without too much world-building. I also admire the author’s note about moving beyond pure smut into plot-driven writing that’s not an easy leap, and with more refinement, I think their storytelling could grow stronger. Unfortunately, I just wasn’t the target audience for this one.
Rating: 1/5 stars World building: 0/5 stars Character building: 0/5 stars Plot: 1/5 stars Spice: 1/5 chili peppers
I was so excited to be apart of Juniper's ARC team for this book. I love shifter romance books, and so this seemed right up my alley. This was my second shifter ARC of September, and unfortunately this book fell so flat for me. This is my first time reading Juniper's writing, and I think it'll be my last.
The whole book made no sense and DRAGGED on. Why would Milo keep his Beta away to watch Willow's sister instead of just bringing her to the house so they can all be protected? Why would he let her continue to go get an abortion without him, when he's been told the whole town has been attacked, if his SOLE purpose this entire book was being so protective of her. He didn't even introduce her to his pack because he didn't trust them not to hurt Willow. Also, Willow's chronic fatigue was mentioned randomly, and made no sense. At the beginning of the book the author made it seem like she was just tired from her hangover and her sister was the one with a chronic illness. As for the book dragging on, he time frame of this book was one month long. I wouldn't have minded how little of a time frame was covered, if there was actually some character and world building, but this book lacked everything.
Another huge flaw in the writing was the back and forth between first person and third person within the same paragraph. If I'm reading a chapter named 'Willow', it should be in first person, instead of immediately talking about Willow in the third person. I usually DNF books in the third person but really wanted to give this a shot to see if it improved, and it never did.
Also, the way the author brought in the military sayings and stuff without actually talking about Milo's background was cringe. Being a veteran myself, it was really hard to read those parts and not get second hand embarrassment.
As far as spice level, there basically wasn't any. There were three scenes with spice, and then a dream state where "spicy" stuff would happen, but not really.
Juniper, from what I've seen you are newer to the actual world building stuff, instead of pure smut. I would take the time to slow down, and decide where on paper you want to be and stick with it. If anyone else reads this review, Juniper asked that we leave a review, even 1 stars, so that's what I'm doing. Good luck with your writing Juniper! I hope you're able to build stronger foundations for the sequel.
First, a huge thank you to @juniperhartmann for giving me the opportunity to read and review an ARC copy! I seriously could “Knot” put this down. Okay, now that I’ve gotten that out of my system—on to the review.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
“He kissed her again, slow and consuming, as though he could steady her with his mouth alone. And Willow let herself fall into it, into him—into the dangerous, undeniable truth that she wanted him, too.”
A Wolf of War had me hooked within the first couple of chapters, and I ended up binging it in just a few days. The story follows Milo, an ex-military man who also happens to be a werewolf tangled up in the mafia. Enter Willow—human, strong-willed, and Milo’s fated mate. Meanwhile, a rival alpha is making dangerous moves, forcing Milo to risk everything to protect her.
This book delivered it all: spice, grit, dark edges, and even moments that made me laugh. What really stood out for me were the characters. Milo is the perfect mix of dominant, protective, and patient, while Willow is sweet but also determined and unwilling to bend too easily to their bond. The side characters shine as well—Titan, Lachlan, and even the cats add depth and charm. I’m especially excited to see more of Poppy and Arlo in future books. And that cliffhanger? Brutal. I regretted reading so fast because I wasn’t ready to let go of these characters yet.
⚠️ Readers should note: this is a dark romance, with dark themes. Please check trigger warnings before diving in. But if you love smutty fantasy books with grit, spice, and fated mates, this one’s definitely for you.
I LOVED this approach to a werewolf story! I learned so much and felt it was such a possessive and strong representation! A slow burn that kept the intrigue going until the big show and then some! And I’m sorry but the ending broke my heart and made me want the second book like yesterday!
TL;DR: I don't like the MCs and they both suck. MMC sucks for being very misogynistic, even if it was unintentional, and the FMC sucks for putting up with him.
First impression: A dark mafia werewolf romance? Sounds like a good escape from reality to me. I'm in.
20% complete: I really do not know if I like or dislike these characters. Willow and her sister Poppy are just off and I can't figure out why. Milo is unhinged and totally stalking the FMC. Being your fated mate doesn't make it okay to stalk the poor woman! Even if you do try to hold back and give her time to accept your presence… lol I do like Arlo, he seems normal. Ish. I didn't like the use of “bitch” to refer to Willow, even if it's technically a correct term for a female canine. It was a jarring line.
