The GEG #2

In The Mix

Rate this book
*** This book contains the GEGs! For those of you who don't understand that warning: GEGs=Strong language, gut-busting LOL moments caused by best friends who check their maturity at the door when they're together, and impromptu Kegal exercises. This book does not come with batteries. Though it can be read as a standalone, I recommend reading the series in order (though not necessary) since all the books will have a continuation of EVERYONE'S story. Enjoy! ***

CiCi O’Brien has a weapon of mass destruction—her mouth. It’s always loaded and ready to strike, whether the situation calls for laughter or a professional smartass. It’s been her strongest defense against unwanted feelings over the past fifteen years. If she acts like she doesn’t care, then she won’t, right?

Yeah . . . keep telling yourself that, Ceese!

Luckily for CiCi, she’s surrounded by friends and family who can easily see through her façade. They (and the furballs she takes care of at work) are who enrich her life, have been the ones she’s needed. That is, until the day her life changed—when she grabbed it by the balls.

No, seriously . . . she grabbed him by the balls. Not kidding.

Kyle Cooper has it all. He’s smart, handsome, and a ninja (not really, but that’s what Mitch likes to call him). As vice president of Colton Technologies, he travels around the world with Mitch, bringing companies the latest innovations in automobile technology. At home, he’s a force to be reckoned with, always hanging out with his parents and sister or . . . working.

Oh.

Kyle Cooper does not have it all, and he’s ready for a change. He just isn’t sure where to begin. That is, until CiCi O’Brien walks into his office and grabs this bull by the . . . horns (wink), which causes a spark to ignite in both of them. Kyle embraces it. CiCi does everything, short of calling the fire department, to put it out. Who will prevail? And what will that win truly mean?

I am a Domestic Engineer (born and raised in NJ) whose sole responsibility is to guide three young impressionable kids into becoming phenomenal adults. This challenging, yet rewarding work requires a lot of love (coffee), patience (wine) and determination (periodic exorcisms). I work all of this magic in the beautiful state of New Hampshire.

Before becoming a Domestic Goddess (not really), I spent over a decade working in the medical field where I wore more hats than the Queen.

I have had a love for the written word and the great escape it provides since I was a little girl. When I wasn't reading about people and the places they lived, I was creating my own characters and adventures. Finally, I have been putting a pen to paper allowing my characters to come to life. When I don't have a pen and paper in hand, you can often find me laughing at the conversations my characters are having in my head.

#peac

The GEG ladies are back and this time, it’s time for CiCi O’Brien to shine and get her story heard. So if you are looking for a shy, timid heroine, I am sorry to disappoint you because CiCi is none of those things. She is loud, unfiltered, and loves her dirty talks. She has no problems telling you how things are and serving your balls in a platter if you cross with her. This loud and sassy GEG lady owns her sexuality and has no problem letting her nosy postal lady, yeah she ordered a purple vibrator and plans to use it. That CiCi in a nutshell. She doesn’t get embarrassed so you gotta love a fierce and independent woman.

#InTM1

But behind this fierce and independent persona lies a woman who had her heart broken from her first love. A trust that was completely shattered and had deeply affected her even though many years had passed by. The walls surrounding CiCi is locked up so tight and it took one man who didn’t take NO for an answer to finally knock down her walls. It also helped this man did many things to CiCi that were quite naughty and slowly the walls started crumbling. No matter how much CiCi tried to push Kyle Cooper away, he didn’t give up on her. He knew CiCi loved him and he loved her. He wanted her to open up to him freely and slowly she did.

#IntheMix

After so many sexy, naughty, and combustible sex scenes, In the Mix really shined when CiCi finally opened up to her past and what a past it was. You know the saying there is always two sides of a story, then be prepared to shed some tears in the last 15% of the book. What started as as a humorous and sexy storyline, slowly transformed to the heart of the matter of the storyline and I must say that it was my favorite part of the book. I love the humor, banter, and naughty scenes but CiCi’s past and ex-lover’s relationship really won me over with this book hence bumping my rating of a 4 to 4.5 stars. And I didn’t expect to find myself shedding tears, but omg I got a little emotional of CiCi’s past. I think we can truly heal once you learn to let go and forgive and what a total awakening it was for CiCi. And I loved that through it all, Kyle never wavered and left her side. The story of Kyle and CiCi was all about the mix. Toss in the good, bad, past, and love, and you got yourself a recipe called LIFE. So if you are looking for a laugh out loud read with lots of sarcasms, banter, sexiness, family, friendship, and love then you must read IN THE MIX by Jacquelyn Ayres!!!

Oh my CiCi! How do I love thee? Let me count the ways....

#1 **I get closer to her, breathing in her face. “Fuck, you’re beautiful . . .” I trail off. The tension in her face lightens up for a moment and, as if she remembers, she furrows her brow.
Oh shit! Oh shit!
She has my balls!
Don’t yelp like a girl! Don’t yelp like a girl!
“You have a really nice set of balls here, Kyle.” She leans in near my ear. “I’m pretty sure you want to keep them. I’m also pretty sure they sound fantastic slapping the ass of whomever you are fucking. If you want to keep it that way, I suggest you tell Mitch that he had better call me or I will not only rip your balls off, but his as well. Capisce?”

Kyle and CiCi can go toe to toe in the smartass banter department better than any book I've come across...EVER!! I fucking LOVED IT! They are so hot for eachother, and you get some of the best inner dialouge I've heard in a book. Think Drew Evans × 2.

