Beautiful Chaos

Rate this book
Chaos is not pretty it is like feeling a hundred things, hearing a hundred voices, and somewhere in the riot we tend to lose ourselves and lose direction in our heads. This book is the truth, it is everything we have been feeling and running away from for so long.

I'm a huge fan of RM. Drake, I've been following him on Instagram for a long time and thought that it was about time that I owned some of his work in print.

There were some really beautiful poems in there. One of my favorites was this:

One day you'll make peace with your demons,
and the chaos in your heart will settle flat.
and maybe for the first time in your life,
life will smile right back at you and welcome you home.

I have to admit though the book was way too pricey for such a small content with an uninspired cover. I finished in what, 30? 40 minutes?

She had a little rebel in her, a little chaos and a little gentleness. She did not say much and sometimes she would doze off. She would drift away, dream with the stars and that was ok. She had a little fight in her and every time she built enough courage her voice would echo through the sky. She was not complete but she was enough. There was a science to her genius, her madness, her beauty and there was nothing she could not accomplish. She was unstoppable and everything she ever wanted she took, with nothing but a smile.

I haven't read any poetry books by this author. This collection is good. I've tabbed a few that really gave me feels but some of the poems are underwhelming and ordinary. I'm looking forward to read more of this poet. I guess this isn't his best collection.

The poem that stood out for me:

"One day you will make peace with your
demons and the chaos in your heart will
settle flat. And maybe for the first time,
in your life, life will smile right back at
you and welcome you home."

This is perhaps one of the worst books of poetry I have ever read. The poems are strung carelessly together with extravagant words that lack meaning entirely. The author focused all of his attention on creating beautiful sentences but failed to include any real meaning of significance. The words, however lovely, are empty, and carry none of the weight they are intended to. Each poem was loaded with agonizing cliches and seem as if they were written by a junior high student feigning more maturity then they possess. It was as if the author was a child trying to cram a puzzle piece into the wrong hole, desperately attempting to write with passionate, intoxicating words that were absolutely original, torturously inviting and yet coolly aloof, and yet failing to be significant. I recommend this book to no one. Unfortunate though it may be, the book was a complete waste of money.

The words and the passion behind them... so igniting, inspiring, insightful.

"If we move too fast, we will break things.
If we move too slow, we will miss things.
And if we do not move at all, we will not see things for how beautiful they truly are."

Colour me surprised.

I've stumbled on Drake's work from time to time. Posted on a friend's Instagram. Shared on a tumblr post. And every time I've read the little blurb with his name scrawled under it, I've felt a connection. So, naturally, when I saw it at the local bookstore, bright and beautiful and not overly expensive, I had to have it. I brought it home, curled up, got ready to earmark the shit out of this book with favourites, and....

Nope. Not a single page was bent.

Not. One.

What happened? Where did all the feels go? Where were all those brief little poems that made me feel? Gone, apparently, because this book had no heart behind it. Sure, the sentences are pretty enough, but that's all they are. Pretty fluff. Most of them sound like the work of someone who has given up. A gift card writer that can't be bothered with emotion so barely scrapes the top of what the poems could be. Honestly, I felt like I was just reading a random scramble of sentences most of the time. So disappointing.

"One day you will make peace with your demons and the chaos in your heart will settle flat. And maybe for the first time in your life, life will smile right back at you and welcome you home."

This is closer to the kind of poetry I want.

I started the year in search of the perfect poetry author for me. I read a couple works already, and sadly, I haven't found exactly what I'm looking for, but this is a step closer for sure.

I love very lyrical and melodic poetry -I suppose you could call it classic poetry- poetry that can touch every fiber of my soul, that can make me feel goosebumps, and though, yes, this was not exactly the melodic, lyrical kinda that I'm craving it did make feel goosebumps at times.

"Sometimes you have to shatter the mirror in you, to see all that makes you beautiful."

"We are beautiful things, wild things, searching for the brilliance within us."

Was it the choice of topic that did it to me? Maybe.

Love, Dreams and how to value and see yourself are some of the topics that the author talks about. Since personal image, if something that was a deep struggle to me it speaks to my soul in a very deep way. I could recognize and see myself in these words and encourage myself to continue ahead.

"Conquer the demons in you before letting the demons in others conquer you."

