A century ago, the general chosen to lead the armies of the Nerian Alliance against their shared enemies deposed the allied kings he served.
With loyal soldiers behind him, the general conquered their three kingdoms in the name of unity and strength.
Now, the vast swathe of land that was the Alliance is known simply as Neria. The old borders and the old ways are forgotten— by most.

This is the story of a princess called Sasha and a rebel named Andrea, neither of whom are as righteous as they think they are.
It is the story of Will, an ambitious amateur spy, and Gabrielle, the equally ambitious youngest princess, who are not as smart as they think they are.
This is Gregory’s story, about a shy young mountain lad who is not as useless as he thinks, who is not as harmless as he thinks.
princesses taking on assassins and training themselves in fighting and spying! SIGN ME THE HECK UP!!! this is such a fabulous story! a great start from an author who's other stories in the Harry Potter world particularly have moved me to tears more than once. this is the stuff!!
Decent story, though you can tell it's an earlier work by this author. Not quite as tight and polished as the Leagues and Legends series, but Sasha, Will, Gabrielle, Elijah (and Nate), and Gregory are all characters I can root for.
They're working together to unearth a plot to overthrow the current regime, and it involves swordfighting and codes and secret passages.
And a young, genius bookworm whose name starts with a G. I hope there's a character fitting this description in every series by this author.
I did not actually read this book. I read the interactive fiction “Stay?”, which is by the same author, and I wanted it to count for my challenge. It was quite good! Here’s a link: https://ejadelomax.itch.io/stay
(you can find a free copy at the author's website fyi)
perfect if you're in the mood for court intrigue and political machination. typically fantasy in the sense of a large cast of characters, but the plot in this book is largely restricted to one castle and so it's more lowkey than the usual high fantasy series. very much in the style of elizabeth c. bunce or sherwood smith's fantasy series'.
check it out if you're into lots of varied lady characters, spy shenanigans, loyal guard/princess dynamics, and SECRET TUNNELS. :D
Let me just preface this by saying that if you haven't read this author yet, you should. This work is, I believe her earlier series. For me, it had a few bumps at the beginning where it didn't read quite as smoothly as her later leagues and legends series, but by the middle of the book things are in full swing. Character as usual are impeccably written. Love. Just love
An author I found through tumblr has nonetheless amazed me. I loved this series from start to finish. Her characters are wonderful and varied. The plot is suspenseful and the moral is just complicated enough to be worth it. Can't wait to read more by her.
