Messenger of Death (Ouroboros Academy #2

Rate this book
The reincarnation of Loki informed me I had the most dramatic god reveal he's ever seen.

Yeah, most of Ouroboros Academy is saying that. They are also terrified. When my original gets reincarnated, something big is happening. If I get reincarnated with Liam's original, it's apocalypse level. Most of my group is associated with death and there's at least one chaos god who is back.

Students are dying and it doesn't make sense. The ones Khalid and I can feel die come to Khalid as the reincarnation of Anubis. Others just disappear without a trace. We only hear about it when someone reports it and there's no evidence when anyone looks into it.

You can hide a body, but you can't hide a murder around Khalid and I. So, where are all the disappeared students?

I enjoyed this latest book in the Ouroboros Academy series! The character development was great and liked seeing the relationships between Sage and her men grow. I wish the reveal of the antagonist happened a little sooner because it was pretty obvious from the moment the character was introduced in the first book so having to wait for that was a little frustrating. Learning more about Sage’s parents especially toward the end was nice though bittersweet. Overall I’m really looking forward to the next book.

Wow a great book. Alot of things to remember. I had to make notes. But in a good way.
Sage, Khalid and Liam pass out. Someone has been killed.
Liam enjoys Lucian being punched.
The professor knows who Sage's reincarnation is but she not saying and letting her figure out on her own.
Lucian keeps waking naked in Sage's bed, his animal brings him there while he is asleep.
They do not believe Ivar, Alexio and Ari attacked Lola.
The think Loa has been compulsed to not remember who attacked her because her story keeps changing about why she joined them as a team.
Mazen is protective of Lola. But she starts trying to make him jealous and get pregnant by him.
Blaize agrees they are not to blame though he sent a pic to Sage she did not want. So Lucian plans a revenge. It is epic.
Lucian sweetly keeps tract of Sage's blood sugar and make sure she eats when she needs to. She does not figures that he has access to her data on her blood sugar level.
Khalid and Sage are being to taught to see beyond the veil. Khalid so we can talk to Kira again, so they can get more info on who killed her.
Sage is told the Forsaken ones are back and they are voids, the devour everything destroying everything in their way. So that what is happening to the missing ones and the ones that went missing.
Sageis the Morrigan, a three women goddess and banshee. She can also foretell and might be key to figuring out the the Fosaken Ones. One the forsaken ones is not hard to figure out.
Liam has the guys go to the spa for some bonding, it kinda blows up in his face. He is the one most in pain.
Lola keeps hitting on Liam and goes so far to make it look like Sage is jealous of her because Liam "likes" her more. So people would questioned when Sage accuse Lola of being the bad person. Mazen protects Liam instead of attacking him.
Samhain, Sage gets visited by an important spirit they gives her more insight to her Mom and who the Forsaken Ones are.
They are unkillable and they have to figure how to stop them and permanently get rid of them.

I've been so excited for the follow-up to Keeper of Death; you just do not know. JB came through, Messenger of Death was incredible!

With Sage being so open and accepting, it didn't occur to me that she might have difficulty at the academy because of how she was raised. Sage is taking classes and searching for a supernatural killer without any background information. Most students at least have the basics, but Sage never studied things like mythology or read fantasy books. It's wild, but she's doing a pretty good job. I just wish she had more faith in her intuition.

The harem is progressing nicely. Lucian is adapting. He's actually starting to grow on me. My sweet Khaild went a little primal, and I loved it. Then there is Liam. He's Irish and a bit of a psycho, so he already had me. I don't know if I forgot, but he makes cupcakes and reads paranormal romances, and he makes me laugh. I am a goner.

This series started off fast and has not slowed down. There is a working theory in play. Sage is gathering the clues, and everything is starting to make sense. They said if Sage and her guys got reincarnated together, then shit was about to pop off. Well, guess what? Shit is starting to pop off. I didn't expect the plot to go this way, but I always knew who the villain was, and it seems I'm not the only one who has a problem with them.

I loved Messenger of Death. I finished it in one sitting. Towards the end, there was a great twist and a really bittersweet moment for Sage. The end is near. There is only one book left, and I cannot wait.

