Hadley Home Design Cozy Mysteries #6

Misty Blue Malice: Hadley Home Design Cozy Mysteries Book 6

Rate this book
There’s something old, something new, something borrowed, and something sinister amid wedding preparations at the Ladyvale Manor.

Wedding bliss is in the air as Hadley’s aunt prepares to marry Detective Roy Sanders… until someone slips poison into a glass of chardonnay during a pre-wedding celebration.

As maid of honor, Hadley should be focusing on wedding preparations—not murder attempts. But she can’t shake the suspicion that this incident might be linked to her uncle’s “accidental” drowning five years ago. Between decorating for the big day, hosting her out-of-town parents, and navigating her blooming relationship with Detective Dennis Appley, Hadley is pulled into a mystery that seems to reach deep into Darlington Hills’ past.

With the wedding just days away and strange occurrences multiplying, Hadley must piece together old clues, cryptic comments, and town secrets before the happy couple can tie the knot. Someone in Darlington Hills has deadly intentions, and they’ll stop at nothing to achieve them.

Misty Blue Malice is the sixth book in the Hadley Home Design Mystery Series. If you like sassy sleuths, enchanting small-town settings, twisty plots, and lighthearted whodunnits with a dash of sweet romance, you’ll love this next mystery in the series.

I have loved the books in the Hadley Home Design series. The characters are well developed and the mystery will have you drawn into the story and you will be flipping through the pages as quickly as possible to help Hadley figure out who is guilty. I have enjoyed getting to know Hadley, her fiancé, Dennis, and the rest of the people of Darlington Hills. Lots of twists and turns and clues that have you wondering if previous crimes and events were properly explored. While you could read this as a standalone, I strongly encourage you to grab the first book and get lost in the pages as you watch Hadley mature and grow as she discovers her true abilities. Lots of delightful characters. I cannot wait for the next adventure!

Thank you to the author for my advanced review copy. All opinions and thoughts are my own.

Emily Oberton has done it again with Misty Blue Malice, the sixth installment in the Hadley Home Design Cozy Mystery series. This five-star cozy mystery skillfully combines intrigue, small-town charm, and a touch of romance, captivating readers from start to finish with its expertly crafted plot and compelling characters.

Hadley Sutton, an interior designer turned amateur sleuth, is busy preparing for her aunt Deb's wedding at Ladyvale Manor when a shocking poisoning at a pre-wedding celebration disrupts the festivities. Discovering that the poisoned wine glass was meant for someone else complicates the situation further. As she investigates the mystery, she begins to uncover a connection between this poisoning and her uncle's mysterious drowning five years earlier.

What I enjoy most about this author is her ability to craft a story filled with twists and turns that keep the reader engaged and guessing until the very end. Just when I think I've figured it out, she introduces another twist that leaves me guessing again.

Misty Blue Malice is a must-read! If you love unpredictable plots filled with a captivating whodunit, hidden town secrets, a determined sleuth and a touch of romance, this book will keep you entertained and guessing until the very end.

This book can be enjoyed as a standalone, but I highly recommend reading it in order. Doing so will help you become familiar with the recurring characters and allow you to fall in love with them, just as I have. I am already looking forward to the next book.

I received this book as a member of the ARC team, and this review reflects my personal opinion.

I am really enjoying this series of cozy mysteries. I am new to the series, diving in partway through, but it hasn’t affected my enjoyment of them. Each book is a standalone mystery, so they can be read out of order, but there is a romance background story, which is so sweet.

The mystery this time is not a deceased neighbour but a poisoning which affected the wrong victim. The intended recipients were our main protagonist and amateur sleuth, Hadley Sutton and her father. Knowing someone was out to get her was unnerving, and naturally, Hadley is into the investigation, much to the amused exasperation of her boyfriend, Detective Dennis Appley. However, the poisoning attempt brings up questions about whether Hadley’s Uncle Bill’s accidental drowning years ago was an accident at all.

This book has many mysteries, twists and turns with plenty of suspects and red herrings, all set amongst the backdrop of feisty Aunt Deb (Hadley’s aunt and Bill’s widow) and Detective Roy Sanders (Dennis’ partner) wedding. Yes, this is a very tight-knit community, but that’s one of the key elements to a good cozy mystery. Along with the quirky characters and small-town vibes, this has a really good storyline which keeps you guessing until the very end.

Another great read. The book starts off with Hadley being arrested for trespassing & being rescued by Dennis just before she is put into a cell! Her parents have flown in from Japan for her aunt Deb’s wedding to Roy, and her father is very annoyed with Dennis whose prank caused Hadley to be arrested! Hadley and her aunt are busy finalising the wedding plans. The wedding is taking place at Hadley’s home. One evening Hadley overhears an argument between her father and Dennis which sets the story racing all over the place for her.

This is a delightful read with an engaging mystery and storyline. Hadley is busy preparing for her aunt's wedding as she is the maid of honor and also hosting the wedding at her home. And then someone is poisoned and Hadley is busy trying to solve the mystery as she is wondering if her family is in danger.

There are many mysteries and her dad is acting strangely and so much more all of which comes together for an entertaining read that was hard to put down. I highly recommend this series.

I received a free advance copy and this is my honest review.

A cold case that had been ruled an accident is starting to look very suspicious. Hadley looks into the death of her uncle more closely when she and a loved one are suddenly targeted. Old secrets are revealed in this page-turning cozy. I loved the family bonds in this book. It can be read as a standalone.
