The book about chickens is an excellent guide to starting out, with things you need to think about plan and implement before you buy any chickens and even what to get and why. It is an American book, so it does have some points that are more relevant to the systems they have there (like their weird HOA) however it is a strong guide that is interesting. The container garden is a very interesting guide as well, it covers flowers, herbs, vegetables and all the different options, how to ensure it works for you, whether you only have a small area like a wall, because you can put lots of plant pots in rows up the wall and how to make sure you can water and care for them, what kind of problems you might encounter like the wrong soil, bugs, how to combine things to make the most of the pot and even how to design an area and use indoor areas as well. A very handy guide for the beginner. You can have a bit of everything if you want, and you don't need outdoor space. good guide to growing and also to chickens if you do have a bit of garden space. You can make use of a concrete patio even with this guide.
