Phyllis (Phil) Dubois has long left her performing days behind, opting for a more anonymous role in the music industry instead. Something not everyone is happy about. When the pressure for her to return to the stage mounts, she packs her things in an old RV and hits the road in search of some peace and quiet.
She thinks she’s found it when she rolls into the small town of Silence.
Former sheriff, Brant Colter, is still trying to get used to his abrupt retirement after a health scare last year. He’s not good with change and likes things just the way they are.
That’s why, when a purple-haired hippie moves into the empty house down the road, he’s convinced trouble won’t be too far behind.
He’s not wrong. However, it’s not his annoyingly cheerful neighbor he should be worried about, but the danger that follows her to town.
USA Today bestselling author Freya Barker loves writing about ordinary people with extraordinary stories. Driven to make her books about 'real' people; she creates characters who are perhaps less than perfect, each struggling to find their own slice of happy, but just as deserving of romance, thrills and chills in their lives.

This was a nice lazy Sunday read. More and more, I’m getting into these small town settings. I like the multiple side characters that bring more to the story. The way the author described Phil’s (Phyllis) new house sounds like my dream home. Brant was wonderfully grumpy. I have no idea why I like that. 🤷♀️ I also liked Phil, but she way overreacted to a question from Brent that didn’t quite sit well with me. Overall, this was an enjoyable read and I’d love more from this small town of Silence, Washington.
Freya Barker has this magical way of pulling me in from page one, and Finding Silence is no exception. This story is layered with emotion, grit, and a deep sense of heart. The characters felt so real, flawed, strong, and quietly vulnerable in ways that hit me right in the chest. The romance built naturally, the chemistry undeniable, but what really got me was the emotional weight. This book isn’t just about finding love, it’s about finding healing, trust, and strength in the aftermath of life’s messiness. I turned the last page, my heart content and excited to get more in this series.
Well once again well written characters and solid plot . Nice to have a fully rounded out story that is about people and their journey through life. Highlighting the middle years of people’s life’s still having adventures and experiences that continue to shape and growth them.
This is the first book in a new series by Freya. Phyllis is a bit of a hippie and has been traveling all over the country. She found Silence and loves the area. She has decided to stay a bit and buys a house. Brant has recently retired after heart issues. His daughter is the new sheriff and Phyllis bought the house next door. Phil is looking forward to starting this next part of her life. However parts of her last chapter are still hanging on. She was in a band once upon a time. How far are those parts willing to go to make sure they get what they want? Brant is curious about Phil. The more they are around each other the more Brant becomes interested in her in a way he hasn't been interested in anyone is a long time. Could this be a chance for something new for both of them? Brant will do everything in his power to protect Phil. But will they be able to figure out who is after her in time? This was a fantastic read. I can't wait to read the next book in the series. These characters are wonderful. I love that Freya's books are usually about characters later in their lives. It is refreshing to not read about 20 somethings, not that those books are great as well. It is great to read about second chances and fresh starts. I can't recommend Freya's books enough.
Finding Silence is a novella by Freya Barker and introduces us to the town of Silence, Washington for her new Silence Series. This is an enemies-to-lovers, later-in-life, small-town romantic suspense story. It is a sweet and easy read about Phyllis ‘Phil’ Dubois who is looking for a quiet and private life after years in the spotlight and Brant Colter, who is trying to figure things out after he has had to retire. Neither have any idea of the trouble that she is about to bring into their lives. A great story of unexpected chemistry and a little danger as the sparks fly between a singer and the ex sheriff.
Phil has given up performing and chosen to have an anonymous role as a songwriter. She has packed her belongings and is travelling to find somewhere new to settle down. The old school bus she drives helps her avoid unwanted attention and gives her the freedom to do what she wants after years of her life being controlled. She falls in love with the idyllic town of Silence and immediately buys a house. It then turns out her nearest neighbour is the sheriff.
Brant Colter is furious his body let him down and heart surgery forced his retirement. It doesn’t help that he is now suffering from chronic post op pain in his chest. He is grumpy, ill tempered and has serious trust issues. He is furious when a cheerful woman with purple hair moves next door as he knows his quiet life is about to be turned upside down. His first impression is she’s going to be trouble but he never expects what actually happens.
