Boston Boys #1

Unexpectedly You

Rate this book
Alex

Sometimes life is predictable. Mine certainly is, until I show up at the apartment of the girl I started dating, only to find another guy already there. When he informs me that he's her boyfriend I hightail it out of there. But when he becomes my new neighbor, I can't believe it. Getting to know him is making me realize just what a great guy he is. And even though I have always considered myself straight, there's something about him, or maybe several things, that have me second guessing myself, and wondering what it would be like to be more than friends with Bentley. I never expected to want him in a way I have never wanted another man before. But does he want me too? And can I risk the friendship we’ve built by telling him how I feel?

Sometimes life is predictable. And sometimes it's incredibly unexpected.

Unexpectedly You is an 80k word low angst MM romance featuring a double bi awakening, strangers to friends to lovers, mutual pining, a sassy feline, neurodivergent rep, demisexual rep, mental health rep (side character), an mc who knits, lots of swoon, feminization kink, panty kink, found family, and Supernatural references. It is intended for readers 18 and older.

mentions of the loss of parents and grandparents, mentions and discussions of anxiety and depression (side character)

Unexpectedly You? More like Unexpectedly Smutty, amiright? Ok, that sounded just as annoying in my head, but I STILL put it down! Anyway, holy smokes this book took a turn! This cover and the first 50% of this book give off some adorable vibes, with an interesting 'meet-cute' a super shy, blushing viking, and two guys that become fast friends over Supernatural and an adorable furr-baby. Then the spice hits and it is next level.

This is a low angst, double bi-awakening sweet read. For me, its just that perfect kind of read to fit in-between the dark romances. So refreshing.

Another book to the shelf, aka “God, I didn’t think I could possibly go another round after the way he wrung me out only minutes ago, but my dick is already perking up again.”

All the clichés, all the mushiness—I gobbled them up. But honestly, this book should come with a trigger warning for soreness. Because, babes… this is a SMUTFEST.

And let me be clear: this is a zero-angst book with such a thin plot you can practically see through it 👀—but hey, sometimes that’s exactly the vibe you want.

✨ What to expect (and absolutely love):

👬 Best friends to lovers
👵 Loves his gram (and parents!) ❤️
👨‍🍳 Cooks 🍜

🧶 Knits
🤠 Southern drawl
📚 Reads
📺 Obsessed with Supernatural
💆‍♂️ Professional masseuse 👀
🌈 Bi-awakening together
💌 Secret crushes
🔥 “Try everything once” energy
🌍 So hot together the world might implode
📖 Reads to his partner
🙌 Praise kink
🧪 Sex toy experiments (for science!)
📝 Naughty to-do lists
✋ Coming untouched
💋 Marking each other
🍑 Rimming, frotting, docking
🔄 Versatile
👙 Looks way too good in panties
💦 Enough precum to skip the lube

👎 Dislikes:
The second they start hooking up, the friendship dynamic I loved kinda fades. Also—brace yourself—pussy, cunt, tits make surprise appearances (hard pass). And Alex’s cum obsession? Borderline cringe. Like sir, licking underwear someone just came in? 🚩 That’s my line.

Sometimes it really felt like the author said: “I love ALL these tropes and kinks, so Alejandro and Bentley… prepare for war.” 😅 Which means, yeah—it’s a lot, all the time.

But… am I still nosey and already waiting for Tommy, Pierre, and mystery older guy’s book? Absolutely 👀

Unexpectedly You is book one in the Boston Boys series. This MM romance story is about Alex and Bentley.

Alex is the sweet and outgoing guy that works at a bar owned by his family. Bentley is the super shy southern guy who is a massage therapist and owns his own business. The first time Alex and Bentley meet was definitely not a meet cute. Unfortunately it was awkward and a bit uncomfortable. But they get past it and actually end up becoming neighbors and eventually so much more.

Alex and Bentley spend more time together and become fast friends. I loved how they were able to share their hobbies with each other, especially reading and watching Supernatural. They both considered themselves straight, so they were confused when they both started to find each other attractive. We end up seeing Alex and Bentley pining for each other. They both are afraid to admit they have feelings for each other because they don’t want to risk their friendship. But once they do finally give in, they are incredibly hot together.

