He’s rich, ruthless, and London’s most eligible Alpha. She’s broke, stubborn, and definitely not interested. Too bad fate doesn’t care.
Evie Williams has no time for alphas, especially ones like Axel Andino. He’s arrogant, entitled, and part of one of the most powerful family packs in the country; meanwhile, she’s just trying to survive her hospital shifts without losing her scent-patches, her pride, or her temper.
But a chance encounter turns into something else a scent-match. It's a bond neither of them saw coming, and now they can’t stay away from each other.
Evie wants nothing to do with Axel’s world of black-tie events, bodyguards, and five-figure watches. Axel can’t understand how an omega like her doesn’t want to be spoiled rotten, worshipped, and knotted until she can’t think straight.
They clash, they combust, they kiss like they’re fighting for air - and fight like they’re dying to kiss again. But when instinct threatens to overtake logic, and bond starts to feel dangerously like love, Evie has to ask herself the one question she’s been
What if belonging to him doesn’t mean losing herself?

I think one of the reasons that I love this novel is because the MMC is not the standard, Me. Alpha. Mine. grunty MMC that is normally portrayed in the single paring OV books. He's also not the strong silent type, which is the other standard. No. This alpha is fussy. He's posh. He really enjoys creature comforts and his idea of roughing it is wearing a polyester blend. And yet, he falls first. He's committed. Invested. And he will move heaven and earth to make the FMC happy.

5 stars
Oh, I loved this overly dramatic alpha and his cautious, semi grumpy omega. I can't wait to read the next in this series.
“I wouldn’t bother trying to play hard-to-get, Red. When it comes to games, I’m disgustingly competitive. And for what it’s worth, I always win.”
I really enjoyed this author's writing and found it engaging and fun. The banter was actually funny and not trying too hard. The editing was great and I didn't realize until after I finished that I didn't even notice any errors. This book is solid.
It also made me realize what I've been missing in far too many OMV lately: the integration of A/B/O dynamics into their colloquialisms and idioms. Sure, authors will build a society around these dynamics, but in this book the characters were actually speaking as if that was the norm. Idk how to better explain this to I'm just going to leave a few examples below (I didn't catch them all).
This would have been a 4 or 5 star for me if more had been established to show change in the billionaire alpha that couldn't even sit in a public hospital without basically sneering at everyone around him and trying to throw his money around. The blurb talks about the FMC denying him because she doesn't want that fancy, glitzy life, but let's be clear: she HARDLY denies him. She wants him from the first moment, before she even knows him at all, and barely fights herself on it. I actually hate billionaire romances and was hoping this wouldn't be too bad. I'm some ways it wasn't, but in other ways it didn't address any of that trope's biggest issues.
But they do banter back and forth nicely. The "meaner" her words get, the more the MMC melts, and I love to see it. He also didn't let her get intimidated by his life. She ran but he didn't let her run far.
NEED to read the brothers' books. Too bad I'll have to wait. 😭

Quotes for my point above:
"Women don’t say no to me. They don’t sniff me and then dismiss me like I’m late-stage flu. They don’t blink once, look unimpressed, and go back to checking charts like they’re not scent-matched to the walking solution to all their problems."
“Are we talking about the same girl, here?” he asks. “The one who looked at you like you were a swollen gland with a wallet?”
“That’s not just testosterone on wheels. That’s alpha audacity dipped in wealth and wrapped in scent-triggering arrogance. I swear I can smell it from here.”
“This isn’t just any alpha. This is an alpha who introduces himself by name and bloodline.”
“I thought omegas liked it when their alphas protected them?!” “Not when it comes with road rage and verbal abuse, you packless prick!”
Ehh, I wanted to love it, but it sounded too robotic for my liking. Evie was snarky and gave black cat energy at first, but then she just seemed to blend in with the pages and became just a tame, simpering omega someone you'll forget quickly about. Axel was annoying, pushy, and emotionally constipated.
Honestly went into this not expecting much, and came out dying for book two.
The book is very well written, no noticeable issues. Pacing is excellent-- I was nervous about halfway through the book that the end would drag, but it really didn't.
But the real winning part is the characters. I absolutely adore Axel and Evie. They're so at odds with one another, and they antagonize each other endlessly, but they both love it. Evie is a total grump (with good reason) and Axel is posh and arrogant and other words I can't write in review. And they're just absolutely perfect for each other!