Savvy, his daughter is the new sheriff and faces problems of her own. They are understaffed, overstretched and many aren’t pleased she has taken over from her dad so she is fighting to prove she can do the job. I loved how she teases him relentlessly and how she realises there is a spark between the couple so asks him to keep an eye out for Phil when things start to disturb their peace.
I liked how they were both ready to explore their relationship and experience things they never had before. Brant goes from resenting his new neighbour to falling for her and becoming possessive and protective of her. He has never been impulsive or out of control until she came along. She challenges him and is unlike anyone he’s ever met before. Phil is always happy and surprises him at every turning their relationship, she’s fun and has such a playful attitude. Can he cope with the excitement she’ll bring into his life.
I laughed so much over Angus and the underwear, the scene when their make out session doesn’t go as planned and how competitive they got while fishing. There are some good plot twists and there is more involved than anyone first thinks. Phil values her reputation and hates someone is trying to tarnish it. When the threats become actions, it’s not only her life in danger, even Angus is at risk!! Can Brant admit his feelings and come to her rescue when she really needs him. A sweet and delightful quick read about an older couple and a fun start to a new series.
FINDING SILENCE is the first instalment in Freya Barker’s contemporary, adult SILENCE erotic romantic suspense series focusing on the small town of Silence Washington. This is forty-six year old, retired singer Phyllis ‘Phil’ Dubois, and fifty three year old, former Sheriff Brant Colter’s story line.
NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Phil and Brant) FINDING SILENCE follows singer Phyllis ‘Phil’ Dubois as she settles in Silence Washington for some peace and quiet away from the spotlight and fame that had become overwhelming. Meeting grump, retired sheriff Brant Colter found out heroine enjoying a life she never thought about but a life that was about to take a dark turn. Someone is targeting our story line, and retired sheriff Brant Colter declares himself guardian and protector of the woman with whom he will fall in love. Brant Colter was forced into retirement in the wake of health scare, leaving his daughter as the new sheriff of Silence Washington. Struggling with his preconceived notions about our story line heroine, Brant’s barely veiled anger hides a deeper interest into the arrival of his new neighbor.
The world building follows several paths as Phil moves into Silence, and is welcomed by everyone but the former town sheriff. With the help of her business manager Grace, Phil settles into her new routine but not everyone is happy with her need to hide.
The relationship between Phil and Brant begins acrimoniously but Phil refuses to allow Brant to spoil her fun. Phil is hoping to relax and take some time to herself but the past is not far behind, and Brant is about to find the life of a former sheriff is never far behind. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate.
We are introduced to several townsfolk in Silence Washington including Brant’s daughter, the new sheriff Savvy Colter, as well as Phil’s business manager Grace, and former bandmate Duncan Brothers, and business man Roy Battaglia.
FINDING SILENCE is a story of betrayal and vengeance, family and friendships, relationships and love. The character driven premise is fast paced, intriguing and dramatic; the romance is seductive and impassioned; the characters are determined and dynamic.
An author I love is starting a new series and I am EXCITED to read the first book in her Silence Series. Every book I have read by Freya Barker has been a keeper!
What I liked: * That the main characters are a bit older and easy for me to relate to though these are still twenty years younger than I am. * Phyllis “Phil” Dubois/Wood: mid-forties, looking for normal, music writer, was in a band she headlined, single, fun, levelheaded, someone I would like as a friend, attracted to Brant * Brant Colter: retired sheriff, widow, father, a bit grumpy, highly regarded, honest, has several rescue animals, good friend, had a health scare a year ago, protective, attracted to Phil * Watching the relationship grow between Phil & Brant * Savvy: sheriff, Brant’s daughter, lost her fiancé a few years previously, strong, independent, intriguing * Diesel: a Dandruff, or Great Dane Mastiff mixed breed rescue dog that was eventually taken in by Phil * The mystery of who is behind discrediting Phil in the media and then escalates * The plot, pacing, setting, and writing * That there were no loose ends at the end of the story though I am curious about what kind of music Phil writes and whether she sang or was on instruments * Knowing that there will be another book and that Savvy will be one of the main lead characters * All of it really except…
What I didn’t like * Who and what I was meant not to like * The reason behind the smear campaign that became physical toward the end * Thinking about why some people are or are not honest/evil * Having to wait for the next book
Did I like this book? Yes Would I read more in the series? Yes
Thank you to the author for the ARC – This is my honest review.