50% complete: Ehh, Willow appears to be TSTL and I have a feeling I'm reading because I want her to get smarter but know that she won't. But I'm halfway through it and just know something bad is going to happen to her because she's the stupid kind of stubborn. Milo is still unhinged and morally grey, but at least he's self-aware. Unlike Willow who thought it was a good idea to sneak up on the wolf who can hear and smell everything and then was surprised she stood no chance of hitting him with the frying pan.
70% complete: Hey, so we pretty much just discovered that Willow has blue eyes. I don't have pictures in my head (yay aphantasia), but I normally know what the FMC looks like way before the 2/3 mark. I saw character art before starting the book, so until the random eye color mention, I hadn't realized we still didn't have a description of Willow. And I still don't understand how a wolf pack is just four guys, but they can have huge power over what sounds like a decently sized city.
83% complete: Ugh, he's called her his “bitch” again and I hate it. Yes, the casual misogyny fits his type of character but I still hate it.
85% complete: “Don’t worry, sweetheart. You don’t have to think. You just have to grow my babies,” he growled into her ear. 🤢🤢🤮🤮
89% complete: I do not believe he'd be that accommodating. I believe he’d be exactly what she feared and she's solidified her TSTL status in my mind. 🤷🏻♀️
Final thoughts: The author is funny outside of her book, but Willow never grew on me and Milo seemed like every ammosexual I grew up with and now don't talk to because they're hiding behind a “moderate” label to avoid being called out for being a red hat wearing misogynist. No, there is no political talk in the book, but with the limited descriptions of the characters, inferences have been made. Also, my confusion on the pack size was finally cleared up at like 98%.
I received a free advance copy of this book from the author and all opinions are my own.
This was my first werewolf romance and I thought it was interesting learning the rules of the pack. I enjoy the fated mates aspect between Milo and Willow and watching how the relationship developed. I wasn’t particularly a fan of how animalistic the mmc talked about sex and the whole knot thing. It makes sense for a werewolf to be driven by the carnal desires but the language he used just made me cringe a little. The shower scene had me hysterical. It was slow burn too but I wish it had of been more spicy. There were times when the sexual tension was rife and it would have been good to have explored this more.
I’m fairly new to dark romance as well so the kidnapping and stalking was interesting. Major Stockholm syndrome vibes. Milo’s character was frustrating with how he communicated and when he chose to share information.
I unfortunately don’t think the chronic fatigue was explained particularly well. One of the tropes was advertised as disability rep but I thought it was her sister who had a disability or illness not her, or did they both have a disability. I’m really not sure.
I enjoyed the mafia side of this story and the brewing war between packs and I really enjoyed the ending. I literally had my mouth hanging open in shock. I couldn’t believe it. I’m looking forward to the next book to find out what happens.
Overall I would give this 3.5 stars (rounded up to 4 for Amazon & Goodreads).
I absolutely devoured this book. It was beautifully written; with lines that made me pause with awe, wonderfully descriptive narration, and thoughtfully done points of view.
This author has a true gift of words, layering them in strokes like a painting. She let the characters tell the story and allowed it unfold in a way that felt so real and vivid. This book truly read like a movie in my mind.
I related so much to the FMC, Willow. She is a realistic mix of organized and unobservant, caring and sharp, quiet and fierce. And Milo, the MMC was perfectly balanced in his stoic, masculine energy and his yearning and devotion. The way their dynamic unfolded was so organic and the tension was delicious. A slow burn in the best way. The mix of werewolf and mafia genres made for an intense and thrilling read. With the threat of an enemy pack, and truths that Milo doesn’t fully share, this book had me on the edge of my seat. Ending on the most dramatic of cliff hangers, I am left wanting more more more!
I received an e-ARC in exchange for my honest review.
I love a good wolf shifter story and gobbled this one up, it's the first in a duology and the cliff hanger ending means I need that second book asap please!
Milo is the alpha of a pack that rules half of the city mafia style, he is a strong and respected leader and is only missing a queen by his side. Enter Willow, a human who has no idea this underbelly of the city even exists. She ends up being scooped up forcibly into Milo's world as he realises they are fated together.
His enemy is proposing a truce but something feels off, they're trying to find out what the real play is all whilst Milo and Willow circle each other and slowly she adjusts to her new reality.
There is disabled rep in the book which is great to see and some adult themes around a woman's body and her rights, which I feel are handled well.
There is spice and I'd say check your trigger warnings too.
Im not kidding when i say i finished this book in a matter of HOURS. It sucked me in from the first few chapters.
Everything about it was just so different from anything I’ve read so far. Monsters in a modern world, the crime lord aspect, the spicy tension between the FMC and MMC was so tastefully done. The relationships between all the characters was perfect. The heart stopping surprises🫣 Everything about it was just like *chefs kiss*
ALSO - We love an understanding & supportive MMC❤️🔥.
