When gruff mountaineer Dominic Hartington-George seeks sponsorship for his latest expedition, his London PA insists on a more media-friendly profile—like dating celebrity supermodel Zeb Z.
Zeb can’t make the date, so he asks his identical twin, Aidan, to stand in for just one evening. Aidan, a struggling playwright, shuns the limelight to the extent people don’t even know Zeb has a sibling, but he reluctantly agrees.
When the deception has to continue beyond the first date, Aidan fights to keep up the pretense. Dominic likes his sassy, intelligent companion, and Aidan starts falling for the forthright explorer. But how long can Aidan’s conscience cope as confusion abounds? Will coming clean as “the other twin” destroy the trust they’ve built?

Dominique/Dom is a grumpy bear. Climbing mountains, being in the nature is all what he wants. Yet he needs money for his expedition and to gain it he has to date another gay celebrity as a promotion thing....
He hates domesticity that's why being in the mountains is the best for him. For only the promotion he accepts a date with Zeb the sexy celebrity. So not his thing.
Only Zeb sends his twin brother Aidan instead. Aidan will play as he is Zeb. Well that's easy said then done. Because they look alike but totally love another lifestyle. Aidan lives quietly and not in the spotlights, the world outside don't even know about his existence as a twin brother.
Dom is rude, dominant, loud, very honest and Aidan....is feisty against him and Dom appreciate him about that. Jeeesh i was moved by both men. They were real....well......at least Dom was.. but Aidan was too when he was not Zeb....
Aidan is somehow impressed by the big hairy blunt bear and feels all the signs.... Their interactions are intense and the tension is so sensual....they fit so well together. Aidan loved the climbing story's and Dominic loved Aidan ehh I mean loved everything about Aidan. He really tries to be more considerate.
What follows is their entertaining interactions, their growing feelings for each other. We get to see how they think and act and being honest. I could feel it in my gut. All very lovable.
When there is finally a contract signed to finance the expedition, Aidan realize it's just business, it was just all for the money and he withdraw very quickly, heartbroken. Dom climbs his mountain but now sees the world completely from another angle.
Zeb play's a small role but well put down.
A great read, I loved the writing style. The way we get a view in their way of life and all the feelings over the floor, the misunderstandings it was all well done. I really love the concept and happily surprised that the twin-switch was not predictable, what easily could be the case. **I recieved a copy by the publisher Dreamspinner Press for an honest review**
4.5 stars **ZOMG** This is my gush face! I loved every second of this sugary fluff. Loved the age-gap, the fieriness, fluff, and the British Boys.
I'm almost certain that this is my first Clare London book, I will definitely be reading more from her. This Dreamspun Desires series seems to be going one of two ways for me. Either I dislike them or love them. Ha, this is a good one. I do okay with fake relationship aspect. I think the author did a fabulous job on making the twins as nigh and day as she could. I mean they were two completely different people but I loved Zeb & Aidan as equally good. Maybe Aidan a little bit more since he brought out this side of Dominic that no one wasn't able to see. I love the dry humor in this story. I also like that they both had two difference of opinions a lot of times. For all of Dominic's abrasiveness he surely opened up and fell in love unapologetically with Aidan. Even Aidan becoming his brother who is famous and completely different then Aidan was a prize to see. I loved Aidan's vulnerability at times, and loved how when the same feelings were reciprocated within Dominic he did everything he could to pick Dominic's spirit up.
Dominic!! You big grouchy bear. He's a commitmentphobe who lives life on the edge or on adrenaline. Dominic is a man of few words, and with the look of my favorite face. The RBF (Resting Bitch Face)!! He is a mountaineer and he won't be anything else. It's his passion and every man in his family is the same. He comes from a legacy of excellence where he wants to follow in his father's footsteps. Only one teeny tiny problem. His ass is broke. No money for excursions, so he sucks it up and tries to get sponsors. HA!!!! I loved his initial reaction to having a sponsor. I loved the relationship he has between his self and his PA's. He literally seemed like the Grinch most of the book. Here's where the author excelled for me. I like that he has these feelings and recognized what they were. He didn't immediately push Aidan away for fear of rejection. Sure he never talked about it, but I think for H-G just being able to converse with someone else was enough for him to fall in love. That's the message I atleast got from it. I don't think he was so hung up on Aidan's looks more as being able to be himself with Aidan.