Silence, Washington is the setting for a new series by Freya Barker. As most small towns go, when someone new moves in, everyone wants to know the new kid in town. Or in this case, the new purple haired bus driving woman who has moved in. Phil aka Phyllis is that woman. A singer taking a break from the stress of performing has opted for a quiet life in a quiet town. She is ready to just relax and unwind when her grumpy neighbor with crazy rescue animals shows up and immediately judges her. She is used to handling crazy people as a musician but something about Brant gives her pause and make nice with the new neighbor. It's not just her grumpy neighbor she has to worry about. Her former bandmate is pressuring her back into performing and unsettling occurrences start happening to her. Who do you turn to? The grumpy ex sheriff who despite his misgivings about her, steps up to help keep her safe. Brant as the former sheriff of Silence was forced to early retirement because of a health scare. He lives a solitary life with his rescues and he likes it. Then his life is upended when a new neighbor moves in that he sees as trouble. When said neighbor comes to him for help, he forgets his opinion of her and steps up to help. What he finds out is that she is a woman with spirit and he changes his mind about her. Freya Barker is known for her storytelling and she doesn't skimp on it here. Her characters are believable and strong in their own way. As an older reader I like the more mature characters and the ordinaryness of their lives. Of course I still appreciate the chemistry she creates with them. Being older does not mean being boring. I already own every one of her books. I'm more than happy to add to that collection.
Right out of the gate, I liked it better than her last series, (High Mountain Trackers) which plodded along in a very grey world. The leads were often written like they were many years older than their declared ages. I didn't even read the last one because it was too frustrating.
This new series starts off with a much fresher kick. The FMC is a happy, smart person looking for a peaceful place to plant and start a more settled life after years as a famous music performer. The MMC is a newly retired sheriff who had serious health issues and is still trying to adjust to his new normal..These two are supposedly explosive together, but we don't really see that. We're told this, but the spice is in extremely short supply here. I guess that makes sense since this is one very short story at only 154 pages.
It was hard to get invested when the story was way too short and there was a decided lack of spice. Also I'm wondering if the newest trope is very general $exual encounters with virtually no details? FB has written a lot of books with pretty smokin hot encounters. This was almost "fade-to-black" in its simplicity. One of the reasons I've liked FB books is because she typically writes mature love and $ex, and it's realistic with significant details if you catch my drift. This time? Nope. That's not this reader's jam.
Overall, this was a short story with a predictable "mystery" and two mature leads. Very little spice, and a very quick read.
Also, the next story is about the MMC's daughter. So I guess mature leads are out the window, which is another disappointment.
Ms Barker packs a punch in this shorter story set in Silence, Washington. We still get her totally relatable characters, lots of side characters to pull us into a good series and a wonderful small quaint town nestled full of beautiful scenery. A story that pulls you in and holds you to the very end, having you wanting more pages, more time with her characters.
Phil is looking for some quiet as she has left her performing days behind her. It's time to slow down and do the things she loves. Though her band members are not happy with that stand she is making.
Brant is still struggling with the lack of things to do since his heart attack and his recent early retirement. The last thing he is looking for is a purple haired neighbor to make his beautiful quiet space noisy.
Though their first few meetings were not pleasant, they are quick to find they might have more in common than they first thought. When weird things start to happen at Phil's home, who better to have in your corner than an ex Sherriff?
Grab your copy and hold on while Phil finds out the hard way that you can't always trust those closest to you. But she does find a new love that she is happy to replace the old life with.
Excited for what will come from Silence, Washington next in the series.

Finding Silence is the first book in what appears to be a new series which centers on the small town of Silence, Washington. With a town name like Silence you just know it will be anything but and this book kicks that off in a great way. Phyllis 'Phil' Dubois is a singer who is ready to retire from the stage and move on to doing other things. But when her band is not happy with her decision and continue to pressure her to come back she decides to do the opposite....hit the road and to find what she wants most at the moment, silence. Brant Colter is the former Sheriff of Silence he had to take an early retirement last year after a heart attack. He is still not sure what he is going to do and is a man who is used to being busy, which he is definitely not at the moment. Phil arrives in Silence and rents a house down the street from Brant. One look at Phil and Brant is sure she is going to be causing trouble, I mean she does have purple hair right. What transpires between them is sweet, funny, makes you want to kick Brant's butt more than a few times, and also makes you swoon with the way he steps in and up for Phil when strange things start happening to her. I really enjoyed this first book and am looking forward to getting to meet more residents of Silence.
