This is a really lovely account of Chris’s life with a wonderful amount of detail. You really get to know Chris and her journey through the words of this book. Some really poignant and quite emotional moments shared with great warmth and depth. A real pleasure to read and a book to be proud of.
An interesting and enjoyable read which fills in the gaps in parts of her life those who know her maybe never knew. For those who don’t know the author it will evoke memories of from childhood and how places and times have changed in the short time since the 1960’s and 70’s. Although I know a lot of the story, it was interesting to fill in the gaps of parts of Chris’ childhood which are positively emotional even if complicated at times and very different from most children nowadays. Chris has done a lot with her life and the book gives a historic look at nursing and her other accomplishments in her journey. She has so much time for those around her which is reflected in her experiences. Her children ( and others close to her heart) will cherish this book of her memories. I’m glad she has chosen to write it all down. I have emotional and positive memories in some of her story as she is someone who has been a big part of my adult life. She has used her experiences and connections well throughout her life to be a support and friend to many of us. My only wish is she kept writing and hope she goes on to tell more stories of experiences we have all had with her.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I felt as if I could imagine in my mind everywhere Chris wrote about. She speaks lovingly of her upbringing. Her granny did an amazing job in the absence of her mum, as did her father who did his best to nurture her within a loving family. Won’t spoil the details. Chris has had an amazing working life and each job on her journey has put her in good stead for the next. This is the fastest I have read a book in a long time. I would highly recommend you read this.