Alex had a wonderful family and Bentley had a fierce best friend Peyton. And it was fun to read about Alex’s sassy cat Marble. Alex and Bentley were two of the sweetest guys and definitely deserved to be happy together. If you enjoy a love story that is low angst, sweet and spicy, then you should check this one out.

I received an advanced copy of this book, and this is my honest review.

This book sounded so promising based on the tropes, and it started strong with a perfect meet-cute and a few genuinely hilarious moments. But as I continued reading, it turned into one of the slowest slow burns I’ve read and not in a way that worked for me. Normally I don’t mind a slow burn, but in this case, we didn’t really get to see the romance grow. While it was clear both characters had crushes on each other, there weren’t enough of those subtle moments or meaningful touches that usually build tension or make the characters (and reader) start to question and hope.

Then, around the 55–60% mark, things flipped entirely. The story went from dragging to being almost entirely focused on smut. Because I hadn’t connected with the characters as a couple by that point, the abrupt shift made it harder to buy into their chemistry. I think if they had slowly explored their relationship, I might have felt more invested in their connection.

Another issue for me was the heavy focus on Tommy, his husband, and their potential third. I understand the intent may have been to build interest for a future book, but their subplot often felt like it overshadowed the main couple’s story.

Overall, this was a cute concept, but the pacing just didn’t work for me I wish there had been a more balanced development between the slow burn and the spice.

***ARC Review***

This is my honest and voluntary review.

Alex and Bentley have an interesting meet cute that features a little bit of a shock. That said, this story is pretty low angst and all around adorable. I enjoyed the pop culture references in this book (Gah do I love Schitt’s Creek) and the fact that Bentley and Alex seem destined to be close, both proximity wise (neighbors) and emotionally. I appreciate how they turn an awkward situation into a friendship, and how that friendship slowly blooms into something more. Once things take a turn for the physical, the spice is definitely spicing in this book.

I appreciate the different kids of rep in this book (neurodivergent, demi, mental health) as well as the found family vibes. Peyton is a great side character and best friend. This story will make you swoon from the cuteness and blush from the kinks (in the best way possible of course). You should definitely check it out!

Unexpectedly You is the first book in the Boston Boys series. This is the story of Alex and Bentley. The guys meet when Alex goes to pickup the girl he's dating and Bentley is dating the same girl. This was just the cutest double bi awakening story ever. Felicity Snow has outdone herself with this sweet couple. I love how real they are with their different interests. I loved seeing them go from friends to more and watching their relationship grow. The steam level was off the charts with these two. I can't wait for the next book in the series. I would definitely recommend this book.

These two are such cuties! They're so very adorable and perfect for each other.
Bentley is a massage therapist while Alex works as a bartender in his parents' bar. They met by accident and found out they were dating the same girl. A few days later, Bentley moves into his new apartment right in front of Alex's one.
Once they clear the air for good about the girl, they start an adorable friendship, spending all their free time together, watching tv show, reading, cuddling the cat and continuously texting.

When they realised they had feelings for each other, they were very scared to lose their precious friendship, so they take their time to be finally open about that.

What prevented me from giving a higher rate:
Alex and Bentley have always identified as straight and their bi awakening comes too sudden. After just a couple of week of hanging out together, they start feeling attraction toward each other that was too strong for two guys who, until then, had never noticed other men before.
Moreover, Alex seems to describe himself as demi, talking about needing emotional connection before feeling attraction. And I found unlikely that he could form this kind of bond with Bentley in such a short time.

Tommy and Pierre, Alex's brother and brother in love, are great side characters. But their story (they're looking for a third) and their feelings about Cyrus takes too space here. I believe they deserved to have their own book where the author could have further explored their story.

Alex's parents and Peyton, Bentley's best friend, are all amazing, I liked very much how supportive they were.
I particularly liked Bentley's talks with her Grandma's picture: my heart broke for him, he missed her so much and he talked to her to feel like she was still close to him.

The end is sweet and satisfying and I liked very much the epilogue.

I received an ARC of this book from the author and this is my honest review.

