The Barbarian Prince - Morrigan Blake is a reporter who joins the Galaxy Brides corporation in order to get the scoop on a royal wedding. She gets some fab perks along, enhancements to make her a better bride. However the downloads she gets are a bit vague and downright shoddy in parts. But no worries, she's not going to actually get married...right???
When Ualan sees Morrigan, the crystal around his neck glows which means she is his mate. After the claiming ceremony Morrigan tells Ualan that she has no intention of staying with him. When she is told that they are now married by the plants own law, she kind if goes into meltdown and declares herself a slave. Little knowing that as she is the one who indentures herself, she is the only one can break it. Ualan has to treat her as such until Morrigan asks the king and queen, his parents to pardon her and remove her slave status.
There follows a farcical rampage of disasters, least of which is Morrigans total lack of skills in the slave dept!!! She doesn't even know how to clean up the mess she makes trying to get one over on Ualan.
This story had a lot of sexual tension and humour. I did find it incredibly hard to like Morrigan. She is quite self centred and does things to spite herself. I'm not exactly a domestic goddess myself but even I know how to do the basic tasks Ualan sets her. Yesthings were kept from her and Ualans own traditions mean there are misconceptions, misundertandings and miscommunications but these could have been resolved if Morrigan wasn't quite so...Morrigan!!!!!!
The Perfect Prince - Nadja, from afar, looks like a pampered princess with the world at her feet. But up close she is trapped in a golden cage. Every minutiae of her life, including what she eats, wears and who she meets is controlled and monitored by her father. Her father is a powerful doctor in the "medical mafia" and when he announces that she is to marry his coleague, she realises that the time has come to flee.
Nadja ends up on the Galaxy Bride’s ship with Morrigan from book 1. Nadja wants a low key groom, a miner, farmer or local doctor. Nothing glamorous that will be broadcast on the news and alert her father to here whereabouts.
Prince Olek, 2nd of the 4 princes, is an ambassador. He knows that having wife would benefit him in his duties and dealing with offworlders. His crystal selects Nadja and he is ecstatic with its choice. He sets out to woo her and Nadja knows that if and when she removes Olek’s mask she is bound to him from that time on. She understands their traditions and knows he can't say too much but believes he is a simple working man.
The feathers fly when Nadja realises that he is a Prince, she believes she has fled from one cage to another. She believes that being married to royalty will bring her father to her doorstep. There is much conflict but also passion between Nadja and Olek. I also loved the rapport between her, the other princesses and the Queen. It was very much girl power LOL. The worst happens and her father finds her but will she capitulate or will she fight for her freedom?????
As with other Mandy books, this overlaps with other books in the series so that you see the same action from different perspectives. I took to Nadja a lot more quickly than I did Morrigan. She seemed to just make a niche for herself with the locals and acclimatise that much better. The final set piece in the show off between herself and her father was wonderful and I would have been disappointed if Olek removed the problem for her.
The Dark Prince - Olena, space pirate, is running for her life. She and her crew have spread to the winds and she has crashed and needs to get away from bounty hunters following her. The Galaxy Brides ship is the closest to hand to use for her getaway. She decides marrying someone for a few months whilst she lies low and searches for her crew is the best plan she can come up with.
Yusef is one of the princes taking part in the bride selection process. He knows as soon as he sees Olena that she is his, and that with that fiery red hair she is going to be a handful.
I love this series. Although all are separate stories, the action overlaps at different points in each book, so you can read them out of order. I also loved Olena and Yusef together. They are quite playful, funny characters and the banter was easy between them. There is plenty of passion and Olena is not shy on acting on it.
Olena was quicker to catch on that the princes are shifters, maybe because she was used to dealing with shifters on her crew. The book answered what the chastisement was from earlier books, which had been driving me mad!!! Olena never worked the ‘oh poor me’ routine, even when she could have done.
The Warrior Prince - Pia Korbin, is on the run! She was an assassin and whilst on a job she attracted the slimy attention of the mayors son. After being forced to kill him when he attempted to rape her, she runs and escapes on the Galaxy Brides Ship.
Her body had been burned, over 60% of it, during an explosion whilst escaping her home planet. During her trip to Quilixen she has been given extensive reconstructive surgery. Even though she no longer has the scars, she still feels ugly and unworthy.
When Zoran claims her as his bride, she is convinced he is making fun of her. She hates the rules that he tried to have her abide by. She wants her freedom!!! There ensues a struggle for the upper hand.
