Adam Gamble, is a writer, a photographer, and a publisher. He is the author of many books in the Good Night Books series, In the Footsteps of Thoreau, and A Public Betrayed. He lives in Sandwich, MA.
The Good Night series by Adam Gamble is very popular for young children. My wife purchased this book for our son as she was passing through the San Fransisco airport. We like to read it to our eldest son who sometimes misses our old home in Redding, CA.
So Good Night California is the longest book that I have read in these series. I am assuming it is so long because California is very big and known for a lot of things. It is a little difficult to get a 13 month old to focus on this book because of the length; however, I am sure he will be able to read the whole thing as he gets older. Of course the authors mentioned Hollywood, Lake Tahoe, Yosemite, and the Redwood trees. But, I am surprising that they did not mention Disneyland or Universal Studios. I feel like those are two big places that they missed. At the same time, I understand that the book was already long, so they probably couldn’t add anymore.
The Good Night book series is cute and make for great gifts. Unfortunately, there is so much more to cover in the California state themed book.
First of all, this should be named Good Night Northern California as all the references are of NorCal.
Disappointedly, the brown bear reference shows them at the zoo. They should have been in the mountains. I think most if the Good Night book series have a zoo reference.
I am glad CA farmers received well deserved recognition.
It would be nice if the Good Night book series include references to the state bird, flowers and/or flag.
The Good Night Our World series is universally terrible. Generic art, poor rhythm, getting by on feeble attempts to say "hey, this is about a place"!
It certainly sells. It just isn't very good. The California version feels perhaps even more tortured than the Oregon and Vermont versions, perhaps because it's longer.
A suprising lovely journey through the state of California, taking the reader along as we say, "Good Morning, Good Day, and Good Night" to California landmarks all the way from Death Valley to Lake Tahoe. A gentle ride from day to night, and a wonderful little keepsake for those born in this beautiful state.
A cute adaptation of "Goodnight Moon," although I'm not sure how we're expected to get from Hollywood to Sacramento in one day. A gift from our favorite babysitter, Joy.

California is such a magical place. California is one of the richest landscape on earth. The picture are good, I didn't think it captured the true beauty of California.