As with all of Freya Barker’s books, her writing does not disappoint and her characters become family to the reader. They make you laugh, make you worry and make you cheer them on. I love that the characters are middle aged.
The main characters in this story are Phyllis (Phil) Dubois, which is a nom de plume as she was a performer, and Brant Colter who is the former sheriff of the small town of Silence. Phil is outgoing and has a sunny disposition while Brant is grumpy - no other word will do. Additional characters are Savvy, Brant’s daughter who is now the sheriff of Silence, and Grace who is Phil’s business manager.
Brant believes trouble will follow Phil to Silence based on her appearance - ripped jeans, purple hair - and her numerous musical instruments. He’s not wrong. One of Phil’s bandmates is pressuring her to resume touring. The issue escalates which drives Phil and Brant closer together with a twist at the end which I didn’t see coming. Will Phil and Brant get the HEA?
This story is well written and entertaining. I read it in one sitting and highly recommend this book.
Have you ever met someone who just shines with confidence and positivity? That’s Phil Woods for you. She’s a carefree singer/songwriter with fabulous purple hair who has spent years exploring life in her beloved bus. Now, she’s finally settling down in the cozy little town of Silence, Washington, and it seems like the perfect spot for a fresh start away from the hustle and bustle of her past. But not all is safe in her new digs.
Phil’s enthusiasm for life is truly contagious! She brings such a joyful vibe that stands in stark contrast to her neighbor, Brant Colter. Brant’s a bit grumpy and set in his ways, thanks to his days as a retired sheriff. But don’t let that tough exterior fool you, he has a soft heart, especially when it comes to caring for his rescue goat, Angus. And let me tell you, Angus is full of personality! This little troublemaker loves to escape and has even taken a nibble out of Phil’s laundry.
What I love most about this story is how it celebrates life at a certain age, highlighting the importance of finding your own happiness, and I can’t help but laugh at Phil’s outdoor skills like fly fishing and unapologetically getting caught making out with Brant in his truck—poor guy won’t hear the end of that! LOL.
Freya Barker’s novels always pack in a bit of drama and excitement, and this one is no exception. With danger lurking, you can bet Brant will rise to the occasion and save the day.
Overall, I enjoyed this short romantic suspense story filled with twists and turns, laughter, and captivating characters. I look forward to reading more books in this series.
Thank you to Ms. Barker for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.

What a fabulous romantic suspense story! The storyline is simple in its intent, and that’s why it’s so good—it works. I was hooked straight away by the interesting characters, who were described so clearly.
Phil is the sunshine to Brant’s grumpiness, and they have amazing chemistry. At that midlife stage where they have both had lots of different experiences in life, they now complement each other. Honestly, Phil is such a happy woman; she is infectious, and Brant certainly becomes infected!
The suspense element makes you ponder hard about the perpetrator and the reason behind everything.
Another terrific story by this very talented author.
Freya Barker is hands down one of my top favorite authors. Although shorter than her usual books, this one is still every bit as exciting and entertaining.
Sheriff Brant Colter’s recent heart attack forced him into an early retirement he wasn’t prepared for. When he first meets a suspicious woman on his daughter’s property he immediately jumps to all the wrong conclusions, but who could blame him. It isn’t like he’s had opportunity to hone his social skills lately.
Phyllis ‘Phil’ Dubois left her performing days behind her when she packed up her old RV and moved to the small, quiet town of Silence, WA. After twelve years with her band she needed to find some quiet in her life and she thought for sure she had found it. Definitely meeting the retired sheriff from down the road was proving interesting.
But not everyone is happy Phil has left her career behind her and when concerning events begin happening it’s her gruffy neighbor that comes to the rescue.
I was gifted a copy of this book and freely offer this review.
after being in the spotlight as a performer and songwriter all Phil wants is a place to be just herself and Silence is the perfect place and after buying the ideal home all is great ..until a grumpy ex sheriff who happens to be her new neighbour makes himself known along with his underwear eating goat Angus, Brant is trying to come to terms with being retired early due to a heart attack and looking for something to do but is finding it tough that is until he comes face to face with his new neighbour with her old school bus and purple tipped hair, when he discovers her love of fishing and no nonsense attitude he begins to warm to her and it's not long before feelings start to develop but just when he thinks things are going well Phil's life is put in danger and although Brants daughter is now the sheriff he takes on the role of protector , there are twist and turns and laugh out loud moments and a story that will have you page turning until the end another great read from this author.
