***Ain't no spice here. This is a kisses-only romcom***
I’m teamed up with a man I hate on a scoop that could be my Big Break.
Years ago, Blake McGregor sabotaged my career, robbing me of the interview that would change my life.
Absolute humiliation.
Comically, on the long drive to our assignment, I eventually recognize my nemesis sitting beside me.
But tragically, the penny drops only after I begin to catch feelings for my back-stabbing cameraman.
I grit my teeth and focus on the report the story about Boston Bullets’ bad boy for News Breaks International, then get back to base without murdering my gorgeous colleague or giving in to the swoony attraction growing between us.
Plans quickly unravel and things get complex on the road.
It’s hot. The car has no air con, and I am distracted by Blake’s obvious physical good looks and the way he assembles his equipment.
Under cover, we pretend to be lovers and I’m all flustered by Blake’s very convincing kisses, longing looks, and gentle touches.
Are we just pretending or is this the real deal?
I guess we’ll find out when the assignment, and the road trip, end.
Love Never Happens on a Road Tripis a hilarious dual POV, low-heat, stand-alone romcom with witty banter, swoony kisses, and all the summer romance feels.
Please note- this book is not squeaky clean. Although there is no on-page naughtiness, it is implied, and the characters move in together without being married. There's zero offensive language.
A bit about me... My stories are loaded with funny stuff, coincidence, drama and love.
I pull out all the action and comedy, which is usually tragic and accident laden - add some romance if it's romcom - and package it up in a satisfying narrative tied up with a big pink shiny satin bow.
Tadaah! Here you go. Enjoy.

Thank you to the author, Francesca Spencer for giving me the opportunity to read this ARC.
This book was absolutely adorable! If you’re looking for a feel-good romance filled with laugh-out-loud moments, sweet and swoony kisses, and all the summer vibes, I definitely recommend picking this one up. It’s the perfect light and charming read for romance lovers.
I received this book as an ARC and throughly enjoyed it! It’s a nice, fast-paced read and I genuinely needed it after being in a book slump. Thanks to this book, I’m finally back to my normal book-loving self! Yay!
This book is a closed-door romance and I am the type that will read spice, but I don’t enjoy a lot of it within a book. It was honestly refreshing getting more of the characters and the tension without the sex scenes. It just goes to show that a good romance book is possible to make without a lot of spice! The tension was there and the intimacy that they did have was mild, but still enough to make me blush from reading it.
I give this book a solid 4/5 stars. I definitely recommend and want to read more from the author! I only dock one point due to my personal opinion, I didn’t care for the grudge the FMC had been holding against him. I felt it was a bit unnecessary. But other than that, I really enjoyed this read!
Never say never…Zoe is asked by her boss to travel to get the first scoop on a celebrity scandal, even if it means being in close quarters with a man that stole her big break opportunity a few years back. On a tight timeline, her and Blake, the photographer m, ant seem to catch a break as the universe seems to be against them with mishap after mishap. The forced proximity brings all the enemies-to-lovers vibes to the forefront, the shenanigans being a bit of humor and the plot is fast-paced. An enjoyable, low-spice road trip romance! Thanks to the author for the electronic copy, thoughts are my own.
I received an ARC from the author but wasn’t required to post a review. This is my honest, voluntary impression I had upon reading it.
Francesca has written a wonderful series here and I have been able to read and enjoy each story in this series!
This story deals with a girl who 5 years previously attended a concert with the backstage pass to meet and talk to the band members and jump into her journalistic career. However, it didn’t happen because she can’t find her pass and when she sees a boy she met going backstage she assumes he took her pass!
Five years later when her boss can’t make the trip to track down a story, she assigns it to Zoe to go with the cameraman to get the story. One thing leads to another and she discovers he was the one she held the grudge against all those years believing he stole her pass!
The story has some interesting twists and turns and the road trip is not what either intended when they set out. Misunderstandings get sorted out and when they get there the story they originally went to cover is no more but she senses a better story and stays to bring it to the surface.
This story once again shows how jumping to conclusions without factual proof can lead to hurt, anger and resentment even though it can be unfounded. In this case, no names were exchanged so contact couldn’t be made but the feeling still remained until she finally confronted him and found the truth when she realized who he was!
I love this series and the real life situations that are so easy to understand and sympathize with! That’s why this series is so great!
I wholeheartedly and enthusiastically recommend this book to one and all! It reminds us of how we should react in a similar situation which is always a good thing to remember!
I urge you to get and read this story! I, for one, know you won’t regret that decision!
I read a lot of this genre. And overall- it’s a really cute premise. Original and it had me hooked from the start- but that wasn’t sustained.
I tried to look up the author but there wasn’t any personal information about her- like where she’s from. I say that because a lot of wordings were quite British, but neither character was and the story was set in the states. That didn’t make sense to me.