And the spice was 🥵🥵🥵
Devoured this book in about a day and impatiently waiting for book two!
You know, I have never laughed so hard (in a GOOD way) reading an omegaverse. This was smart, funny. Cute. It got to the end and I was like…it can’t be over yet! It’s too short!! This is a 400 page book. You find yourself WANTING to meet these characters and see into their lives. It was really cool - normally I’m not a billionaire romance girlie, but this? Well worth the read!
I wish this had higher reviews! It’s a bit different from most omegaverse since it’s not pack based, but I found the new angle refreshing. It’s well written, low drama and was a refreshing read. I’m excited to continue the series!
It's the oddest moment where you finish a book and have your own existential crisis because you can't decide how you feel about the book. Honestly, just call me Evie because the FMC and I can have a matching set of irrational waffling.
I liked Evie as an FMC. I hated her "I want him. I despise him. I need him. He'll destroy me" themes. None of it has any supportive rationale. It takes about 300 pages before we see any reason for her to like Axel beyond how he smells. At the same time her rationale for avoiding him is contradictory of itself. She's smart and capable and has a backbone, most of the time. I like her but she's the FMC so we should love her by the end and I don't. Axel is an ok MMC but barely. He spends the vast majority of the book being everything Evie*should* be averse to - controlling, manipulative and entitled. In fairness though, he doesn't seem to have any true malice, he's just lacking a bit in the self awareness department - he knows he's privileged but has zero clue when he's insulting with that privileged entitled attitude. I like him but again , don't quite get to love him by the end of the book. The side characters almost do their job. Almost. I kinda love Lance in all his messy very young adult glory. Beth seems like she would be the awesome female bestie all FMCs need but we don't see as much of her as I would like. Timothy, Eli and Ev are all good but barely introduced, although T does get major bonus points in his first page with immediately recognizing Evie's worth. Shaun seems to have a ton of potential but again, we don't get as much character interaction as a 400+ page novel should provide. Milo is the male counter to Beth; is he a great friend or just a hanger-on? Jury is still out since he doesn't do much beyond listening and adding some snarky humor. The humor is spot on. Snarky banter for the entirety of 400+ pages that left me snorting and highlighting with a bit of joy. I think the humor is half of why I do like the book. The editing is also elite. I didn't notice a single typo or odd term, regardless of the slightly smushed American-British colloquial puzzle. Usually I would say pick a lane but, the author made it work, despite the irrationally demanding expectations of their arc readers. Honestly people, if you can't broaden your slang horizons with fiction, you should go read histories and leave the entertainment to the rest of us.
My biggest complaint is the ridiculous seesaw love/hate melodramatic nonsense. Removing the waffling would leave us with one hell of a novella. That said, I am 100% looking for Eli's book when it releases.
Evie is a nurse working in a hospital that is underfunded, she's overworked, and burned out. As she struggles through her shift, she meets Axel Andino, a wealth Londoner who is forced to wait for medical treatment for his younger brother Lance. He tries to bribe Evie to move them quicker through triage. That's when the two realize they are scent matched. The problem is that they come from two very different worlds, they try to make each other happy hoping that they can come together and have a happy relationship. I enjoyed this a lot, I finished it in about 18 hours, I found it romantic, spicy, and some of the best banter I have read recently. It of course has a happily ever after with great characters, a simple but good storyline, the only way this couple could fail was if they gave up on each other. I gave this 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐, it would not register.
I had to DNF this book. There wasn’t a single attractive feature to the MMC. He was childish, filled with toxic masculinity, incredibly classist, and written to be all of these things as though the author did so intentionally so he would have to work harder to win the FMC. But the author used the omegaverse to undercut that all together. So we end up with the FMC just overlooking how god awful SHE even finds this atrocious person simply because of biology.
Why would I want to read a book where the literal only reason the FMC can bear to be around the MMC is because of a biological imperative??
It was written where it felt almost non-consensual and honestly made my skin crawl.
Loved it! Evie has no desire to be bonded due to her past, but Axel is a determined alpha; spoilt, rich and amazing in bed! Spicy with depth and laugh out loud moments. The character growth is very well written and I didn’t want to put it down. I’d say it’s very much 50/50 billionaire and omegaverse and I loved that. It doesn’t try too hard to ram the point that Axel is filthy rich like some billionaire books do, but we definitely know he is. I can relate to Evie. It’s hard to risk it all and Axel handles her so well. I enjoy billionaire romance and omegaverse so this ticked all my boxes and I’m here for the next book!