Both are strong and forceful personalities and there are more than a few misunderstandings. There is a breakdown in their self imposed barriers and the HEA was just perfect. While there were not a lot of sex scenes, there was a lot of sexual tension. The love scenes are forceful and there is BDSM like scenarios but they are not forced and are very much consensual!!!
I loved this series and seeing the story evolving from the differing points of view of the heroines was fantastic. No spoilers but I loved the multi HEA in the epilogue!!!!!
Barbarian Prince (Dragon Lords, #1) I'm torn. Since I practically devoured the book in a night I must've liked/enjoyed it to some degree. And there were definitely a few chuckles involved as well. But I also can't deny that there were some things that bugged me. Like his monosyllabic non-answers in the beginning and his general failure to communicate got frustrating real quick, just like her lack of assertiveness and a sense of lacking the courage of her convictions. Not a fan of books that leave 90% of the resolution to the last five pages or how it ended for her in terms of her job, etc. But that's more my independent modern woman thinking. Like I said I still enjoyed a read and it was definitely one of my favorites by this author so far. Just bought the next one in the series and will give that one a go, before deciding whether to continue on or not. Perfect Prince (Dragon Lords, #2) It's weird. In a lot of ways I liked this second installment better than the first. Despite coming across as a lot more shy, quiet in the first book, Nadja turned out to be a lot more assertive than Morrigan, she also seemed better prepared/informed despite her trip being spur of the moment, rather pre-planned like Morrigan's. From a storytelling point of view I get that it has more to do with what you can reveal when in a second book compared to first one. Still it seemed a little backwards to me. I also like how she actually went out and got herself busy. Being proactive and all that. The one thing I liked less compared to the first one was the development of their "marital relations", I found Olek quite a selfish lover and overall quite dismissive of her, rarely actually listening to her. And all arguments were brushed aside, never to be resolved. Not cool Dark Prince (Dragon Lords, #3) I loved Olena, feisty, streetsmart, fun. And so far Yusef was the least annoying of this bunch of clueless, pigheaded barbarians... The opening act still so contradictory, the constant back and forth, push and pull, tease, only for it to be too late any way by the time the girls come back to their sense. Where's the honor in that? Seeing as they keep touting on about it. It's all rather convenient and one-sided. Still, suspending that for the sake of the story it is a fun adventure to read and join in on... Warrior Prince (Dragon Lords, #4) Quite possibly my favorite yet. Loved Pia, her skill and competence, but also her insecurities and hangups. Psychologically intriguing how you can take the girl out of uglyland, doesnt mean uglyland is out of the girl... Also, this was the first one that showed some actual compromise between the two, with Zoran showing some real remorse for some of his behavior (none of the other three did) and trying to actually work on it. As fun as these last few days with this book have been, I'm not entirely sure yet as to whether I'll be continuing this series. There's only so much virgin meets barbarian I can handle. Which has more to do with the genre as such rather than this series in particular, like I mentioned in the beginning I got totally sucked in... :)
I enjoyed these four alien-human, dragon shifter, arranged marriage romances all with a side of danger and communication issues. The stories had a good mix of sweet, spicy, danger, painful pasts, intrigue and real life issues. I loved all the male MCs but had trouble with two of the female MCs, they were not as likable and the stories seemed to drag a bit before the brides finally unpacked their baggage and embraced their feelings. The stories were well written and included good world building. Each book was a complete story for the individual couple but the stories paralleled each other and at times overlapped so it was good to read them in order as the stories built on each other.
Barbarian Prince
Morrigan is a human reporter who travels undercover as a member of an alien brides program hoping to uncover a scandalous story. She skips the uploads related to the Qurilixian marriage ceremony so she is unprepared for what happens. Ualan is a Qurilixian dragon shifter, a prince, and the future king. After the wedding night, Morrigan refuses to agree that they are married. 3.5 stars.
Perfect Prince
Nadja escapes her gilded cage and the marriage her father arranged by being a last minute passenger on the alien brides ship to Qurilixian. She imagines being happily married to an unimportant gardener which would hide her in obscurity. Olek is a Qurilixian dragon shifter, a prince, and the ambassador. Nadja does not want a prince or to be in the limelight. 4 stars.
Dark Prince
Olena is a space pirate captain who escapes authorities, leaving her scattered crew and her destroyed ship behind by being a last minute passenger on the alien brides ship to Qurilixian. She does not intend to stay with her husband. Yusef is a Qurilixian dragon shifter and a prince. Olena denies her feelings at every turn. 3.75 stars.
