Shadow Bay #2

The Winter Of Hidden Knives

Rate this book
Shadow Bay braces for a late-winter storm when a longtime local is found dead in his garage. The scene is too neat. Too controlled. And Chief Shauna Peterson knows a staged job when she sees one.

The investigation drags her back to a summer the town refuses to face—a teenage girl who vanished, a night built on lies, and a secret that never stopped shaping the people who survived it.

As Shauna pushes deeper, Shadow Bay tightens around her. Council members sidestep her questions. Business owners look the other way. And a few powerful names work hard to keep the past buried—no matter who ends up in the ground. The closer she gets, the more she realizes the danger isn’t circling the town—it’s circling her.

Someone remembers exactly what happened that summer. Someone who’s been waiting for the storm to roll in—and for the bodies to follow. And the person behind it all knows every one of Shauna’s weaknesses.

In Shadow Bay, the cold doesn’t just hide the truth. It shields the people willing to kill for it.

Perfect for fans of Harlan Coben, Karin Slaughter, Freida McFadden, and James Patterson.

Love

Great read, as the first one in the series love the short chapters.

The relationship with Nelson and Emma is absolutely beautiful & I'm super happy Shauna finally decides to let Nelson in.
- love that story line is not simular as the first book in the series, I find standalone series very predictable usually; not with this book #2.

- I did suspect the murderer from the getgo. However, I didn't suspect the person who brought the Holly case to light. There was a small suspicion at the very beginning when she was told her face was similiar, but it was quickly disregarded when I kept reading.

Will go on to read the third as this is turning out to be a great serie.

It’s a frustratingly "okay" read. It’s perfect for a rainy afternoon when you don't mind your mind wandering, but if you’re looking for a book to truly obsess over, this isn't it. It has the heart of a thriller but the pulse of a textbook.