There were many comedic points that actually made me giggle, the FMC was a main reason for that.
It’s a book that keeps you guessing & the cliffhanger was SO GOOD. I wish book two was out, i already want more.
The only thing i would change is, i personally think that there should be a trigger warning in the beginning of the book - one or more situations can be hard for some readers as they may have experienced it themselves.
If you love modern worlds, close bonds, paranormal romance, mafia-esque environment, wolves and lore, fated mates, spice🌶️(when it gets there) and more.
This dark mafia romance was challenging to read, but also really addictive!! The action of the story start quickly. A couple of chapters in and you’re already in the plot.
The only thing I would have like to add is more details about the characters. But, the more the story continue, the more we understand about the main characters.
The author said she had focus on the plot and I think this is a win! The spice is quite there but it doesn’t overshadow the rest of the story. I think it’s well balanced. Can we talk about the cliffhanger ending…. OMG!!! I need book two right now please !!
Thank you Juniper for the gifted ARC. I really enjoyed this reading !!
I don’t know what I expected, but the blurb, cover, and tropes lured me in—and then I devoured this book in less than 24 hours, only to be left staring at the wall after finishing.
This was dark, intense, and surprisingly sweet all at once. Milo and Willow hooked me immediately. I adored their dynamic (even if I wished Willow had asked a few more questions 😉). I laughed out loud a few times, and two scenes in particular gave me full-body shivers (the good kind!).
✨ Favorite moments: “He loved her because she was fire and steel, because she was stubborn enough to stand toe-to-toe with him, because she still carried gentleness in a world that had done its best to strip it from her.”
“She no longer pined for candlelight under the stars. Not since meeting him. No, Willow wanted to be taken under a swollen moon.”
It ends on a dark cliffhanger, that was not completely unexpected, but still — check your triggers before diving in. I’ll be crying with you while we wait for book two of The Tooth & Claw Duet.
Tropes you’ll find here: • Dubcon • Somno • Forced proximity • Mafia-esque environment • Werewolves & lore • Breeding kink • Slow(ish) burn • Spicy AF when it gets there • He falls first • Fated mates • Disability rep • Kidnapping / stalking — 5 stars + 🌶️🌶️🌶️
Thank you Juniper Hartmann for the ARC 💙 All opinions are my own.
I was really excited for this one based on the concept of shifter mafia vibes - I love all things mafia and werewolves but this one just didn't do it for me.
I've never read a book from this type of POV, it felt like it was 3rd person perspective but then would have 1st person dialogue, which just left me a little mixed up. So I struggled with that a lot and couldn't really push past it.
I ended up not finishing this one because I just couldn't get on board with the story line or the plot, there was a "bitch" comment at one point that just didn't hit the way I think Juniper expected it too. After that part I just struggled to really feel invested in the story.

Alpha Male ✅ Fated mates ✅ Morally Gray MC ✅ Forced Proximity ✅ Mafia ✅ Knotting ✅ Cliffhanger ✅
A Wolf of War was a good read. Some back story could have been elaborated a little more, but I can’t wait to see what happens next. Thank you Juniper Hartmann for this ARC.
Junie does is again! I am absolutely OBSESSED with this read!! You will fall in and get sucked into the story! At multiple points I was just going to read a few more chapters then set the book down and I absolutely couldn’t not going to lie!
Juniper creates a world that will draw you in and make you want to stay! You will laugh, be angry along side the characters, be intrigued, and so much more start to finish!! I absolutely loved Willow and Milo, they are such interesting characters! Seeing there interactions plus the interactions of most the rest of the pack was thoroughly enjoyable!
You want Mafia Werewolves? Then this story is for you! We get to see a lot of the background of how they exist in the pack house and get little bits of mafia interactions here and there which I enjoyed! Also please please please be ready for the slowest of slow burns! I was obsessed with seeing the romantic blossoming of Milo and willows relationship!
Get excited! This one comes out soon! And remember Cum is stored in the knot 😉

Have you ever wondered what it would be like if you had an alpha werewolf fated mate, one completely devoted to you but completely changed your life? Placed in a situation that your brain demands you fight against, but your heart pulls to him anyway? On the other side, what if you came back from military service and found your fated mate who happens to be human and you want nothing more than to make her yours and be with her forever but your plan to introduce her to your life doesn't go as planned? Would you do anything to keep her safe while dealing with a rival mafia werewolf pack? This book gives you that experience exceptionally well through Willow and Milo as the story unfolds with alternating chapters from their points-of-view. It does end with a surprise and a cliffhanger. I highly recommend this book for lovers of paranormal romance if you enjoy fated mates, forced proximity, captor/captive, morally grey MMC, slow burn romance but very spicy when it gets there!
