Enjoyable

I truly enjoyed this. The characters were great. I especially loved Nate’s development. I wouldn’t mind a book 2 to kind of tie up loose ends with the main protagonist and possibly a newly created family from the two main characters. However, this did not end in a cliffhanger and ended well.

I really enjoyed this story. The healing and how the MC’s grow together was well written IMO. It was well paced and had enough going on that kept me interested but didn’t overwhelm me.

2.5/5 🌶️

This story was kind of an internal journey, a mental journey, kind of.

There were some things that didn’t quite add up for me. The MMC is portrayed as an experienced investigator and a skilled tracker, so it felt a bit inconsistent that he couldn’t uncover what had happened to his family—especially when the FMC was able to in a short period of time. Maybe it was intentional, maybe he wanted that emotional shield. He kept saying he was “abandoned” and that the world owed him. That could’ve been part of his self-narrative. I just wish that was a little bit more impactful—like, imagine going back to the place where your whole trauma started, how would you react?... Or when he realized he actually longed to be in a community. I think those scenes needed more of a spotlight.

You know, because

Especially since our MMC was like

You know he needed some

On the other hand, the FMC had these frozen spells and that thing where she just didn’t react to situations—even though they were really traumatizing and out of this world, no matter her childhood.

Not to mention, the whole thing with the MCs brushing a little too close to cheating. Well, not technically, since her boyfriend was kind of crazy and she broke up with him before anything happened. But still, the MMC didn’t know that, yet still seduced her with the whole “my body betrays me” thing and... dunno. I cringed.

Also, there were definitely some convenient plot points. It leaned on the “power of the plot” a bit too much, and while things escalated, the story never fully hit. It just kind of simmered in angst. I wasn’t particularly impacted or swooning by the end. Honestly, it dragged a little—maybe it was a bit too long—and some parts came off a bit “boomer-ish” or borderline canceled-these-days, to be honest.

There were some minor things that were just weird, like overdescribing the FMC as some tough girl ’cause she thought yoga was dumb and acted like doing MMA made her hardcore?

Now, being real about it, apart from that, the story didn’t have huge flaws, since these things I described are mostly pet peeves of mine. I did appreciate the other side—the portrayal of flawed characters. They had genuine insecurities and didn’t magically overcome them overnight. And that made them feel more human. It took the weight off the “oh, they should be reacting this way” kind of thinking I was having. There were parts that felt a little bit caricaturesque, but still—it made sense.

People are just people.

So, it was an okay read. Not bad, just not something that left a strong impression.

Human journalists Cameron is being targeted by a psycho feral shifter who has gone on a spree in Toronto and dropped into a paranormal world that she knows nothing about. She broke up with her rich boyfriend but he just won’t take the hint and causes her additional drama as he becomes obsessive/stalker that just won’t stop coming at her. Cameron can hold her own with her fierce and independence attitude and doesn’t go down easily but sometimes you need someone in your corner to back you up when it gets to be too much.

When random women start being attacked and murdered, rumors start to go around that there is a serial killer on the loose. Fearing that it’s a feral wolf, the local pack alpha has one of the guys in the police force call in a rogue lone wolf named Nate who is a PI that is good at tracking and solving problems both quickly and quietly so as to not draw attention to their kind. Since he doesn’t have a pack, Nate typically keeps to himself, does his job and gets on his motorcycle to head out to the next job as soon as possible but this one has him sticking around as Cameron not only intrigues him but also his wolf and she doesn’t have anyone looking out for her. She is very smart, feisty, beautiful and in danger so both he and his wolf feel that urge to protect her.

This book was a beast at 700+ pages but I couldn’t put it down and read it cover to cover over a day and a half as the author really gave a lot of details for everything from pack life/politics, the police red tape/private investigator work arounds, the investigative journalist/newspaper field and even with the romantic scenes as they evolve. The suspense throughout the book was fantastic as I could envision the characters looking over their shoulder to see if they were safe. And the chemistry between Cameron and Nate really hit the hot level when they finally gave into their attraction but they are both a little damaged from their upbringings and do fumble around with their feelings and intentions. It was great to see both of their growth though out the story. I really liked all the characters and how well developed they were in the storyline itself was. There as a lot of backstories for not only Cameron and Nate but also all the side characters like Police Friend Ollie, Alpha JC, Bestie Lesley, Mama Sophia, Little Brother Gael and even our over the top ex “Ricky” and his jerk of a father Lincoln. This book threw everything at you and I found myself wanting more of these characters when I was done reading. Would give 10 stars

You know what they say; where there's smoke, there's fire, and this book is! I read it almost in one sitting, until I was so tired my eyes couldn't focus on the page anymore, and I finished it as soon as I got out of bed the next day.

I enjoy a quick and light read I can blow through in a few hours, but there tends to be a lot more formula and a little less plot in that style of book. And while I know you're not supposed to judge a book by it's cover, the simple fact is I'm human and based on the cover and the book description I figured I would be getting a hopefully good story with the standard recipe.

Y’all. Not. At. All.

This is an action packed, investigative murder mystery (although with two POVs we put it together sooner than the characters can), yes the Main Characters are instantly attracted and fall fast but there's actual relationship building, strong characters, miscommunications-don't-completely-explode-things feast for your brain.

