Antik Yunan kent-devletlerinin adı olan polis, Batı siyasal düşüncesinde, devletin izlediği tarihsel yolculuğun en mükemmel başlangıç noktası sayılmıştır. 1789 Fransız Devrimi ise, varlığını kendisinden önceki birçok gelişmeye borçlu olmakla birlikte, "eski dünyanın" artık tümüyle tarihe karıştığını, yepyeni bir dünyayı, "burjuva dünyasını" haber veren kırılma noktasını işaretlemek için üzerinde uzlaşılan simgeye dönüşmüştür. Elinizdeki kitap bu nedenle Antik Yunan'la başlayıp Fransız Devrimi'yle kapanmaktadır. Modern siyasal düşüncenin arkaik (eskil) ama eskimeyen köklerine bir yolculuk ya da bir geri dönüş... Türkiye'de genel olarak siyaset bilimi, özel olarak siyasal teori, siyaset felsefesi ve siyasal düşünce tarihi alanında en köklü eğitim kurumu olan Ankara Üniversitesi Siyasal Bilgiler Fakültesi'nin deneyimli isimleriyle genç kuşak akademisyenlerinin ortak ürünü olan bu çalışma, üniversite lisans öğrencileri için bir kaynak kitap olmasının yanında, siyasal düşüncenin serüvenini izlemek isteyen bütün okurlara keyifli bir yolculuk imkânı sunuyor.

About the author

After Saint Joseph Boys High School, he graduated from the Institut de l'Etude Politique in Strasbourg (1973). He started his postgraduate studies at the Sorbonne University in Paris in the same year.

Ağaoğulları, who received his Doctorat d'Etat (state doctorate) degree at the same institution in 1979, became an associate professor in the field of political theory in 1987 and a professor in 1993. Starting in 1980, he taught "History of Political Thought" at the Faculty of Political Sciences of Ankara University and retired in April 2017. The retirement ceremony planned for him was prevented by the rector and the ceremony was held at the Mülkiyeliler Union instead of the faculty.