The writing was easy to follow and kept me glued to the pages, especially with the little descriptions thrown in that relate to the characters like military references to describe feelings. The chapters alternated between Willow and Milo and were broken into scenes that melded together well to create a seamless story with each character having distinct and complex personalities. The plot involved both the love story between the two as well as the overarching rivalry between packs. The werewolf lore contained new and different takes on certain aspects that made it fun and interesting to read, including being tied into the mafia scene. The romance built wonderfully and I could feel what the characters were feeling throughout the book. There wasn't much spice or steam until the later part of the book, but plenty of hints at how hot the spice will be. I highlighted so many sweet, sassy, and spicy phrases that I absolutely loved! Overall, I found no faults with this book. I can't wait to read the sequel!
Thank you Juniper Hartmann for the ARC of this book for consideration of a review. All opinions are my own.
I really wanted to love this book but I had such a hard time being immersed into the story. I loved the concept of Mafia and Wolf Shifter romance, two of my favorite genres combined but this didn’t give me much mafia and maybe later on it will give or even in book two . I feel like this is more mafia light, heavy romance and medium wolf shifter.
I felt like we were randomly thrown into the story in the middle of their lives. Idk I just feel like we needed more information on Milo and how he came to the states, why and why for Willow; plus how he knew about her. It felt fast paced and slow paced all at the same time it was confusing. I did not finish I reached to 25% roughly, I just was struggling to connect with the characters. I loved Willow don’t get me wrong she’s very type A and her sister is very go with the flow but the material figure with disability rep which I truly did love. Milo I could tell had sweet moments but idk he didn’t wasn’t it for me. I can’t tell if I wasn’t in the mood or just struggled with this.
I also didn’t love the ‘butch’ comment it was meant to be a term of endearment but it felt more like an insult. This doesn’t steer me away from trying again or trying her older writing but as of right now this isn’t it for me.
I want to say thank you to the author for the advance readers copy - all opinions are completely of my own.

I had the pleasure of receiving the ARC of A Wolf of War in exchange for a review. This is my take on it.
The story is solid and at times I had a lot of fun with the interactions between the characters. Lachlan is my vibe <3
We get to see the story from the dual perspective of Willow and Milo, the two main characters.
Milo is ex-military with boundary issues and a strange understanding of how to properly woo a woman. This turns into quite the trauma for our FMC when he snatches her into his world, without considering how a normal person might react to coming face to face with the supernatural.
Willow on the other hand is overworked and in need of some RNR. She is not in need of the bullshit Milo throws her way moments after they meet, and she has an absolutely reasonable reaction to it. Her responses are believable and it made reading about how she grapples with her new situation enjoyable. I am grateful that she has backbone, and didn't fall flat accepting everything that was happening to her. Watching the relationship between Willow and Milo grow as the story progressed felt realistic. At the end of the book I was invested and fully on the side of team Milo.
If I had one issue with the writing, it is that it was a bit repetitive when it came to describing Willow's attraction. But this can easily be overlooked, because the book was otherwise solid. I am definitely signing up for the next part of their story.
Also, on a side note the interactions I had with the author were quite lovely. She was very helpful and nice.
A Wolf of War was an enjoyable, fast-paced read filled with action, heart, and plenty of intrigue. I loved the energy and how quickly it drew me in. However, some parts felt a bit rushed, particularly when it came to Willow, her sister, and Milo’s character. I would have appreciated more depth and detail in their relationships and backstories, as they had a lot of potential. Milo, in particular, felt somewhat underdeveloped beyond his ex-military background, making it harder to connect. Despite this, the plot kept me engaged, and the ending, though somewhat predictable, left me curious about what happens next. Overall, a solid start to a series that demonstrates real promise, and I'm looking forward to seeing how the world and characters evolve from here. Thank you to Juniper Hartmann for the gifted eARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Check the TWs before reading! There’s some heavy topics and dark content in this book!
It’s been a hot minute since I read any shifter/werewolf stories, and when I saw Juniper Hartmann promoting her new dark mafia-esque werewolf romance I jumped on the opportunity to be an ARC reader. And I’m so glad I did because I freaking loved A Wolf of War. It pulled me in from the start and I just couldn’t put it down!