Aidan was great as well. Talk about taking the bull by the horns and going for it. When Zeb brought him this proposition sure he was scared but the excelled at the subterfuge of it all. I can see where he was falling for H-G and having the hardship of lying to him as well. Yes, he lied about who he was. You get that in the blurb, it shouldn't be a surprised. I really enjoyed seeing him with his friends. Titus is the best ever!! He had my favorite line out the entire story. I loved seeing them together. I'm a huge sucker for age-gap and this one worked perfectly to me. I wouldn't mind seeing these two in the future or revisiting this world some time.
This is a high recommend for me. It was just a good reading day I presume. It's low-angst, heavy on the attraction, witty, and really good. I definitely enjoyed it and can't wait to read more by this author!.
This is the first time I read a book about mistaken identity. Well, I seen plenty in movies, but I wonder how will it works out here.
Aidan who is Zeb's twin, decided to help his supermodel brother to assume his identity and go on a date with a popular mountaineer, Dominic. Dominic is a non-nonsense, gruff and lack of social etiquette of a brute. The last thing he needs is to date a diva model for a PR stunt. But when he meet Zeb, who is in fact, Aidan, he didn't expect to be attracted to the charming yet shy man who love the nature as much as he does.
I find the romance started off good with some great potential. Both Aidan and Dominic are characters that I felt connected to. But their romance didn't quite able to develop past the level of initial attraction. We get to know much about their past, their hopes and their vulnerabilities. But all that were only going on in their head. They didn't communicate much besides the likes and dislikes. Even their weeks of dating was mentioned briefly without much details.
Mistaken identity is something that might only happen in fiction, but I'm okay with the suspense disbelief. I can even imagine that they lead different lives that doesn't cross path. But for the twin not having any friends, beside one Lukas, who know they have a twin is unbelievable.
Let's not let me start on the sex. One time only, really? Don't be so selfish here. I need more love, as in more making love. More sex. More getting down and dirty.
To me, I enjoy the story for the most part. But as I said, it started off good, but it sorta just ended with a HEA before the romance really had a chance to develop. I feel like I only read half the story.
Hilarious is the word for this one. And I liked it a lot. Sometimes I felt that I needed a bit more and wanted a bit more of development, but overall, amazing. It’s rather slow but when they finally do something, it’s fucking sexy.
“Romancing the Wrong Twin” is a fun and sweet book with a serious case of deliberate mistaken identities. I had fun reading this story which is a little outrageous but entertaining.
Aidan is a struggling playwright trying to make his mark in London theater. His efforts have not been successful in a long time but he has not lost hope. But hope does not help pay the bills and Aidan is in serious need of funds if he wants to keep his fridge stocked. When his twin, supermodel, Zeb Z asks him for a favor, Aidan is a little wary. It seems Aidan has to impersonate his brother and go out on a date with celebrity mountaineer, Dominic Hartington-George for one night. It’s just a PR thing and Zeb needs his brother to take his place. Aidan reluctantly agrees to the charade but it’s just for one night, right?? So where’s the harm?
Dominic is a professional mountaineer who is in serious need of a sponsor if he wants to go to his next mountaineering venture. His image is not something which can rake in the sponsors. Combine that with his ever present scowl and you can say that Dom is not a media darling. So his PR firm comes up with the brilliant idea for him to go on a date with the gorgeous Zeb Z. Dom is of course not interested but he gives in as he has no other choice. His and Zeb’s worlds are miles apart as well as their personality so he is not sure if it will not end in a disaster. But Zeb turns out to be completely different than what he expected. He connects with Z and is attracted to him so Dom definitely wants more. But is he really falling for Zeb or for someone he has no idea exists?? Read to find out.
I liked the flow of the book. The character development as well as the plot was nicely done. I liked the relationship development between Zeb and Dominic. There was no angst as such. The situations where Aidan had to act like his completely opposite brother was hilarious and a little outrageous but fun nonetheless. And that photo-shoot, wow!!! I was really feeling bad for Aidan. At lease he got those sexy blue shorts in the bargain and the gruff, mountain man in his bed so it was a win win.
