The Shadow Wolf Alpha, claiming our territory, thinks I’m a house cat who’s forgotten how to bare her fangs.
Too bad for him, this fire panther has claws.
When Zane Blackthorn’s pack emerges from the Wild Territories and stakes claim to three of our settlements, I’m sent to negotiate.
But this isn’t your typical boardroom deal. This is a battle of wills between a diplomat who fights with words and a warrior who speaks in dominance.
Zane is six-foot-four of pure, intimidating male who moves like a predator and looks at me like I’m prey he wants to devour.
His golden eyes strip me bare, his voice rumbles through my chest and makes my panther purr against my will.
Then, mate recognition strikes us both during our most heated argument.
Now I’m supposed to negotiate with the one man destined to be mine, but he thinks I’m too “civilized” to be his equal.
Zane does not want a partner; he wants to “claim” a mate.
The claiming entails three days of surrender to our primal nature. No words. No walls. Just instinct, hunger, and fire.
I will have to abandon everything I’ve worked for… or turn into something far more dangerous.
But when the Mountain Bear clan marches towards Heaven’s Heart with deadly intent, I realize I must become the wildest thing in these mountains, while preserving some semblance of my diplomatic veneer.
Zane came to dominate. Now this Alpha is about to meet the beast I’ve kept caged.

Zane and Ember are diametrically opposed in their backgrounds and beliefs. Circumstances bring them together and they find they are fated mates. The story follows the struggle as they each try to protect their packs and ways of life and deal with the problematic bond. The character development is well done. The plot evolves in a believable fashion with a few leaps based on their own characters. The story parallels human struggles with hidden history, half truths, and fear of others. I really enjoyed the book.
Zane and Ember, a wolf shifters and fire panther shifter can’t fight the bond between them. However, with the failure of enchanted barriers emerging, wild shifters encroach on territories in a hostile manner. This complication added drama, excitement and emotional energy to a suspenseful plot that kept me on the edge of seat.

I loved this book! The characters on each side were strong, representatives of ancient traditions and newer traditions Coming together to ensure people are safe. Through alot of har d work and alot of sacrifice they work together to save everyone! Worth the readi, it was very interesting storyline and character interaction was well written. Sexual tension all around, and some twists I didn’t see coming. Enjoyable read. MAYBE Next will get the brothers story.
Ember and Zane try to ignore their mate bond. Ember is Ambassador for a civilized settlement. Zane is Alpha of a wild wolf pack. They enter negotiations to coexist while ignoring their mate bond calling of the bond. Great storyline, strong battles, sprinkled with some spice. My star rating is low due to minor discrepancies that my ocd can’t overlook. Although these do not take away from the overall story line. Regardless I would still recommend.
This book was interesting but still good. It definitely gave a new look on shifters from what other books traditionally show. For example, a fire panther. And the mating of different species. And the mating process. I definitely enjoyed this book. I read it all in one sitting within just a couple hours. I couldn't put it down.
I devoured this book! I loved the angst and the tension between the 2 main characters. The obstacles, the drama, the betrayal… loved it. If you want a good enemies to lovers, shifter romance this one is for you!
3.5 really. kinda slow, but it was one of the best virtual voice recordings I have heard. curious to see if it turns to a series, but cost will determine if I continue with it.