I'm really enjoying this series; its a quick read and both books have left me wanting more in this universe. The reincarnation theme is really well done and I like how half the mystery is who everyone is.

Liam is just so much fun; he is the most effervescent character I have read in a while. His "did we just bond?" moments cracked me up. The spa scene? Gold. And his bromances with Khalid and the reluctant Lucien? So funny. Lucien has nudged him out of the top spot though with all his scheming and plotting. I loved how Sage was patient with him as he lets his walls down; I can't wait for the reveal on how he actually knows when she needs a snack though!

I did find Sage's attitude a little odd though; why on earth was she not sharing her thoughts with her guys about the villain? Liam in particular would have believed her. I was thinking there was a double bluff coming but I am enjoying the other half of the mystery of who is pulling the strings. Didn't enjoy Lola though, she's awful; I'm interested to see how her actions towards a certain individual are addressed in the next book.

My interpretation of the star system;
3 stars - I enjoyed it; would read the author again
4 stars - I really liked it; I am invested and definitely want more from this author/series
5 stars - I loved it; I engaged with this book completely until I finished it and it is one I will re-read

Moves along better

Books 2 moves along much better than the first. Plot progressing better pace. Still love the characters, especially Liam. My main issue is how Lola was allowed to keep misbehaving in potions class and the teacher keeps making Liam deal with her. Then Lola is literally caught trying to rape Liam and nothing still done. They had several witnesses, illegal roofie potion, caught her lying and found she is trying to get pregnant. Even a teacher.. plus the class know she refusing to make birth control rock. That is another thing I'm confused on as I was under the impression the whole class made the birth control rock so wouldn't Liam or Mazen be safe from causing pregnancy in such situations? I understood they were waiting for proof first, now they have some, one would think it gives them some higher up protections. Only one brief mention of some kind of police and that person died. I would also think with the deaths and disappearances that some type of lawforce or even the elders would be involved. The book ends rather abruptly so maybe this will be dealt with. No means no! no matter guy or gal.

I read both so far but

I absolutely adore authors I am a avid reader and .love fantasy with smut :) These characters have no depth I feel like I'm being told without feeling!? I gave the second book a chance To see if there was any depth of characters or even situations,,, It's a cool concept And could have been amazing But it is lacking depth! Sexy times are not sexy because the feeling isn't even there; it's all matter of fact not romantic or sexy (groaned. Sage pushed me on my back. I usually liked to be in control with everything, but I didn’t mind this and I was curious what she would do. I’d been cyberstalking Blue Matthews in addition to the students here because I was trying to figure out how to bring him down. I never would) that is part of a scene,,, like WTF mood killer but description is totally void in this book..

Messenger of Death is the second book of the Ouroboros Academy series and jumps right back in. Starting after the scream, they are awakening in a dorm room where Headmaster Mykene, Professor Adamastus, Elliot, and Petros are waiting. While they try and figure out what Sage is, all hell is breaking loose. Where are all the missing? Sage, her men, and friends are going to have to solve the mystery before it’s too late. The characters all bring their own unique blend to the table, quite diverse. The reincarnation of the Gods is fun to read, how different they are, good or bad and why. We finally get a reveal to answers from the first book, some expected and some not. And like lambs led to you know where, we find ourselves at another cliff waiting for the next book to drop!.

Messenger of Death dives straight back into the chaos, picking up right after book one’s cliffhanger. Sage is discovering she’s the Morrigan—a powerful goddess with the ability to see beyond the veil—and possibly the key to stopping the terrifying, unkillable Forsaken Ones.
There’s a lot happening: surprise attacks, shifting loyalties, hilarious bonding fails, secret powers, and some seriously sweet (and spicy) moments—like Lucian waking up naked in Sage’s bed thanks to his animal instinct, or quietly tracking her blood sugar to take care of her. The revenge Lucian plans after Blaize crosses a line? Chef’s kiss.
Tense, emotional, funny, and full of reveals—this book had me hooked. Some answers finally come, but even more questions are raised, and the ending leaves you dying for the next one.