🌶🌶🌶🌶

Strangers to friends to lovers
Double bi-awakening
Feminization
Neighbors
Low angst

These two were cute

Alex and Bentley meet when Alex goes to his dyes door only her boyfriend answers the door instead

Then they have a few run ins and eventually Bentley moves in across the hall from Alex

The two strike up a friendship with cute common interests

“We’re pebbling each other.”“Pebbling?”“Yeah, like sending each other gifs and memes and stuff. Penguins do it.” She looks at me like I’ve lost my mind. “Penguins text each other?”“No, they give each other pebbles as a sign of affection, and when people send texts or gifs or memes or whatever to each other, it’s called pebbling.” I show her my phone. Her smile gets so big she looks like the fucking cheshire cat as she scrolls through the texts. “Oh my God,” she says. “You guys are totally flirting.”

Alex's family was wonderful

I adored how they both wanted each other but we're certain the other one was straight

These two were adorable
Once the spice started spicing boy did it ever spice lol

“About a year and half ago I met this really amazing guy in kind of an unlikely way, and it turned out he was the best thing that ever happened to me. He told me once that penguins are the most romantic animals, and since our relationship started with a penguin, well I figure we should continue it with one, too.” I have more tears spilling down my cheeks as he continues. “I don’t consider myself a particularly intelligent person. I’m a simple guy. I may not know a whole lot. But I know I love you with every part of me.” His eyes fill with tears and he clears his throat. “To borrow from Jane Austen’s Mr. Darcy, ‘You have bewitched me, body and soul, Alex Florez-Romano. And I wish from this day forth to never be parted from you.’” He takes another breath. “Will Alex marry Bentley?”

Looking forward to the next book in the series

Poor Alex simply wanted to meet someone and he ended up on a date with a cheater!! And Bentley just wanted to be nice and make dinner for his girl after her so called hard day. Meeting at her place was such an awkward meet cute but I did laugh.

The penguin is too cute and Bentley using it to hide from Alex is adorable. So is all the blushing Bentley does.

The friend dates are cute and I love that one is a reader and one is heavy into his favorite shows. It gives them the ability to share their interests. I love Alex reading to Bentley and Bentley knitting while introducing Alex to Supernatural. I can’t with the two!

Side note: Cleaning snow off my car without any provocation and simply just because you know it’ll help me hits on my love language. Bentley is so sweet.

I had a great time with this book and getting to know the other characters was a great!
Love Marble, fierce bestie Peyton was everything and Alex’s family was amazing. Every one was hilarious and supportive and there’s so much love. I had a great time reading this.

I devoured this book. The development of their friendship into more than that before they officially called it anything was cute though, with the “pebbling” like penguins do and the sharing of the cat. I loved the journey from strangers to friends to more. With both of them previously identifying as straight it was a bit of a rough back and forth of each of them coming to terms with the fact they were not straight and then both of them believing it wasn’t possible the other was feeling the same since they were straight. And you kinda wanted to shake them. It was a super slow burn but then once they both knew they liked each other though it was all spice all the time, pedal to the floor, and some scorching hot and kinky scenes, with a very sweet and satisfying end. I believe the brother and his husband and their pursuit of their third might just be the next book. Even with the spoilers, I’m looking forward to seeing how it all happened and where they might end up.

(I hope to one day expand on this review, but my mental capacity lately is just not allowing for it. Apologies to the authors of the books I’ve been reading. )

This was so cute!

From a terrible meeting to ending up as neighbors and then slowly (maybe not slowly) falling for each other but being afraid to lose the other person as a friend and a relationship that becomes as natural as breathing.

Their relationship starts with penguins and continues with penguins, the only thing that bugged me a bit was it went from being a slow burn almost to extremely fast paced and almost rushed

I got an ARC of this book but all thoughts are my own

Alright, let's get this started - the spicy scenes are off the charts, burning down the house, level hot! Alex and Bentley are, hands down, the most ridiculously sweet and sexy couple ever. Bentley's got that adorable southern charm and a bashful yet sexy side, while Alex brings the heat with his dirty mouth and sweet side. Seriously, Felicity Snow hit it out of the park again!