This book was fun in so many different ways. Willow struggling coming to terms with the fact that werewolves are freaking real? Relatable. Her putting Milo in his place when she thinks he’s being too big of an ass to his pack mates? Priceless. The shower scene? Downright freakin hilarious! I literally cried from laughing so hard.
Also, while he has some pretty major red flags, Milo also has some major green ones. Can he be a dummy and make some absolutely terrible decisions? Oh yeah. Does he treat Willow like his queen and do everything he can to make her happy (dumdum decisions aside)? Absolutely. His deep love for Willow, and his respect for her bodily autonomy is everything and I can’t wait to see how their relationship evolves in book 2.
So, aside from a cliffhanger that is going to eat away at my sanity (just warning ya, it’s a doozy), I very much enjoyed A Wolf of War and definitely recommendt it!
Big thanks to Junie for giving me the opportunity to ARC read her newest novel. Girl, you succeeded in writing a book that was more plot than sex and I can’t wait for book 2!
It has been a while since I read a werewolf/knotting book, and I forgot how GOOD they can be! I absolutely ate this book up, in less than 24 hours, and I am absolutely enraptured and floored by it. The care Milo showed over what Willow really wanted and needed, even through her hesitation and fear was unparalleled. I loved that the “war” aspect was on a slight back burner, but I have a strong sense that it's not going to stay that way in the next book! Thank you Juniper for letting me read this ARC❤️
First, werewolfs, yes please! Second, WHAT WAS THAT ENDING?!? How can you do this to me! I don’t know what to do now! I just wanna scream! * deep breaths * Milo, so yeah, he could watch me anytime and take me too! I really wouldn’t mind But seriously, that ending! I just can’t get over it, I need to know what is gonna happen! Willow, i’m not sure what i think of her. I kinda like her but i also yelled at her so many times The slow burn, is really slow burn, i loved that! This review is all over the place because i can’t think straight… That ending really messed up my head!
Unfortunately this was a DNF for me 😭 One of my favourite genres to read is shifter romances and I also love love my Mafia romances so I anticipated being in for a winner with this book, so i’m sad this wasn’t the case!
I think the book had some potential especially with those two worlds colliding, but I really struggled with the POV style, being switched between third and 1st person messed with my ability to connect with the characters!
This book was not at all what I expected and I mean that in the best way possible! First off, a special thank you to Juniper and her team for this advanced reader copy of A Wolf of War, I had a great time reading it!
Willow is a workaholic, living with her sister in the outskirts of the city. Milo has been watching her for months, waiting for the right time to step into Willow’s life. When it doesn’t go quite according to plan, Willow is kidnapped by Milo and the rest of the book if him trying to win her over to his side.
Milo surprised me, I was expecting this book to be a lot darker, and much spicer. He was patient with Willow and let her come to him, he didn’t force anything on her and gave her the time she needed to come around. Yes, she may have sorta been coerced into accepting him but it’s totally the bond, right? lol
The story focuses mainly on plot, but yet there still wasn’t a whole lot of plot to have. The cliffhanger was inevitable, I knew it was coming and honestly expected it a lot sooner in the novel. If there had been a little more plot/action, this would have been 5 stars for me.
Loved the book and I can’t wait to read the next one to see where Willow and Milo’s journey takes them!
First off I gotta say…WHAAAT?! How can you leave us hanging like that?!! Ok full disclosure folks, this book ends on a huge cliffhanger that WILL make you die to read the next one. I found the book really slow to start-everything literally seams to happen in the last 1/4 of the book-however…the author does a great job a building it up (don’t want to go into details here to not spoil anything) I have a feeling A LOT is going to happen in the next book so really looking forward to it!! If you like steamy shifter romances with some mafia in the mix, give this one a read.
This is my first ever ARC read and my first Juniper Hartmann novel, and I'll say she had me at werewolves and mafia. I've always loved werewolves and mafia books , so putting them together was like a dream come true. I won't lie to you when I tell you the beginning had me confused and questioning lots of the same stuff the FMC was later in the book. For warning, this book leaves on a cliffhanger, and I already want the second book to figure out what happens next! I'm excited to see where Juniper takes this story!
I was absolutely hooked on this book, and I'm eager to see where the story goes from the cliffhanger ending. I'd also like to see some sort of a back story or flashback to shed some insight on the beginning and answer some of the questions the FMC had as well as me, the reader have.
I LOVED that this was a wolf shifter AND mafia story, it was something I did not know I needed. I absolutely loved that the FMC was feisty in the best way!!
And honestly? it met ALL my expectations and more!
Fantastic writing. The banter was top notch, it had me cackling. I was engaged throughout the whole book.
Fast paced with a delicious slow burn. Concentrating more on the the plot which was refreshing.