Good

Picking up where book one left off, we find out who Sage is the reincarnation of, and no prizes for guessing this one (because it's obvious!).
As she, Khalid, Liam and Lucian get closer, they have to try and figure out who is responsible for the dead and missing students.
Sage has her suspicions (which I share) and it's interesting to see what they learn.
The spice amps up in this book too, as Sage gets a little closer to her men.
It all ends on a hook, as the group learnw some very useful and interesting information. The third book promises to be quite explosive, and will round out Sage's story, and hopefully this big bad they're dealing with! I'm looking forward to the revelations and seeing how they face everything.

If you like urban fantasy with a why choose romance and an inventive, interesting story with an unusual plot, then this is a good series to read.

Book 1 was something I loved so much that I was really bummed that I had to wait for book 2.

My brain doesn't retain details, so I went into the book a little worried I wouldn't remember enough to slide back in (especially since I had some very strong suspicions that I did not write down - darn it). My worries were unfounded, as I found myself easily catching up.

Although the first book hit me stronger, I still enjoyed the second book and am looking forward to the next book. We know a little bit more, but the mystery is not solved.

This is an interesting world. I can't wait to spend more time there.

Messenger of Death is book two in the Ouroboros Academy series, and it picks up where book one, Keeper of Death, left off. I recommend reading book one first, otherwise, you will be lost. Right from the start, this fast paced action packed story is filled with danger, mystery, intrigue, captivating characters, steam, humor, unexpected twists, and so much more. Sage and her mates' story ends in a cliffhanger, so now we patiently wait for the next book to find out what happens next. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

This book is definitely an improvement over the first one. The lot moves along a lot better and it feels like progress is being made in the story. Sage is starting to come into her own and find her place. There are funny moments that I found enjoyable and I love the MMCs. My biggest critique is I wish there was more romance between the characters. Like obviously the FMC is into the MMCs and vice versa but there’s some romantic buildup missing from it all. I look forward to the next book in the series.

This is book 2 of Ouroboros Academy and picks up where book 1 left off. The students are reincarnations of gods both good and bad. Someone has killed a student and it up to Sage and her mates to figure it out before they can kill again. I love that the author writes characters that draw you in. The characters are complex and to fully enjoy this story I would recommend reading the first book in the series.

This one was a little bit much for certain things like Liam’s head talk was crazy and yes it can be funny but sometimes I don’t see the point !!! I still liked the book just thought it was longer then it needed to be and then there a 3 rd book that you know nothing about until you finish this book in utter shock because it a cliff you just got to
Please write fast I need the end and then I want to know the other stories

I really enjoyed this as a sequel in the Ouroboros Academy series, it had that element that I was looking for and enjoyed from this type of book. JB Trepagnier has a strong writing style and was able to create a strong plot and characters that I cared about. I enjoyed getting to read this and hope there is more in this world and from JB Trepagnier.

Ouroboros Academy are dying, and no one can work out how or why. Sage, LKiam and Khlaid are trying to work it out - but they are also figuring out their own reincarnations. Will they be able to solve the mystery?.

Absolutely Fantastic. I love Sage's story so far. Liam is a fave. I love his sense of humor. Lucian is a good character. First book didn't care for him to much but he does grow on you. Not happy about the cliffhanger though. Kinda excited to see what goes on with the rest of the characters in the next book.

I had to refresh my memory and reread book 2 for this one. I love the storyline. It’s twisty and complicated with some spice with our man characters. Moving forward with a reverse harem theme I’d like to see more intimate moments that show the depth and meaning behind each character.

Sage is coming into her own and has to learn to trust herself.

Her men are so different from each other it’s comical and Liam is my favorite.

A mix of lore and prophecy and paranormal and fantasy .. keeps you guessing.

I wanted to see what Sage was, so had to get book 2 after the way book 1 ended. I tried to like it, because I loved some of the banter between Liam and Lucian, but it just felt like hard work. I'm not feeling any real romantic connection, Lola doesn't make any sense and I cannot go any further. DNF 31%

Things are going off the wall for Sage, Liam, Khalid and Liam (plus alllllllll the other characters - there’s alot to keep track of). People are dying, reincarnations are occurring, plus these five are figuring out how to be a team together. This is one crazy build up!

This book 2 is still about Sage and her men. I have always though that Lola was suspect and that she is up to something. I loved how they got Mazen on their side and he was going to be the good Set. This series is amazing. I can't believe I have to wait until January to read the next one.