Finding Silence by Freya Barker is a perfect opening to her new series that takes place in a small town of Silence, in the middle of nowhere, Washington state, USA. It is a quick read so do not be afraid to pick it up if you love small town stories with colorful characters. In addition the main couple is a mature couple which is another plus in my book as there are not very many authors writing about mature characters … when you hit the second half of the century, it is no fun to try to relate to some twenty or thirty something characters that are just starting to figure life out … Freya is a master of writing characters that sweep you off your feet into their universe that is filled with emotion, ups and downs, romance, chemistry … something that most of us long for so it is great to be able to live along them on the pages of a book! Phil (Phyllis) and Brent do not let you down! Throw in some murdering intent and you have a book that leaves you longing for more! Cannot wait for the next one and to return to Silence!
Heading in to a new release from author extraordinary of the adults with life experience romantic suspense. Freya Barker brings to life romance of adults that have lived some life and have something more to give. I absolutely love her blend of romance with hints of suspense, and this first book in her new series is a fantastic start! It features adults that have lived life, bringing a richness to their story.
With this release we meet Phil and Brant. Both are in the same small town one a but out loud and the other a little low-key. There was a little something that brings them both together. The characters are wonderfully relatable, and neither Phil nor Brant disappointed! They are both drawn together in the same small town, yet for entirely different reasons. Their dynamic is captivating, with one being a bit more out loud and the other wonderfully low-key, creating a fantastic balance. This book was a quick, engrossing read—perfect for a one-sitting escape. The story was truly entertaining from beginning to end, and I was happy with where they left off.
Finding Silence was not a long drawn out romance. It was a one-sitting read with a beginning with an ending that made you happy. Neither of out leading people disappointed you.
Reasons I enjoyed this book: Entertaining Wonderful characters Favorite Author Under 200 pages
Finding Silence is the perfect intro to Freya Barker's new Silence series! Even though this book is a long novella, it still packs that Freya punch with all the suspense and twists I've come to expect from reading her books!
I LOVE quirky, sunshiney Phil (Phyllis) and grumpy, with a heart of gold, former sheriff Brant. I laughed so hard at their adorable meet cute and things between them progressed quickly (with the assistance of an escape artist goat!) Once Brant discovers that his assumptions about Phil are completely off base, the attraction he felt from the get-go has free reign......and reign it does!!!! Just as things are settling down in Silence, the drama and suspense surrounding Phil ramps up! I did NOT see it coming, AT ALL and the conclusion was even MORE satisfying because of it!
Once again, Ms. Barker has written a story that will stay with me for a good while and I can't wait for the rest of the books in this series! Bring them on!!!
This new series takes the readers to Silence, Washington, a small town where Phyllis/Phil Dubois, has decided to set roots after her years of performing. It’s the perfect quiet place to enjoy life . But her new neighbor, former Sheriff Brant Colter, is not happy about the blue haired woman who will likely disturb his peaceful life. Little did he know that she would not only truly disturb his life but also bring him lots of joy and challenges. But things are not going smoothly as threats and destruction are surrounding Phil. Is it really a former band member that can’t no as an answer, or is it something more sinister? This reader has come to love the work by this author. She offers mature characters that are perfect in their imperfections while showing us that love is possible at any age. Looking forward to the next story in the series.

Another terrific story by this very talented author.
This is the first in a new series, and this is Phyllis / Phil and Brant’s story. Phil is under pressure to return to the stage, and she packs her things and hits the road for a road trip in her RV, looking for somewhere she can find solace, and thinks she has found it in small town Silence. Brant is the former sheriff, who is coming to terms with his early retirement due to health issues. When Phil moves down the street from Brant, he is convinces that she is trouble, but they complement each other perfectly. This is a well written action-packed story, with danger, intrigue, suspense, romance, grumpy / sunshine, opposites attract, trust, humour, witty banter, undeniable chemistry, and love, which leads to an entertaining, and unpredictable small-town romance. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
As always, Ms Barker delivers a well written story peopled with believable, and relatable characters. Phyllis DuBois, aka Phil, is a well known musician who literally ran away from a life that was no longer serving her. Brant is the medically retired sheriff still grappling with an enforcement retirement and a life a loose ends. When the hippie looking Phil moves in next door to staid grumpy Brant the sparks fly, in more ways than one. I love that her characters are "seasoned", and have some life experience. It becomes evident in the story that someone is not happy with Phil's life decisions and is determined to do something about it. Things start "happening" and Phil's life is in danger. Thank goodness she has Brant. This was a nice read on a lazy day. I'm looking forward to more from Silence.