"Stop looking for something when something has already found you. You have been living with your eyes closed. Awaken, it’s there. Take it. It’s yours.

Go ahead, love and embrace yourself. Be brave and bold, take your happiness in your own hands.

"Be authentic to yourself, but if you must cheat, cheat yourself out of the lies the world created."

These are just some of the many beautiful poems offered to us in this book. I'll say that everyone should read it.

“And loving you was a pattern of self-discovery because some way, somehow I always ended up learning something new about myself.”

“Dear God, I am not like you. I am weak, my bones brittle, my heart filled with darkness and at times my demons crawl out from the walls you helped me build. I am just an extension of your brilliance but what would it be like to be a wave in the ocean of you. I am lost in your shine and I drown in your touch. So maybe I have ignored you lately but this is me reminding you that I, too, suffer and I, too, seek the beauty in humanity. So hear me, you are not alone.”

“Maybe tomorrow that goodbye will lead to a new hello, and maybe this time you will fuel the fire in her heart and make her stay.”

“I broke myself beautiful when I left you; it was saving me from myself.”

“One day someone will inspire you and a love will chalk over your walls and the sun will love you and follow you. You will walk in sunshine. And you, too, will inspire and continue to be inspired and you will never destroy these moments where you and the light meet. You will never end.”

Mesmerizingly beautiful.

This was okay. The writing was solid. There were lots of beautiful poems but not as many spoke to me as I would have liked them to. Not the best collection and not the worst.

This is the kind of book I badly and desperately need in times of darkness; when things are confusing and nothing is going right. If there's something this book taught me it is that we shouldn't be afraid to do what we want, no matter the consequences, no matter the pain that comes after. That, I am still learning to do. Will definitely read more of Drake's works. I'm in love.

Vapid, cliche, unoriginal, self-indulgent. Who keeps publishing these ‘books’?

Lo ame con toda mi alma ! Me llego a lo más profundo de mi seer ❤️ les dejo algunas de mis citas favoritas:
1. Because sometimes
The most beautiful things
Begin in chaos.
Crash and burn.
2. Live in the moment, all else means nothing.
3.You are marvelous.
You are brilliant.
You are more than what I expect you to be.
Be something out of this world.
4.Fight for the people you love.
So goodbyes will not end in the burning sunset.
5.I am more fire than water.
I am more light than dark.
More soul.
More pain.
More blood.
What I am trying to say is:
Maybe I love too much and maybe I show to little.
6.The world is filled with broken people with broken lives searching for a broken love.
And that is why being alone has never felt so good.
7.I need you to understand that hate is heavy so let it go.
8. Thank you lover for showing me how bad things can get.
Because of you, nothing worries me.
All else is nothing.
9. I need you.
I need your soul, your art, your madness, I need it all.
I now understand why people fall in love.
10. There is almost no time for anything anymore.
Find the seconds to tell someone you love them.
They might be gone the next time you say their name.
11. One day, you will make peace with your demons, and the chaos in your heart will settle flat. And maybe for the first time in your life ...
Life will smile right back at you and welcome you, home.
12. Why people die
Tell me what it is all worth? All this pain. All this love. Are these even real?
Some say we all die three times during our lifetime.
One: when you lose a good friend.
It is always the good ones who died young.
Two: when you let go of bad habits.
It is always the bad ones that kill us a little more.
Three: when you meet the love of your life for the very first time.
And I have been dying ever since I was born, but if loving you kills me tonight, then I will waiting for death until you say hello.
13. The pain has let me fully bloom into the joys of life.
The pain is what makes this human experience special.

“Look deeper through the telescope
and do not be afraid when the stars
collide towards the darkness,
because sometimes the most beautiful
things begin in chaos.”

What an utterly emotional, heart-warming, beautiful, gorgeous book. Like the title suggests, "Beautiful Chaos" is a collection of poetry that focuses on giving young people the meaning of ourselves and our lives. It is about our search for the brilliance inside each of us, about finding love and being changed by that love, about understanding our own selves and finding a place where we truly belong.

“And loving you was a pattern of self-discovery because some way, somehow I always ended up learning something new about myself.”

“We are beautiful things, wild things, searching for the brilliance within us.”

“Maybe all the broken dreams and empty promises the world offered are just reflections of what is within us. Maybe one day we will learn to accept ourselves for all the faults sleeping beneath the footprints we leave behind.”