I loved Bentley and Alex, and I loved the buildup to their more intimate and romantic relationship. They were both incredibly sweet, and I enjoyed watching their friendship grow and blossom into something more. Weirdly, once they got together and the sex started, which wasn't until after the 50% mark, usually one of my favourite parts, I instead wanted more story and less sex. I think I just enjoyed their friendship so much that I didn't need much sex in this case, but it was nice seeing them explore this new side of themselves with each other and finding out what each of them liked in the bedroom. I enjoyed the addition of Alex's brother and his husband, and the potential for them to add a third to their relationship. I'm guessing this will be the next book in the series, and I'm looking forward to that.

1st person, present tense, dual PoV
Alex Florez-Romano (29), bartender at Johnny's
Bentley Emerson (32), massage therapist, owner of Dreamscape Massage

First, I need to say that this is an adorable cover.

Alex and Bentley, while sweet and adorable, were not engaging enough to carry their own book and as a result I was more interested in the side characters, namely Alex's brother, Tommy, and his husband, Pierre, and their almost-third, Cyrus, that they were trying to invite into their relationship. That the author devoted such a considerable amount of page time to another couple's story to the point it completely overshadowed the main couple we are supposed to be reading about really impacted my enjoyment of the book since I mostly lost interest in the MCs I was supposed to care about.

After the excellent meet-cute Alex and Bentley coast along, hanging out watching Supernatural and reading classic novels, until they finally admit their more-than-a-friend feelings toward one another around the mid-point of the book, then we switch gears and it's a pretty continuous revolving door of scotching hot sex scenes.

Still, I thought it was a cute and easy romance, with no angst, drama, or plot. Sweet early on with 'pebbling' and a possessive cat. I enjoyed the transition from strangers, to friends, to more. It was super spicy in the second half with some seriously hot scenes. Sadly though, throughout the book, I found myself getting distracted by other things and the pacing made the book feel considerably longer than it should have been for the story it was trying to tell.

Did I enjoy the story? Sure. Will I still read the next book? Yes. But I'm also going to be salty that so much of it was spoiled in this story since I'm sure we'll see Tommy, Pierre, and Cyrus again.

I was given an ARC and voluntarily wrote an honest review.

Imagine a meet cute that in hindsight is pretty adorable though in the moment it is seriously awful. Well Alex and Bentley have that meet cute but at the time it's a serious meet ugly. But a few awkward run-ins that turn into becoming neighbors, turns strangers into friends then lovers. Add cat dadhood into the mix and you have a recipe for a great story. Well this is Felicity Snow so you will also get off the chart hot and passionate times. They are seriously hot and a cool cloth close by will be a must. The best aspect to this story IMO is the realistic( IMO as someone who hasn't experienced it) double bi-awakening. Both men have discovery periods separately that are hilariously portrayed in the story but once the guys get their stuff together, the way the work to discover their like and dislikes which evolves to safe but fun kink exploration. Each man finds the things he enjoys, expresses the things he does not and their willingness to try most things at least once takes the story to great heights.

Alex and Bentley are a great couple and watching them obliviously fall then out loud claim one another is so interesting. I love a good, "we've been waiting for you two to figure out you want to be together" story and this one does but disappoint. This is a story that you will not want to miss. I am going to sacrifices to the audio spirits because this deserves to be heard but in the meantime add to your TBR and make sure you have access to cooling techniques because you will need them.

Don't get me wrong- I really enjoyed this book. But it was a bit of a switched flip halfway through.

Let's discuss.

Girl cheats on boy a with boy b. Girl gets kicked to the curb. But boy a and boy b keep running into each other. Including boy a moving in across the hall from boy b.

And that is how Alex and Bentley quickly become bff. Even with pretty opposite schedules they find time to hang out. EVERYONE knows that they want each other. Except them. Both previously identified as straight until, well, feelings.

So we spend half the book being all cute and hanging out and pining and heart eyes and hanging out and becoming co-parents to Alex's cat. It's adorable. ADORABLE.

And then feelings are finally admitted to each other and holy hotness! They scorched my kindle! It's like they each discovered a toy similar but different to one they have. And they are eager to please each other and try new things. They even made a list of things they want to try. Which is, admittedly, still pretty cute. But the story went from PG13 to NC17 halfway through and there was no going back.