I would have really enjoyed it more if the charade came off before Aidan and Dom got naked together. I thought there will be angst coz of that and then an HEA but the reveal came almost at the end. It was dramatic what with it happening in front of the whole media but everything was resolved nicely at the end. I just found it a little unreal for the media to not know if a famous, media-darling supermodel has an identical twin. I don’t think in this age that is even possible. Also, how come Aidan’s friends never guessed why he looked like a supermodel? (it’s like superman: People only recognized him when he is wearing the suit and no one thought that the nerdy reporter with the same face could be the guy*eye-roll*)
Anyways this story has a fun concept with enjoyable primary and secondary characters so I had fun reading it. Completely opposite twins exchanging places sounds like a ton of mischief and that’s what we got in addition to a brand new romance between two guys who never would have met otherwise. I would recommend this book to those who love to read a low-angst book and enjoy reading about how “opposites attract”.
I love the Fake Boyfriend trope so very much, but I wasn't impressed with this one. I was angsting along with Aiden about the whole situation, and I've figured out the trope only seems to work for me when both MCs are in the know; yes, Aiden's personality often escaped the Zeb veneer, but how are we supposed to feel the connection & developing romance when Dominic is just as confused as we are? I almost wish everything up to The Big Misunderstanding™ were prologue or something and the rest dedicated to them falling in love with Dominic knowing the truth and them both pulling the wool over the public's eye.
Anywho, I liked the audio well enough (and Rusty Topsfield in general) but it took me most of the performance to figure out why I didn't think it helped elevate the experience: hearing the British slang narrated with a American accent. (I wonder if I'd have rated this higher had someone else narrated?)
"Romancing the Wrong Twin" is the tale of a grumpy hairy mountaineer and a struggling playwright with a Harlequin-esque twist involving twins. Sure it's improbable but it's a delight to buy into the trope and enjoy this deliciously sexy story.
It's simple really - Dominic Hartington-George needs money to finance his mountaineering expedition to Eiger, and Aidan needs funds to support his struggling group of players. In order to raise his profile for potential investors, Dominic needs to be seen out and about with an A-list celeb - someone like supermodel Zeb B. But when Zeb B is double-booked for a promotional event, he bulldozes his twin brother Aidan into impersonating him in exchange for the hefty fee.
Aidan, "the more timid twin, a quiet, creative, deep-feeling man" is out of his depth with the charade but quickly finds himself drawn to Dominic's "Hairy skin. Strong arms. Warm, muscular thighs. Oh fuck." as well as the man behind the grumpy rough exterior. The spark between them bursts into flames during a oh-my-god-steamy underwear photo shoot and the chemistry between the two is ridiculously hawt.
The story clips along at a steady pace as we get both Dominic and Aidan's POV until the very satisfactory ending with a big reveal. This was a fun read and a really enjoyable twist on a romance novel trope.
I received an ARC of this book from Dreamspinner Press in exchange for an honest review.
This book was really awful, in my opinion. It was choppy, the characters were disconnected with stilted dialogue and awkward sex. The plot was nonsense and it read a little like a farce with random people popping up unrelated to anything. The MC's couldn't even be arsed to try to talk and work things out. I couldn't follow the big reveal scene (the mother coming out of nowhere?). It was not my cup of tea.
This was utterly charming: Sweet, funny, sexy. What I love about this series is how the books have fun with these far-fetched tropes, while grounding the stories with authentic, sympathetic character moments. Though the premise of how Dom and Aiden/Zeb get together is ridiculous, nothing could feel more realistic than their attraction and chemistry. Also, the modeling scene was priceless and I loved the London setting.
I loved book two about the ugly duckling. So I decided to go back and read all of them. I barely made it through this one. In fact, I almost gave it two stars. After thinking about it I realized it wasn’t the book so much as the narrator. He spoke in this breathy strange way. Many of the voices he created were weird. It was distracting and almost ruined the book for me. I always try to listen to narrators I don’t know, but this time I forgot and bought the book first.
On reflection I realized I liked the story a lot. If I’d just read the book and not bought the audiobook I probably would have rated it 4 stars. My suggestion is if you’re thinking about the audiobook listen to the sample. You may like the narrator. After all, everyone has different tastes.
Deliciously OTT (suspend your disbelief) shenanigans when one twin stands in for the other one, who happens to be a famous model, while pseudo-dating a gruff mountain climber for publicity and funding.
Dominic, the mountain man, is a mountain of a man, with lots of hair all over, which appeals quite a bit to Aidan, the non-famous twin, who's a struggling playwright doing his brother a huge favor.