The opening to this one was great! I loved how excited Phil was to find her "place". She kept stunning the realtor with her answers and how fast she wanted to move on things. And when Phil got access to her new place it was full speed ahead with her getting it set up and settling in.
Phil's first couple of interactions with her new neighbor weren't the best, not her fault, he was just a grumpy guy and a bit stunned at was going on, which was understandable once you knew who all the players were and what he had been through. Quickly though, Brant was smitten with Phil and they had a thing going. That was a good thing because Phil needed the support as people from her past were determined to harm her. It got a bit crazy there, until the whole thing was out in the open. A bit stunning at the who and why. But at least Phil had Brant and others in her new town to have her back.
Thoroughly enjoyed this book. The characters were perfect, salty and sweet describes them best. I loved Phil, she was unapologetically herself. She wasn't a silly lady, and was clever enough to take advice when needed, but otherwise she was strong, determined and pretty self sufficient. Brant was a cool character, a little hard headed at first, but he comes around!! The other characters in the book are all perfectly placed and fit into the storyline seamlessly. Now onto the storyline, I loved the build up, the plot twists and the explosive reveal. Nothing felt rushed or forced, the pace of the story was perfect and develops organically. As with all books from this author she takes a storyline and really makes you feel like you are living it with the characters. Overall a fantastic read and would highly recommend.
When Phyllis aka Phil moves to the small town of Silence, her first encounter with her neighbour, Brant, the town’s retired Sherrif, is not so great. The grumpy Brant can’t figure Phil out, she’s all smiles and has flair, the opposite of him. There next few encounters has Brant intrigued and not minding spending time with her, especially when he learns they share a common interest. But all is not great, someone wants to harm Phil, breaking in and destroying her home and another close call has Brant going into protective mode. He has already lost his first love and now his second chance at love is at risk. A great short read that packs a punch and doesn’t skip a beat, amazing characters, suspense, steam and a few laughs had me flipping the pages and wishing their story wouldn’t end. *I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*
I have yet to find a book written by Freya Barker that I did not like. Once again she has created relatable characters that you can't help but fall in love with. Brant has retirement forced upon him after a heart health issue and is becoming set in his grumpy ways. When purple haired Phil moves in next door, she is an unknown quantity that he would rather do without. After walking away from the music industry, she impulsively decides to settle down in the small town of Silence and the peacefulness she finds there. However, her past has found her and brings danger with it. It wasn't really a mystery of who is pulling the strings, but it is a fantastic ride to get to the ending because of the wonderful characters.
Phyllis (Phil) Dubois, was a famous singer in a band and that's not her life anymore. She trying to move away from ex-band members, a stalker and to make a new start. She's still the purple haired hippie but is looking for some Silence in a different way. Her new neighbor Brant Colter, former sheriff who is not liking his forced retirement after triple bypass surgery also doesn't like the trouble his new neighbor is bringing to Silence. Brant has an escape goat that is costing him some money in replacing some fancy underwear. This is a bit of opposites attract, grumpy to sunshine and hilarious yet suspenseful moments. You won't believe who the stalker is and it's a twist I didn't see coming.
Freya Barker is my favourite author and this book, although shorter than her usual books, does not disappoint. We meet our 2 main characters and their differences are only too apparent. Phyllis Dubois packed up and left her home wanting a quiet life after leaving her performing life of 12 years behind. She meets her new neighbour Brant Colter, an ex Sheriff having previously suffered a severe heart attack and had to retire. Both are very wary of each other, forming opinions and rubbing each other up the wrong way until……. And that’s where I recommend you read this book. There’s excitement, danger, unexpected twists, great storyline and characters and the potential for more books in this series. Definitely recommend.
