Being kidnapped to a different realm where I'm in expected to rescue an entire collection of fully sentient unicorns would be hilarious if it weren't happening to me. And just when I think I've got a hold on how many mates I have, I'm wrong. This is fine. So picture the best plan we can come up with as I rescue my also-kidnapped-but-also-hidden mates, is to feed buttercream to the world's unhappiest unicorns. Strange, yes, but with positive results. Should be easy to figure this all out, right? I'm getting my happy ever after with all my mates whether I need to make a million unicorns make a mess of their pants first or not. Also, if you heard what Cory and I did in that arena, shut your mouth. No you didn't. It was necessary at the time, alright?
Kelsey Soliz is a homeschooling mama of four and army wife, and when she's not drinking copious amounts of tea or playing bassoon, she is dreaming up all kinds of romance story scapes or reading them like a maniac.
What do I think? I think this was.a HUGE waste of time and effort, and monies. The series started off half way to strong. It was good and funny. Up til maybe the third book in Delaney's story, it was all gravy and bearable.
And then... All hell broke lose.
Honest opinion?
I think that either the author went off her meds, or started new ones. Or someone ghost wrote for her because the rest of the series was an absolute TRAIN WRECK!
I now understand that Glittertopia, was indeed, purposefully written to emulate a child's mind but, what was the point? Also, it would have been an OK storyline if the author had written it as if Skylar was forced to act the way he was there, and was actually a real person in the real world but, no, we had to go with the my little pony impersonations. Glittery unicorns!? Really?! And we are expected to believe an unmediated adult wrote this? Yeah, I don't believe it.
Parts of this book would have been better, had they had more development, and creation but, alas, we do not get that.
Sent it rushed scenes and poorly executed smutt scenes.
Also, Wil!? In the other realm, in the last book, he and Del had sex in the shower, so idky the author made it so he was.a virgin again in this book.
And btw, his new deflowering, does anyone else.feel cheated out of his story in this book?
That scene at the temple.
Boring. I wanted more of a punishment for the lot of them, especially the mother. She was an epic bitch and deserved to get some karma action.
I would have also liked to see more development of her children. What did she have? Who were the fathers? The author invited these questions by having Del wondering in her journal, so why do we not get the answers?
I highly suggest, if you are considering this series, only read the first 4 books. Those are the proper story. Do not waste your time on the rest.
Again, this is just my opinion.
Take it or leave it.
I am beyond disappointed in this author. She was shaping up to be put on !y watch list but, with this utter garbage, I seriously do not want to do that anymore. I have zero faith that she can change my mind.
Books 5–9 of Hemlock Academy, following Delaney’s story, were… an experience. This is definitely not your usual why choose, and honestly, it never pretends to be. There are questionable elements - very questionable - and to be fair, they’re questionable the whole way through. So… yay for consistency? 😅
The best way I can describe this arc is: a touch of Game of Thrones (yes, the incest - let’s just call it what it is), mixed with The Vampire Diaries, and somehow… My Little Pony. I wish I were joking, but I am not. If you don’t take this story seriously and you’re just here for chaos and laughs, this might actually work for you. I spent a lot of time going “okay, that’s questionable” and still kept reading, so clearly it has something going for it.
That said, by the end I was mostly confused and reminded exactly why this part of the series took me so long to finish. I liked the first part of the series way more. Delaney’s story was just plain weird, and some of her guys were a hard no for me. Urgh.
I’ll admit it: I’m a sucker for a large harem, which is probably why I pushed through and finished. I’m glad I did for closure’s sake… but I’m also slightly traumatized, and not in a fun way. Let’s just say certain recurring elements (involving potatoes, goat appendages, twins, and cartoon vibes) were too much by the end.
Overall: glad it’s done, but this arc wasn’t for me - and I’ll be pretending parts of it live in a separate universe.
I absolutely love this book. I'm so happy Delaney got her unicorn. The Nine Inch Nasty is very fitting 😆😆😆 I hate that this is the end, yet have loved every moment of this series. Kelsey, you are an amazing author, and I love your imagination.
This book starts off in Glittertopia, and is just so...weird. The Fairygoddess just leaves you scratching your head at the best of times, and face palming at the worst. Delaney and crew have to figure out how to save the planet, and when the truth comes out, it's a doozy of a plot twist. Then there's a weird prophecy they have to face. And..so..much...smash times. I won't go further, because that'll give away everything. Just know that its an amazing ending to the book and series. Kelsey, love you girl, and I can't wait for your next book to come out. May your potatoes always be mashed, and your glitter edible and bursting in joy!
Sometimes I wish I could live in this author's brain... But I'm also fairly certain she's warned that it's a scary place, so maybe not? Either way, she's hilarious, and clever, and I'll always read her stuff. Nine Inch Nasty never tries to be anything more than it is, and that's fun. It's a fun story that had me cackling in an empty apartment with a side-eyeing feline. It was a fitting end for Delaney and her men. My *only* wish would be for an extended epilogue or a holiday novella so we can get to know her newest men a little better.
I absolutely loved this series. From the original Hemlock Academy, with Gabby and her men , to Delaney's crazy journey to find her guys. The ride you go on in this series is hilarious, steamy, sweet, sad, just plain crazy good. Now it's just time to read it all again. Hemlock Academy to Territory Walk, back to Hemlock. If you haven't gone on this journey yet, well, in my opinion, you're missing out!
I’m giving this 5 stars…overall. Told from all POV. This second series just wasn’t as good for me as the first 4. These seemed to jump all over in the storyline and I think my ADHD brain had difficulty focusing to really enjoy it. There were scenes that I really enjoyed and I honestly didn’t expect the ending, though the author has been known to write some pretty interesting (crazy) stuff, lol.