Warrior Prince
Pia has spent the majority of her life badly disfigured due to burn scars. She knows how to fight and protect herself. Knowing that her scars make her easy to identify and running for her life and in exchange for surgery to remove her scars, she agrees to become one of the alien brides shipped to Qurilixian. Zoran is a Qurilixian dragon shifter, a prince, and the captain of the guard. Pia’s painful past influences the way she sees herself and she believes Zoran does not really want to be married to her. 4 stars.
I would rate this as ADULT due to the BDSM early on in Book 1, otherwise, it is NC17. Barbarian Prince: Having, as usual, started the series in the middle, I was delighted to finally read this adult paranormal Qurilixen romance, but point out that there is some BDSM early on. 4* Perfect Prince: Better to allow two days for this NC17 alien bride tale about Nadja Mandylen Alexander who escapes an arranged marriage by boarding a Galaxy Brides ship to Qurilixen. 4* Dark Prince: Set aside a full, long day for this NC17 alien romance between the pirate Olena Leyton and Prince Yusef of Draig on the planet Qurilixen which Olena reached via Galaxy Brides. 4 1/2* Warrior Prince: I commend reading this NC17 alien bride romance over two days, or even getting the set to have the multiple viewpoints of the same actions available to scan simultaneously. The Warrior Prince is Zoran of Draig on Qurilixen and his bride is Pia Korbin. 5* I read all four books as ARCs and am delighted to commend the set.
A very interesting series! There is a lot of intrigue. It is best if you read them in the correct order. I will admit I had a little bit of a hard time with the main females of each story. They have some piss poor attitudes. I understand that they have had hard lives. I guess my disposition is just different. These are wonderful books to read but be warned that there are multiple triggers. Mentions of torture, abuse, murder, and just very hard lives. I would recommend to anyone who likes a little intrigue and smexy scenes. Will look forward to reading more from this author.
Michelle M Pillow's Dragon Lords boxset 1-4 is too great to pass up. It if chock-full of hot & sexy men, sassy women, a Queen who actually rules her King (but don't tell anyone) & great side characters as well. Quirilixen is a world beyond imagination & is so well developed you fell like your there in every book. These are dramatic, super STEAMY, hysterical, tear inducting (happy & sad), page turning reads that you won't be able to put down. I highly recommend buying right now. Go, now, stop reading this review and just buy it. Michelle M Pillow doesn't disappoint.
This series of books are fantastic reading featuring handsome Dragon Lords and their fated mates who come from Galaxy Brides. Each one of the four brides are there for various reasons and these Dragon Princes will have to woo their brides who mostly don't realise that their grooms are Princes let alone dragons. I totally recommend these books
Only read Dragon Lords books 1-4 as they were already downloaded. Was very disappointed that after reading #1 that the other 3 were almost a carbon copy and parts actually seemed as if they were copied from the first book with the same scenes described exactly, just from another character’s view.
I actually remember when these came out. Michelle’s updates were very finely done. The world building was great. It’s easy to picture it all. Each brother and his new wife face their own challenges. But they have the common thread of lack of communication, which they have to work through in their own ways.
Wow I read 3 books in about 3 days yes, I stayed up all night until 8 in the morning to finish one I couldn't put it down. The fight scenes, intrigue, and shifters and forever mates. The way this author wrote it brings you into the author's world and I don't want to leave.
I haven't read many books in this style and have to say that I love it now. I read books 1-4 in 3 days. The Dragon Lord books also do great honour to the great Anne Maccaffrey and her ability to mix fantasy and science fiction flawlessly.
These books would be 5 star if not being the same exact story, in some places the same exact words, only being told by a different princess in her perspective. Learning about each princess and their relationship with their princes is interesting, but very repetitive
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this wonderful series. Michelle has done a brilliant job of making each story flow easily into the next. Each character is brilliant and their antics are brilliant.
The storytelling brings this world to life, and oh what a wonderful world it is. The men are alphas protective to the core and the women are independent, making them earn their love.
These four dragon princes are each unique and sometimes lovable. They take brides from a bride ship who each have their own agenda and four interesting stories unfold.
Each Prince did not realise the trouble they were in when their Crystal glowed for their mates, and the women did not go easy on them, but each had a happy ending. Very well written, will be interested to see how the Var fare in love next.