#2 ** God, what is he doing? I raise my head again to confirm what I’m feeling. His finger is playing with my ass. “Kyle?” I pant nervously as the pressure increases.
Don’t finger my ass...
Don’t finger my ass...
Don’t finger my ass...
He slips his finger in my ass.
Where’s an “Oh shit!” handle when you need one?**

Laughing yet? The sexy times were smokin hot, but you also can't help at laugh through most of it...Especially when it was from CiCi's POV.

I could add 20 more excerpts from the book, but I think that would defeat the purpose of reading this yourself. I'll just say that YOU..MRS. JACQUELYN AYRES...are my hero! I laughed so hard and loved these characters so hard I wish I could move into this book myself. I even ugly cried at one part, but I felt more releaved about the cry than sad.

I've never written a review this long...that means you need to invest in these books!

Man, I love CiCi! She's always good for a laugh. She truly believes that everyone should live in the moment. You're never promised tomorrow. CiCi is also pretty much crazy and thats what we love about her. I mean... lets not forget what she told Lindsey AA stood for. CiCi has actually had it harder than anyone knows. I wanted to tell Kyle a few times to stop pushing her so hard, but I guess Ms Aryes knew exactly what she was writing about. Kyle was exactly what she needed. Even if he didn't realize he named his son after an actor who played in Star Trek. I really hope the GEGs keep on being classy.

In the Mix
The GEG Series Book 2
by: Jacquelyn Ayers
5 Stars

This is my second book from this author and it was just as Great as the first one was. I found myself laughing out loud at their antics and crying the next. I suggest you read the first book Under Contract to get the background on the story and the characters and what the jist of the story is. This book had it all for me, dual points of view, lust, romance, humor and drama and it was hard to put it down.
The book pulls you into the middle of Cici and Kyle's love story and all they go through. Kyle and Cici are complete opposites and he is relentless into trying to break down Cici's walls which are made of concrete. Kyle is smitten from the first run in they have and is planning on forever and Cici just wants to have fun with no strings. She thinks she is not worthy to be loved because of something that happened in her past.

Book #2: The GEGs Series

My Review:

**Review is slightly spoilerish for Book #1: Under Contract**

Bloody Hell, CiCi O’Brien may be one of the funniest female characters to come along in a long time! I loves me a woman who isn’t afraid to speak her mind, owns her make-a-sailor-blush mouth and, is fiercely loyal to those she calls her own. From the moment In the Mix opens, CiCi is on fire and she doesn’t stop until the moment the story ends.

CiCi is introduced in Under Contract, book one of the GEGS series when she staunchly, loudly, and dramatically defends her sister, Charlotte against Mitch and his dumbassery. CiCi is fearless and in her efforts to defend Charlotte she approaches Mitch’s best friend and business partner, Kyle Cooper. And by approaches I mean she storms into his office, grabs him by the balls (literally!) and, threatens him. While most sane men would call the cops and have the tiny terror arrested for assault, Kyle finds himself totally intrigued and more than a little turned on. Now all he has to do is convince CiCi he is the man for her and she is meant to be his.

Though CiCi certainly isn’t shy about her position, opinions and, beliefs, she uses her loudness and her mouth to hide a shameful and hurtful past. On the outside, CiCi seems to be tough as nails, confident and, sure of her path in life but in reality, she has a business she loves but it is failing, her home is her sanctuary but it is falling apart, her mother is her closest confidant but she is desperately sick again and, she enjoys Kyle in theory but is petrified of allowing him into her world. The last time CiCi allowed a man to get close to her, he didn’t just break her heart, he damn-near broke her spirit. Since that horrifying event, CiCi has guarded her heart with warrior-like defenses.

For the most part, Kyle has an excellent life: he is extremely (though not creepily) close to his family; he is extremely (though not obsessively) good at his job and, he is extremely (though not ostentatiously) wealthy. Kyle is the total package and all his life is missing is a beautiful woman to share forever with. Kyle is not shy about his desires, he wants a woman to settle down with, to love with all he is and, have children. See? The total package and completely terrifying to the one woman Kyle wants above all others. For his part, Kyle is clear in his intentions toward CiCi and is totally willing to wait out her fears and help her understand he is not only not her ex but a man worthy of her and capable of handling all her crazy.

The Bottom Line: My only complaint about this read revolves around how damn stubborn CiCi is. I totally understand why CiCi is so stubborn and why she feels the need to protect herself but Kyle is true at every turn and it is just her fear that keeps her from Kyle. Once CiCi conquers her fears and truly sees Kyle she becomes truly confident. CiCi’s confidence makes her even more likeable and I say this after adoring her in book one! Kyle is truly a highlight in this read with his patience, his kindness and, his devotion to CiCi. Another strength of this read (and Under Contract!) is the author’s willingness to put her characters through an extraordinary amount of distress only to come out on top and stronger for the struggle. I like this! The distress isn’t ever angsty and obnoxious but genuine distress born out of serious situations. Finally, I like that the GEGs are in full force in this read and supporting CiCi as they did Charlotte in Under Contract. Strictly speaking, one doesn’t have to read the GEG series in order but I found In the Mix to be a much more satisfying read for having already read Under Contract. Yet again, another solid and entertaining read from Jacquelyn Ayres.

"Life is made up of all these events that happen. I think of them as ingredients. Everything we go through: joy, sadness, what have you; they're all ingredients. They get thrown in the mix. That batter, with all those ingredients, makes up who we are and who we end up being."

Goodness gracious! Has it been that long since I've read and reviewed Under Contract? How can I have forgotten how much Jacquelyn Ayres' words can make me laugh out loud? I remember cracking up when I read the first book but feeling that feeling again? Oh, fun times!!!