All the words are woven magically to create sets of magnificent poems that make me shudder. Some even brought tears to my eyes and goosebumps to my skin. This book is perfect for all of us, especially those who are not comfortable in their own skin, who are searching futilely for something out there, something meaningful to them but don't realize that that something is right there, all the time, and that everything is perfectly beautiful the way it's meant to be.

"She went on and became human, too human. She alone accepted all of her faults and in the end she was good, enough to keep her smile on permanently."

“Stop looking for something when something has already found you. You have been living with your eyes closed. Awaken, it’s there. Take it, it’s yours.”

After all, magical entity like the Earth was created from chaos, and so are us humans. We are all beautiful chaos, and we just need to embrace it. Read this book for yourself, find your own interpretation and immerse in its wondrous feelings.

Not my cuppa. There where a few expressions here and there I enjoyed but overall I found the language not lyrical enough for my liking and the meanings too wide open in plain side. It had a very uplifting "your luck aka love waits just around the corner, just hold on"-tone to many of the poems which is really not for me.
I did fancy the combination of poem and picture/ photograph art though, nothing special but neat.

"Fools Rush", "It's Late", "She Part 2" and "Demons" were the four pieces I genuinely took something away from. The rest was mere noise to me.

Here my favorite lines from "Demons":

To conquer the demons in you
before letting
the demons in others
conquer you.

There is no other way
to survive or to die,
that is, to go on
by the hand of your own darkness.

It was quite short so I finished it in one setting. Seemingly, his writing style is fine or rather solid. But that is not enough according to me.. Yes he tackled some problematic things happening in the society specifically to youth. Like heart break BUT in a monotonous way.
There were some good, worth reading poems but it was SOULESS to me.
It is disappointing.

Poems didn't really speak to me. Had to force myself to finish this book. Poems were quite monotonous and sounded like hallmark quotes and very cliche :/

"You are only as free as you think you are and freedom will always be as real as you believe it to be."

Absolutely in love of this book! Every set has been written with so much passion and positivity. If you're looking for a book to calm your spirit down and even cheer yourself up, this one is for you. Even though some selections are God-centered (hello, catholics) the main point about seeing the beauty in every ups and downs are still emphasized.

Devour.

Devour me with the rawness; shred me
down to the end of me. Grab me, bite
me, destroy me and never fade so sweetly
into the dark. Swallow me with aggressive
gulps, twist me, crush me, break me
down and expose my darkness to the
twinkles which remain beneath the black
above us. And when it is all over I will
still crave you for all that you are.

I heard about this author through my favorite make-up artist YouTuber, Carli Bybel, and hoped I would love his writing since she raved about it. Maybe it's his later works she raved about. Anyway, this definitely wasn't a favorite read for me. Probably a 2.5-3 stars for me

There were some poems that really seemed applicable to me, or like advice I needed to hear, particularly the one entitled Mirrors. I loved that one! And of course copied it down to re-visit when I wish. And there were a handful of others I really liked.

But overall, this collection of poems just wasn't for me. I'll definitely try more of his works and see if I can find some more that I like ^_^ But for now, I'll leave you with this little excerpt to give a taste of his writing:

Falling Free
I want us to fall
in love like drops of rain 💞
not these small passing showers ☔
I need wind 🍃
I need lightning ⚡
I need trees blown off their roots 🌳

I LOVE some of RM Drake’s work.. but this book didn’t do it for me. I only liked about 3-4 pieces in the book. Made me kind of sad. But here is my favorite:

“One day you will make peace with your demons & the chaos in your heart will settle flat. And maybe for the first time in your life, life will smile right back at you and welcome you home.”💖

I can relate, and hope to see that day soon. ❤️

I was a bit disappointed with this book. Unfortunately for me, I just didn't feel for his style of poetry. Now, the thing about poetry is that you are going to love and connect with some stuff and not with others. That's how poetry goes.

I mean, there were probably 5 poems that I thought were amazing in the whole book. When they were good, they were brilliant but when they were bad, they were a snooze fest.

I just found his poetry and style a little forced and pretentious at times. I just kept feeling like rolling my eyes. And I feel bad for saying that but it is what it is.

I finished the book. It was a quick read but felt heavy because I didn't enjoy most of it.

Give it a try anyways, you might like his style more than I did.