The couples chemistry was instant but at the same time was written so juvenile at times that it was painful to read. And the ‘reason’ Zoe is made at Blake is so teenage middle school. I mean, they are adults and it’s been 5 yrs. Good grief.
In fact - what this story needed was a good editor familiar with this genre. There were paragraphs that could (and should have been!) taken out. So many little details that just aren’t needed (she opened the door, she buckled her seat belt, she looked in the rear view mirror- Geesh get on with it already!)
So while I liked the idea- I just couldn’t get into this one. I haven’t read anything else from this author so I don’t know if this was her first book or her 100th. I would probably try her again though because I do like the genre and I appreciate authors that add to it.
(4.5 stars rounded up) Love Never Happens on a Road Trip was a feel-good romcom with slow burn romance and funny interactions and crazy mishaps. I received an advanced copy of this book and couldn't wait to get into the story. It has such a cute cover that conveys a happy, summer-y feeling. That little red Suzuki has a big role in this story and I loved it.
I like Zoe and Blake individually and together as partners on the road trip. They are good characters but also have relatable flaws, frustrations and misconceptions. They make such a fun, sweet couple who evolved from temporary coworkers in challenging circumstances. I laughed and smiled a lot as many unexpected incidents unfolded. I had a great time reading this one and want more adventures of Zoe and Blake.
Their experiences made me think about how important it is to try to be optimistic on the way to your destinations, both literally and figuratively. I really enjoyed this story and look forward to catching up on Francesca Spencer's other books.
‘Love Never Happens on a Road Trip’ was entertaining. Its plot involved a new job adventure, leaving a bad taste in one’s mouth, a rash sidelining the passenger, traveling with a person that caused emotional distress previously, hilarity, several bumps in the road while traveling, an epiphany, oh joy…a certain former girlfriend, more obstacles along the way, annoying phone calls at every turn from the boss, sharing lodging interestingly, going undercover for a scoop, setting the record straight by doing the right thing, making a career move, attending a mind-blowing concert, and falling in love. Also, Zoe and Blake, the protagonists, were ideally suited for each other. I kept rooting for them. Additionally, I appreciated the author’s vivid descriptions, which created a lively tone. Overall, I liked the upbeat and humorous narrative. I received a copy for free and am giving my honest review voluntarily.
This rom-com takes you on the greatest road trip! Zoe and Blake are a couple of highly enjoyable characters, and I just loved the way this story panned out! Zoe has always wanted to be a reporter, but someone sabotaged that chance for her. Now, she has teamed up with that same person, AKA, Blake, to work for on a story together. On the road trip, one thing after another keeps happening, and Zoe is having a hard time staying focused on the news report. The road trip is going haywire, and now feelings are resurfacing.
The author took us on an emotional roller-coaster with this romance, and it was the best! I loved the writing, the pace of the story, and the characters so much!
You know the adage, if it can go wrong, it will or in this case, did. What was supposed to be a simple photo shoot/ambush, turns into a substitute reporter, airline reservations that go wrong, flat tires, car trouble, loaner car from rent a wreck, a boss with an attitude and sparks flying. This book was funny and very entertaining.
This was such a cute read!! Zoe takes over as her Boss's reporter on a news breaking story and is forced on a very eventful road trip with the cameraman name Blake; who coincidentally was the man who saved her from being trampled and possibly stole her backstage pass.
I had a lot of fun reading this: I love their banter and how they match each other's sense of humor. that road trip was so chaotic that it was also sweet as it shows how much they're growing on each other and falling more in love: I honestly think this should be turned into a movie because it's perfect as one!! I'd definitely watch it for sure!
Thank you to Francesca Spencer for the ARC and I voluntarily give my review
When you stay up past your bedtime and think “just one more chapter”, you know it’s a good book. Absolutely love the characters of Zoe and Blake. Zoe’s personality and “go with the flow” attitude are not only commendable but humorous too. She comes to numerous “Truths” about herself as she navigates the road trip and then life itself. Blake is SO likable as he and Zoe hit one snag after another on their adventure. The way he respects Zoe and wants what is best for her as they come to know each other makes him a keeper. Loved the story and their HEA.
I received an advanced readers copy and am leaving this review voluntarily.
I received a digital ARC of this book. Zoe is an assistant to a reporter, she always thought she’d be the reporter. But when circumstances happen that give her the chance to be the reporter, will everything work out? First she has to road trip with a hot camera guy to the destination. But what happens when she figures out she knows him from years ago and hates him? Francesca takes you on a roller coaster ride with Zoe and Blake. There are laughing moments, swooning moments, and moments of outrage. I read this book in one day.
This was another fantastic read! In this wonderfully fun adventure we find Zoe, an aspiring journalist, thrown into a roadtrip by her boss with photographer, Blake, whom she blames for her miss of a huge story in college. Enter a road trip of hilarity, misunderstandings, and swoony moments in the mad dash to uncover a story before other media outlets do. These two will have you cheering for them from the beginning and enjoying their journey. I loved getting to experience it unfold!