Posing as Zeb Z., Aidan goes on one reluctant date that then turns into more dates, and slowly but surely falls for the mountain man. Dominic, so wary of the celebrity model, finds that Aidan (Zeb) is much deeper than expected, and slowly but surely falls as well.
Except then the funding comes through, and Dominic sets out to climb the Eiger, and Aidan thinks he's been dismissed and their budding romance is over.
I really loved reading this book. It has the fake relationship trope, which is so well done here, and also uses the twin factor to score extra points. Lots of dry humor and snark in this book as well, which really appeals to me, and some funny moments when Aidan has to do things Zeb would do, and feels completely out of his depth. Zeb and Aidan were very different people, but also very supportive of each other. Aidan wanted to make it on his own, and refused his brother's offers of money, which made me like him more. And Dominic is, while gruff on the outside, starting to show a softer side when he's with Aidan, something he doesn't let many people see. He's a grinchy Grinch, but his heart grows three sizes in this book. His long-suffering PA and her assistant don't know what to do with a Dominic who smiles and laughs.
There's also a bit of a side plot that might turn into another book, what with Zeb and his agent, but we'll see if the author goes that route.
Seriously, this was a ton of fun, but it also had its quiet and somewhat angsty moments. There's a scene toward the end, when Dominic sees something that sets him off, which then sets in motion a sequence of events leading to the happily ever after. Like I said in one of my updates - oh what a tangled web we weave when first we set out to deceive. But they get their happy ending, because this is a romance after all. The writing is fabulous, and the story flows without any lulls or time jumps. The book was over before I knew it, and I was kind of sad that it ended.
An excellent addition to the Dreamspun Desires series. This book is well worth your time.
** I received a free copy of this book from its publisher. A positive review was not promised in return. **
‘Romancing the Wrong Twin’ attracted my attention because twins and the identity confusion they can cause fascinate me. Just imagining the potential chaos if someone fell for the “wrong” one had me look forward to reading this book, and since one twin is an outgoing model and the other a shy playwright, a major mess was sure to erupt. But when, in chapter one, I discovered exactly how gruff and anti-social mountaineer Dominic is, the man who is supposed to improve his image by dating famous model Zeb, I began to smile. And I have to admit, as much as I felt for the characters and their evolving emotions, the overriding sense I got was the perfectly lighthearted humor and the sweetness of the romance between Dominic and Aidan – the wrong twin according to Dominic’s PR person, but the right twin according to Dominic’s heart.
If you like stories about twins and the confusion they can cause if they decide to exchange places, if you want to see what happens when a solitary mountaineer loses his heart, and if you’re looking for an entertaining, sweet romance with lots of hilarious moments and great emotional upheaval – in the best sense, then you will probably enjoy this novel as much as I did.
NOTE: This book was provided by Dreamspinner Press for the purpose of a review.
Asked by his brother Zeb, to fill in for him on a date, Aiden meets the gruff Dominic, who is also going on the date for publicity and to drum up sponsorship. Adien thinks he is going out with the real Zeb, supermodel and has no idea that it is in fact his twin. Trouble is that the two get along really well and start to fall in love. An interesting book which I liked well enough. I thought Dom took the reveal at the end of the book well. A nice way to pass a couple of hours.
It’s no secret I am a hopeless romantic. I am in love with love. It’s also no secret that I adore the holy heck out of the Dreamspun Desire series and I am so addicted it could be scary if the stories weren’t so much fun.
This is definitely one of my favorites from the series and that is a tough thing to say. I love the series but when you have The Twin Switch trope then add in one gruff and grumpy bear of a mountaineer I am a goner for the pairing and this story was so much fun.
Dominic is a mountaineer from a family with history dating back the Tudors. Usually a family with that sort of lineage would have money to spend but sadly for Dom, it’s been exhausted and he has a huge trip, the Hartington Hike project, he wants to fund. The trip is one that follows in his late father’s trail, as he was also a mountaineer, and a homage to the expeditions that would take his father from home. It’s a melancholy and yet strong reason for Dom to want to complete this trek of Eiger, but Dom needs money. When his PR company suggests he get a few sponsors and be more out in the public eye aka out and about for the paparazzi, they find the perfect “date” for Dom in the form of model Zeb Z.
Zeb is unfortunately unavailable but he has an identical twin named Aidan who is struggling playwright and director in need of cash flow to get his troupe of actors to a respectable stage. When Zeb calls asks him to take a contract job for him that he cannot be home for, Aidan agrees because he needs the cash but Aidan gets more than he bargained for.