In The Mix can totally be read as a standalone, but if you've read the first book, you have met Cici already. CiCi is Charlie's (from book 1) crazy, carefree, hilarious sister. And then there's the slightly serious but can be equally as crazy as CiCi, Kyle. Kyle is Mitch's (Charlie's other half) best friend.

How do you write a review for a book that managed to make you laugh, chuckle, smile, giggle and smirk for 90% and then have tears rolling down your cheeks before you knew it? In The Mix lived up to its title, everything that has happened and how CiCi and Kyle are is a mix of their past and a mix of what they will be in the future.

I didn't expect to cry. With my experience of Under Contract, crying was the last thing on my mind when I started with In The Mix. But even though I was caught off guard with the tear-stained experienced, it was a good mix into their story. It wasn't all laughter and uber steamy scenes, it was also about hurt and healing and finally opening up all the way for love to take place 101% in.

"I have found the keeper of my balls, Mitch. I'm ready to hand them over."

If you haven't read The GEGs series yet, there is never a dull moment with Jacquelyn Ayres and her stories! Start reading this now and be swallowed up whole into the GEGs crazy-filled world! You will forget your problems. ;)

Appearances can be deceiving, and that is the case with CiCi O'Brian.

She has the spirit of a brave fighter, a fantastic sense of humor and the ability to grab men by the balls (literally) and bring them to their knees. That is the CiCi she lets everyone sees.

On the inside, there's a broken woman, a woman who was taken advantaged of, used and who had to make a difficult decision, one that marked her deep and one that she regrets to this day.

She dates and enjoys male companionship but usually one night is all it takes to satisfy her hunger, that is until she meets Kyle Cooper.

Kyle is somewhat quiet and reserved and completely smitten by CiCi. Until this point work has been able to satisfy him and be his number one priority, but one he meets the outspoken and free spirited CiCi he will go to any lengths to break her barriers and show her what being loved and appreciated is all about, but most importantly, that she's not alone and that she can trust and depend on a man to love her and never leave her side.

Jacquelyn is an fan-freaking-tastic story teller, she pulls the reader into the story and won't let go until the last word has been spoken. She balances humor and laughs, with the drama and tears to make every story stand out from the rest. Her characters are full of life, they're relatable, they're the kind of people that you wouldn't mind spending time with.

A few times while reading this book I found myself thinking, "where the hell does she get all these one liners at," (there are plenty, and each one is funnier than the last) but then I just figured why ask why, in this case 'where' just enjoy the ride and keep laughing your ass off.

You will absolutely love this book, it can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend that you read the first one in the series, Under Contract, so you can get a better understanding of the characters.

Do yourself a favor and pick this book TODAY! You will not regret it, I can guarantee that.

Five very DING DING DING loud bells for Jacquelyn and In the Mix ;-)

Wow! Just Wow! Jacquelyn, you did it again. You knocked me off my feet with another amazing book!

CiCi...she's such a hoot. Spunky, outspoken, not afraid to grab life by the balls or men for that matter. What people don't see is the scared, broken young woman she is on the inside. The side she desperately hides from everyone. For 15 long years she's hidden behind walls she built so no-one could learn her secret. No-one, not even her own family. Then she meets Kyle. He's determined to pull her walls down and she's determined to reinforce them. She keeps pushing him away and he won't take no for an answer. CiCi has so much going on in her life, she really doesn't want a man to complicate things any further. What she doesn't want to see is that Kyle is perfect for her.

Poor Kyle...some crazy woman just walked up to him and grabbed him by the balls, yes, literally! It was love at first sight, he has to know who this spitfire of a woman is.

Once CiCi finally realizes that Kyle is a good guy and he's not going anywhere things start to change for them. He starts to pull her walls down brick by brick. One day something comes in the mail for CiCi. Something that changes her life forever.

Have a box of tissues ready because you will cry. However, you will do a whole lot more laughing. I've read this book 3 times already and could read it a hundred more.
This is book #2 in the GEG Series. Books 1 and 2 can be read as standalones but I highly recommend reading them in order.
This WARNING LABEL needs to be on all of Jacquelyns books especially this one....Do Not Eat Or Drink While Reading Or You May End Up Spitting Stuff Out Of Your Mouth Or Nose!!
This is a LAUGH OUT LOUD MUST READ!!
Out of my top 10 favorite books Jacquelyn Ayres has written 5 of them! Thank you Mrs. Ayres for doing what you do! I'd give you 100 stars if I could. You definitely deserve them.

If you thought Under Contract was good, I can promise you In the Mix is even better.
In fact I think this is Jac’s best book yet. Cici is hysterical and she has certainly met her match in Kyle.

CiCi has built a wall around her so high that Kyle is going to need mountain climbing equipment to scale that sucker. She uses her innapropriate mouth to deflect any attention people throw her way, giving her an air of confidence I certainly wish I could pull off.

But dig a little deeper and she is covering a whole world of insecurities and heartache that she isn’t prepared to share.

For Kyle it is love a first ball grab, you’ll understand soon enough. He is totally besotted and bewitched by this sassy, snarky beauty who grabbed him by the balls. Now to scale the wall of defence.

And as much as she tries to deny it she too is a little smitten.
The turn this story takes you will not see coming, and you will understand her reluctance to trust her heart with anyone when you know what her ex did and how that shaped her future.

The supporting characters are equally important to understanding CiCi and Kyle’s story, we get a futher glimpse into how Charlotte and Mitch are getting on. And the rest of the GEG ladies continue to keep us entertained.