One of my favorite series to date. Michelle Pillow delivers a great story, characters worth reading, and an incredible world for the story to take place.
I like that the heroine s are all flawed and working to overcome drama and disaster in the add lives. The hero's are handsome, honorable delightfully clueless
I can't say enough good things about this series. The author has modified the stories to give more depth to the characters. These books are about the four Draig Princes who live on the planet of Qurilixen. Each book is a complete story and they do overlap. I love how you can read the same scene written from another perspective. I can't wait to see what comes next.
Barbarian Prince is the first story is about Morrigan and Prince Ualan. Morrigan is a reporter that signs up for Galaxy Brides as a way to get dirt for a story about the Galaxy Brides. She never expects to get chosen as the bride of Prince Ualan. He is the eldest and will become King of the Draig. She makes herself a slave when she declares herself to be one in front of one of the servants. Ualan's hands are tied until she can go before the counsel to request to no longer be a slave. Once that is done the real work of learning about and learning to love each other really starts.
Perfect Prince is the second book about Nadja and Prince Olek. Nadja is the daughter of one of the Medical Mafia mob bosses. Her father arranges a marriage to another of the doctors in the Medial Mafia. She escapes and gets away by signing on with Galaxy Brides. She just wants a country doctor or gardener who will keep her out of the public eye. Boy do the sparks fly when she finds out that Olek is a Prince. She makes Olek's life very difficult when she refuses to be a princess. Just as they work things out, Nadja's father shows up on the planet. She realizes she loves Olek and has to work fast to stay with him.
Dark Prince is the third book about Olena and Yusef. Olena is a pirate on the run from the law after her ship is shot down. She signs on with Galaxy Brides as a way to get off the planet and lay low for a while until her crew can find her. Prince Yusef wants her as soon as Olena steps off the ship and is so happy when his crystal starts to glow. Olena refuses to tell Yusef her name and drugs him as a way to keep him in check during the wedding. Olena eventually does tell him her name but only after running from him when he puts her in chastisement. The Var King takes a liking to Olena and wants her alive while the other princesses are killed. She is rescued by the other Draig princes while Yusef is in a coma when he was stabbed in the back. She stays by his bedside and helps wake him up.
The final book is Warrior Prince about Pia and Prince Zoran. Pia is an assassin/soldier that kills the mayor's son to prevent him from raping her. She needs a new face since hers was so badly burned that anyone on the planet would be looking for a scarred woman. She signs an exclusive contract with Galaxy Brides to cover the cost of the surgeries. Pia doesn't believe she is beautiful. She thinks Zoran is making fun of her when he chooses her at the Breeding Festival. He has to force her to remove his mask to get her to marry him when she refuses to stay. Pia demands a divorce the following day after they complete the ceremony. Zoran is so frustrated that he goes back to training the soldiers as a way to relieve his frustrations. Pia has to overcome many insecurities to become the woman she was all along.
This series was my first introduction to the world of Michelle Pillow creative magic. This is a wonderful series full of deep passion and love, truth and finding ones fated mate. The setting is futuristic, yet the why the Dragon Lords live is somewhat set in a historical romance time. They do have all the modern and futuristic technology. The story line is very well developed and the characters are NOT one dimensional. Each and everyone has a past that they are either running from and trying to forget. The women are not fake and are strong. I would recommend this series to anyone that needs a bit of escape and some hot sexy Dragons.
I've enjoyed every book that I've read by Michelle M. Pillow, but this boxed set was better than her norm, I think. Even though all the books take place at approximately the same time, with each one going a little further in time than the last, there is not very much overlap of info. There is just enough that if someone grabbed book 2 or 3 to start, they wouldn't be lost. I would definitely recommend this box set to any PNR/UF fan out there. Grab it and enjoy!!
From the first book you are drawn into the new world of Dragon shifters against cat shifters. It's similar to seven brides for seven brothers, where brides are brought to the new world in the hopes of finding their match. These book detail the trials of the men and women learning about each other to become loving husbands and wives. Great read.
I wish I could have rated this bundle higher. I really thought the characters and their stories were great and very interesting. Unfortunately, the author was lazy, in my opinion. It was like she had basically used the same story and only changed the scenes where the couple's were alone. Any scenes in which the other characters were involved were word for word in every book.
The four book series is a great way to start on a series. Really enjoyed the various point of view. If you don't like repeating the same event s four times from four different views than this book is not for you.