I adored this from the moment we meet both characters. I appreciate that the book has alternate POV’s and that we get each of the in chapter blocks with the start so we have a chance to get to know both of them before they meet and oh when they meet! The reaction of both men was adorable and their impromptu kitchen meal simply set the tone for the story for romance and intimacy.
Yes, I know that Aidan is lying to Dominic about who he is but really only in name and in real life that is so shameful yet in my romance, it’s a great setup for a wonderful story.
I am going to go against my normal and try not to ramble.
I adored the hell out of Dom and love that he bucked the stereotype of the gruff bead a few times. But oh that ONE TIME just about did me in and made me give a Judd Nelson at the end of The Breakfast Club fist pump because it was so sexy and vulnerable and just plain UNF! And UNF again because it’s deserving.
I loved Aidan and how he struggled with wanting to tell Dom but needing to keep the charade of character up for his twin who is off dealing with his own dilemmas while falling for Dom in so many ways. The men were a pure joy to read and fall in love with and just turn into goo over and over again and then feel the angst of it all waiting for the perfect moment of declaration.
Sigh.
Yeah, Romancing the Wrong Twin was the perfect read for a brisk Saturday morning in bed. It made me laugh, cringe, swoon and just really fall head over heels for the story.
I read pretty much have read every Dreamspun Desires book in Dreamspinner Press’s series. There’s over 20 so far and Romancing the Wrong Twin is my favorite of this collection to date.
Clare London has written not just a terrific love story but an engaging and unique one. Sure, the twin thing has been written a hundred ways but Clare really made this her own.
Twins, one a super model the other a playwright. One well known the other not known at all. Zeb and Aiden are identical physically but mentally are beyond different. When Zeb can’t do a promotional stunt he begs his twin to do it… and he does. Because there wouldn’t be a story if he didn’t.
Here’s where the unique part comes in. It’s in the form of the other MC, Dom! He’s a mountaineer! He’s a celebrity mountaineer but his character is financially struggling. He’s a bear of a man, hairy and grumpy. Aiden is younger, more effeminate, and overall has a positive outlook… sort of. These two, on the outside, look like they will clash horribly. But you know what they say; opposites attract!
I was really happy with how the truth came to be and the resolve. I was happy to see the ending wasn’t rushed and that the author really played out each scene so well.
If you’re a fan of the Dreamspun Desires series this one will be a sure favorite for you!
I'm actually intensely surprised that I'm not rating this book higher than I am. You see, this book avoided the massively huge trap that I was basically convinced it was going to fall into: the trap wherein the knows-nothing-about-mountain-climbing-Aidan is converted by mountain-climbing-expert-Dominic into a mountain climbing fanatic who would scale impossible peaks with Dominic.
That didn't happen. Aidan knew about mountain climbing before he met Dominic (although he certainly wasn't on Dominic's level) and he wasn't magically pulled up to Dominic's level. I thought I would be ecstatic.
But somehow their relationship didn't really gel for me. They seemed to spend a lot of time mis-stepping with each other, and although I felt like the author wanted us to feel like they got on track with each other, I never really felt it. The whole thing just felt propelled along because it was supposed to go along rather than through any internal locomotion. It was weird.
I did like how the "Aidan's identity is revealed" part was handled, though.
Be ready to suspend your disbelief, this is a story of twins swapping places. While I do think twins have probably managed to pull off some swaps, the stories I've read seem quite far from plausible. But I still love the trope of mistaken identity and twins especially, and don't let the silliness ruin the fun.
Dominic is a personality. He's rather obnoxious but I stil ended up liking him. He's not bland. The couple has chemistry and they bicker a lot. While the story is a bit silly and nothing ground-breaking, it is entertaining. The resolution played out like a farce (there are definitely some intentional a-play-inside-a-play themes here) but I actually bought Dominic's reaction to the revelation.
Another solid contribution to the Dreamspun Desires line. The twin gambit really takes me back to the romance I read before. Definitely a bit of suspension of belief is needed, but the characters felt real. I wanted more to Aiden, though.
This was an alright read for me. I couldn't really get into the characters or the story line with any type of excitement. It just really didn't scream "I need to finish now" type of story even though I like Clare London's books quite a bit.