The relationship that both our main characters have with their own families is really very beautiful and I love this aspect of the book.

You don’t have to have read Under Contract (book 1 in the GEG series), but I would recommend you do seek it out at some point this whole series will complement each other.

What you must do is read In The Mix because it will remind you that there is plenty to laugh about and so much to be grateful for.

Favorite Quotes:

“As much as I want to be in a relationship with you, I need to think of protecting myself, too. There is an expiration date on how long you can string someone along and mine is just about met.”

“You do things to me that take my breath away. Amazing things. Things that frighten me.”

“Second of all, you’re a tax write-off because you are medicine to my soul – healing me. Everyday my heart gets stronger, more trusting – freer.”

“It’s New Year’s Day and I’ve had my Wheaties twice this morning already – know what I’m sayin’?”

“Life is made up of all these events that happen. I think of them as ingredients. Everything we go through: joy, sadness, what have you; they’re all ingredients. They get thrown in the mix. That batter, with all of those ingredients, makes up who we are and who we end up being.”

My Review:

I adored this book! I felt the full range of emotions while reading this delightful creation. I laughed aloud - several times. I frequently chuckled and smirked, yet also felt a lump in my throat and an odd stinging in my eyes. Then it happened… an ugly cry, which is rare for me as I am an admittedly jaded and cynical shrew. Imagine my shock and horror… but so worth it! If you enjoy smart, wickedly funny, and cleverly sarcastic humor laced with sensual love scenes that will have you gasping and later cleaning the upholstery - then this is the book for you. Ms. Ayers is my new favorite. Excuse me while I go one-click her entire listing, my furniture needs new upholstery anyway.

This is the second book in the GEG series, you don’t have to read the first book to enjoy this book but I recommend it. This is the story about CiCi and Kyle. CiCi has a mouth on her and a witty sense of humor too. Having the best friends and family has been enough for CiCi for the last fifteen years even though she has been carrying around a horrible secret that no one knows. Kyle was swept off his feet the moment CiCi walks into his office and grabs him by the balls, literally. This book had me laughing, crying and at times horny as hell. I love the bond between the GEGs and the bonds between CiCi and her family and Kyle and his family. CiCi’s secret was shocking and when all was revealed and how it was handled was very well done. I love Kyle and how he is with CiCi. I can’t wait for the next book to see what happens next with this wild group of women!
Characters: The characters were well written and believable.
Sex: so hot!
Religious: no
Would I recommend to others: yes
More than one book in the series: yes
Genre: Romance
Would I read more by this author: yes

Carissa Catherine, CiCi, says what's on her mind. Sometimes it's for shock value other times it really is just what's on her mind. CiCi was hurt, devastating hurt, the kind that doesn't let you open yourself to someone else, no matter how much you want to.

When Kyle first lays eyes on CiCi he is done for. This is the woman he wants and he will do everything he can think of to make her his. Kyle is Mitch's best friend. We met Mitch in Under Contract, GEG #1, when he was falling for CiCi's sister Charley.

The GEG's are just as crazy as ever in this one. They are laugh out loud funny. I love the back and forth between all the characters not only because it make for a good read but I can honestly see some of the things they say actually happening between my friends and I.

I cannot wait to see what is ahead for Ava and Trent and what happened with Charley and Mitch!!

If you haven't tried this series yet I say it's a must especially if you love a sweet, funny, get weird looks for laughing at your kindle book. It is so worth the read!

I fell head over heels in love with the GEG's from book 1, and couldn't wait to get my hands on this story! CiCi was one of the most original, hilarious character EVER. She's snarky, she's bold, and just fantastic.
She is in NO way looking for love or a relationship - she's care-free and not looking to be tied down to anyone. Unfortunately, Kyle has caught her eye...and she is trying to ignore the pull -but he is a very persuasive man.
This story was humorous (in a different way from the 1st book), it was endearing, it was sexy, and it was sweet. All the ingredients I like in contemporary romance.
We did get updates on the other GreenEyedGirls and their banter is always fun. I have to say my favorite addition to the cast was Winnie Cooper. I was NOT expecting her!

"I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads."

This is the second in the series, and I do think that you need to read book 1 to actually appreciate the story fully.

I don't think I enjoyed this quite as much as the first in some ways and yet in others it was even better. I thought Lindsey and Winnie were a great addition to the cast. I found CiCi's outrageous manner a bit grating at times, but it was the perfect foil for Kyle. Knowing more about his family made his nature and calmness easier to understand. Their intense passion made for very heated reading, and I enjoyed every minute of their journey.

If you are up for a lighthearted, yet intense; crazy, yet meaningful story, then this would be a great read.

Romantic comedy doesn't get much better than this. The second book in Jacquelyn Ayres GEG series had all the right ingredients for me. It is dual point of view, lots of dialogue, and plenty of interesting and funny secondary characters. The author also gives us more of Mitch and Charley from the first book in the series, and hints of what is to come with the relationships of the other three GEGs.

In the Mix was laugh out loud funny, incredibly hot, at times frustrating and it had just the right amount heart ache to make me cry. I loved it.

5 dipshit stars!!!

Oh, I loved this one a lot! It's freaking hilarious, swoon-worthy romantic and a little dramatic (in a good way). The story will send you to hysterics and then to ugly crying tears in a matter of minutes. A really good read. So, if you love foul-mouthed, blunt and crazy girls who don't hold their horses for snarky comments and witty comebacks, this book is perfect for you. Just make sure you read the first book, so you'll get the best experience.