I enjoyed this more then I thought I would. The omegavwrse itself is strange, the way it all works, but all authors have their own interpretation and this worked in its own way. Subtley was not this mmc's strong point, he was so dramatic. It worked but at times his tantrums felt a wee bit child like for someone who was supposed to be almost 30. Over all excellent story, spoilt rich boy find his scent match in the least expected place, she has to find a way to fit into his world, while also maintaining her own intigrity. Great read, good characters, and compelling plot.
I will be honest, I was close to dnf'ing this but NOT because it wasn't well-written. I liked the fact that Axel sort of stumbled around and got his ego put into check by Evie. What I'm not a fan of - and this is just MY personal reading opinion - is miscommunication/ghosting for not communicating.
So I admit, I was alllllmost there. But I'm glad I stuck it out.
Obviously there's an HEA but there's definitely a little drama, push/pull before they get there. It was definitely more about the relationship and their differences than the alpha/omega part (it's there, just not quite as emphasized in my opinion).
Great fun! Thoroughly enjoyed my first Missy Darling book. Evie is a poor struggling nurse, who has a chance encounter with the hot alpha billionaire Axel Andino in the accident and emergency department. Let’s just say it’s not exactly love at first site and Axel seriously annoys her! So many laugh out loud moments and I was grinning from ear to ear when Evie was calling him in the pub! The spice is top tier and I was hooked. I couldn’t put it down and read it through the night! Absolutely loved it and am excited for the next!
Ahhhhhhh, this left me all cute in the right places. Banter is soo good! I like that Evie doesn’t submit easily & her back story explains why. I just get Axel. Yep I know he’s a rich A-hole, but I fell hard! The pack was introduced slowly & I cannot wait for each brother’s story. Spice level is perfect & the plot had me reading this in a day! Have to say the epilogue dragged me right in so now I’m panting for more! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I’ve read so many RH lately, I really enjoyed this MF take on Omegaverse. It was a breath of fresh air, very well written and surprisingly funny. The banter is fantastic and I’m very happy to hear that the second book in this series is due out soon so I don’t have to wait (impatient reader that I am!) Keep going Missy Darling. I love your writing!!
This book was an absolutely brilliant read. The banter between the characters was amazing and highly amusing and I made the book truly enjoyable. I loved the characters, and the story had me on a rollercoaster of different emotions. I would highly recommend giving this book a read.
The banter between these 2 is everything! I thoroughly enjoyed it. Just the right amount of spice for the book and I feel like I am Evie or she is me! Now I just need to find my own Axel. Can’t wait for book 2!!!!
I really enjoyed this book. The humor was spot on and I found myself laughing throughout the book. This series promises to be quite entertaining and I look forward to book two.
A happy surprise. I didn’t know the author so I’m not sure what I expected but I really enjoyed it! I didn’t expect it to be this funny. Axel amused me like a lot. I found his tempers OTT and Evie’s grumpy reactions were so good. The banter is excellent, so is the spice!
Fantastic! Really, really well written. On kindle unlimited there are some badly edited books so this was a very welcome surprise. Evie is relatable and real. I totally got her hesitation. Too often characters just go with it, but where would she be if she gave up everything and then it all went wrong? I liked her growth and her snark- she’ll definitely keep Axel on his toes. The banter was top tier and hilarious. Not only is Axel rich, he comes from one of the most powerful packs in the country and that brings with it an air of entitlement. Add to that he’s gorgeous and Evie totally has her hands full with the billionaires! I really enjoyed the authors writing style. I felt like I was experiencing London with Evie. Then of course there is the spice and we were treated! I went in knowing nothing about the author and now I can’t wait for the next book.
Started out decent but the storyline of “yes I want you to no I don’t” got old really quick. I got so tired of the FMC in this book. The best part of this book was the epilogue at Eli’s wedding.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

Omg - I need to read this again! Absolutely smashed it! Billionaire romance is my thing, and this had so much depth I truly didn’t want it to end. The soup scene had me rolling and Axel and his car! Honestly, I’m so looking forward to an re-read and that doesn’t happen often! Also, so happy this is a series. I’m pretty new to Omegaverse, but this had everything I wanted and more. It is a standalone, but the epilogue, which is a book in itself, sets up book 2 and I cannot wait. I love finding new authors and Missy Darling - I’m a fan!!!!