I still really enjoyed the characters and the journey each took to discovering their bisexuality. The way they so quickly became friends just solidifies their relationship for me.

Fun side characters including Bentley's best friend and Alex's parents, brother and brother in law. Although I gotta say I really want Tommy and Pierre's story too!

Fun, sexy, easy read. Perfect summer book.

DNF at 75%

I was excited for this book as I love the friends to lovers trope and double bi-awakening. But it didn’t work out for me.
I kinda knew from chapter 2 that this book will not work for me when Peyton, Bently’s best friend, said to him and I quote “Maybe you’ll find a gorgeous woman with big tits that can take your mind off of Stacy”. The language felt cheap to me but I carried on. But unfortuantely it didn’t get better to me. I liked that they hung put with each other and formed a friendship but when they started feeling the attraction, things went downhill again. Since everything was focused on spice, even before the two MMCs got together physically. They were constantly horny for each other and taking matters into their own hands. To quelch their bi awakening and undestand it, Alex experiments on deepthroating a banana and Bentley shoves a brand new flesh colored dildo into his ass. The whole thing felt off to me. And when they got to admit their attraction around 60% and be together, it’s non stop spicy scenes after that. And the spicy scene also felt off, and didn’t fit. The word vomit during the spice is too much. And at 75%, when they started referring to Alex’ hole as pussy and cunt all of a sudden, I couldn’t continue anymore. The whole spice and kinks felt weird and off and not fitting.

And don’t let me forget about the subplot and how much we talked about Alex’s brother Tommy, his husband Pierre and their potential 3rd.

Alex and Bentley's story starts off with them both finding out their girlfriend was cheating on them...with each other. Following that these two seemed to keep running into one another no matter where they went, which all leads to Bentley moving in across the hall from Alex's apartment. I was definitely getting meet-cute vibes even if it wasn't technically a meet-cute, it still conveyed that same feeling. I thought these two had chemistry together, I liked how they really nurtured their friendship and took the time to get to know one another.

The bi-awakening both of these men had I thought was written well, and while I wished these two just talked to each other early on, I understand why Felicity had them wait before they had that conversation. I also enjoyed how important the side characters were, they had such big roles and I really enjoyed that.

The only reason why I didn't rate it higher is because I don't personally love a bunch of steamy scenes, and once these two admitted their feelings, it was full steam ahead with all the spicy times. (Again, that's a me thing, I know a lot of people like there to be a good amount of spice, but for me I skimmed through those moments.)

Overall though I thought this was a sweet best friends to lovers, bi-awakening, next door neighbor romance!

this book had so much potential. I really enjoyed the book for the first 65%. the characters' chemistry was evident, and I appreciated the prolonged build up between friendship and relationship. however, the outline of the plot felt chaotic. there was no spice in the first half of the book; it focused on plot building and bi awaking, which I actually didn't mind. yet once the relationship was established, there was no more plot and was instead all smut. I'm not even exaggerating. every fifth or sixth page after the 65% mark was smut. and the smut scenes were awkward, which made the last part of the book super long. the characters' personalities and voice/tone seemed to change during the smut scenes, and there was an abundance of dialogue during the smut scene that began to grt annoying, too. I honestly was shouting in my head for Alex to just shush already. there were maybe too many excentricties during the smut scenes, too--foot fetishes, and multiple scenes of sniffing/licking used undies/body fluids.

I'm disappointed because the author definitely has a good writing style and has the ability to write good books, but it almost felt like she was fetishizing gay men and/or didn't research enough before writing it, and that led to writing poor spicy scenes.

I may give another of her books a chance because, like I said, she definitely has potential.

Alex meets Bentley when he goes to pick up the girl he has been dating. Imagine his surprise when he meets Bentley, the girl's current boyfriend! Alex and Bentley both break up with Stacey, shocking, I know. Thank goodness they never have to see each other again. How embarrassing would that be.

The universe has other plans: Bentley is shocked when, after moving into his new apartment, he realizes the guy living across the hall is the guy that his girlfriend cheated on him with. Even though they met until crazy circumstances, they soon become best friends, until unexpectedly, they both want more.