This installment of the "Green Eyed Girls" seemed a little forced, a lot over the top and didn't really come together until 85% of the book was through. The last 15% of the book was so good, I just didn't connect with the couple until the book was almost over. I was really looking forward to this book, I'm not sure if I will continue with this series.

Jacquelyn Ayres knows how to win my heart over times ten when she writes a book.

How’s that you ask? Well with gut busting, heart melting, and laugh out loud humor that could make even the toughest person crack a smile. My cheeks hurt from how much I smiled and cracked up reading In The Mix, and the first book in her GEG Series, Under Contract.

But it wasn’t just the humor that won me over repeatedly in this book, it was so much more.

It was the characters she created that never failed to bring one hell of a smile to my face with their truly dynamic and layered selves. It was the story itself that hooked me in from beginning to end with all the very real ups and downs and pushes and pulls it gave me. It was all the varied and well written feeling and emotion that this story and characters made me feel for them while reading this phenomenal book.

It was all that and more that made In The Mix a magnificent 5 star read for me. This book brought a serious smile to my face, but through all those smiles, Kyle and CiCi’s charming and fierce selves adhered themselves to my heart. Permanently.

This is what I’ve loved about this series, and especially In The Mix. These moments made me laugh, crack up, smile and smirk like all get out. I never knew what these crazy fun characters would say and do next, and their hysterical vibrancy just shined through in spades. I couldn’t go a page or two without laughing, and having that level of humor along with the rest of the outstanding story just made my heart so happy. It just added a whole new level of fun and light to reading this book, making this one of the most fun books I’ve EVER read. (Right behind Under Contract of course.)

The one thing guaranteed to win me over from a male character is if they never give up fighting for what they want, and Kyle fits that bill. He never waivers in his determination to get CiCi, and his fight for what they could have with one another. He saw through all the bs and just kept pushing through because he knew what they could have together was worth it. That level of fight, determination, and trust just won me over repeatedly, and it showed me how much of a gem he really was. It also illuminated so much about him, and just how much of a good freaking guy he was. Plus all that determination combined with the rest of his charm made me practically want to swoon over him.

I don’t know if I have the right amount of words to describe how much I LOVED CiCi. There is so much more to her than meets the eye. She is fun, feisty, and spunky as all get out, and I don’t think I ever could’ve imagine what comes out of that girl’s mouth. I loved her, felt for her, cared like crazy for her, and I just believed in every layer of her. Cici is so dynamic with so many well-crafted layers that I highly enjoyed diving into. There’s the layers of CiCi that are fun, light, and carefree, and then there are the layers that show her vulnerability, her true feelings, and the depth of her emotion. The extraordinary combination of those layers just had my heart pulling for her, and I have utterly no doubt that I absolutely effing adore me some CiCi.

There is nothing short of fireworks between Kyle and CiCi. Those two have such a strong chemistry and pull towards one another that you’re going to feel those fireworks in your bones. Their connection and relationship is just waiting to explode and is combusting at the seams, but that’s what makes it what it is, and I guarantee it’ll bring a certain heat to your cheeks. All those fireworks will just ignite your love for these characters, and it’ll make you want to fight for those fireworks right along with them because you know how truly powerful they are when they’re together. And yeah they may be explosive as all get out, but boy are they something beautiful.

CiCi is fighting what is happening and developing between her and Kyle because of the events that happened in her past. These events come to light in such magnificent ways, and not only helped me understand CiCi, but also helped me understand why certain choices and actions were made. It was very easy to see how things got from point A to point B to point C, and all that past just had my heart hurting for CiCi and what she went through. Reading her attempt to move on and accept that past just blew me away with how emotional and heart tugging it was, and it had me dying to reach in and heal CiCi because of it all. I also couldn’t help but love how much Kyle wanted CiCi’s past because he knew if he could get that past, he could also get her future. Total heart melting moment.

There is a ton of pushing in this book. CiCi pushes her firecracker self out there for the world to see. The GEG’s push each other to be honest and open and to be their true crazy selves. But most of all, Kyle continues to push CiCi to admit what she’s feeling for him and to embrace what they could have together if she only tears down those walls around her heart. The way that he pushes her with their relationship is fantastic, and the pushback she gives him makes him truly think and consider what it is that he wants. That pushing brings them both to places they’re fighting like hell to get to. Even in those moments where they’re pushing so hard and it hurts like a mother, that push is exactly what Kyle and CiCi need, and what you need for that matter.

These gaggle of green eyed ladies known as the GEG's are some beyond fabulous females. They are each lovable and fun in their very own way. Each one of the GEG’s has their own story to tell, and I LOVED getting more pieces to each their vivacious puzzles, though I am still dying for more on all of them! CiCi, Charlotte, Julie, Maddie, and Ava just won me over once again, and their friendship and love for one another soared off the page in such an exceptional way from Jacquelyn Ayres writing. I felt their friendship in such a real way, and reading that just made me downright happy. There also wasn’t an instant that these ladies were together that they didn’t have me laughing and fighting the urge to pee my pants (Seriously!), but through all of that I was just enveloped in the love the characters had for one another. The female friendship dynamic in this book and series is just out of this world phenomenal.

I can’t stress enough how real everything in this book felt to me. I wasn’t just reading this book, I was experiencing it. I was feeling it with my heart, and my laughter, and my love. The characters, the story itself, and the events just came across in such a real way, and that truly invested me into every part of this book. That authenticity and realness also just bursts out from the characters. The events and moments that transpire with the characters also just make so much sense because of that authenticity. Nothing was forced, and it all felt so easy to understand. That realness and authenticity just made this book come alive for me as I read it, and it took my reading experience to a new level that just left me in awe.

