The author is a talented writer and she crafts drama impeccably. I just struggle with her FMCs, like baby, they are NEVER EVER BRIGHT. Yes, I get it’s a story and some choices have to be made for the plot, but from open to close, the girls are DUMBBBBB AF.

I also strongly dislike the whole “I know something is off within our friendship and business dealings, but as the big boss, I’ma keep letting you make it.” Like sorry, that makes ZERO sense. This is the top dog, criminal mastermind, and they have an issue but it’s not addressed at all??

Then, knowing all the trio knows about each other, y’all really think Coast would leave it to Hurricane—WHO HE MADE HIS BODYGUARD???? Like bro, not even good muscle lmaooo. I’m sorry, that’s CRAZY.

Also, this might be nitpicking, but can we please get a new location? I get the author is from Cali and loves her city, but as a reader, her settings don’t vary enough for it to feel like a whole new world. Like a full and complete stand alone. The differences in the locations are so minor that it’s like, “Oh okay, this around the corner from the Demons,” lol. Nothing spectacular or special enough to make it stand out.

This author has a way of writing that understands the psychology of dark romance & the imagination behind the setting concepts is beyond dope but the actual allowance for scenes to breath, actions to match dialogue assertions, and believable action scenes greatly hinder the dark romance aspects. Biggest trouble is how abuse was framed as "your love language and you have to get out of that toxic cycle". That was a huge problem for me because that's not how DV should be framed as it falls into blaming victim for "allowing" it or staying. I did DNF around 67%.

I Loveeeeddd This !!

When it started all I wanted was for yummy to STAND UP! But that’s blunt how grief works .This book came together so well . From the Grief to the healing and all the ugly emotions in between I enjoyed this book. I felt everything like yummy and I were one . Mula was everything, and I think it takes true talent to write a standalone with so much depth but still close it out in one book! 15/10 I can’t wait to get my physical copy!!

Very entertaining

Great read!! This read took me through a few different emotions I was sad, mad, scared, happy. I couldn’t stand hurricane from the beginning. I loved how Yummi found her strength. It was definitely worth a read.

Fast-paced

The beach setting makes this story different from.the other hood stories. The story gives you a strong female but at the same time lets you see her vulnerable and where she falls short. Of course you have the classic betrayal that you see coming from.the beginning of the story. Worth the read.

Disloyalty Runs Deep but KARMA Runs Deeper

The way books are mentioning mental illness now is everything as it’s not addressed nor discussed much! As we know, in the world today it just slightly ignored or overlooked! Well let’s get into it! Oh before we do, once again Robin did not disappoint!
Greed and envy should be labeled as an illness. Well at least per this read it should be!

Ole Hurricane…. The way Hurricane became greedy and envied Coast was insane 🫣! Like they were brothers in the game or so we thought! Look off top I wasn’t feeling him! Like who crosses their so called brother and attempt to date his sister, when it was stated she was OFF LIMITS! However, he knew not to cross Mula! But he had plans for it all! Them plans was unfortunately successful, but that Karma was more powerful than he thought! Now, the way he treated Yummi once they made it official had me livid! Spoiled~ We drugging girlfriends now just to her say “ I’m yours” or forcing them to say “they love you”! Where they do that at 👀? Oh but the way that voice and vision (of Coast) wasn’t backing down or leaving until the true was revealed! See once Coast was no longer around, his mental illness came to the forefront and didn’t slow down at all. Coast was still that 🥷🏿 in the afterlife and made sure the truth was exposed and I was here for it!

Coast was that 🥷🏿 that no one in Southwave, Sable Cove or any other surrounding area wanted to see come. My guy played no games and no one dared to play any with him. Well except for one - dummy 🤣! He knew he had a snake in the camp but he was weeding them out, but I don’t believe he was expecting what happened. But regardless he was going to get that payback and since we know he couldn’t get in real life, he got it in the afterlife with the help of his right hand man, his REAL brother in the game - Mula!

Now Mula, this man was not the 2 nor the 1 to mess around with! At one point he look at both Coast and Hurricane as brother, but of course that all changed 🫣. Off top he seen how Hurricane was starting moving and seen the things he was in - messing with his own supplies. So with that my guy started moving differently with him. Not only that he seen how he trying to move with Yummi! I seen off top he was into Yummi himself, but his loyalty was to Coast so he respected the fact she was off limits! Oh but when Coast was no longer around and she start losing herself to Hurricane, he said enough was enough! But when he found out the truth on what happens to Coast- all bets were off the table. The way he handled what needed to be done was chief kiss to me and the way he loved on Yummi when she needed it was everything she needed and more!

