Alright, thriller fam, if you haven’t met Alex Abrams yet, where have you been?!
Book 1 (Bryan’s Bluff) is all small-town vibes with big-time secrets. Alex, a homicide detective from New Orleans, rolls back into her Ozark hometown after a friend dies, and surprise, nothing’s what it seems. “Accidents” start piling up, people act shady, and just when you’re gripping the book like it owes you answers, BOOM. Cliffhanger from hell.
Enter Cooper’s Creek. And yeah, things get even wilder. It kicks off with a plane crash (because why not?), a missing cargo, and a dead pilot. Of course, Alex gets dragged right back into the chaos. But this time? Cartel connections, shady ops, and a betrayal that’ll leave you like, wait WHAT now?
Alex is that girl. Tough, stubborn, emotionally wrecked but still charging forward. She makes bad decisions sometimes, but honestly? Same. You’ll love her for it. She’s digging up truth bombs while dodging bullets (literally), and we’re just along for the ride, stressed and obsessed.
This series has everything: secrets, murder, small-town drama, high-stakes chaos and plot twists that will 100% ruin your trust issues. If you’re into thrillers that don’t slow down and heroines who don’t hold back, this is your sign to start reading.
Bryan’s Bluff sets the fire. Cooper’s Creek throws gasoline on it. And Devil’s Den (Book 3) is coming Jan 2026, so yeah, get ready. You’ve got time to binge, but not that much time. 😉
Cooper's Creek is the second book in the Alex Abrams series. This book wastes no time—it throws you straight into mystery, danger, and the kind of small-town secrets that make your skin prickle.
Alex Abrams returns in Cooper’s Creek, and she’s sharper, braver, and even more compelling than before. A plane crash in the Ozarks sets the stage, but it’s the emotional undercurrents—grief, betrayal, and the lingering ache of a lost friend—that drive the story forward. As Alex uncovers cartel connections and shadowy security teams, each revelation feels like a gut punch in the best way.
C.D. Sharpe writes with grit and grace. The pacing kept me flipping pages late at night, and the characters—especially Alex—are easy to root for, even when the choices get messy. It's a thriller that’s not just about uncovering truth—it's about reckoning with your past and deciding who you still dare to trust.
Thrilling, heartfelt, and satisfyingly twisty. I'm looking forward to book 3!
With thanks to C.D. Sharpe, the publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to read an ARC of this book.
Cooper’s Creek is a solid follow-up in the Alex Abrams series. I received a copy from Hasty House Publishing via Netgalley.
The story opens with a plane crash in the Ozark Mountains, and from there the story kicks into high gear—with cartel ties, betrayal, and a missing cargo that people are willing to kill for.
Alex is a great lead—smart, determined, and easy to root for. The story moves quickly, and while some twists were a bit predictable, there were still enough surprises to keep things interesting. The emotional stakes were strong, too, especially as Alex starts to question who she can trust.
Some of the side characters could’ve been fleshed out more, but overall, this was an exciting, well-written thriller. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in the series.
Book two in the Alex Abrams series sees the army vet still in her small Arkansas home town. New Orleans has lost its appeal and she is thinking about returning to her roots permanently. A plane crash changes the landscape in the small town, as it's linked to a drug cartel and to a close childhood friend.
A Mexican cartel running drugs, a missing shipment and a shady clean up crew grab Alex's attention as the small town of Summer Haven becomes the unlikely setting for a DEA operation. The result is a fast paced thriller with plenty of action and a fair few twists. Cooper's Creek is an excellent read - although reading the first novel is a must as there is so much back story here.
The second book in this excellent series featuring Alex Abrams. This book follows on directly from the cliff hanger ending of the first book and I would definitely recommend reading that before embarking on this one. This book is just as action packed as the first. Great characters and a good twisty plot. Another cliff hanger ending, so can't wait to read the next book in the series. A very entertaining read. I received a free review copy of the book from the publisher in exchange for my honest and unedited review.
This is another very good action packed thriller, book 2 in the Alex Abrams series. I would definitely recommend reading the first for background information. The characterisation is good and I liked the twisty plot which kept me guessing until the end. It's action packed, gritty and full of suspense as Alex tries to track down the leader of a ruthless cartel operating in her sleepy small town. I recommend the read to lovers of thrillers and I look forward to the follow up of book 3. Thanks to Net Galley for my ARC.
I was right, this is a great series! I am really glad I had a whole weekend to read this one; I could not put it down. I love Alex more with each story. She is amazing and not afraid to do what needs to be done. I love the characters, the action, and the plot. Again, the villains are sooooooo good. I cannot wait for the next one.
C.D. Sharpe does it again! Following the story of Alex Abrams (military turned homicide detective turned sheriff) and her life back in her hometown. The storyline keeps you guessing, but moves at a quick pace. She really stays one step ahead. Definitely a recommended read and can’t wait for the next one. Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC.