This is the second book in this series, and I loved how it connected with the first book, Under Contract. It gave new events to characters I’ve already come to love, and getting to know more about them along with CiCi and Kyle was wonderful and so very telling. The connections between these books exemplified all that was fantastic about them both, and just made me more and more eager for the rest of the series. Jacquelyn Ayres has connected me to all of the characters and their stories in such a way that I am practically dying to see where this all goes next.

I have to say thought that one of my favorite aspects of this book was the title. I know that this is a very specific detail to pick out, but it’s an aspect that really was so meaningful. It was one of the aspects I loved most because the way this title connects into the story had me fighting tears. (Good tears, I promise!) I’m not going to tell you what it means, or where you find that out, or how it even comes to be, but when you read the words of how this title comes into play you’ll be nothing short of blown away. It’s a phenomenally powerful moment that made my heart melt, tears come to my eyes, and just took my breath away with its beauty and meaning. (It was by far one of my favorite moments in the book!)

In The Mix was another beyond amazing addition the GEG Series by Jacquelyn Ayres. This book had me in fits of laughter, loving these characters with my entire heart, and feeling this story with everything I had. I honestly cannot say enough good things about this book, this series, and this author’s amazing writing.

In the Mix is a fun read, with plenty of moments that will bring a smile to your face or flush to your cheeks, but underneath all of that awesomeness lies a beautifully emotional story and two fierce characters fighting for their chance at having something spectacular.

Kyle and CiCi are going to win you over in an instant, and even in those moments when they make you want to bang your head against the wall because they’re being so stubborn, you will simply adore them. They’re going to make you work with everything that you have to get to that ending and place you seek to find them in, but through it all they will just warm your heart and bring one helluva huge smile to your face.

This is a 5 star read at its core, and it deserves to be devoured by you this very instant. The GEG’s and Kyle and CiCi won’t let you down one little bit, I can promise you that.

In The Mix (Standalone) (The GEG Series Book 2)
By: Jacquelyn Ayres
5 out of 5 stars

The story In The Mix (Standalone) (The GEG Series Book 2) by Jacquelyn Ayres is a romantic comedy. I loved the second book in the GEG series just as much as the first. I couldn’t help but smile and laugh through most to the book. There are also some moments that are touching as well. I loved the characters of CiCi and Kyle. CiCi is a smart, independent woman who owns her own business. She also has no filter to her words and sometimes her actions. The first time that she meets Kyle and what happens during that meeting is an example of this. It is a scene that you have to read to believe! CiCi also has put up a wall around herself and her heart as she was hurt in the past. Now she finds herself being pursued by Kyle and very quickly pushes him away. The only problem is that Kyle keeps coming back! Kyle is handsome, smart, and is not one to quit when he is after something. Up to now, his life has been about his family and work. Now he finds himself not able to stop thinking about CiCi and how he wants a relationship with her. These two are playing a game of cat and mouse with each other. You know that CiCi has feelings for Kyle, however, she can’t seem to bring herself to trust her feelings and take a chance with him. Kyle is persistent and keeps chipping away at the wall CiCi has created. Will he break through that wall? Will CiCi learn to trust Kyle with her heart? CiCi’s past is part of the barrier to these two finding happiness. Can Kyle help CiCi heal what has haunted her for so long so that they can move forward and finds happiness together? There are many other characters in this story that I loved reading about. They are the friends and family of CiCi and Kyle. Many of them were already introduced in the first book. I loved reading about how close that CiCi and Kyle are to their families. Although this story can be read as a standalone I personally would read the series in order as the characters do overlap and some situations are continued from one book to the next. It makes for a smoother reading experience. Another wonderful story by an amazing author. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series! This story does have adult language and adult situations There are plenty of steamy love scenes and dirty talking back and forth. It would be recommended for those 18 years of age or older.

In the Mix (Standalone) (The GEG Series Book 2) by Jacquelyn Ayres is the second book in her The GEG series. This story can be read as a standalone but I highly suggest that you read the first book too as it is just as enjoyable. Plus this author does one of the things I love most about series. She brings back some of the characters from the previous books. I want to know what happens to the characters after I close a book. You will find yourself laughing out loud with this book so be prepared. This is the story of CiCi and Kyle. CiCi is a woman who has the talent of using her mouth to deter attention that she does not want. But she does have a past that has left her with a few insecurities and she has managed to build a wall around her the size of a mountain. Then one day, her life changed and she ended up grabbing some balls, in fact they were Kyle's balls. He is attracted to her right from the first grab. She keeps telling herself that she is not attracted to him. This is where the story takes on a big twist (you will have to read to find out) that will show you why CiCi feels the way she does. She really just needs to learn to trust but when her past comes hurdling into the present, what will happen? The secondary characters play a little larger role in this book. They give you a further in depth into these characters that really help make this story flow. One of my favorite things about this book is the detail the author went into when it comes to their families. You don't always find the families this way so loving and beautiful. I kept hoping that these two will find their HEA. I felt compassion for CiCi because of everything that has happened to her and kept hoping she would find a way to just trust Kyle. Will she finally admit that she has feelings for Kyle? Kyle also has determination that is strong, he is just so determined that she is the one for him if only she would see that. When things get a little rough, will he bolt or will he stay to help her through it? Will she be able to move forward with Kyle and realize that he is not her past? I highly recommend this book, I know you will want to see what happens with these two and if they ever find their HEA.

“The key is to know the difference between the good stuff and the bad, how to balance it in your mix.”
“Life is made up of all these events that happen. I think of them as ingredients. Everything we go through, joy, sadness, what have you; they’re all ingredients. They get thrown into the mix. That batter with all those ingredients, makes up who we are and who we end up being.”

