The bond between humans and dogs is more intense than our bond with any other species―there’s not even a close second. Dogs are more than just a pet; they are trusted companions. They help us hunt, guard our homes, look after our livestock and even our children and, over time, do so many useful and wonderful things that it boggles the mind.
This compilation of heart-warming dog stories illustrates the pure love of these amazing creatures, including extraordinary instances and first-hand accounts of bravery, friendship, loyalty, devotion and companionship down to their very last breath.
There’s a reason we call them man’s best friend. No matter the situation, your dog is happy to see you. You are greeted with the same enthusiasm each and every time you walk in that door. A dog has the ability to live in the present moment. They don’t regret the past or worry about the future.
While we often ask so much of them, they require almost nothing in return. You can ask your dog to chase a Frisbee, take a nap on the couch, herd some sheep, or run around a show ring and he’ll do it, happily, for hours on end. He only wants to be fed, and told he’s good, and most of all loved. If a dog has love, he really needs nothing else.
In the presence of a dog, somehow, nothing else matters. A dog is handing out pure love, sparing no expense, and asking absolutely nothing in return. Perhaps American Humorist Josh Billings said it best: “A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself.”
This was recommended to me on Kindle Unlimited, so I decided to give it a go. Honestly, the kindle edition is patchy and in parts poorly written. One of the stories (the rottweiler pulling his disabled owner from a burning van) is actually in there twice. There are a few spelling mistakes as well. Still though, even though I've read almost every one of these stories before, I love true dog stories so it was no hardship to read them again. Also, it was part of my membership on a program that is a decent price, so there is that too. Three stars.
This book was such and amazing book how you can build such a bond with your special friend and dog,I would recommend this book to all the dog lovers out there great book and awesome author for writing such a great book I look forward to all your books, thanks.
I so enjoyed this book but it had me in tears. I have always had a dog or a cat and know the love and care they show their humans. Ready to read more beautiful stories like these
Heart-Warming Stories of the Loyalty of Dogs What a neat collection of dog stories. This includes famous stories like Greyfriar's Bobby as well as lesser know stories like the 2 Seeing Eye dogs that led their men to safety from the Towers on 9/11. Most of the stories are just about good dogs doing what they're supposed to do – saving their best friends from harm. My only issue with this book is that there actually is a duplicate story! Go figure! I bought this book and this is my honest review.
One can never read enough stories praising the love a dog has for his or her human pet. I had read some of the stories contained in this book - but I am a sucker for any book cover with a dog and love on it.
Heartwarming short stories of heroic acts, unconditional love & loyalty unwavering. Animals (dogs in this case) are truly Gods finest creatures and love us no matter what. This book is a quick read and delightful.
It was a nice book to read that didn't require lots of heavy thinking, processing or remembering. Just enjoyable to read a few stories of some great dogs.
True stories of the love and devotion dogs show for their owners . This is a feel good book about the relationships people have with their dogs and the lengths the family dog will go to protect, save or find their owners. Very nice read!
To me all dogs are special, they might not be experts or pedigree but in their own way are special. This book shows this in many ways. One thing tho, they will love you if you love and treat them kindly.
This book is a compilation of several short dog stories by various authors. Though I have read some of them before, if you’re a dog lover they are always a good read.
I listen to books in my car while traveling for work. The first two stories made me cry so much, I had to stop reading. I finally tried it again and didn't cry, but I wasn't sure if I would be able to finish the book. Some of the stories s seemed to be repeated.
I was familiar with some of the stories included in this book of short stories. Others I hadn't heard before. All demonstrated the close bond our canine companions often form with their humans.
This was a book with a number of dog stories within it. It showed what a blessing dogs are to man. Many touching and beautiful stories that you'll remember forever. I would highly recommend it!
Portraits of dogs and there owners throughout history demonstrates how deeply and unselfish true love can be. It was and is a powerful statement of what love and devotion can and should be.
Enjoyed reading about out furry friends, have read a few of them before. Dogs continue to amaze us! Dogs love us so much and ask for so little in return
This book is a compilation of different dog stories, but do so at your own risk! You will need a strong cup of coffee and a large box of tissues to read it!
I thought this was a book at first. Then started reading and realized it was a combination of many short stories and memories of people's amazing interaction with there dogs. At first I want sure about reading one after another short bits & articles. But once you get into it, you find yourself wanting & wondering what the next pages would bring. I like a good book, but this was a wonderful, inspirational good read to pick up and be very happy you decided to give it a try. Thank you for putting this out there. I have a yellow lab now 7 (2015) that has & is by my side always. He became my support & service dog out of a unfortunate situation. He never received professional training to any great degree. But has manage to help me from getting off the for after many of falls & and being by my side with to help with anything that arises. Don't know how he knows but he does. The last 7 years of my 11 year ago accident has changed my life forever having him by me. All he asks is food, water & as many tennis balls as possible. Thank you for letting people know that some of the most unusual & unexplained situations happen from the love of our loving pet's.
The stories in this book are great, I was sorry when this book was over. I wanted to keep reading more. Dogs are just the best, a loyal friend, a protector, a constant companion, a loving shadow. I lost my little Miss Abby five years ago. It broke my heart. Some things in this book reminded me of the words I wrote in my own writing in trying to come to grips with my intense grief after she died. Every story in here is about an amazing dog. They are indeed man's best friend.
This book's stories only serve to confirm in the title of this review. If a dog gives you his heart, there is no greater friend to have. Only a dog would prefer his master's company sleeping in the out of doors to a comfortable bed. Only a Dog would risk his life without thinking of the consequences if his master is in trouble. Only a dog, whose name spelled backwards spells God.