This book is adorable. I absolutely loved the progression from slight enemies, to best friends, to more. I loved each of their individual journeys and discoveries. The supporting cast is lovely as well.

This is a neighbours to more romance, featuring Alex and Bentley, and is book one in the Boston Boys series.

Alex’s life takes an unexpected turn when he discovers his girlfriend already has a boyfriend—who later becomes his new neighbour. As their friendship deepens, Alex begins questioning his sexuality and wondering if risking it all for Bentley could lead to something more.

This was such a funny, feel-good read with a slow-burn romance that had me grinning the whole way through. Both Alex and Bentley are crushing hard and pining like crazy, which makes every interaction deliciously tense. There are so many laugh-out-loud moments (cough – banana) balanced perfectly with heart-melting sweetness. When the slow build finally tips over into explosive spice, it’s absolutely worth the wait for their swoony HEA.

Things to expect in this book are:
Book 1 in series

Slow burn
Neighbours to best friends

Both secret crush & pining

Alex and Bentley meet under not so ideal circumstances - Bentley has arrived at his dates house to pick her up, only for Alex to answer the door, who was there making a surprise meal for his girlfriend..

They continue to bump into each other, Bentley trying (and failing) to hide everyone but when he moves into his new apartment, guess who his new neighbour is 😝 But Alex clears the air, and they end up becoming really good friends - and both have secret feelings for each other, both thinking the other is straight and pining away!

After Alex walks in on Bentley.. seeing to some self love while saying Alex’s name, he figured there’s more happening and he’s going to tell Bentley his feelings - but Bentley is avoiding him again!

These two were so fun to read, the sweetness and fluffy cuteness left such a good feeling! But they were also interesting and supportive, and all sorts of hot as heck while exploring their new found attraction to each other - including lists of things they want to try!

ARC Review – Unexpectedly You by Felicity Snow

I went into this book expecting a cute, feel-good romance — and what I got was so much more. Unexpectedly You is a warm, quietly powerful story that gently unravels into something truly memorable.

At its heart, this is a story about connection — unexpected, tender, and beautifully slow. The romance builds naturally from first glances and shared silences to a bond that feels unshakable. The emotional vulnerability between the characters is written with such softness and sincerity, you can’t help but root for them.

Felicity Snow’s writing is filled with gentle humor, thoughtful representation, and characters you’ll genuinely miss when the book ends. Whether you’re in it for the sweet bi-awakening journey or the soft domestic feels, this book delivers.

Highly recommended — especially for readers who crave softness, emotional intimacy, and slow-burn MM romance that just feels real. 💛

Alex & Bentley were just pure sugar. After they meet rather unfortunately, these two just keep running into each other! When Alex ends up moving in across the hall from Bentley all bets are off and these two become close friends fast. Between supernatural marathons, reading, cooking together and Alex pretty much getting joined custody of Bentleys cat, their connection just keeps getting deeper! When both start getting more physical feelings toward each other they need to decide if they want to keep their friendship how it is or risk taking it to the next level!

This was a slowish burn, but oh then it burned😂 Bentley and Alex are just the sweetest and they both really needed a good friend in their life. I loved how they took so much interest in what the other was into. Their double bi-awakening and all the little k*nk exploration that came with it was so delicious! Also any book that heavily references SPN is a winner in my eyes! Such a gorgeous read!

Thank you so much Felicity Snow for this ARC.

Unexpectedly You is book 1 of the Boston Boys Series. This one follows Alex and Bentley.
This one was super adorable and hot at the same time. Alex and Bentley are super sweet and romantic but in the bedroom holy they are dirty boys 🥵
Alex is sweet and outgoing and works in his family’s bar with his brother. Bentley is a shy southern guy who owns his own business as a massage therapist.
Alex and Bentley meet in an awkward way. Alex went to pick up a date who turns out was dating Bentley at the time. Then later Bentley moves in to the apartment across from Alex and they become instant friends. The more they hang out and get to know each other the more they realize that they are developing feelings for each other. And their attraction towards each other grows.
They have insane chemistry. Their relationship is super cute. The spice is hot!🥵 and I’m excited for the next one.