I am absolutely 110% positive that I have never laughed that hard, and mind you out loud, practically the entire book, ever before. This is the second book in the GEG series and is told by CiCi. She is loud, crass, crude, absolutely no filter. One of her favorite things to do is to explain in detail what is in her parcels to the mail lady that she has known forever when she delivers them. And I do mean details, lol. She is the type of woman most of us quiet ones wish we could be just for a little bit so we too can stand up for ourselves guilt and conscience free. I just loved her.
One afternoon she makes a stop at her sister’s boyfriends office to see him about some business. The guard working is Kyle who is enamored by her green eyes and other beautiful features. All of which are amplified when she literally grabs him by the balls. Yup literally. All while leaving a message for his boss. From there Kyle is in love and will stop at nothing to get this girl on a date.
It is a slow battle for love though because CiCi’s exterior is a wall she has built for protection due to some past trauma that she will not share and refuses to let anyone get to her heart again. Kyle persists, “One night could never be enough with you, so I’d like to leave you with something, I hope, will encourage you to consider a chance with me… His palms hold my face with a bit more aggressive and then… he laid the mother of all kisses on me.”
Will he be able to break down her walls and find out why they are even there? Is there ever a chance for love at all for CiCi?
You won’t regret one moment of this book the second you sit down to read it. It can be read as a standalone, but I would highly suggest that you read the first book Under Contract in the series, first. The characters cross over and updates are given, etc. Things do flow much better if you read them in order that way. That and they are both 5 star reads so can’t go wrong. I personally can’t wait for Book #3!!
"All of these things in our life whether big or small, really are the ingredients in the mix that is unique to us. Think about all of the people who have come in and out of your life. Even if it was a brief stop, it’s significant. Whether they teach you to trust or not to trust, they’re teaching you something. It really does mold you. The key is to know the difference between the good stuff and the bad, how to balance it in your mix.”

In The Mix (Standalone )(The GEG Series Book 2) by Jacquelyn Ayres

In The Mix ( Standalone ) (The GEG Series Book 2 ) By Jacquelyn Ayres is the second book in the GEG series but can be read as a standalone. I found myself laughing at times but then I found myself a little emotional. I enjoyed this book as much as I did the first book in this series. I absolutely loved the authors style of writing and her ability to create a wonderful story that I was literally hooked from the beginning to the end and I didn't want it to end.The characters and the story itself flowed well This story is about CiCi and Kyle.CiCi is a independent smart women who has her own business. I love that she has no filter to her words and often times her actions as well. The first time these two meet you get a good view of this no filter .She's put up a wall around her heart .  bererelationship. She's now being pursued by Kyle but she quickly pushes him away.Thetes just one problem she didn't consider, Kyle keeps coming back. .Kyle,Kyle is a very handsome and smart and one thing is when he wants something he doesn't give up on getting his way.Up till this point his life was about his family and his work. .He now finds himself unable to stop thinking about CiCi and the relationship he wants to have with her .These two and the game there playing .CiCi has feelings for Kyle this much she knows her problem is can she trust her feelings for Kyle,Kyle is not one to give up and he's very persistent and he keeps chipping away at the wall she's put up. Can Kyle help CiCi heal, and move forward?I loved and can't wait to read more from this author. I do recommend not only this book but the first book as well, some of the characters overlap and it just makes sense although this can be read as a standalone.

Even though I'm only on the second book in the series, this is my favorite so far, because I LOVE Cici. She is strong, feisty, and says ALL the things we want to say but shouldn't. She has no filter and is hysterical. She's also the one with the big heart who has loved the wrong man, so now her wall is sky high. But Kyle is the man to break it down while building her up, brick by brick.
"I'm not sure I am ready for what he brings to the table. It's something I'm so used to not having, how am I supposed to learn how to be comfortable with having it." This was a moment of her being vulnerable and honest, I felt that in my heart. I totally understand where she was coming from.

I loved them together. The things he did and said to her, even I was speechless while fanning myself. He is the smart man with the dirty mouth, loveeeee. The banter between them is hysterical because they both have fun pushing what they say. He was gentle when needed and rough (hehe) when required.

This was a fast and fun read, there was a bit of angst, but just enough to get the feels. I am now ready for book 3, these girls are the ones you want to lift you up when you're down and celebrate with when it's up. #GEG4Life It is a standalone, but I do think it should be read in order so you can prepare yourself for Cici, to know her is to love her.

Cici & Kyle… A match made in heaven.. or not!!

Kyle is a gorgeous man who is smart, funny and a successful business man. He has the world at his feet. All he wants is Cici. He has wanted her (not just in his bed) to be in his life from the moment he laid eyes on her and grabbed him by the balls.. No really, she literally did!

Cici is complicated. She has allowed a traumatic event from her past dictate her life for 15 years. No one knows what happened and if she has her way no one ever will. Cici feels she is not worthy of a man’s love and devotion and has made it her life’s mission to push them all away. She believes they deserve better than her.

Kyle doesn’t buy it. He pushes and pushes. They have good days and bad days. Eventually Kyle works out that Cici does things her way and in her own time.

You will laugh… A lot when you read In The Mix, you may shed a few tears, or at the very least feel empathy for both Kyle and Cici, but then you will laugh some more!! Jacquelyn Ayres has brought Cici to life in a way that is both hilariously funny, but also heart warming. You see despite Cici’s tough front that she puts on, underneath she has a heart of gold. Cici is a true treasure and no one knows this more than Kyle. He gets her, and, she gets him.