It is longer than a lot of what I've been binging recently, and when I hit "Part II" I thought "oh for real?" because the core of the formula recipe is there and I couldn't figure out how I was only halfway through, but it's like the difference between a plain cheese sandwich with "processed cheese food" and a loaf of grocery store brand white bread I made in middle school and a grilled cheese masterpiece with farmstead cheese and an artisanal loaf with herbs and spices and baked in cheese and tomatoes that's crafted by a chef.

I saw some reviews mentioning it being too long, but it reminds me a little of the way Lord of the Rings ends with a couple different little endings that wrap up all the storylines rather than an epilogue that gives you a paragraph for each, and I definitely prefer a single longer book to a shorter book with a cliffhanger (looking at you "Part II"), so as long as you go into it knowing the page count and/or "average time to read" and not expecting to be done with it in a couple hours you'll be fine.

It is open door on the erotic scenes if that's a deal breaker for you, but they're easy enough to skip or skim if not.

I would definitely read sequels or companions or whatever you might call it that takes place in the same world with some of this book's supporting characters in the MC roles.

TW: there is an on-page verbal rape threat during a fight at one point in the book that caught me off guard, I'm not sure if I missed a trigger warning or not, so I thought I'd mention it.

✨Marked had me hooked from the start with its mix of danger, mystery, and forbidden attraction. 🫶🏽Cameron was such a strong and determined heroine—I loved that she wasn’t written as someone who needed rescuing, even when she found herself in terrifying situations. 🥹Her sharp wit and inner strength made her easy to root for.💙Nate, on the other hand, was the perfect grumpy lone wolf. Broody, guarded, and completely against attachment… until Cameron breaks down every wall he’s built. 🫠The push-and-pull between them was addictive and gave me all the slow-burn feels.❤️‍🔥

The suspense plot added great tension, especially with the obsessive ex and the murders surrounding Cameron. Chefs kiss.🤌🏽The stakes felt high throughout, and it kept me turning the pages to see how everything would unfold.🤭

⭐️The romance and danger blended beautifully, and the chemistry between the leads was undeniable. Marked is a fantastic choice if you love protective grumpy heroes, strong heroines, and a suspenseful paranormal romance that keeps you on edge.🙌🏽

Be prepared to sit and enjoy this book, pack some snacks and a beverage as you will start the read and continue until iit's done, and it is a large book -think two books in one-. The plot is filled with twists, action, suspense, great smaller characters, and the chemistry betweem the main characters: Cameron & Nate.

Cameron is a journalist, fiercely independent, highly inquisitive, determined, and smart. Nate is the lone wolfe who comes to Cameron's rescue... even when she feels that she can do it all herself. But oh their chemistry.

This book is truly a treat to read, filled with moments betweem suspense and romance, there is danger, and a fierce spark between them that will bring the need to protect each other.

It is time for you to pick this book, and enjoy time getting acquainted with this story.

Lovely paranormal romance, open door

Great plot, mystery-ish. Our MCs go through a lot to achieve the growth they needed for a HEA, worth it. Really enjoyed the characters, wouldn’t hate the back stories on s few, especially JC. Good pacing, didn’t feel like it lagged, spicy but not just because, supports the story, characters’, and relation growth.
A bit on the long side, but well written.
I enjoyed the undertones of needed reform to mental healthcare, corrections, rehabilitation institutions and the plight and villainization of those who fall through the cracks and/or are socioeconomically disadvantaged. Maybe I’m just reading way too far into it.
Would recommend this for those who like flawed MCs, a bit of angst, werewolves hidden in a contemporary world, open bedroom door, found family and more.

Did I enjoy this book, yes. Was it 200 pages too long, also yes.

Cameron and Nate made for a cute couple. Cameron was a reporter and Nate, a lone wolf, who also contracts with packs all over the world.

The wolf shifter world was very different from more shifter book I read. I can't say I loved or hated it. It did leave me with a lot of "why" questions, that were sort of but not properly answered. Really I found the answers suspect. Really they didn't often make sense to me.

Overall, it was enjoyable. I did make it through all 711 pages and we got our HEAs. I do feel that 95% was too drawn out and that last 5% was done so speedy it felt like a "ooh I have a great idea let's add this".

Nate and Cameron's story was full of many twists and turns, and I really enjoyed it. It's longer than books I usually read, but it is broken into two parts. Part 1 you're trying to figure out who the villan is. In Part 2, we're learning how to take them down by connecting the dots. I liked Nate and Cameron as individuals as well as a couple. Their backgrounds and characeter development over the course of the book was written well. On the surface, they didn't have a lot of common, but as the story progress, their personalities, desires, and struggles are very similar. The secondary characters were good as well. I would be interesting to see Ollie and JC get their own happily ever afters as well. Overall, this was a good read that I'd highly recommend.

It was a pretty epic tale. The story is on the long side that is split into two parts and despite the length, the plot did not get stale. The characters were really good. It was really enjoyable and I wouldn't mind more books on that universe.

This was quite an epic read for me, but suited a wet Winter's day. My first foray into this authors paranormal and one I enjoyed. The characters had my interest and need to read this in one sitting. When these two finally settled it was worth the wait. :D

Long but riveting book

This is a unique take on shifters. I like when an author takes a different approach. This had good characters, lots of action and an ending that required tissues. With its long read.

This is a great slow burn romance. story, it was interesting, entertaining, suspenseful, and adventurous. It did get repetitive and boring in some places and could have been shorter and get the same effect, but otherwise it was a good read
