Finding Small One

Rate this book
In life, we need to find ourselves and what is important to us, just as much as we need to let others find out who we are. This book gently guides young readers to discover who the main character is before surprising them with the real identity of Small One at the end. Educators may use this as an amusing and entertaining aid in discussing issues of self identity and values with young learners. This book includes a page at the end specifically for educators.

I publish books in languages I don't speak so children can read books in languages they do speak!

Legends have always fascinated me. Do they give your children a sense of wonder too?

As an Australian poet, it's hard to find work in the Outback. But there are children all over the world struggling to learn how to read. Some of them have hardly any books in their native language.

That's why I created the Bilingual Legends series – to give as many children as possible the opportunity to read a story in their own native language. Usually, each book in the series is published in the language spoken in the land where that story originates. A typical book also includes the text in English, but in some cases Spanish, Portuguese, German, or another language is used instead.

I hope you enjoy reading my books!

A sweet way to help children think about who they are and what makes them special. I liked how the story kept me curious about Small One’s real identity until the end. The surprise made the book more interesting, while the message felt simple and meaningful. I can see this being a fun read-aloud for young children, especially when talking about identity, values, and understanding others.

What a thought-provoking book! It’s one of those stories where you don’t really know who the main character is or where it’s going at first. I was confused when I read it, so I had to go back and re-read, but it all clicks in the end. The artwork is really lovely, though I think the text could be a bit bigger.

The main character is shrouded in mystery throughout the book and finally revealed at the end. I'm sure children will love that surprise ending! The illustrations have a rough but charming quality, and there's a thread of community kindness that runs through the story which is quite heartwarming.