Kyle has a sister Lindsay who has Down Syndrome when Cici meets Lindsay she takes to her like a duck to water. This just confirms to Kyle what he knew all along. Cici is a beautiful woman and he will stop at nothing to make her his.

Their relationship is rocky at best sometimes and Cici has the fight or flight instincts down pat. It is funny I often get frustrated with female characters that want it then change their minds, but I didn’t feel that way at all about Cici, more than anything, I just wanted to hug her. She really is a good person who can’t see the good in herself that everyone else can see and that really does come across in this story.

What I loved about Kyle is that not once did he waver in his determination to pursue Cici. I also loved that he loved his parents and didn’t shy away from seeking their advice when it came to his love life, nor did he hesitate to take the advice they dished out to him.

Kyle and Cici really are perfectly matched, Kyle knows it and now he just needs Cici to realise it.

As their relationship progresses it is interesting to see how they both evolve from to single people to an actual couple. They both have lessons to learn on their journey but the way they learn about each other and also themselves is not just beautiful but oh so funny too!! I wouldn’t recommend reading in a public place though, you may find yourself with tears running down your face from laughing so much or blushing till your bright red from the super hot sex scenes!! ( I don’t know, maybe keep some tissues and a fan on standby? LOL ;) )

Jacquelyn Ayres is one of those rare authors who have the ability to make you feel the emotions of the character. She writes about serious life changing issues like MS and Down Syndrome in a way that raises your awareness of them, but she also brings a lighter shade to the context of the story while doing this. Not many people can pull off adding the element of comedy into a sexy, hot as sin romance, but Jacquelyn has done it again.

This is book 2 in the GEG series and while it could be read as a standalone, I would highly recommend reading book 1 (Under Contract) too as it gives you a bit of background about Cici’s relationships with the rest of her family and also the other GEG girls too.

If you want a full length novel that will keep you hooked from start to finish & have you laughing your butt off all the way through then you seriously need to go & get yourself a copy of In The Mix.. It is one of my top 5 must reads for this year!!

I'm not exactly sure where to start. The story was very slow going for me in the first third of the book. I also feel as though we missed out on an important scene that was needed in the beginning. We go from hearing talk about a possible date straight to the date having already occurred. We don't actually know what happened.

Kyle Cooper believes he has met the perfect woman. She's smart-mouthed, bossy as hell, and had a hand on his jewels at their first meeting. He can't get her out of his head. He bugs his best friend Mitch until he sets up a double date with her, after all, it is his girlfriend, Charlotte's sister.

Cici is...WOW. Between her inner monologue and what actually leaves her mouth, she is blunt. There is no brain to mouth filter, especially at times when there should be. But she also has some doubts about herself, ones that stem from a painful event that happened 15 years ago.

Kyle is up for the chase. He's nothing if not persistent. He's trying everything he can think of. But Cici is a different brand of girl, and she's not making it easy.

If we had that (I feel) crucial scene in the beginning, I probably would have rated a little higher. I think that if we had it, we would have maybe understood a little of why Kyle was chasing Cici so hard, why he was putting in so much effort towards something so difficult. The thing that redeemed this story for me was the banter and the relationships between the main and supporting characters. The banter was witty sarcastic. There were so many times where I couldn't believe something was said. I laughed because it was so outrageous, but funny at the same time. Whatever Cici dished out, there was usually someone right there to dish it right back. Back to the relationships, they were strong. They both have family and friends who would do anything for them. There is always an ear to listen and advice to be given. All in all, it was an OK book. Not knowing that this was part of a series, I can safely say that this can be read as a standalone.

I love Cici shes the perfect female character shes not scared to speak her mind and even though she comes across tough girl and shut off attitude but she is incredibly loyal and protective of the people she is closest too. When cici meets kyle for the first time she leaves a lasting impression and he cant get her out of his head but she has walls built up around her heart to protect herself after a awful past . Kyle literally keeps trying to win her over but he keeps getting pushed away will he continue to fight or will he walk away? Will Cici realise that Kyle is a good guy and wants to protect her and make her his before its to late? Will she finally let someone in? Will they get a happy ending!? .... I really enjoyed this novel it was a hard book to set down once your started in i got that hooked to the storyline. At one point i wanted to reach into the book and slap cici and get her to realise what a catch kyle is i mean ladies he is the perfect boyfriend you will soon find out!!! ....I would absolutely recommend this novel , enjoy i definitely did!!!

In the Mix is the second installment of The GEG series by Jacquelyn Ayres and let me just say that I LOVED IT! This book made me laugh with tears of joy as well as touched my heart. The characters, CiCi and Kyle, worked so hard to stay away from each other (mostly CiCi) that there was a bit of frustration with this read but it really made the read that much more. I really loved CiCi and how she had absolutely no filter and the wall she put around her heart made her the perfect partner for Kyle in this, and watching her fall really was great. I am so glad that I found these books in my TBR pile because they are great lighthearted reads that make reading fun. Jacquelyn Ayres is an author that will make you fall in love with her without even trying. This is a series that I just can’t seem to get enough of!

This book was just as good as the first!! I love that they took characters that were secondary to the main characters from the first book and put them front and center in this book. You see just as amazing detail and passion coming to this book like you did from the previous book. Shedding new light to other characters from the last book to show different personalities that made you giggle now find a new part in their life with love. This author has a way with showing emotion and tugging at your heart strings. You see what maybe internal conflict as well as love the stories are different but so much love and greatness in this book as well. I’m ready for book #3 please!!