What a fun but crazy rom-com road trip! Murphy’s Law is working overtime in LOVE NEVER HAPPENS ON A ROAD TRIP, but it sure brings out Blake and Zoe’s true colors. Can they get the job done in spite of unending obstacles and surprising romantic zings? I reviewed a free Advance Reader Copy of this book with no strings attached.
This is a really cute story you can read in an afternoon. I enjoyed the characters and the fun banter. The storyline was a little predictable. The plot of chasing down a football player because of a rumor, seemed like a weak idea. But I guess it got the road trip moving and that part was entertaining. Overall, it was an entertaining quick read. Sweet romance little to no foul language.
Great dual pov story of Blake and Zoe. Meeting for a work assignment, they both have the feeling they have met before. As they travel to get the story they have been assigned to cover, their own story develops at the same time. Fantastic story, Francesca. Loved every bit of it.
I had so much fun reading this book. I was laughing from start to finish. Blake and Zoe are such a natural fit and compliment to each other. Francesca can always deliver a fun, hit romance with all the swoon but none of the steam.
This was such a cute romcom book! It’s absolutely perfect for the summer read♥️ It’s book #3 in the Love Never Happens Series! It can be read as a standalone or in order of the series! I highly recommend picking this up and reading it🥰 I rated this 4.5⭐️ and rounded up to 5⭐️
I thought that this was a pretty good read. After Zoe and Blake are thrown together on a road trip, everything seems to go wrong for Zoe. But through it all, Blake is there being rescuing her along the way. This is a funny read with a happy ending.
Loved this story. I love the road trip and the insta connection that the 2 main characters experienced. It was something different to what I've been reading, different tropes and it was so good.
Love Never Happens on a Road Trip is a feel-good romcom that delivers slow-burn romance, laugh-out-loud moments, and plenty of chaotic mishaps along the way. From the moment I picked it up, I knew I was in for a fun ride. The bright, summery cover immediately sets the tone, and the little red Suzuki quickly becomes an unforgettable part of the journey — almost a character in its own right.
Zoe and Blake are both likeable individually, but together they really shine. They’re imperfect, relatable, and shaped by past disappointments that influence how they see each other — sometimes unfairly. Watching them go from reluctant, awkward coworkers to something far deeper was genuinely enjoyable. The road trip setup allows their dynamic to evolve naturally, and I loved how their shared challenges, misunderstandings, and unexpected detours pushed them to grow both professionally and emotionally. The early misconception between them was amusing, and once it was cleared up, I appreciated how the author chose to focus on emotional depth and character development rather than unnecessary drama.
Zoe’s story in particular stood out to me. Her lost dream of becoming a reporter and the quiet ache she carries from a missed opportunity felt very real. I loved seeing Blake gently help her reconnect with the passion and confidence she’d buried. Blake, too, surprised me — supportive, thoughtful, and quietly driven, he balances Zoe beautifully. Their journey isn’t just about chasing a story; it’s about rediscovering belief in themselves and each other.
This book is filled with humorous moments, thoughtful reflections, and just enough emotional tension to keep things engaging without tipping into angst. Francesca Spencer has a lovely way of reminding readers to hold onto optimism, even when circumstances don’t unfold as planned. As the third book in the Love Never Happens series, it fits perfectly with the low-angst, closed-door romances I’ve come to enjoy from this author. I found myself smiling often, swooning a little, and wishing there were more adventures waiting for Zoe and Blake when I reached the end.
A quick, uplifting read under 300 pages, this book is the perfect escape when you want romance, humour, and heart — all wrapped up in a road trip full of twists and turns.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This was a quick rom-com read and I loved it. Years ago Zoe had her backstage passes to interview her favorite band. However, she fell and a good looking man helped her up. Zoe looked for her backstage passes and couldn’t find it. She thought the guy that helped her stole it. Years later when Zoe is working for are forced to work together to get the story of a football player and his girlfriend.
On their way Blake’s car breaks down and they stop on a small town to get it repaired which will take days. The owner lets them drive his vehicle. However, the heat must run on high and the air doesn’t work. But, Zoe is attracted to Blake.
Blake notices the change in how Zoe speaks to him. He has lots of questions and Zoe confronts him and says he stole her passes. Blake was there but had his own tickets. Zoe apologizes and Blake accepts.
The two work together to find out the back story of the football player and his girlfriend. Blake and Zoe pretend to be on a relationship but each has feelings for the other. The only problem is that Blake’s ex-girlfriend is Zoe’s boss. Zoe is concerned it will affect her job.
This was such a cute romcom book! It’s absolutely perfect for the summer read♥️ It’s book #3 in the Love Never Happens Series! It can be read as a standalone or in order of the series! I highly recommend picking this up and reading it
This is a seriously hilarious rom com that will keep wanting to read on! This author has put banter with enemies to lovers trope on a road trip together and then there’s all the shenanigans that happens on the way!