Yumila aka Yummi, she was her brother keeper but at the same time she was grown and a woman! Despite what she does with her brother and his friends, she had her own life as well as passion for fashion! My girl was full of life! You know grief and depression can take ahold of you when life throws a curve ball, so see this happening to her had me sad 😔! Coast was her everything! He was the brother she felt anyone would love to have! With this Hurricane played on her and belittled, abused and degraded her. My girl would’ve been better by herself. Oh but Mula could no longer turn an eye and ignore what was happening, so of course he popped out and shown 🥷 that he was not the one and was applying pressure behind her!

Listen as you can see I can go on and on about this read. There are others such as Storm and Sparkle that I wanted to tap in on but if I keep going, I’ll never stop lol! Just know I don’t like neither one of them😠🤣🫣!!!!

Damn! Southwave took me on a hella ride! It didn't take long me to figure out who the snake would be. But why didn't anyone else? Coast already noticed that this person was moving funny, so why didn't he make a move? Ughhhh.... 😤

Yummy, Yummy, Yumy! Girl, I tried to give you some grace, but you knew better! 🤯 Just allowed grief to cripple you, while making bad decisions and losing your "whole" mind! Thank God Mula was somewhat looking out for you.

Now Mula, you are the one I am giving the strongest 👀to. You noticed Hurricane spiraling, and saw that he was wasn't taking care of business; why didn't you step in? Or at least do some digging? Lawd, between you and Yummy, I had a damn migraine with all you two had going on. I'm glad that the truth finally came to light, and things were handled. That Storm was a crazy heifer, and I was worried for a minute that she would cause a rift between Mula and Yummy.

Looking forward to seeing what's next in Southwave.

Off the coast

The way Robin brings a story to life is kind of twisted. It is more than about the urban aspect of a book, it be the mental. Each character had a vice in which they dealt with, and Mula was Yummi's savior, but also she was his.

You truly have to read to understand the web that was weaved of jealousy and deception. How it can eat at you and cause you to lose it all. How obsession can have the sweetest thing ending up with holes everywhere.

This was it and so much more.

Southwave is a place I wanna be

I didn’t think they’d ever get Storm. She was looney. I knew Hurricane was the one. Coast made him come clean, even from the grave. Yummi went through so much. I’m tight she didn’t go with Mula from jump. Let Hurricane abuse and belittle her. He was all over the place. To fabricate the Will was just evil. I’m glad they found out the truth though. I was mad that Mula went to Colorado to lay low and ended up with that crazy Storm. She got what she needed though.

There’s Character and Scene art/inspo included

⭐️⭐️⭐️.75|🌶️🌶️.75
The character art and scene art included was fire! The story gave more urban romance vs. dark romance to me. The characters throughout wasn’t personally my cup of tea because there was a cheating trope in this. I also felt like Mula needed to grovel after coming back almost a year later. Overall I’m still glad I checked this author out and think other readers should too because the base of the story line is good! 💖

Always make em feel it!

There is not one time while reading a Robin books, I didn’t feel like I was watching a movie. She finds a way to make you experience every emotion possible with ease. From one page to the next you will go through it. She will also make you hate a character or two just was easily as you fall in love with one. In these pages there is no fluff no extra words just pure storytelling that will keep you intrigued.

Hood Romance Is Accurate

Whew! This title lives up to its name! Southwave was a good romance, and I loved every word. Mula, Coast, Hurricane, and Yummi had me locked in from page one! Hurricane got what he deserved in the end for doing what he did. Yummi and Mula were the IT couple, and I'm glad that once they got rid of their opps! They got back to running the city! I highly recommend it! You won't be sorry.

Mr. Mula and Ms. Yummi

Listen Yummi had me worried the first half of the book. I was waiting on her to boss up on Hurricane. Mula had me worried I thought he was taking Yummi from one messed up situation to another, but they both redeemed themselves. I love the touch on postpartum depression because it is real and sometimes you don’t know when it hit you.

This is my 1st read by this author and I think I need to see where to I needed to start to get this author. I liked the book don’t get me wrong but I really feel like it was the FMC that was getting under my skin and had me ready to DNF this book. However I finished Yummi just didn’t make scenes to me and it took way to long to get to where this book needed to get going. This book had me questioning a few moves that were made and the people that were put in place or around the people. Like come on if Coast was the big man and he felt something was off why didn’t you have someone detailed with your sister and or your righthand know what was in your will? If the parents knew what it was why didn’t they come forward? How did Hurricane even make it that long if they all knew something was off and he was the damn bodyguard and more than one person knew he was up to fuck shit? Why the hell it take Mula so long to make moves and there is no way I would have let this man play in my face with the women I love for so long? I will be back for another story by teh author soon.
